MYRIAD ELEPHANT DASH

PAUL HOLLYFELD - 4

This stout pours black and makes an ample caramel colored head, with a mesmerizing cascade of bubbles. There are strong notes of coffee on the nose. The coffee continues onto the palate and has a sweet, creamy finish. If you are a fan of a sweet stout, this one will not disappoint - and neither will the 7.2% ABV.

PAUL BRAGIN - 5

A thick tan head grows on this opaque stout and dissipates gradually. Sweetness from the roasted malt dominates the scent. More malt sweetness continues with the first taste, followed by roasted malt in the finish. People who enjoy stouts will want to drink this Evansville offering. Pair it with a charcuterie tray, roasted meats, your favorite chocolate desserts or add a scoop of your favorite ice cream to the beer for an adult float.

JABEZ MARTINEZ - 4.5

I would almost gave this milk stout a five but I leave that number to a select few. I truly love beers you can't see through. It has an ABV of 7.2% and comes in a 16oz can. I like the rich smooth flavors and I pick up a hint of brown sugar - but not much. I enjoy the coffee and chocolate flavors, too. And it is local! Good job, Myriad.

56 | MARCH 2022

PAUL HOLLYFELD - 4.25

Pours slightly hazy and golden with a quickly disappearing head. This has aromas of citrus on the nose. On the palate is a hint of citrus, a subtle hop bitterness, and light maltiness. Very balanced and very drinkable. Another winner for the light craft beer market with 110 calories and 4% ABV.

PAUL BRAGIN - 3.5

A thick white head rests on this wheat beer when poured into a wheat beer glass and evaporates slowly. A burst of wheat fills the nose, followed by the faint presence of fruity hop aromas. Carbonation hits the tongue with the first taste, followed by crisp wheat flavor. The combination of light body and low alcohol makes this wheat beer a great choice. Pair it with brunch, baked fish, a hamburger, spicy ramen or avocado toast.

JABEZ MARTINEZ - 4

This is a hazy, golden-colored beer. It's a low-calorie beer of 110 calories. A Blue Moon has 170. Since it's a light beer, it's a little weak on the wheat flavor but I sort of expected that. It also has an ABV of 4% so this would be more of a summer beer to drink outside. It's sessionable and has a light hops flavor but not much.

NEW BELGIUM VOODOO RANGER AGENT 77 IPA

PAUL HOLLYFELD - 4.25

This pours a hazy yellow with very little head. On the nose you find floral notes, grapefruit and maybe a hint of stone fruit. On the palate the grapefruit comes through, with a hint of lemon. The bitterness is a little more pronounced, as one would expect from an IPA. On the finish I noticed a touch of melon as well. At 7.7% ABV, this is not a sessionable beer, but worth having at least one

PAUL BRAGIN - 4.5

A substantial white head forms on this cloudy IPA and takes time to disappear. A good amount of citrus from the hops controls the scent profile. More citrus comes through with the tasting, followed by hop bitterness and additional citrus in the long finish. IPA aficionados will want to drink this. Pair it with fish and salads that are heavy on citrus flavors, spicy foods or cheeses such as pepper jack, Gorgonzola, Limburger or Cheddar.

JABEZ MARTINEZ - 4.5

This is a slightly hazy yellow beer with an ABV of 7.7%. I enjoy the citrus flavors. This is very drinkable - I have a feeling it might sneak up on you. It does have the bitterness I find with most IPAs but it's not overbearing. There aren't many New Belgium beers I don't like and this one didn't disappoint.
