Binter es reconocida no solo por su orientación al cliente para ofrecer un servicio diferencial de calidad, sino por su compromiso con la sociedad canaria, apoyando y activando iniciativas en beneficio de los ciudadanos. Ejemplo de ello son dos convenios firmados recientemente con el Gobierno de Canarias para impulsar los traslados en avión de segmentos concretos de la población. Por un lado, hemos renovado el acuerdo que desde hace años mantenemos con la Consejería de Educación, Formación Profesional, Actividad Física y Deportes para facilitar el traslado de escolares entre las Islas, de forma que el alumnado menor de doce años pueda desplazarse en condiciones ventajosas con el fin de conocer distintas realidades socioculturales y aprender a respetar y valorar el patrimonio histórico, natural y cultural. El segundo convenio, denominado Canarias Se Mueve +55, ha sido firmado con la Consejería de Derechos Sociales, Igualdad, Diversidad y Juventud con el propósito de mejorar la calidad de vida de las personas mayores de cincuenta y cinco años en las Islas. Este tipo de acciones forman parte de la apuesta de la compañía para que este colectivo disfrute de las mayores facilidades posibles a la hora de viajar en la amplia red de destinos que ofrece la aerolínea. Les invito a adquirir estos paquetes de viaje, que incluyen alojamiento y excursiones y cuyas primeras salidas están previstas en noviembre y diciembre a Madrid.
Este mes de octubre es muy especial para nosotros porque cumplimos cinco años desde que inauguramos las rutas con Pamplona, Zaragoza y Murcia. Estas conexiones han sido un éxito desde su creación, permitiendo incrementar las relaciones y vínculos entre el Archipiélago y estas regiones. Durante este tiempo, en el que hemos ido aumentando las frecuencias semanales, han sido muchos los pasajeros que han confiado en el modo canario de volar de Binter.
Para finalizar, me gustaría mostrar nuestra satisfacción por haber recibido el premio Isla de Lanzarote 2024, que resalta la excelencia y la innovación dentro del sector turístico, reconociendo a las empresas y personas que han contribuido de manera significativa al desarrollo y promoción del turismo en la Isla.

Binter is renowned not only for its customer focus and service with a difference but also for its commitment to Canarian society through supporting and undertaking initiatives that benefit the community. Examples of this are two agreements signed recently with the government of the Canary Islands to promote air travel for specific segments of the population.
Firstly, we have renewed our longstanding agreement with the Canarian Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sport to offer favourable terms so that pupils under the age of twelve can travel between the islands and familiarise themselves with different sociocultural realities and learn to respect and appreciate historic, natural and cultural heritage.
The second agreement, called Canarias Se Mueve +55, was signed with the regional Ministry of Social Rights, Equality, Diversity and Youth and aims to improve the quality of life of persons aged over fifty-five in the Canaries. Actions of this kind are part of the company's commitment to facilitate travel as much as possible for this age group on the airline’s extensive network of destinations. I would invite you to sign up for these package tours, which include accommodation and excursions, with the first departures envisaged to Madrid in November and December.
The current month of October is very special for us because we are celebrating five years of our Pamplona, Zaragoza and Murcia routes. These flight connections have been a success since they were launched and they have helped enhance relations and links between the Canaries and the regions concerned. During this time the number of weekly flights operated has increased and passengers have availed themselves of Binter's ‘Canarian way of flying’ in large numbers, thus motivating us to continue to work further in this direction.
Lastly, I would like to reflect our satisfaction at receiving the 2024 Isla de Lanzarote Award for excellence and innovation in the tourism sector, which recognises companies and individuals who have made a significant contribution to the development and promotion of tourism in the island.

No todos los días un servidor tiene la oportunidad de entrevistar a un antiguo compañero de carrera, pero menos aún si se trata de alguien de la categoría de Javier Beirán (1987, Madrid), un jugador profesional de baloncesto que, como alero, ha pasado más de quince temporadas entre la ACB y ligas extranjeras, lo que le ha valido para ser considerado como uno de los jugadores españoles con mayor proyección en su carrera. Fue una pieza clave a la hora de ganar la medalla de oro con la selección española en la Copa del Mundo 2019. Y, como le sobraba tiempo mientras encestaba, también sacó la carrera de Administración y Dirección de Empresas y la de Periodismo. Actualmente Beirán juega al baloncesto en la modadalidad de 3x3 en verano y también hace colaboraciones en televisión relacionadas con su disciplina deportiva.

One rarely gets the chance to interview a classmate from one’s university days and much less so when that person is as famous as Javier Beirán (Madrid, 1987), a professional basketball player who has played as a small forward for over fifteen seasons both in Spain’s ACB League and abroad. He is considered to be one of the most accomplished Spanish players and was a key player in Spain’s 2019 World Championship winning team. Given that his hands were not full enough with scoring baskets, he found the time also to complete university degrees in business management and journalism. Beirán plays 3x3 basketball in summer these days and works as a basketball pundit on TV.
¿Qué cosas ignora el espectador o el aficionado de baloncesto? ¿Cómo se vive estando dentro de la cancha? Lo que más cuesta cuando no eres jugador o cuando lo ves de fuera es que los jugadores también son personas. Cuando yo estoy en mi campus con los niños les digo: «Si es que soy igual que vosotros. He tenido suerte por trabajo, por muchas cosas, he llegado a ser jugador profesional, pero vivo muchas cosas igual que vosotros, me pasan problemas, igual que a vosotros». Y muchas veces eso cuesta entenderlo. Machacamos muy fácil al jugador, al deportista que no ha conseguido ganar o jugar o rendir, etc.
¿Cuál es el partido que recuerda con más cariño? Tengo varios. Recuerdo cuando me lesioné, que no es al que más cariño le tengo, pero no me puedo olvidar porque me lesioné la rodilla cuando mejor estaba jugando y mejor iba el equipo, cuando jugaba en el Iberostar Tenerife. Eso me cambió un poco como deportista también, aunque ya tenía unos veintinueve años, en 2016.
What things is someone watching basketball or a fan not aware of? What’s it actually like being on court? What you don’t see if you are not a player or if you are watching from outside the court is that players are people too. In my coaching camp for children I tell them: “I am just like you. I have been lucky in terms of my job and many other things; I have made it as a professional player but I experience many things you do and problems happen to me just like you”. That can often be difficult to understand. We come down very hard on a player or an athlete who has not won, played or performed well, etc.
What game triggers fondest memories for you?
There are several. I remember the one where I got injured. While it is not the one I am fondest of, I can’t forget it because I injured my knee just as I was playing my best basketball and the team was doing great. I was at Iberostar Tenerife at the time. It also changed me a little as an athlete even though in 2016 I was already 29. It helped me develop on the personal level and I later made it to the World
Me ayudó mucho a crecer personalmente y a vivir después un Mundial y ser campeón del mundo. Recuerdo con más tensión las semis que la final, porque la final fue relativamente holgada, aunque era una final y siempre estás nervioso hasta que acaba el partido. Volviendo a la pregunta, me quedaría con el primer partido en el que representé a España; fue en Bielorrusia. Además, me salió un partidazo y lo guardo con mucho cariño.

