Youngsters bowled over gang of gals in Noida. "The game is so cool. I get a chance to flaunt in front of my friends by updating live scores on Facebook," says Abhishek Singh, whose group was engrossed in the game.
PRECAUTIONS MUST
BEFORE YOU BEGIN The weight of the ball varies and the lightest ball is around 8 kg. Go with the weight that you are comfortable with. Bowl with different weight balls at the bowling alley until you find the weight that is right for you. If you are right handed, step with your right foot first as you go down the lane. End with your left foot as you release the ball. This will assure proper balance. As you release the ball, bend your knees as much as you
comfortably can. This can help you control the ball. The bowling alleys are oiled, so the balls pick up oil as they roll down the lanes. To keep your ball dry, use the towel and powder available each time before you roll the ball. "Many new bowlers make the mistake of turning their wrists, and their balls turn toward the gutter and land up hurting their wrist. So, try to keep your wrist as straight as possible," adds Sharma.
The weight of the ball should be comfortable for your body weight. Since the alley is slippery, bowling shoes are must. Shoes are provided by the alley at minimal rental charges ranging from Rs 25 to Rs 50. Be careful, not to twist your wrist. And mark your steps while you bowl and avoid being embarrassed by a slip!
