Swim Abilities program is for participants with special needs. While this program uses the progressions in the Lifesaving Society Swim for Life program, the performance criteria for each level have been broken down into smaller, more manageable progressions to create a positive learning environment and make the success of each swimmer more achievable. The progressions have been created to progress swimmers with special needs slowly and at their own rate while adapting the program according to their abilities and needs.

TRY A TRIATHLON TRAINING

Craving a new challenge? Want to try a triathlon this year? (or you’ve done a triathlon before, and things have been hectic and you’re not in the shape you used to be). Don’t worry! We’ll take you from your starting point to the start line.

A triathlon is a single race where you’ll swim, bike and run. It may seem intimidating at first, but this program will cover the basics, and provide you with confidence, knowledge, skills, and a training plan individually tailored to your experience, fitness level, and goals. Complete a mini triathlon in the final session. Please meet in MPR 104 for your first class, as we will be utilizing multiple spaces in the BSRC. The instructor will give you an itinerary for each class.

WORKSHOP HOW TO SAFELY RETURN TO EXERCISE POSTPARTUM

Motherhood is an incredibly physically demanding time of our lives (lifting car seats/children, feeding babies/kids, changing/clothing) and we all benefit from feeling strong and capable in motherhood. We undergo many physical/mental/emotional changes postpartum and the way we think and engage in exercise or movement likely requires a shift in mindset to accommodate the current stage of life we are in. This 1.5 hour course will start off with a presentation and discussion about all things exercise and postpartum including: tissue recovery/ healing timelines, pelvic health and core restoration, how to safely start exercising, injury prevention and much more. The second portion of the course will be active where you will be led through a full body resistance training program with a focus on core/pelvic floor connection. Participants will leave the course with a print out of the exercise program so they are able to continue the program independently. Bonus this is a great way to meet other Mom’s in the community!

CLASS INTENSITY LEVELS:

All of our classes are designed to offer different intensity levels to suit the fitness needs of our entire community! While classes are rated more or less intense, do note that our certified instructors skillfully offer modifications to our fitness classes to adapt to varying fitness levels and physical limitations.

RPE – Rate of Perceived Exertion is based on a scale of 1-10. Rate of perceived exertion is a measure of effort level. A rating of 1 is rest or extremely light exercise, 2-5 ratings reflect easy-moderate exercise, 6-7 is moderate to hard, and a rating of 8-10 is vigorous exercise.

LOW INTENSITY: RPE: 2-5- classes rated as low intensity typically use low impact movements. You are still comfortable performing exercises while challenging yourself, and you can carry a conversation during class.

RPE - Rate of Perceived Exertion

MODERATE INTENSITY: RPE 6-8 – classes rated as moderate intensity use variations of both high and low impact exercises, also can be dependent on the participant’s preferred modifications. Comfort zones are pushed while you are starting to get short of breath and only maintain brief conversation.

HIGH INTENSITY: RPE 8-10 – classes rated as high intensity use variations of both high and low impact exercises reaching very difficult to maintain effort levels. This effort level will make you unable to maintain conversation, and leave you out of breath while pushing your limits!

At Sportball we have a “Rain or Shine” policy, coaches will be prepared to run classes no matter what the weather is like. We understand that in Beaumont weather can change on a dime, so please be ready to dress warmly, layer up and try to be prepared for ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS!

The only event we will not run classes in is if there is lightning in the vicinity or in the fields. In the event of lightning, our coaches will still be at the location waiting for an opportunity to run classes in case the lightning and thunder stops. Unfortunately, we also have a no refund policy and due to large classes, make ups may be hard to arrange for our outdoor soccer classes. If the weather does not permit us to play, classes will be cancelled, and coaches will call. We will keep our fingers crossed for nice weather will be upon us and we apologize in advance for any inconvenience this policy may cause!

Sportball is a non-competitive sport program for children. Children are taught the fundamental skills necessary to excel in soccer: throw-ins, dribbling, passing, goalie skills and more in a supervised, non-competitive environment.