El Mundial, a nivel general, ¿qué significó para usted? A veces pienso, por lo que supone, que no sé ni si soy consciente de lo que es ser campeón del mundo. Porque cuando jugué en Francia, por ejemplo, el año pasado, el cariño con el que me recibían o la expectación eran un plus más, como si tuvieras otro nombre o fueras un señor de otro planeta. Muchas veces, cuando voy a sitios en los que no están muy vinculados con el baloncesto y dicen «oye, este chico es campeón del mundo», ves cómo les cambia la cara. Y yo lo valoro, lógicamente, ¿cómo no voy a valorar ser campeón del mundo? Pero quizás no valoro tanto lo que supone que lo somos solo dos veces en la historia, que ojalá seamos más. El Mundial supuso una alegría enorme. Mi vida no cambió, sinceramente, he seguido con los mismos amigos, mi familia, y mi misma forma de ser. Pero a nivel personal es un logro muy grande.
Una de las cosas más complicadas dentro del deporte de élite es vislumbrar la retirada. ¿Usted cómo lo ve? La retirada es asumir que no eres el centro de la Tierra y que hay más vida más allá del deporte al que te dedicabas. Hay que saber llevarla. Por eso para mí los estudios son algo fundamental, porque el baloncesto se acaba relativamente pronto. También porque así uno mantiene la cabeza ocupada. Hay que formarse y crecer. NT
Championships and became world champion. I remember the semifinal as being more tense than the final, which turned out to be quite comfortable. It was a final nonetheless and you are always on edge until the end of the game. Going back to your question, in terms of memories I would say my first game for Spain, which was in Belarus, and I played really well. That’s why I remember it so fondly.
What did the world championship mean for you in general terms? Sometimes I wonder if I really realise the importance of being a world champion. I say that because when I was playing in France last year, the warm welcome I received and the expectation created were a further bonus; it was as if your name was different or you were from another planet. Often when I go to places that are not really basketball-oriented and they say “hey, this guy is a world champion”, you see how faces change. And I appreciate it, of course: how can I not appreciate being world champion? But maybe I don't realise how much it means, bearing in mind we have only ever won it twice but hopefully can add to that figure. Winning the World Championship was a huge joy for me. My life didn’t change, honestly: I still have the same friends, my family, and I am the same person.

One of the hardest things in top-flight sport is thinking about retirement. How do you feel about it? Retiring is accepting that you are no longer the centre of the world and there is life beyond the sport you have devoted your life to. You need to be able to cope with it. That’s why studying is so important for me because a career in basketball comes to an end quite early. NT

Fundación celebrates its 30th anniversary
Loro Parque Fundación cumple treinta años protegiendo animales. La institución ha salvado de la extinción a doce especies y ha desarrollado más de 270 proyectos de conservación en todo el mundo, en los que se han invertido casi veintiocho millones de dólares.
Este éxito es un claro ejemplo de cómo los esfuerzos de conservación ex situ , desarrollados por zoológicos y acuarios, ayudan a obtener el mejor conocimiento de los animales en sus hábitats naturales ( in situ ).
Hitos tan significativos como el primer nacimiento de una cría de guacamayo de Lear en la naturaleza, de una pareja nacida y criada en las instalaciones de Loro Parque Fundación, ilustran la excelencia en el manejo de los loros por parte de los profesionales de la entidad.
Para conmemorar su aniversario, Loro Parque Fundación celebró una cena benéfica que reunió a más de setecientas personas que aportaron su granito de arena para impulsar la labor de conservación de la institución.
Loro Parque Fundación celebrates 30 years protecting animals. The institution has saved twelve species from extinction and has put in place more than 270 conservation projects worldwide, in which they have invested almost USD 28 million.
This success is a clear example of how the ex-situ conservation work of zoos and aquariums helps us acquire the best possible knowledge of animals in their natural habitats (in situ).
Significant milestones such as the first birth of a Lear’s macaw in its natural environment from a pair born and raised in the Loro Parque Fundación facilities illustrate the excellent parrot management of Loro Parque’s professional staff.
To commemorate its anniversary, the Foundation held a charity dinner to raise funds for the CanBio project. The event was attended by over 700 people who did their bit to help further the institution's conservation work.

Este sendero número 4 de la red de senderos del Parque Nacional de Las Cañadas del Teide, aun siendo pista, nos hará adentrarnos en los secretos del circo de Las Cañadas del Teide, cuyas paredes quedaron como cicatrices de las diferentes fases de formación del edificio Cañadas; son un apilamiento en capas que recogen la historia de más de tres millones de años de actividad volcánica.
Este recorrido forma parte del afamado «Camino de Chasna», hoy también señalado como GR131 y andado en su momento por los primeros habitantes de la Isla. Los nuevos colonos siguieron utilizándolo como vía pecuaria, de ahí su nombre de «cañadas», y siete por existir ese número de pasos: Cañada de Diego Hernández, Las Pilas, La Angostura, Las Grieta, El Montón de Trigo, La Mareta y El Capricho.
Comenzamos en la zona norte (partiendo del centro de visitantes del Portillo). Atravesamos así la primera barrera y ya entramos en la pista, que no abandonaremos en todo nuestro periplo, evitando
This walk, which is No.4 on Teide National Park’s network of trails although it is a dirt track, takes us deep into the secrets of the volcanic cirque known as Las Cañadas del Teide, whose sheer rock walls are like scars left by the different stages of the formation of the Las Cañadas edifice. The various layers reflect the history of over three million years of volcanic activity.
The walk is part of the famous “Camino de Chasna” (Chasna Way), known today also as route GR131 and used in ancient times by Tenerife’s earliest inhabitants. Later settlers continued to use it for moving their herds of livestock, hence the Spanish name “cañadas” (pastoral paths), of which there are seven up here: Cañada de Diego Hernández, Las Pilas, La Angostura, Las Grieta, El Montón de Trigo, La Mareta and El Capricho.
We begin our walk on the northern side, departing from the visitors’ centre at El Portillo. After crossing a first barrier we join the trail and keep to this for the entire duration of the walk. After fifteen minutes we come to a second barrier which is easy to negotiate.

