Diego said, “Of course not. Siyempre hindi, marami pa rin kaming ginawang proyekto ni Sofia Andres so no. Bakit naman ito magi-end?” He also clarified that the rumored breakup has nothing to do with Maris Racal. “That is something that is so not true. Pinalaki lang yan. Inigo (Pascual), Sofia, Maris, and I are very close friends. We talked about it of course and it’s sad na may gumawa pa nung ganung issue.” Diego stressed, “Walang naghiwalay. Hindi kami naghiwalay ni Sofia.” Diego was also asked “At 22, ano yung pinaka-mahalagang mistake na nagawa mo?” Diego said, “I think Tito Boy I’d like to rephrase it. I think the mistake I learned the most from was probably the issue that happened last year with my father and I. I think it’s a really big stepping stone. REFLECTIONS By Dr. Jun Vencer

Ayeka? – Dr Jun and Ann Vencer

T

he shortest question is often the most profound. After Adam and Eve sinned, they hid from God, the felt shame for their nakedness, and feared God. Sin and death entered the world. God visited the couple and called out to Adam: Where are you (Gen.3:9)? In Hebrew, the question is one word: ayeka. In its context, ayeka has serious ramifications. (1) God does not overlook sin. (2) God takes the initiative to restore broken relationships. (3) God cannot forgive unconfessed sins. (4) God offers hope by giving a Savior. Adam and Eve were driven out of the garden but not without hope. God promisedthat “the seed of the woman shall bruised the head of the serpent” (Gen. 3:15), a messiah. He was to be conceived of a virgin (Isa. 7:14), born in Bethlehem (Mic. 5:2), and his name is Immanuel Jesus (Matt. 1:23,25).

P 24

After their sin, Adam and Eve where expelled from the garden, away from the tree of life (Gen. 3:22,24). But before the expulsion, God, in grace, clothed the couple with skin of animal. This would require the death of an animal and the shedding of its blood to provide covering for the nakedness of man and woman after sin. This led to the institution of the Sacrificial system under Moses and ultimately to the final sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross for the salvation of repentant sinners and who would receive Jesus as their Savior, once and for all (Jn. 1:12; Heb. 9:27). The Gospel of Luke in particular speaks of Jesus as the universal and only Savior and Redeemer. Luke, unlike Matthew who traced the genealogy of Jesus from Abraham (Matt. 1), traced the genealogy of Jesus from Adam (Lk. 3:38). Jesus came not just for the

ARTISTA WINNIPEG JANUARY 2018 ISSUE

Jews but for the Gentiles also. Luke’s Gospel was international, intercultural, interracial, and interlingual. This is good news. Every moment is kairos(right time) for anyone to believe in Jesus and be saved – free from guilt, forgiven of sins, a new beginning and beyond death, access to the tree of life in the new heaven and the new earth (Rev. 22:1-3). Ayekais also an auditing question for us.How did we fare in 2017 compared to 2016? (1) In our family, did we demonstrate more love and patiencewith respect to our spouse and our children? (2) In our church, did we attend services more regularly, give more to His work, attend more prayer meetings, and got more involved in activities to contribute to the extension of His Kingdom?(3) In our work places, did we manifest the presence of God with our words and deeds so that Christ is heard and seen through us? (4) In our personal growth, did we spend more time in prayer, in attending prayer meetings, in studying His Word, in teaching His Word to others? Are our hands washed with the blood of men and women? And so 2017 was and 2018 is! The Word of God challenges us again and again:I will do something new(Isa. 43:19). This prospect of newnessinvites

us to live life in its fulness for the Lord. What areas of improvement are we going to trust God with and to work harder for? What spiritual disciplines need we continue or pursue so that we become more Christlike and a blessing to our family, church and circle of influence? What destiny awaits us?Paul said, “forgetting all things that are behind are reaching forth unto those things that are new ….” (Phil 3:13-14). Transformed by the Word to transform others for the Lord. A blessed New Year. Dr. Jun Vencer is the President of Global Transformation Ministries Inc., a member body Global DAWN

Why Angelica Panganiban considers February 14 as ‘Araw ng mga Patay’

V

Angelica Panganiban reveals reason why she dislikes remembering Valentine’s Day.

alentine’s Day brings painful memories to Angelica Panganiban. The actress admitted that she dislikes remembering February 14 because of a particular agonizing event that transpired last year. “Kalendaryo? Ayokong tinitingnan ‘to eh lalo na yung Araw ng mga Patay, alam mo kung kailan ‘yun? February 14, Valentines, malungkot talaga. At tsaka nong February 14 nagulat na lang ako non eh last year, okay naman kami tapos bakit iba yung ka-date niya, she said in an interview with Jhai Ho in the online show Wheel Talk on Friday. Angelica did not reveal the name of the man she was talking about, but many netizens believed that it was John Lloyd Cruz. The actress last dated John Lloyd where they were even spotted at an art fair in February last year, which sparked rumors that they were getting back together. “Pero tinganngap ko pa rin kasi dati mahal, ngayon sinusumpa,” she added. Nonetheless, Angelica stressed that she already managed to pick herself up ever since she broke up with the guy. The actress also underwent a lie detector challenge during the show. When asked by Jhai Ho if she still gets hurt whenever she sees her ex and the latter’s

new partner on Instagram, Angelica replied, “Hindi, kasi hindi ko tinitingnan, hindi ko sila fino-follow tsaka naka-block sila.”
