Articles - June Lummis Day - 6/1/14 “I attended the Lummis Day Festival with Lizelle Oreno and Grace Punzalan, as well as many other students from Benjamin Franklin. This was my first time volunteering at the festival and it was a very memorable and amazing event. It was very exciting how many people showed up to either volunteer or attend the festival, and I was amazed at how kind everyone was to each other. The festival had many jobs for us volunteers to do, and our club was assigned maintaining parking and clean-up afterwards. The staff was very kind towards us and made sure we were doing good, whether it be during our shifts or not. I definitely recommend for many other members to come and experience this event because not only is it fun and interesting, but it is also a great service event and has many different things to do to help out. I hope our club gets to attend the Lummis Day Festival again in the upcoming years. - Aja Archuleta

Articles - June Braille - 6/10/14 “Going to the Braille Institute to help organize audiotapes and put them in certain shelves and also do other various activities is always a great thing to do for this amazing event. Every time we go and volunteer at Braille we are greeted with lots of "Hellos!" from the very friendly staff and people there. I highly recommend anyone to go and try to attend this event ASAP as they can as you will really love this event in particular out of all of our service events that we have. We will be having Braille events every week on Tuesday this summer so you will be having many opportunities to volunteer at this amazing event.” - Jeffrey Fernandez

Bernard Music School - 6/8/14 “Bernard's Music School was a fun event that Jeffrey, Lizelle, and myself got to experience. As a sophomore it was my second time going to Bernard's Music School and all I can say is that it was as great as the first time. So during this event our job was to set up tents, chairs, and tables. As well as set up for the event we also made popcorn and put mini sodas into a mini fridge. After setting up we were able to watch the three on three basketball tournaments that they were holding. Me and Jeffrey also got to participate in the tournament as players on Bernard's team, unfortunately we didn't win, but we had fun and that's all that matters. At the end of the event we said our goodbyes and left in Ms. Harada's van. Overall this event was very successful because we were able to help those who need help and that basically is what key club is about, doing service and putting smiles on other peoples faces. I do hope to again and next time I hope more people can go.” -Gabriel Tatlonghari

Member of the Month — Dustin Tran For the month of May, the Thunderpup of the month is Dustin Tran! He is currently a senior and a is known to go beyond caring others. Being in Key Club since freshman year, he is an expert and will continue to inspire new members to do what he loved most. For example, this month Dustin attended our neighborhood’s Lummis Day event. He arrived to this event very early. It shows his dedication by giving up his usual weekend to come and help in the community’s celebration. Even when completing the tasks given during the event, he did extra work to make sure all the residents would have a great experience and enjoy the event. Dustin is ready for another year of service and is excited to do more for the club. This summer is just the start of the many great things he has in store. His persistence can uphold any task given to him and motivates himself to do the most he can for others.

Officer of the Month — Aja Archuleta For the month of June, the officer of the month is our bulletin editor, Aja Archuleta! Our officer for the month of June is no other than Aja Archuleta! She is currently a sophomore and is never tired of service. She not only amazes through herself, but through her beautiful newsletters. She brings them into life. Although a shy one, her creativity shines within her. She attended Lummis Day in our community’s celebration and it showed how willing she was to do what ever it takes to make the event more enjoyable for the people. While volunteering, she always has a smile that shows she loves helping others. Also, she has attended our District Division’s OTC and she's learned many of the different aspects of Key Club, and has met many of our other members . Aja will always find a way to help others. I know that she will go far in this term and grow more as a leader to everyone and may inspire others.

Banquet Award Hello Thunderpups! The D3N/D3S Banquet was a great turnout! It was such a lovely event to meet our sister division, the D3N Starfish, and to interact and get to know one another. There were many smiles, many laughs, and some tears were shed as well (out of joy!). But that wasn’t the only thing! There was also a very lovely dinner that was served, some Angela Kwon

performances from D3N and D3S, a dance at the very end, and of course, awards! As it turns out, our club here at Benjamin Franklin has been given quite a few awards for many outstanding accomplishments we’ve done. As our very own I.P. Lieutenant Governor Karlo Madrona was giving out the awards, we, as well as the other clubs in our division, couldn’t help but feel such appreciation and care from our fellow members and officers. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to achieve the things we have achieved. So without further to do, here are our award winners from Benjamin