Dependiendo de la época del año elegida para hacer este recorrido, tendremos la oportunidad de observar las distintas etapas de la floración del parque, con el tajinaste rojo ( Echium wildpretii ) o la hierba pajonera ( Descurainia bourgaeana ) que tapiza el camino de un amarillo canario deslumbrante. A las dos horas y media de trayecto, en la cañada de La Grieta, encontraremos a nuestra derecha un interesante resto de ruinas de cabañas utilizadas por los antiguos pastores en su constante ir y venir de norte a sur y viceversa.
Thirty minutes later, at the foot of the rock wall of Las Cañadas, we will see a wide variety of geomorphological formations. These include strips of black basal lava close to the Cañada de Diego Hernández (the first in the series of Cañadas) and yellowish materials formed by acidic magma given off during particularly violent eruptions.
Depending on the time of year we do this walk, we will have the opportunity to observe the different flowering periods of the park’s plant life, including red bugloss ( Echium wildpretii ) and the abundant flixweed ( Descurainia bourgaeana ) that forms a dazzling yellow carpet along our route. After walking for two and a half hours, we reach the Cañada de La Grieta and on the right will see the interesting ruins of shelters used by herdsmen of old when travelling constantly from the north to south of the island and vice versa.
Four hours into the walk and as we near its end, we come to the only uphill section. Particularly striking here is the Cañada de El Capricho and its beautiful forms, a landscape fashioned in the shadow of

Pasadas ya las cuatro horas tendremos la única subida del camino, ya en el tramo final. Destaca la cañada de El Capricho con formas de gran belleza, paisaje moldeado bajo la sombra de la descomunal montaña Guajara, que se levanta sobre nosotros a 2712 metros de altitud. Nunca un adjetivo fue tan acertado.
En breve, y como si de un oasis se tratara, se observa, a lo lejos, la concurrida área de servicios y mirador de La Ruleta, junto al Parador Nacional del Teide, que pone fin a nuestra ruta a pie. NT

Consultar la previsión meteorológica (estamos a 2000 metros de altitud), consultar épocas de caza de muflón e instalación de colmenas en los aledaños.

Antes de empezar esta actividad, recomendamos combinar las línea internas de guaguas 348 y 342 en función de la ubicación de nuestro vehículo particular. Si subimos por el norte, dejaremos nuestro vehículo en el centro de visitantes del Portillo; allí tomaremos la línea 342, que nos lleva al Parador Nacional, y comenzaremos nuestra ruta en dirección a nuestro vehículo. Si subimos desde el sur, dejaremos nuestro vehículo en el Parador Nacional y tomaremos la línea 348, que nos lleva al centro de visitantes del Portillo, y comenzaremos nuestra ruta en dirección a nuestro vehículo.

Distance: 15 km (one way).
Difficulty: average.
Advice: Take a mobile phone and extra battery, more than 1.5 litres of water, torch, footwear with good grip, backpack, coat, walking pole, hat, sunglasses, sun cream and something to eat. Check the weather forecast (the walk is at 2000 metres altitude) and also the seasons for mouflon (wild sheep) hunting and the installation of beehives in the area.
Tip: Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays only. To do this walk, we recommend taking one of the internal buses (348 or 342, depending on where you park). If you come up from the north of the island, leave the car at the El Portillo visitors’ centre, take bus 342 to the Parador Hotel and start the walk in the direction of where you left the car. If you travel up from the south, leave the car at the Parador Hotel, take bus 348 to the El Portillo visitors’ centre and walk towards where you left your car.

Santo Domingo de Garafía es uno de los tantos lugares de La Palma que transportan a quien lo visita a otro mundo. Sus largos acantilados y su oleaje chocando contra su escarpada costa y las rocas encantan al visitante, que antes de llegar a este lugar debe circular por una carretera serpenteante.
Santo Domingo de Garafía is one of the many spots on La Palma that transport all those who visit it to another world. The line of cliffs and sight of the waves crashing against the scarped shoreline and the rocks captivate visitors, who must negotiate a winding road to get here.
A simple vista podremos apreciar el estado de la mar y cuán fuerte es la ventolera, si la hay, porque lo cierto es que, si el tiempo acompaña, no solo hay que deleitar la vista, también hay que animarse a un buen chapuzón en el Porís de Santo Domingo. Para ello debemos encaminarnos por el sendero empedrado que desciende desde el aparcamiento habilitado. Aquí es quizás cuando nos toparemos con la parte más complicada de este pasaje, pues el camino tiene un desnivel muy considerable, que pone a prueba a las rodillas al descender y a nuestro aliento al ascender a la vuelta.
The sea conditions and wind strength (or indeed if there is any wind) can be gauged with the naked eye and, if the weather is good, we should not just admire the stunning view but also treat ourselves to a lovely dip in the sea at Porís de Santo Domingo. For this, we need to make our way down the stone path from the parking area. This is probably when we will encounter the most challenging part of the journey given that the path is very steep and puts our knees to the test on the way down and our breathing on the way back up.

Al recorrer la senda veremos varios carteles que nos indican qué dirección podemos tomar: puerto de Santo Domingo, mirador del Serradero, Cueva de Agua…, pero proseguimos en dirección al puerto, sin perder de vista cada paso que damos hasta llegar a nuestra zona de baño. Si la mar está calmada, tanto la cala como el charco de Los Erizos son la mejor forma de poner un cierre perfecto a nuestra travesía de ida. Si por el contrario el oleaje no acompañase, debemos evitar el baño, pero no deja de seguir mereciendo la pena para contemplar la naturaleza en todo su esplendor en una de las mejores costas de La Palma. The Witcher, basada en el libro del escritor polaco Andrzej Sapkowski. En la historia de ficción este lugar es conocido como «Aretuza», una escuela de hechiceras. Curiosamente, esta no fue la única localización de la que se valió la plataforma de streaming, pues también lo hizo con el bosque de Los Tilos y diversas localizaciones de la Caldera.

