ROADMAP TO GODLINESS

ow can one live a godly life? The answer is that one must have the life of God in him or her. He must be in communion with God. The problem is that man is separated from God by inheritance, by birth and by choice (Ps. 51:5). This separation is spiritual death due to sin. The Bible says that all have sinned (Rom. 3:23). Sinning is the human default. Unless sin is forgiven and its penalty is paid for, no one can be godly. He will remain a slave of Satan and sin and live in darkness rather than in the light of God. All is not lost. God who is rich in grace and mercy provided the way for us to be godly and to live a life that is abundant and heavenward. Those who are spiritually dead must have a new birth or be born again by the Spirit of God through Jesus Christ. He offers the gift of salvation in place of separation because of His love for sinners (Jn. 3:16). Let me suggests 7 A’s as

our roadmap to godliness. A –acknowledge sin in our lives. To be forgiven of sins, one must confess he is a sinner. Why will one need a Savior if one is not a sinner? A-abandon sin. It is not enough to acknowledge sin. It is important that one stops sinning. This is the first step in true repentance. A –accept Jesus as Savior and Lord. But who is this Jesus that one must accept or receive (Jn. 1:12). To accept Christ as Savior means that we truly believe that He is God who became man and that He died for our sins. With His death He paid the death penalty of our sins. He also defeated Satan to deliver believers from the domain of ungodliness. It is not enough then that one stops sinning but he must turn around toward God through Jesus and be born again by the Holy Spirit. A-abandon control of your life.

When one accepts Jesus, he is indwelt by the Spirit and marked as God’s own. His body becomes the temple of God. He is now a new creature, God’s workmanship. Relinquish control of your life to the Holy Spirit who will guide and give power to live a godly life. A-appreciate the gifts of God. These gifts can refer to the gifts of the Spirit as spiritual enabling or empowerment to serve Him. I believe it includes God’s providential care for all our needs and protection from harm and danger. It includes the fruits of the spirits that manifest our spiritual growth towards Christlikeness. A – abide in the Word of God. Accepting Jesus as Savior does not make believers perfect in the here and now. As Martin Luther once said, saints but sinners still. Christians are not sinless but they sin less and less. To live a joyful godly life one must live in sync with the Holy Bible, the Word of God. But he must be filled with the Holy Spirit to abide in the Word for without God we can do nothing to please Him. A – ascribe glory to the God in all that you do. Psalm 96 in magnificently expresses this ascription of Glory to God: Ascribe to the Lord, o families of nations, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. As-

cribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering and come into his courts. Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness …. (7-9a). Do you wish to live a godly life? Yeng Constantino

osephine “Yeng” Constantino was born December 4, 1988 and is a Filipina pop-rock singer and host. She won as “Grand Star Dreamer” of Pinoy Dream Academy, over ABS-CBN Network. Yeng as she is popularly called in the showbiz world is youngest among the Constantino siblings. Her sibling’s name was Donna, Jocelyn, Nano and Cookie, and her parents were Susan and Lito Constantino. Yeng’s being the grand winner of Pinoy Dream Academy opened great doors for her as she was immediately launched a debut album entitled Salamat, which contained 10 songs, 7 of which are all Yengs original compositions. The album got the Gold Award in a matter of two weeks after its release and turned Platinum after a month. It became a three times Platinum Record after several months in the market. In 2008, her second album was entitled ‘Journey” was eventu-

ally launched, and it has a carrier single “Ikaw Lang Talaga.” Because of the unsurpassable success of the two albums, a third album was digitally released on 2009 after it was pulled out because of some technical errors; the album also reached a Platinum award. Her fifth studio album was entitled Metamorphosis, and was released on January 28, 2013, and its first single “B.A.B.A.Y.” was released commercially in January 2013.The second single was released on May24 entitled ‘Chinito,” and the third single “Sandata” was released on July 3, 2013. Yeng was also endorsing different products such as Globe Telecom, Penshoppe, and Globe Asiatique. She had also received an award as a Favorite New Artist Nominee by Myx Music Awards 2007. Yeng had officially announced that she is in a relationship with non-showbiz boyfriend Victor Asuncion. He used to be a member of a band but is currently working as a worship director at Victory Christian Church in Greenhills, Philippines. It was in June 18 that they became a couple. She prayed hard for this that God grants her prayer in His own sweet time and to a perfect person. It was worth the wait she says. Her parents approve of him and they told her to just take it slow and easy. Yeng admits that the one thing she was attracted to him was because he was a God-fearing man like her. The surprising thing that they had discovered is that she is also Victor’s first girlfriend just like he was his first boyfriend. Yeng is still busy with her singing career, guesting and hosting different events and shows. Kris Aquino to start shooting for her iFlix horror movie

Paulo Avelino reveals the most difficult scene he shot in ‘Goyo’ Paulo Avelino talks about working on the much-awaited historical epic.

part from working on the teleserye Asintado, Paulo Avelino said he is excited for people to see his latest historical epic Goyo where he plays the role of Pinoy hero Gregorio del Pilar. “We shot in different locations but basically all over Luzon. May Ilocos, Tarlac, Zambales, Batangas, Bulacan, ang dami eh,” he shared during the Berocca press conference held last March 6 in Taguig city. One of the most challenging scenes for Paulo required him to act underwater which he is normally comfortable with. “I love being in the water. Kahit planggana nga lang na may tubig masaya na ako eh. Pero mahirap kasi kailangan mong lumubog sa ilalim at mag-panic at siyempre sa triathlon gumagalaw ka sa ilalim ng tubig at lumulubog ka, medyo mahirap kasi wala kang hangin. Yun lang yung tricky part. Buhay pa naman ako (laughs). Without doing anything under water I can probably hold my breath for a minute and 30 seconds to two minutes, ganun. When you panic kasi yun yung required sa eksena medyo mahirap na. Yun yung isa sa mahirap sa eksena sa Goyo,” he shared. The Berocca celebrity ambassador said their out-of-town shoot was also a different kind of challenge altogether. “Madaming mahirap na scene, yung mga

Apart from Goyo, Paulo is also busy filming Kasal with Bea Alonzo and Derek Ramsay. “Malapit na rin matapos yung film. I think it’s coming out either late this quarter or early next quarter so malapit na rin. The film shows a very modern relationship. Laging with complications pero ito medyo iniba lang nila ng konti.
