MEET THE PEOPLE
Patriots and their Passions
O
n behalf of the Fisher House, we would like to recognize two men, both of whom have good reason to support the Friends of Fisher House fundraiser at Taboo. Ed Ivy, Director of Village Camps and Graham Gaspard, President of Black River Caviar share a common passion: Supporting those who served in the armed forces. Ed Ivy served in Vietnam along with his brother. His father was a World War II veteran. Ed Ivy donated a summer camp session with a value of $5,000 for the auction. Graham Gaspard, President of Black River Caviar, whose father ‘George Speedy Gaspard’ served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam and was recipient of the Silver Medal of Freedom, donated a Kilo of Ossetra with a value of $4,000 to help raise funds during the event. “I've an immense amount of respect for our vets. As the son of someone who served in combat roles spanning 3 wars I've gained a unique perspective of the sacrifices our men and women in the military have and continue to make for us to enjoy the peace most of us take for granted. Supporting Fisher House is an honor for me,” says Gaspard
“My brother and I both served in Vi.etnam, our father in WWII. What I did is no different than the hundreds of thousands of GI’s that have served. It just makes one able to sympathize and feel for those present day soldiers serving or who have served in the various conflicts around the world since the days Vietnam,” says Ivy
ABOUT VILLAGE CAMPS This year, Village Camps celebrates 40 years of providing an award-winning international summer camp experience for children 7 to 18 years of age. Campers have an array of curriculums to choose from including Languages Programs, Leadership Training, Adventure & Sport, Film Academy, Creative Arts and much more.

Rafe Cochran
R
afe Cochran, son of American Le Mans race car driver, Jay Cochran, was lucky to discover his special gift at the age of six. It all began while attending Golf Camp at the Breakers with Valerie Lapappa. At Valerie’s suggestion, Rafe entered the “I love golf! It chose me” US Kids’ Tour August 2011. Under the tutelage of his says Rafe coach, PGA player Bobby Collins , Rafe has been competing in tournaments ever since, finishing the top four over all. Rafe was “He just loves the challenge! He loves his school. Giving back was his idea ” invited to the 2012 European Championships in Scotland says proud mom, Diahann Cochran (June 5-7th), where he finished fourth out of forty of the best seven year olds in the world, bringing home a silver cup from his first major event.
Swinging for Charity Rafe took his love for golf and decided to raise money for his school, Palm Beach Day Academy, by securing sponsorship for one of the US Kids Tournaments which he won and raised $3,000. Rafe has a passion for architecture, so he met with the Head of the Lower School, Mrs. Tobey and the decision was made that future monies would go towards the new school building.