Further proof of La Palma’s immeasurable beauty, the kind that at times arises in our imagination only and is more typical of books (particularly fantasies), is that its different landscapes and locations were used for the historic Netflix series The Witcher , based on the book by Polish writer Andrzej
Sapkowski. In the fantasy drama, this particular place is known as “Aretuza”, a school for witches. By way of anecdote, it was not the only location used for filming by the streaming platform, with Los Tilos Forest and various locations in La Caldera also appearing.

Throughout the Sa Trapa trail, which is situated in the municipality of Andratx and is accessed from the hamlet of Sant Elm, it is easy to imagine yourself working side by side with the Trappist monks who settled in the valley after fleeing the French Revolution and created a community that is maintained these days by nature conservation society GOB. The 81-hectare reserve is home to species such as the Mediterranean orchid and lets you discover a side of the island that combines popular architecture with age-old techniques such as drystone walls.
If you happen to get lost, you can always look up and contemplate the islet of Sa Dragonera which forms, with fellow-islets Pantaleu and Mitjana, a natural park inhabited by species including cormorants, ospreys and also common falcons - whose life cycle can be observed in real time thanks to the cameras installed by animal protection associations to promote their conservation. A true gem of nature that you can touch by simply reaching out with your hand if you stand on tiptoe on this giant rock.

Hace mucho que visité La Graciosa. Tomar el barco para acceder a esta isla de apenas veintinueve kilómetros cuadrados ya la convierte en una aventura. Si al llegar te encuentras con que no hay carreteras ni calles de asfalto, pues aún más aventura. Y si te quedas en una casa o apartamento suficiente tiempo (más de tres días) como para convivir y hablar tranquilamente con los parroquianos, pues mucho mejor.
sus calles de arena o alquilar una bici o un tándem si vas en pareja o en familia. Para ir a las playas, caminando, en bici o con los taxis 4x4. Recuerda llevar protección solar, sombrero o gorra, porque no hay sombras.
Visitar la aldea de Pedro Barba es una auténtica sorpresa y sirve para aprender algo de historia. Lanzarote y La Graciosa tuvieron una importante y activa industria pesquera.
Mi recomendación es quedarte en un apartamento en Caleta de Sebo y, como cuartel general, usarlo de base para descansar y reponer fuerzas. El resto del día hay que aprovecharlo recorriendo esta isla mágica. Primero su casco principal, con todo lo que puedas necesitar: restaurantes con pescado fresco, pastelería, helados y varias tiendas donde, si tienes licencia, puedes pillar una caña y recordar tus días de infancia pescando sargos, pejeverdes o incluso alguna vieja.

It's been a long time since I visited La Graciosa. Just taking the boat to reach this island a mere 29 km 2 in size is itself an adventure. When you arrive and find that there are no roads or tarmacked streets, it is even more of an adventure. And if you stay long enough (more than three days) in a house or apartment to live and chat at leisure with the locals, so much the better.
You can reach the beaches on foot, by bike or in a 4x4 taxi. Don’t forget to take protection from the sun, a hat or cap, because there is no shade.
A visit to the small village of Pedro Barba throws up a real surprise and a bit of history. Lanzarote and La Graciosa once had an important and active fishing industry.
Luego están las playas. Imprescindible es Caleta de Sebo, en la capital. Es la ideal para estar con los más pequeños, ellos en la orilla y tú en el chiringuito. Otras son Las Conchas, a los pies de montaña Bermeja; playa de Montaña Amarilla; o La Cocina.
Para terminar, algo de conciencia ambiental. Visita playa del Ámbar. Es uno de los puntos a los que más llegan microplásticos. El paisaje sobrecoge y tal vez salgas de esta isla algo más concienciado de que cada gesto que hacemos influye en la salud del planeta. NT
I recommend staying in an apartment in Caleta de Sebo and using it as a base to relax and recharge your batteries. The rest of the day should be spent touring this magical island, starting with its main town which has everything you might need, restaurants with fresh fish, pastries, ice cream and some shops where, if you have a permit, you can grab a rod and relive your childhood days fishing for bream, wrasse and even parrotfish.
Needless to say, the best way to get around the town and its sandy streets is on foot, but you can also hire a bike or tandem if you visit with your partner or family.
Then there are the beaches. A must-visit is Caleta de Sebo in the capital, which is ideal for children, who can play on the shore while you check out the beach bar. Other beaches include Las Conchas (at the foot of Montaña Bermeja), Montaña Amarilla and La Cocina.
Lastly, a note on environmental awareness. You should visit Ambar Beach. It is among the spots most affected by microplastics. Even if you don't pick up a single piece, the scenery is stunning and you might leave this island a little more aware that every action we take as individuals has a major bearing on the health of the planet. Me reencontré con rincones de mi adolescencia junto con esa gastronomía eternamente espléndida de la urbe marinera y cosmopolita. Una vez más detecté el glosario de detalles que pasan desapercibidos si no agudizamos la atención mientras callejeamos.
I found myself rediscovering parts from my teenage days along with the eternally wonderful gastronomy of this seafaring and cosmopolitan city. Once again, I detected lots of little things that go unnoticed unless we pay very close attention while strolling through the streets.
Podría presumir de conocer A Coruña, pero en cada visita bajo los pies a la tierra. Mucho por descubrir y esta vez no fue la excepción. Me creía muy listillo, pero, como muestra, desconocía la vinculación de Picasso con A Coruña. Vivió aquí desde los nueve hasta los trece años y los coruñeses reivindican que el considerado mejor pintor del siglo XX se formase en esta ciudad durante esa etapa tan vital. Me acerco a la calle Real. El paseo es estimulante; antes de desembocar en la plaza de María Pita miro un recetario de Emilia Pardo Bazán, influencer de su época; cuna esta, como queda claro, de mujeres bravas y adelantadas como la propia María Pita, que plantó cara a los ingleses: «¡Por aquí no pasáis!».
Podría ‘presumir’ de conocer A Coruña, pero en cada visita bajo los pies a la tierra
Yo sí que paso y ¡Dios me libre de contrariar a la heroína! Siento gazuza y, ya en la zona, me dirijo a la Taberna O Cunqueiro. Pulpo a la gallega –que no a feira – con un vino Godello. Ya reconfortado, ahora toca el Ayuntamiento: fachada deslumbrante y mi móvil que congela el prodigio arquitectónico.
Although I could boast that I know A Coruña, every visit brings me back down to earth. There is so much to discover and this time was no exception. I thought I was clever but I was unaware of Picasso's links to A Coruña, for example. He lived in the city from the ages of nine to thirteen and here they claim that the painter who is widely considered the best in the 20th century received his artistic training at that key stage of his life.

