I am a volunteer with Salida Mountain Trails, which creates and supports our local trail systems. Moving from Oklahoma City, we purchased Roxy’s Bottle Shop and jumped feet first into the community. I have served on the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and FIBArk Board of Directors. Before moving to Salida, I spent 10 years as a top-selling Realtor in the Oklahoma City area and love continuing my real estate career with Pinon.

(719) 539-0200 | jkane@pinonrealestate.com I’ve been with Pinon almost since the very beginning. The year 2006 was very busy for me; I moved, got married, and started my new job here as Office Manager. In 2013 I decided to get my Real Estate License. When the opportunity to take on the role of General Manager arose, I readily accepted. Born and raised in the Meeker area, I fell in love with Salida during multiple visits and after meeting my husband Shawn, a thirdgeneration native. I feel a deep connection to the values of hard work, honesty, and integrity that underpin everything we do here at Pinon.

I am both a Broker Associate and the long-term Property Manager for Pinon. A typical day? I return dozens of phone calls, show rental homes, and coordinate repairs. I shoot out hundreds of emails each week, soothe nerves, distribute information, hold hands and listen.

Pinon Personalities WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LOCAL BUILDING OR ARCHITECTURAL STYLE?

Janine Marr (719) 221-1838 | jmarr@pinonrealestate.com Living and working here as the owner of Bangs! Hair Salon for more than 18 years has given me a deep understanding of the community and it’s unique culture. People who know me say my compassion and strong connection to clients will translate perfectly to the real estate industry. They also say I’m a pro at getting things done. While not working, I love spending time with my husband Mike and daughter Jamison on Salida’s beautiful nine-hole golf course.

Hayden Mellsop (719) 530-8333 | hmellsop@pinonrealestate.com Born in New Zealand, I have lived in Salida since 1996, and have worked at Pinon since 2006. Prior to a career in real estate, I guided whitewater rafters and fly anglers in New Zealand and Colorado for over twenty years. Together with Kym, I raise my two daughters, enjoy fly fishing, mountain biking, snowboarding, and the sense of community that comes with living in a small town. I am a board member and past board chair of Realtors of Central Colorado and the Central Colorado Conservancy.

THE ICONIC F STREET BRIDGE. SO MANY PEOPLE STAND ON IT TO TAKE IN THE MOUNTAIN VIEWS.

DEPENDING ON THE SEASON: EXPLORING THE TRAILS, FLOATING THE RIVER, RIDING THE POWDER.

Kym Mellsop (719) 207-3077 | kmellsop@pinonrealestate.com After graduating from Smith College in ’94, I came to Salida for the summer to work for my brother, intending to return home to the SF Bay Area, but I met Hayden and never left! I bring to Pinon a love of the mountains and the community. When not working in real estate I volunteer with Heart of the Rockies Hospice and lead the Caring Committee for the Salida Sangha. I’m also curator of the Pinon office art gallery. I love going on hikes around ‘S’ Mountain during my work week. Our daughters have flown their Salida nest now but raising them in this community was one of the best decisions we’ve made.

Leah Nephew (719) 539-0200 | info@pinonrealestate.com After growing up in southwest Michigan and graduating from Michigan State University — I craved a change in scenery. My now husband and I moved to Salida in early 2017 and fell in love with the mountains and constant sunshine. I then stumbled into the perfect job at Pinon which challenges my creative side and keen attention to detail. I enjoy scenic drives, photography, cats, and tending to my plants and chickens. If you call Pinon, I’ll most likely be the one to answer.

Pinon Personalities Gina Peters (831) 421-1664 | gpeters@pinonrealestate.com I’m no stranger to small-town mountain life coming from the north entrance of Yosemite, but new to Salida Colorado! Having over a decade’s worth of experience as a Chief Operations Officer in the Eco Fashion World and the Outdoor Industry, I’m well organized and versed in dealing with sales, people, and important transactions. I’ve jumped into this community as the Director of Sponsorships for the Salida Fiber Festival and as a Broker Assistant here at Pinon. Real Estate has always interested me in terms of city development, market trends, and assisting people with their real estate goals.

Kaelen Peuser (970) 403-9664 | kpeuser@pinonrealestate.com I am a Salida native who has been fortunate to grow up in the Arkansas Valley. I come from a family with over 40 years of combined real estate expertise! My broad knowledge base of the surrounding area and strong network within the community provide for an exceptional client experience.

