A Message from… Lizelle Oreno - President “Hello fellow Key Clubbers! I hope all of you did well during this month full of testing, whether they are AP tests, or the upcoming finals. Summer has finally come! As the school year comes to end, Key Club does not! We have lots of events filled for this summer, so please be updated with our club page, and the Instagram page for any notifications! We hope you can make it to most of the events! Thunderpups, all of you are amazing! Keep on howling!”

Aja Archuleta - Bulletin Editor “Hey everyone! Hope you’ve had an exciting last month of the school year! I know you guys must be tired of AP testing and finals coming up, but your spirit and service have still shown through! I’m so proud! Anyways, the month of May was full of many great events, such as the Memorial Day Breakfast and Dinner, OTC, the Cinco de Mayo Festival, and many more. The month of June will be packed with events as well, and will be easier for attending since school will be out (hooray!). But all in all, we have ended this year with a blast and will begin next year the same. So remember to serve, serve, serve! Have a great summer!”

Articles Xochitl Garrido - Memorial Day Dinner “May 24th was the day of the Memorial Day Dinner at Memorial Park located in the city of La Cañada Flintridge. Those who signed up to help out with the dinner were to meet up at Franklin at 2:30. I almost didn’t make it but I did and I joined fellow Key Clubbers, Bibiana and Ruben, in Ms. Harada’s car. She then drove us to the location while offering us some delicious cookies. Once we got to our destination, it looked like everything was almost set up. A woman named Star told us what we were to do for the day. Our first task was to place the table cloths either red, white, or blue - on each of the round tables. After each table had its color, we were given clips to secure the tablecloth so that the wind wouldn’t blow it away. Our main job for the rest of the day would be to collect all the clips before we left home. For the time being, Bibiana, Ruben, Ms. Harada and I sat down at a table and had some casual conversations until our assistance was needed. We were given a complimentary dinner for our services. Live Jazz was playing at the gazebo. When we finished eating we began walking around collecting trash and recycling. The fireworks show was about to start so we sat and watched. It was amazing. It was time to go so we collected the clips, cleaned up and went home.”

Member of the Month

Xochitl Garrido Our “Thunderpup of the Month” Award for May goes to Xochitl Garrido! She is currently a junior, and has recently revealed her deep passion for service! Despite her difficult class schedule and other extracurriculars, she has found the time to help out! She also travels all the way from Koreatown to be able to aid her community. For the month of May she was able to attend the Memorial Day Dinner on May 24th. To attend this event, she travelled form Ktown, but she still arrived with a smile and good spirit! During this event she helped set up the tables, chairs, and tablecloths to make sure it was ready for the people! She also assisted Star, the person in charge, to move chairs for the musicians in the gazebo. During the event, she assisted other members in collecting trash and recyclables. Then in the end of the event, she helped clean up and remove the tablecloths. She also did as instructed and collected the clips which were Star’s. Overall, Xochitl was a huge help in making sure everyone had a great time at the Memorial Day Dinner. Entering her senior year, we hope she still remains part of Key Club. She has constantly showed her passion for Key Club! We know she will bring much more! Thanks Xochitl!

Officer of the Month

Aja Archuleta Our “Officer of the Month” for the Month of May goes to none other than our Bulletin Editor, Aja Archuleta! Our Bulletin Editor never gets enough credit for her beautiful and informational newsletters! In addition, Aja is always eager to reveal her passion for Key Club by serving the community with a bright spirit! For the month of May, Aja not only attended the Officer Training Conference, but also the Memorial Day Breakfast. During the OTC, she learned new ways to enhance her bulletins. Despite the fact that they are already close to perfect, we’re sure she is always finding new ways and things to implement into her newsletters. As for the Memorial Day Breakfast, she woke up really early, and started serving breakfast at 7 am! along with 4 other Key Clubbers, they helped serve breakfast to the La Cañada Community. After serving breakfast, they helped clean up and take down to make sure the park was as clean as before. Aja is always eager to attend service events and in any way express her love for this Club! Her passion for the Club and her informational newsletters have brought us a long way. Keep howlin’ Aja!