I head along to Calle Real. The walk is stimulating; before coming out onto María Pita Square I check a recipe book by Emilia Pardo Bazán, an influencer in her day; the city has spawned many brave women who were ahead of their time, including María Pita, who stood up to the invading English troops and shouted: “You will not pass!”
I do pass and I really hope I don’t upset the city’s famous heroine. I am feeling peckish so, as I am in the area, I drop by the Taberna O Cunqueiro. Octopus cooked Galician-style –not a feira – and washed down

A bocados. Impensable perderse el mercado de abastos de la plaza de Lugo y su joyería marina con los brincos de los camarones vivos. Apetece fotografiar percebes, rayas, sanmartiños, vieiras, carabineros… Seguimos por Los Cantones y la galería de La Marina; arquitectura modernista y restauración enxebre (tradicional) o vanguardista –como Árbore da Veira–, además de derroche de cultura y música clásica. Tramos empedrados y una mercería histórica, La Crisálida… Gastronomía –por supuesto–. La Penela: exube-
rantes empanadas y tortilla de Betanzos con albariño. Y la Torre de Hércules, de origen romano; 234 escalones llevan a admirar vistas de auténtica leyenda. Sin duda, argumentos para hacer realidad la escapada con Binter. More things to do Bites. A must visit is the main market on Plaza de Lugo for its delightful seafood and where the tiny shrimps are still alive and moving. You will want to take photos of the barnacles, rays, sanmartiño fish, scallops, carabinero shrimps … We continue along Los Cantones and the glazed seafront balconies of the Galerías de La Marina; modernist architecture and both traditional ( enxebre ) and avant-garde cuisine –as in Árbore da Veira–, not to mention loads of culture and classical music.
Cobbled parts and a historic haberdashery store, La Crisálida… Gastronomy –of course–. La Penela: scrumptious empanadas and Betanzos potato omelette accompanied by albariño wine. The Tower of Hercules, which dates back to Roman times; take the 234 steps up for truly legendary views. All the above are unquestionably solid arguments for a city break to A Coruña with Binter. Imponentes tesoros en sus salones con relevantes objetos de acontecimientos históricos. Entre ellos, la esplendorosa colección de relojes. Colosales, por cierto, ambas escalinatas (la sencilla y la de pompa y boato de las grandes ocasiones).
A la salida me percato de la enigmática iglesia de San Jorge. Allí Marcela y Elisa se casaron; Elisa tuvo que fingir ser un hombre para poder hacerlo y continuar con su amor a pesar de la prohibición. NT

with some Godello wine. Now replenished, I visit the Town Hall: the front of the building is spectacular and I use my phone to take a photo of this architectural wonder.
Its rooms house impressive works including important objects from historic events. There is also a splendid collection of time pieces. The two staircases are colossal (the ‘simple’ one and the grand one used for the pomp and ceremony of major occasions).
As I leave, I spot the enigmatic church of San Jorge, where Marcela and Elisa got married. Elisa had to pretend to be a man to do so and be able to continue with her partner despite the ban on same-sex couples in the late 19th century. NT

Cuenta la leyenda que un viajero que se adentre en la medina de Fez podría pasar varios días dando vueltas por sus serpenteantes callejones sin encontrar la salida, a menos, claro, que recurra a uno de los numerosos chiquillos siempre dispuestos a guiar al visitante desorientado a cambio de unos pocos dírhams hasta una de las doce puertas del intrincado laberinto medieval, o acaso a un riad donde encontrar reposo.
Legend has it that a traveller who ventures into the medina in Fez could spend several days wandering through its winding alleyways without finding the exit unless, of course, they seek help from one of the many children who, for a few dirhams, are always willing to guide lost visitors to one of the twelve gates of the intricate medieval labyrinth or even to a riad for some rest.

Fez es la ciudad imperial más antigua de Marruecos, capital religiosa y cultural del país, y su medina –Fez el Bali–, donde se asentaron los desterrados de Córdoba en el siglo IX, mantiene inalterable su esencia: un inmenso zoco en el que los artesanos y comerciantes se agrupan por gremios y las mercancías se transportan en burro; salpicado de fuentes, plazoletas, mezquitas, palacios y madrasas, todo ello rodeado por quince kilómetros de murallas.
Although today’s satellite technology and Google Maps have killed off such charm, you can always ignore your mobile phone and lose yourself in the more than 9000 narrow streets – many of them dead ends – that make up the world’s biggest pedestrian zone and let yourself be captivated by nooks and crannies that you would not discover otherwise.
Fez is Morocco’s oldest imperial city, the country’s religious and cultural capital, and its medina –Fez el Bali –, where exiles from Córdoba settled in the 9th century, retains all its original essence: an immense souk in which artisans and merchants are clustered according to guilds and goods are transported by donkey. It is dotted with fountains, little squares, mosques, palaces and madrasas, all of which is surrounded by fifteen kilometres of walls.

Y si en alguna esquina le ofrecen un ramillete de hierbabuena, no lo desprecie, es señal de que llega a una de las curtidurías tradicionales que aún funcionan –Chowara es la más extensa– y no le sobrará cuando se asome desde las terrazas a la colmena de pozas de tintes naturales y excrementos de pichón donde se curten pieles de cordero, camello y cabra, una de las estampas más pintorescas y malolientes de Fez, junto con la del cercano zoco de los tintoreros, donde las madejas de hilos y telas bañadas de intensos colores se secan colgadas de las fachadas.

