Kris Aquino reveals air date of her new TV project
A
fter her brief hiatus from TV, Kris Aquino gave some hints on her Instagram that she’s finally making a comeback. She shared photos from her new travel show “Trip Ni Kris” and used the hashtag “#March262017” that seems to be the program’s airing date. The Queen of All Media didn’t reveal which network her new project will be launching. “I’m nervous for this new project, new journey, new team to work with, new places to explore – but I’m prepared because my new steps are being taken wearing beautiful shoes,” she wrote. So far, Kris has visited Cabanatuan City and Minalungao National Park in Nueva Ecija. “I missed this work, I missed meeting new people, and learning about their lives – most of all I missed the smiles that greeted me every time I was taping on location... My months away from TV work taught me to truly be grateful for today and thank God and thank all of you for the blessing of living and loving my life.”
Why Sarah took a break from ‘The Voice’ - and why she’s back
M
ANILA – After announcing her return to “The Voice of the Philippines” return as a mentor via the show’s first teen edition, Sarah Geronimo is looking forward to bringing her A game in searching for the most deserving talented teenager. In an interview with ABS-CBN News’ MJ Felipe, Geronimo admitted that she took a break from the talent show after none from her team made it to the finals during the second season of “The Voice Kids.” “Pressure po talaga. Kailangan ko mag-break. Siyempre meron din effect ‘yon. Magpapakaimpokrito naman po ako kung [sasabihin kong] walang effect ‘yon sa akin. Medyo tumama din ‘yon sa akin,” she said. After resting for one season, Geronimo decided to come back and be more discerning of how things can turn out in a competition. “We all want to win, as coaches.

Pero ‘yong realidad, hindi all the time mananalo ka. Matatalo at matatalo ka. [But] this is not about me. This is for the artist, for the teens,” she said. Coming into the competition, Geronimo hopes to find someone with a new sound with a touch of what she has been constantly looking for in an artist. “Baka combination kasi ganun tayong mga Pinoy, hindi mawawala talaga ‘yung birit-birit. Pero ako, gusto ko makahanap talaga ng may originality, ‘yung hindi takot maging iba,” she said. Will she actively look for one who could be the “new Sarah”? “Hindi ako naniniwala sa ganun. Gerald holds fun run to celebrate birthday
M
ANILA – Gerald Anderson is turned 28 on March 7 and what better way to celebrate it than by holding a run, an activity which he is very much into lately. The event also served as his sendoff before he flies to the United States to participate in the Los Angeles Marathon. “To be sponsored and to have something like this, it will inspire other people. Sabi ko nga, when you reach a certain level of success, the only way you can give back is to send a ladder down for other people. ‘Yun ang pinaka-

Asked how he feels now that it’s only a few weeks before his biggest race, Anderson said: “I’m very nervous but motivated din and inspired kasi, you know, you have to surround yourself with people who also motivate you and also bring you to another level.” Anderson is also the lead star of the upcoming ABS-CBN series “Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin” where he plays a triathlete.

Kris Bernal renews her exclusive contract with GMA Network
M
ulti-talented actress Kris Bernal remains a loyal Kapuso as she renewed last March 7 her exclusive contract with GMA Network, Inc. Kris, one of the Network’s top leading ladies, was discovered in the fourth season of the reality-based artista search Starstruck. After almost ten years of being a Kapuso, Kris has been blessed with numerous projects that showcased her versatility and talent and the Network is proud to have her as one of its home-grown artists. She feels grateful for her strong relationship with GMA through the years, “Eto yung gusto ng puso ko, kung saan ako kumportable, where I feel complete, where I’m satisfied and contented. I’m very thankful na nandito pa rin ako at binigyan ulit ako ng chance.” Present in the contract-signing were GMA Films President Annette M. Gozon, GMA Senior Vice President for Entertainment Lilybeth G. Rasonable, GMA Artist Center Assistant Vice President and Head for Talent Imaging and Marketing Unit Simoun Ferrer, and GMAAC Talent Manager Tracy Garcia. After her commendable portrayal of a woman with learning disability in Lit-
tle Nanay, GMA once again entrusted Kris with another challenging project as she topbills the remake of the successful TV series Impostora where she will play a dual character. “Masaya ako dahil ang gandaganda ng project na binigay nila sa akin, yung Impostora. Dito talaga ako mahahasa, at mag-go-grow. Ito na siguro yung pinakachallenging character para sa akin. Sobrang hirap din nung sa Little Nanay pero at least dun, isa lang ang role ko. Eto kasi sa Im-
postora, pabago-bago ako, hindi lang sa acting, sa pananamit din, may prosthetics pa ako and iba’t-ibang makeup at look.” Meanwhile, Rasonable has nothing but good words for Kris and she is pleased that Kris continues to affirm her loyalty to GMA, “Kris started out with our Network, and we’re happy all the time kapag ang ating mga naumpisahang artista na nag-grow with us, dinevelop natin, ay patuloy na nananatili dito sa Network. Ito ang kanilang tahanan, and we’re happy that they continue to be with us.” The GMA executive further reveals that Kris’ upcoming project will hone her more as a dramatic actress, “She’s doing a soap now. This is going to be a very challenging soap for her kasi she’s playing
two starkly different characters so talagang it will be an acting challenge for her. So far, we’ve seen the rushes and she’s doing excellently.”