I have deep roots in the Salida community and enjoy sharing my enthusiasm for the many amenities that make this area special. I know you have choices when you seek a relationship with a real estate professional. I believe in personal communication and will begin by listening to your story and asking questions to assist me in responding to your real estate needs.

Brett Rankin I grew up in Salida where I developed a love for the outdoors, especially skiing and mountain biking. Over the years I have seen the area grow from a sleepy mountain town to a thrill seekers getaway. Seeing people discover the Arkansas Valley and fall in love for the same reasons I call Salida home has made me even more passionate about the community. You may recognize me from around town as the founder and former owner of Albritton Ski Co or helping my lovely wife Ysabella at her shop Fay & Maye. I feel very fortunate to call Salida home and for the opportunity to work with such a great team at Pinon Real Estate Group.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LOCAL BUILDING OR ARCHITECTURAL STYLE?

(719) 221-4662 | wrombold@pinonrealestate.com Initially I came to this valley to camp and raft on the Arkansas River. Now, everyday I’m grateful to see the beautiful mountains and be a member of this amazing community! After living in the towns of Salida and Buena Vista since the year 2000, I have a wealth of local market knowledge. With 25 years of real estate experience as a broker and loan officer, my goal is to help my clients make educated decisions and good choices. These days if I’m not in the office, you may find me at the golf course, on my yoga mat or on the river.

Joey Rovinsky (614) 940-9980 | jrovinsky@pinonrealestate.com I am originally from the foothills of the Appalachian mountains in southeastern Ohio. After summering in Alaska and wintering in different countries around the world for eight years, I decided to return to the mountains to set down some roots. The Rockies, Salida, and the wonderful people who call it home was an easy choice. I co-founded The Seasonals Magazine and host The Seasonals Podcast and love meeting and listening to great storytellers. I’m excited to be a part of the Pinon team.

I have a deep love of my home and my community and want to share the awesome beauty of the region, the numerous outdoor activities and the culture of a mountain town.

Penny Wilken (719) 221-9179 | pwilken@pinonrealestate.com Originally from the Midwest, I’ve been happy to call Colorado home for more than 20 years. My husband Keith and I knew Salida was where we wanted to live after our very first visit. We’ve raised two children here and can’t imagine a better place to raise a family. I’m in my second term as a Salida school board member, and I helped start the Chaffee County Boys & Girls Clubs. My passion for Salida and love of real estate make me a natural choice when looking for an agent. When not working, I enjoy hiking and camping with my husband and two dogs.

COLORADO FARM TO TABLE

(719) 539-6627 Chaffee County Public Health strives to elevate community health through immunization against communicable disease, health promotion, health protection and emergency preparedness. We would like to take a moment and thank Chaffee County Public Health for their tireless efforts throughout this past year and half. It was not an easy feat to follow the guidelines and restrictions put in place but we did our part for the wellbeing of the community and persevered. We have been impressed with Public Health’s organization and quick responses under high levels of stress, as well as effectively communicating guidelines as best they could. Thank you to all at Chaffee County Public Health for helping us navigate through this incredibly difficult pandemic. Your hard work did not go unnoticed.

(719) 207-2737 In 1996, career farmer Tony Madone, Jr. started a two acre plot in Salida. A lifelong friend suggested that Tony donate the produce he raised there to soup kitchens and food banks. It felt right to provide individuals and families in need with fresh produce at no cost to them. That mission continues today. In 2006, Colorado Farm to Table became a non-profit corporation. The prior year, Tony moved the farm operation to its current location on Highway 291 in Salida, growing vegetables on ten of the site’s available 15 acres. Use of this land was donated by the Shine’s, a local farming family. Colorado Farm to Table plants, harvests, and distribute as much fresh produce as possible. Distribution covers much of Colorado including Salida, Buena Vista, Montrose, Alamosa, Leadville, Gunnison, Fairplay, Canon City, Westcliffe, Saguache, Fountain, Pueblo, Colorado Springs, metropolitan Denver, and Northern Colorado.

BY THE NUMBERS In addition to the hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars our brokers donate each year to local causes, Pinon Real Estate Group has made monetary contributions to more than 50 local organizations over the past 16 years.