If at some point you are offered a sprig of mint, don't turn it down as it's a sign that you're close to one of the traditional leather tanneries still operating today – Chouara is the biggest – and you will certainly need it as you look out from the terraces at the hive of pools of natural dyes and pigeon droppings where lamb, camel and goat skins are tanned. It is one of Fez’s most picturesque but foulest smelling sights, along with the nearby dyers' souk, where lengths of threads and fabrics dyed in bright colours are hung from the fronts of building to dry.
After exiting the medina through the Bab Guissa gate, a walk takes you to the top of the hill where the ruins of Marinid tombs are located. This viewpoint offers the best panoramic vista of the medieval city, confirming the impression that time stood still in Fez centuries ago. NT

La ciudad de Murcia es uno de los destinos con mejor gastronomía y patrimonio cultural que una puede visitar. Si a eso le sumamos las riquezas y tranquilidad que ofrece el Mediterráneo, los motivos son más que suficientes para poner rumbo hacia esta ciudad.
Si hablamos de patrimonio, no hay que perder de vista su catedral, una muestra arquitectónica del barroco español, que la convierte en una de las construcciones más importantes de toda la ciudad y la región. El edificio posee una gran variedad de estilos, que abarcan desde el gótico hasta el neoclasicismo; y una de las partes más apreciadas es su torre. Con noventa y cinco metros de altura (si contamos la veleta), se trata de la segunda torre-campanario más alta de España.
Visitar el interior de la catedral es un recorrido que merece mucho la pena, pues su bóveda es un deleite visual y podremos apreciar, a medida que ascendemos,
los diferentes cuerpos, el archivo catedralicio y mobiliario del siglo XVI y estilo renacentista, que fue restaurado en 2009. Y, por supuesto, maravillarse con las vistas de la ciudad desde el balcón de los conjuratorios es una obligación.
Si buscamos la tranquilidad del mar, el pueblo pesquero de Cabo de Palos, situado en la costa de Cartagena, debe estar fijado en nuestro mapa, pues bajo sus aguas hay muchos tesoros que podemos encontrar en las distintas calas, algunas de ellas muy conocidas e imprescindibles, como la cala del Muerto, la cala Roja, la cala Túnez y la cala de la Galera, entre otras.

Si de llenar el estómago hablamos, no podemos perdernos un esencial para el paladar como es el caldero, tipico de la zona del Mar Menor y Cartagena, un plato originalmente marinero que solían comer los pescadores. Not all treasures are gold and jewels
Murcia is one of the best destinations you can visit in terms of food and cultural heritage. If, to that, we add the riches and tranquility of the Mediterranean, there are more than sufficient reasons to visit the city.
From the heritage perspective, special mention must be made of Murcia Cathedral, an example of Spanish baroque architecture and one of the most important buildings in the city and the region overall, its wide variety of styles ranging from Gothic to Neoclassical. One of the most striking parts of the cathedral is the tower, which stands ninety-five metres high (counting the weathervane) and is the third tallest bell tower in Spain.
A tour of its interior is highly recommended because the dome is a visual delight and, as we go up the different storeys, we will be able to view the cathedral archive along with 16th century Renaissance-style furniture which was restored in 2009. The wonderful
views of the city from the balcony used formerly by the clergy to deliver prayers to keep disaster away are also a must.
If the tranquility of the sea is what we are after, Cabo de Palos should be circled on our map because its waters are home to many treasures that can be seen in the different coves, which include well-known and unmissable ones such as Cala del Muerto, Cala Roja, Cala

If the aim is to satisfy our appetite, we absolutely must treat ourselves to an essential dish: caldero del Mar Menor, a type of rice and fish stew eaten in the past by local fishermen. It consists of rice, small peppers (called ñoras ), rock fish and assorted shore fish for the broth. The rice is usually served separately from the fish and the dish is normally accompanied by alioli sauce, for stirring into the rice. NT

A la cuestión de si realmente existe una cocina callejera en Canarias –no referida al estilo de restaurante, sino a la opción de hallar puestos activos en sitios estratégicos de nuestras ciudades– se tendría que arrimar el signo de interrogación, incluso el de exclamación teniendo en cuenta el clima idóneo y las condiciones ideales para implantar esta modalidad frecuente en otras latitudes.
Salvo casos aislados y formatos de ventorrillos asociados a fiestas, además de poquitos food-trucks , este concepto no ha calado en el Archipiélago. Muchos entornos urbanos de las Islas se prestan para pasear y salta la gazuza: no hay puestos callejeros al estilo de Sudamérica, Asia o similares a los de los perritos calientes en Nueva York. Para hallar similitudes hemos de acudir a las fiestas patronales o romerías con sus ventorrillos de quita y pon y así tomarnos una carne fiesta o unas garbanzas compuestas.
Si de arepas hablamos, o empanadas, cholaos y raspaos (Colombia, Venezuela), de un pad thai y jugo de fruta en Tailandia, o meat pie de Sídney (Australia), no sería descabellado pensar en puestitos de bocadillo de pata asada con su chicharrón y mojo. Lo mismo con unos pejines o pulpito frito. ¿Papitas arrugadas calentitas? No lo hay en ninguna una urbe o población grande de Canarias. Apelaremos a la expresión popular de «el que no se consuela es porque no quiere» y será cuestión de conformarse con el tipo de comida comentado pero de una forma contrapuesta al prototipo del carrito con ruedas. To the question whether street food –referring not to a type of restaurant but stalls located at strategic points in our towns and cities– really exists in the Canaries one would need to place a question mark, or even an exclamation mark indicating surprise given the wonderful climate and ideal conditions here for a format frequently found in other shores.
Save for isolated examples and the typical ventorrillo food and drink stalls organised for local fiestas, or the sporadic food truck, the concept of street food has not taken root in our islands. Many urban settings here are ideal for walking but if pangs of hunger arise there are no street food stalls along the lines of those in South America and Asia or New York’s hotdog stalls. Only at festivities celebrating saints’ days or annual romería fairs do we find pop-up ventorrillos to enjoy local food such as marinated pork or chickpea stew.
If we recall delicacies such as arepas, empanadas, cholaos and raspaos (in Colombia, Venezuela), a pad thai and fruit juice (Thailand) or meat pie (Sidney, Australia), it is not far-fetched to think of little stalls offering a sandwich of roast pork accompanied by pork scratchings and mojo sauce. Similarly, fried pejines (small fish) or octopus. What about warm Canarian ‘wrinkled ‘potatoes? You won’t find any such stalls in a major city or town in the Canaries.
By way of consolation we can still be happy that we can enjoy the foods mentioned above, even if in a format which is the opposite of the typical stall on wheels. NT