The show aims to deliver awareness and public information to the viewers in order to prevent crime.

ase Solved features sensational and controversial real-life cases ranging from non-aggressive to violent circumstances derived from Philippines’ Supreme Court Reports Annotated (SCRA) handled by the country’s National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Philippine National Police (PNP), International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), judicial agencies like the Department of Justice (DOJ), Supreme Court and Bureau of Corrections. How Gerald Anderson, JakeCuenca fared in their first Ironman
M
ANILA -- It was a frustrating debut for Kapamilya actors Gerald Anderson and Jake Cuenca who joined the Ironman 70.3 in Subic Sunday for the first time. Anderson’s team was ranked number one overall for the all men’s relay category but were later disqualified. Anderson said he didn’t know that he was supposed to serve his penalty at the penalty tent because he was stopped and carded by a marshal during the bike course for drafting violation. This resulted in their disqualification even if they finished first. Cuenca, for his part, suffered a flat tire at the 70-kilometer mark of the 90-km bike leg although he still finished. Switzerland’s Ruedi Wild set up an epic comeback in the final third of the race to win the 2017 edition of the Century Tuna-sponsored event. The two actors, who are playing triathletes in the upcoming series “Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin” with Kim Chiu, said they both learned from their first time in Ironman, as the promised to do better in their next Ironman race. Cuenca is already preparing for his next Ironman race in Cebu, while Anderson is flying to the US on Monday to participate in the Los Angeles marathon. -- Report from Gretchen Fullido, ABSCBN News

REFLECTIONS By Dr. Jun Vencer
J
GOD’S SPECIAL POWER OF ATTORNEY
esus said, “You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it” (Jn. 14:14).John writes that“whatever we ask in accordance with His will, He hears … so we know that we have what we asked of him” (1 Jn. 5:14,15). Anything? Whatever? Anytime? Anywhere? This sounds like prayer unlimited! In insurance term, this is comprehensive coverage. Of course God’s coverage is more than comprehensive since it includes our physical, financial, emotional, intellectual and spiritual needs. But why is it that many of our prayers and petitions are not answered? As someone said, God gave us a blank check and it bounced. Did not the writer of Hebrews say that it is “impossible for God to lie” (Heb. 6:18)? Is God playing a cruel joke on us? But since God will never do that, what then does anything or whatever mean? Is God’s capacity to answer prayers limited after all? But how can anyone put a limit on God since with God nothing is impossible (Lk. 1:37)? Are there conditions sine qua non before God answers prayers? God’s promises are circumscribed by His Word. In this sense, some seemingly unlimited promises have limitations. He cannot act contrary to His holy nature and perfect will. In other words, “whoever” is not everyone and “anything” is not everything. Not to recognize this can lead to doubt or disappointment. Let me give an illustration. The President of a Construction Corporation instructed an employee to repair the plumbing system of a customer who called up and added “call me for anything you need.”

On the way,the employee remembered what his President told him to “call me for anything.” The employee called his boss and asked for a new house and lot. Is this what the President meant by “ “anything you need”? Or did the President mean, though not explicit, that the anything refers to that which the employee needs to accomplish the repair of a defective plumbing system? In other words, the anything of God, refers to anything that will help us accomplish what He commands us to do. The promise of God in John 14:14 is qualified by “ask in My name” that the “Father be glorified in the Son” (vv13,14). Often, we give God our “want list” and say “in Jesus’s name, amen.” Another qualifier is given by Paul, “My God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:19). We take notice that the supply is guaranteed for our needs not our wants. God’s promise is a Power of Attorney to use His resources for His purposes. But the promise is not a General Power of Attorney but a Special Power of Attorney for a specific transaction. A policeman has power (gun) and authority (badge) but he can exercise themonly within the law. B. J. Whillhite, aided by his Greek Lexicon, said that meaning of the text in effect is “Whatever you ask by My command and authority, acting in My behalf, for the advancement of My kingdom, I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” God cannot answer prayers when offered at the altar of greed and self-centeredness. However, we cannot engage in paralysis of analysis, and wait until we complete our definitive list of what is and is not God’s will, what He will answer and will not answer. With His Word as our guide, let us be persistent in prayer. Let us earnestly present to God our cares and cry out to Him for mercy until our eyes are like rivers of tears. Our hope is in the fact that He is our heavenly Father who loves us and will provide for all our needs. The promises of God are yes in Christ (2 Cor. 1:19). Amen. Hands up if you can relate to this?” According to them the first stage is the delaying tactics, followed by bargaining, anger, hating your life, and lastly, finishing strong.
