The Branson Auction
October 12 & 13, 2012 Branson Convention Center Branson, Missouri
Welcome
Now that we are well into the third decade of the Branson Auction and with Kathy and me experiencing our 25th year of ownership it gives us the opportunity to look back on some of the highlights. As we discussed all of the various challenges of the business the one common thread was the joy of discovery. That quintessential “Barn Find”. While the truth of the matter is that “we” don’t find “them” but that “they” find “us”. Who was it that said “When opportunity meets the prepared mind?” We always have our ears open to the many leads that we get from sources you would never imagine and the thrill of bringing a heretofore unknown example of a desirable piece of automotive history to the car collecting enthusiasts is not only a real treat for us, but usually results in a generous reward for the discovery.
Our Auction Venue
The Hilton-Branson Convention Center at the Branson Landing is a stunning 220,000 square-foot facility that not only grants us an elegant new showcase for our seller’s automobiles, but accords our guests, bidders and consignors unparalleled waterfront shopping, dining and entertainment within walking distance at the new “Branson Landing,” overlooking Lake Taneycomo. The new Hilton Hotel at the Convention Center is also our Host Hotel.
For Reservations, call 800-445-8667 or book online at bransonauction.com and click on the Hilton Hotel link.
If you hear of something that sounds a bit off the beaten path, lets us know, we love to get involved bringing these treasures to a new light and sharing in the discovery with the thousands of friends we have come to know over these years.

This is a beautiful and striking example of one of Auburn’s rarest body styles. Though the car was initially restored in the 80’s, it has been maintained and upgraded over the years. The restoration efforts have been very loyal to originality and the car has been used as a ‘reference’ for other award winning Auburn restorations. The car starts easily and runs beautifully. The engine has strong oil pressure and maintains proper coolant temperature. Everything is in working order – this car is ready for touring or the show circuit! 1956 Lincoln MKII
Ford wanted a superior and standalone up market brand aside from Lincoln to compete with General Motors’ Cadillac and Chrysler Corporation’s Imperial brands. The Continental was not intended to be the largest nor the most powerful automobile rather the most luxurious and elegant American car available, designed to recapture the spirit of the great classics of the prewar period-with prices to match. The MKII’s inspiration was the celebrated V12-powered Lincoln Continental of the 1940s among the most notable cars of that War-interrupted decade. Most of the car was hand built to an exacting standard, including the application of multiple coats of paint, hand sanding, double lacquering and polishing to perfection. 1,300 cars were built in 1956, some with factory installed air conditioning. Keith Urban has joined the ranks of the rich and famous that has owned one of these hand built Lincolns. Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, the Shah of Iran are but a few that have had the benefit of owning one of these beautiful post war classics. Now you too can join the ranks of the elite. This car comes directly to Branson Auction from the garage and collection of Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman. Keith has an affinity to the large American designed and built automobiles; this has been one of his favorites.

1966 ERA GT The Ford GT40 was an amalgamation of British-American design and development that won the 24 hours of Le Mans 4 times. The initial results were less than stellar, however, Henry Ford was determined and he knew a fellow named Carroll Shelby. The rest, as they say, is a wonderful chapter in automotive history. ERA has been manufacturing kits of legendary cars in New Britain, Connecticut since 1981 and is well known for their attention to detail and dedication to the originals they duplicate. This ERA GT emulates the true intent of the GT nomenclature by being a true touring, or “street legal” automobile as well as being “track ready” for club meets that include the epitome of top of the line horsepower and handling. It’s not for someone who’s shy. It features a one of a kind power plant that begins with a 351 Ford block covered with Gurney Eagle racing heads and topped off by 4 very large Weber carburetors. It was all assembled by an engineerdesigner-inventor of some note who was dedicated to perfection. The result is stellar, the opportunity awesome.