Los buitres son probablemente uno de los grupos de aves más incomprendidos. Su relación directa con la muerte y su aspecto un tanto desgarbado han hecho de ellos unos seres repudiados. A pesar de ello, juegan un papel fundamental en nuestros campos. Son los encargados de limpiar el terreno de cadáveres, evitando la proliferación de infecciones y enfermedades.
Desde siempre han mantenido una estrecha relación con el mundo pastoril y el ganado. Hasta no hace muchos años era frecuente la existencia de muladares no muy lejos de pueblos y núcleos de población; lugares donde se arrojaban los cadáveres y restos del ganado para que buitres y otras carroñeras se alimentaran de ellos.
El buitre común, también conocido como buitre leonado, ocupa buena parte de la península ibérica y es frecuente verlo criando en zonas de cortados, lugares donde construye sus nidos con unas pocas ramas, sobre el rellano de una cornisa o en pequeñas cuevas.
Un reducido grupo de aventureros buitres se atrevieron hace una veintena de años a adentrarse en el Mediterráneo y llegaron hasta la isla de Mallorca, donde establecieron una pequeña población que ha ido aumentando cada primavera.
Bien entrado el otoño, miles de buitres, buena parte de ellos jóvenes nacidos hace unos pocos meses, realizan un largo y duro viaje que los lleva desde las tierras ibéricas hasta el Sahel para pasar allí el invierno, alimentándose de los grandes rebaños de ganado que vigilan pastores nómadas. NT
Vultures are probably one of the most misunderstood groups of birds. Their direct association with death and their ungainly appearance mean they tend to attract disapproval. And yet they play a fundamental role in our fields. They clear the land of corpses, preventing the proliferation of infections and diseases.
They have always had a close association with the pastoral world and livestock. Not that many years ago, middens would often be found close to towns and population centres; the corpses and remains of livestock were dumped in these spots so that vultures and other scavengers could feed on them.
The common vulture, also known as the griffon vulture, inhabits much of the Iberian Peninsula and can often be seen breeding in and around large cliffs, where they build their nests with a few branches on a ledge or in small caves.
A small group of adventurous vultures ventured into the Mediterranean some twenty years ago and reached the island of Majorca, where they established a small population that has grown in size every spring.
Deep in autumn, thousands of vultures, including many young ones just a few months old, make the long and arduous journey from the Iberian Peninsula to the Sahel region in Africa to spend winter there, feeding on the large herds of livestock guarded by nomad shepherds. NT

Según el doctor Walter Plasencia, jefe de Medicina Fetal en Hospiten, «realizar estudios detallados en esta etapa es fundamental para predecir y prevenir complicaciones como defectos congénitos, problemas de crecimiento, prematuridad y preeclampsia».
Estos estudios «permiten la detección temprana de complicaciones, mejorando el asesoramiento y facilitando un pronóstico más preciso mediante pruebas genéticas. Además, ayudan a identificar embarazos con alto riesgo de preeclampsia y reducen en más del 80 % los casos antes de la semana 34, lo que disminuye las complicaciones».
La evaluación en el primer trimestre es crucial para un embarazo seguro y un adecuado respaldo a las futuras madres.

According to Dr Walter Plasencia, head of Foetal Medicine at Hospiten, “performing detailed studies at this stage is essential in order to predict and prevent complications such as congenital defects, growth problems, prematurity and pre-eclampsia”.
The studies “allow early detection of complications, thus improving advice and facilitating a more accurate prognosis using genetic testing. They also help identify pregnancies at high risk of pre-eclampsia and reduce cases by more than 80 % before week 34, which in turn reduces complications.”
Screening in the first trimester is vital to ensure a safe pregnancy and adequate support for mothers-to-be.

El riesgo de enfermar de una persona viene determinado por diferentes factores, entre los que la genética representa un porcentaje menor. El estilo de vida, el entorno donde vivimos, el sistema de salud, el trabajo, la red de apoyo social… son algunos de los factores que influyen en nuestro estado de salud-enfermedad.
Conocer el impacto de estos determinantes es el primer paso para decidir las acciones que nos conduzcan a prevenir los problemas de salud.
Dentro de los recursos que ofrece nuestro sistema de salud tenemos las estrategias de prevención a través de la vacunación frente a la gripe y el neumococo junto con el control de las enfermedades crónicas (hipertensión, colesterol, diabetes) para disminuir nuestra vulnerabilidad.
Podemos reforzar nuestro sistema inmunitario escogiendo una alimentación equilibrada que permita su funcionamiento óptimo y una buena gestión emocional que evite debilitarlo.
Además, es necesario preservar el descanso no alterando los ritmos circadianos (reducir el uso de pantallas y luz artificial) y potenciando la práctica diaria de ejercicio y actividad física.
Por último, si la infección te atrapa, evita contagiar al resto; de todos depende proteger a los más frágiles. NT

Every decision you take can bring illness closer or keep it away. Choose to look after your health and prevent infections by availing yourself of all available resources.
A person’s risk of falling ill is determined by various factors among which genetics represent just a small percentage. Our lifestyle and environment, the health care system, work, social support network, etc are some of the factors that influence our state of health or illness.
Being aware of the impact of these factors is the first step to deciding on actions we can take to prevent health issues from arising.
Resources offered by the health care system include prevention strategies such as vaccination against flu and pneumococci, and monitoring of chronic illnesses (high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes) to reduce our vulnerability.
We can boost our immune system by following a balanced diet to help it function optimally, as well as by managing our emotions appropriately to prevent it from becoming weakened.
In addition, we should ensure we rest by not altering our circadian rhythms (we can reduce our use of screens and artificial light) and by engaging in daily exercise and physical activity.
Lastly, if you do catch something infectious, avoid passing it onto others. It is everyone’s responsibility to protect the most vulnerable. NT

Tres de cada diez personas presentan algún tipo de alergia, tal y como ha ratificado la Sociedad Española de Alergología e Inmunología Clínica. Entre las más comunes el doctor Víctor Matheu, especialista en Alergología de los hospitales Quirónsalud Tenerife, Costa Adeje y Vida, destaca por este orden la alergia al polen, la alergia a los ácaros y las alergias alimentarias.
En el caso de las alergias alimentarias, estas afectan a alrededor del 3 % de la población adulta y al 8 % de los niños. «Los alimentos más comunes que causan alergias son leche, huevos, frutos secos y mariscos. No son de las que más incidencia tienen, como pueden ser las respiratorias, que afectan al 25 % de la población española», explica el doctor Matheu.
En cuanto a los síntomas de la alergia, el doctor Matheu subraya los estornudos, la congestión nasal y los ojos llorosos en las alergias respiratorias y la hinchazón de boca y labios, la urticaria y la anafilaxia en las alimentarias.

