rince Dimitri comes by his creative talents naturally. It was Prince Dimitri’s paternal grandmother who related firsthand the magnificence of the jewelry collection of her mother and grandEmerald Necklace mothers. His great-grandmother Grand Duchess Elena Vladimirovna of Russia had inherited all of the diamonds belonging to her mother, Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna of Russia, a collection renowned the world over for its lavish, exquisite breadth. In New York, Sotheby’s Chairman Alfred Taubman offered Prince Dimitri a position in the jewelry department at Sotheby’s where he quickly became a Senior Vice President overseeing all aspects

of the jewelry auctions. During his 15 year tenure at Sotheby’s, Dimitri studied gemology and also become an appraiser. In 2002, he joined Phillips de Pury & Luxembourg and became head of the jewelry department. After launching his gemstone cufflink collection and a collection of pearls for Assael, Prince Dimitri and partner Todd Morley opened the first Prince Dimitri Salon in 2008 at 5 East 57th Street in New York. Inspired by The Everglades Elizabeth Thompson is one to keep an eye on. Her most recent artwork, soon to be displayed at her pop-up gallery in Palm Beach, includes handmade paintings inspired by her fascination with the Everglades following a theme of poetic isolation. Thompson was Artist-in- Residence at the Park in 2007, and lived with alligators, pythons, scorpions and the occasional panther, as neighbors. She says the scariest part of the experience be"Red Canoe" · Oil on Canvas · 51" x 75" (2011) came the best part : being truly alone and cut off. The narratives that Thompson constructs are difficult to place, not just in terms of their content, but even in their voice. Thompson is also long-time photographer influenced by photo-realism during her early career, which can be identified through her paintings. She aligns her works with artists such as Peter Doig, Eric Fischl, and Gerhard Richter. elizabeththompsonart.com For more information on Thompson’s upcoming exhibitions, contact: office@altimacclub.com