1954 Jaguar XK 120
“Barn Finds”
The very first Jaguar XK 120 was introduced at the 1948 London Motor Show and it was a sensation being the first sporting car produced since the war and the brainchild of Jaguar owner and design boss William Lyons. The very first customer car produced was delivered to movie legend Clark Gable. The “120” is in reference to it’s acclaimed and proven top speed of 120 MPH making it the fastest production car in the world in 1949. Production of the 120 continued into 1954 when it was succeeded by the XK140, 150 and finally in 1961 with the XKE. This XK120 has been in hiding for about 20 years in a very comfortable basement garage. Just prior to it’s hibernation the engine and entire drive-train had been re-built. Upon it’s re-commissioning earlier this year the same engineer/ mechanic found the task simplistic and the results excellent. Now it’s ready for a new owner and either a sympathetic restoration or a full on Concours restoration knowing the mechanical platform is sound.
1935 Packard
CLUB SEDAN
Series 1201 with the 320 cubic inch straight 8 engine producing 130 horsepower with a roller cam and Stromberg carburetor, driving through a 3 speed transmission with synchromesh and stopping with the famous Packard brakes. This was the “New Look Packard with the slanted grill, rear hinged doors and optional side mounted spares. The Branson Auction Team truly enjoyed the process of bringing this beautiful car back to life and the car itself responded extremely well considering it’s long term storage. The only major item in it’s re-commissioning was replacement of the radiator core. Other than a thorough cleaning of the fuel system including the tank all other service was completely normal. And, it drives like it looks, stately and beautiful. 12
1931 Ford MODEL A ROADSTER
The first Model A was sold on December 2nd, 1927 and that sale marked the end of the 18 year run of the venerable Model T. As successful as the T had been, in only 4 short years of production Ford sold over four million of the A Model. The Model A you see here is of that final year of production and was the most desirable of all the 30 or so various body styles. A true roadster with rumble seat, 40 HP 4 cylinder and a 3 speed. Driver quality and Ford dependable.

1957 Chevrolet BEL AIR CUSTOM CONVERTIBLE Award-winning design and craftsmanship permeate this tantalizing LT1-powered 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible. Finished in brilliant Red contrasted by a Tan top and gorgeous custom interior, this fabulous machine has won awards for Pick of Show, Best Interior, Best Workmanship and more at such venues as the Super Chevy and CCI Classic Chevy Club shows.
1956 Chevrolet BEL AIR CUSTOM A great piece of local history follows this beautifully restored 1956 Chevrolet Coupe. The most interesting part about this car is the fact that it has never left the Ozarks since it was on the showroom floor in 1956. The car was purchased in 56 in Carthage Missouri and spent most of its life there being enjoyed by the original owners. In the 1990s the car was sold at an estate sale after the original owners passed away, and was then sold to the current owners that reside in Aurora Missouri. The car was brought home with the factory six cylinder three speed, but soon after with 73,000 miles on the car it was torn down to the frame and received a ground up restoration plus some. The car received a new big block 454 Chevrolet engine with a TH400 transmission. The entire car was stripped and repainted inside and out. A beautiful Camaro Teal Metallic was chosen for paint. The frame had also been powder coated to match the body color. A new interior was installed, along with disc brakes, new exhaust, power steering, and a Dakota digital instrument cluster finishes it off. A true and well done Ozark Classic Car. 16

Other options include: GT equipment, visibility group, sport deck rear seat, power steering, power front disc brakes, tilt away, AM radio, deluxe interior décor, adjustable Konis front and rear and Lucas FT8 fog lamps.
1968 Shelby GT350
Another mystery solved! It happens quite often actually, when cruising through the Shelby Registry (yes, some people do that) you run across that comment “Present owner not known”. But now we know. Shelby 03084 has come forward after more than 20 years of relatively obscure ownership and this beautiful, unmolested GT350 Convertible is being offered for sale at auction. When new it was delivered to Treadwell Ford in Mobile, Alabama and they sold the car to Howard Johnston on October 21st of 1968. It was properly kept until 1976 when it was sold to Richard Lytle in Ohio who hung on to it until 1992 when it found a home for the next 20+ years with it’s current owner. Times and priorities change, and that creates the opportunity to own a 3 owner Shelby. That doesn’t happen very often. You should know the rest, but just in case; High performance 302 V-8 producing 250 HP with 10.5 Compression at 4,800 RPM. In 1968 only 404 GT350 convertibles were produced. Select-o-matic transmission- option, Power disc brakes- option, Power steering, Leather, tinted glass and more. A great opportunity to own a beautiful legend you can drive. 20

1970 Shelby GT350
The final year....1970 For many aficionados of the Mustang the styling of the 1969 to 73 era is the most elegant. The wide grill combined with all the scoops in the fiberglass hood and the unmistakable rear view, plus the unique front bumper, and for 1970 the black stripes and chin spoiler all combined to make a most distinctive impact. Actually, 1969 was the last year for the Shelby Mustang and those that had not yet sold were simply re-tagged as ‘1970’ when sold to dealer #84-999, the Shelby Automotive Company. All were built under District Special Order (DSO) with the special 6 digit codes. Only 636 Shelby Mustangs were sold for 1970, and of that number only 194 were GT 350 Convertibles, making them the rarest of the entire Shelby production. The rarity of this particular car is matched only by the painstakingly accurate restoration it received. The quality of the craftsmanship, combined with the excellent overall condition makes it a Shelby of real value.
