MORGAON GANPATI TEMPLE

he idol is believed to be "Swayambhu" as was found or not sculpted by human hands. Morgaon is at the distance of 64 kms from Pune. One can go to Morgaon via Saswad or from Solapur highway. This is also known as Shri Mayureshwar. The temple was built in 14th century by Moraya Gosavi. According to the legend, Ganpati took birth as Mayureshwar riding a peacock to kill Sindhu, who was son of Chakrapani, who had got power by worshipping Surya and was attacking gods and had imprisoned them. This is the place where head of Sindhu fell. It is believed that one should start the "Ashtavinayak" yatra from Morgaon.

PASHAN LAKE

ashan Lake is a manmade lake, built by bunding a small rivulet (Ram nadi). The rivulet originates from Bavdhan and flows via Pashan,
Sutarwadi, Baner to Someshwarwadi before flowing into the main Mula river. The Pashan Biodiversity Park has also been proposed by the PMC. The land of 200 hectors is owned by State government and runs along a hillock. The hillock has variable flat and dome shaped topography much of which is formed by rocky, strata with a small layer of soil. Pashan lake is a natural habitat of many birds, including the migratory bird species. It is a popular spot for bird watchers.
t is situated on the north-east of the Khadakvasala Lake. The bay derives its name from the abundance of peacocks found in the area. Besides peacocks, there are other fauna such as deer, liontailed monkeys and civets. This bay hosts colorful events and competitions of the National Defence Academy. This picturesque bay provides complete training to the cadets and the facilities at the bay include an array of training equipments, sailing boats of all classes, speed boats, wind surfers, water skis, whalers, dinghies and cutters. Khadakvasala is 11 miles west of Pune.

t is a fortress located roughly 30 kilometres southwest of Pune. It is situated on a hill rising 800 metres above the surrounding countryside. Previously called Kondhana, the fort has been the site of many important battles, most notably the battle of Sinhagad in 1670.