Of the most common, Dr Víctor Matheu - a specialist in Allergology at the Quirónsalud Tenerife, Costa Adeje and Vida hospitals - highlights allergies to pollen, allergies to mites and food allergies, in that order.
Food allergies affect around 3 % of the adult population and 8 % of children. “The most common foods that cause allergies are milk, eggs, nuts and shellfish. These allergies are not the most prevalent, however: respiratory infections, for example, affect 25% of the Spanish population" Dr Matheu explains.
In terms of allergy symptoms, Dr Matheu highlights sneezing, nasal congestion and watery eyes in the case of respiratory allergies and swelling of the mouth and lips, itchy rash and anaphylaxis in food allergies.

Dada la escasez de lluvias en El Hierro, este árbol era la fuente principal de agua dulce para los bimbaches, los pobladores de la Isla. Tal era su importancia que se consideraba de origen sagrado y los aborígenes velaban por el bienestar y mantenimiento del ser arbóreo. Sin embargo, todo cambió cuando llegaron aquellos hombres, diferentes a todos los que habían arribado otrora a la Isla, pues estos portaban ornamentos plateados de acero, capaces de reflectar en ellos la luz del sol, un contraste interesante, teniendo en cuenta las oscuras intenciones de estos nuevos visitantes . Temiendo por la vida y la profanación del propio árbol Garoé, los bimbaches meditaron un plan por el que acordaron que nadie revelaría dónde se podía encontrar agua para reabastecerse. De esta forma, se esperaba que la estadía de los invasores no se prolongara. No obstante, una joven bimbache, de nombre Agarfa, se enamoró de un soldado al que terminó por revelar el secreto del árbol sagrado y dónde encontrarlo, lo que provocó que los colonizadores montaran un campamento alrededor del Garoé. Los bimbaches, indefensos e impotentes ante la traición, colgaron a Agarfa, pues su delito había condenado a su pueblo. NT
Myths and legends from the Canaries Garoé,
Old tales speak of an immense tree with leaves capable of transforming the mist that shrouded the area into water, which trickled down the branches and filled a large reservoir in the ground. Given the lack of rainfall in El Hierro, this tree was the main source of fresh water for the island’s native inhabitants (the ‘bimbaches’). Such was the tree’s importance that it was considered to be of sacred origin and the aborigines ensured it was well kept and looked after. However, everything changed with the arrival of men who were very different to all previous visitors to the island given that they bore steel-plated ‘ornaments’ that reflected the sunlight. This brightness made an interesting contrast with the sinister intentions of the new visitors
Fearing that the Garoé tree would be killed and desecrated, the bimbaches devised a plan according to which no one would reveal where water could be found to supply the invaders. The hope was that their stay would be short-lived. However, a young bimbache girl called Agarfa fell in love with one of the soldiers and ended up revealing the secret and location of the sacred tree to him, leading the colonisers to set up camp around Garoé. Defenceless and powerless in the face of the betrayal, the bimbaches hanged Agarfa as her crime had doomed her people. NT

Imagine an endless library whose every shelf is filled with books that represent American companies. The Loro Parque Foundation held a charity gala dinner in September to mark its thirtieth anniversary. Proceeds from the fundraiser went to CanBio, an initiative that has eight projects for the protection of endangered Canary Island species and their ecosystems. CanBio aims to create a network to monitor climate change, ocean acidification and ocean noise, as well as
the effects of these on biodiversity in the Canary Islands. Its work focuses also on the study of the habitats of species in critical danger of extinction.

150 years of commitment to humanitarian work in the Canaries
The year 2024 is of special relevance for the Red Cross in the Canaries as the organisation is proudly celebrating the 150th anniversary of its creation in the 19th century, on 1 April 1874 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Ever since, it has carried out its work guided by the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
Como herederos de una gran historia, Cruz Roja en Canarias ha estado presente en todos los acontecimientos y emergencias importantes de los siglos XIX, XX y XXI. Además, Cruz Roja en Canarias participa en la cooperación internacional, para lo que se creó en las Islas el Centro de Cooperación con África y el almacén logístico de la Federación Internacional de la Cruz Roja y la Media Luna Roja, facilitando ayudas en las catástrofes y emergencias del mundo. Canarias ocupa un enclave estratégico continental, y las personas canarias han destacado siempre por su espíritu solidario.
Bajo el lema 150 años de Acción Humanitaria en Canarias, Cruz Roja en Canarias ha ido desarrollando una campaña a lo largo del presente año 2024, en reconocimiento a la labor del voluntariado y personal laboral que ha hecho posible el crecimiento de la institución en Canarias. As heirs of a great history, the Red Cross in the Canaries has been present in all the major events and emergencies of the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. It also plays a role in international cooperation and the Africa Cooperation Centre and logistics warehouse of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent were established in the Islands for the purpose of providing aid in the event of world disasters and emergencies. The Canary Islands are situated in a strategic location between continents and the people of the Canaries have always stood out for their solidarity.
Under the motto 150 years of Humanitarian Action in the Canary Islands, the Red Cross in the Canaries has been engaged throughout the current year in a campaign to recognise the work of the volunteers and staff who have made the growth of the organisation possible in the Islands. To that end, it has already undertaken an extensive programme of activities across the region (travelling exhibition, visits to the Red Cross Museum in Tenerife, workshops...) and these will continue further until the end of the year with initiatives such as the planting of 150 trees and a formal Red Cross in the Canaries commemoration event.
Last year, the Red Cross in the Canaries assisted over 137,000 people in the Islands, delivering more than 750,000 responses across its many projects.
Tenerife Egatesa off to flying start
Una pretemporada más, la gira preparatoria del Costa Adeje Tenerife Egatesa tuvo lugar gracias a Binter. La compañía aérea, que desde 2015 impulsa como patrocinadora a la entidad que milita en la máxima categoría del fútbol femenino, ha sido la encargada del desplazamiento de la expedición tinerfeña al stage que el equipo completó en la Península para dar comienzo a la recta final de la pretemporada.

El equipo viajó a Madrid con la aerolínea canaria, haciendo uso de la ruta puesta en marcha en febrero de este año, con dieciséis conexiones diarias entre la capital y Canarias.
La gira comprendió dos pruebas ante rivales de alta exigencia como el Madrid CFF y el Valencia CF, con las que el cuerpo técnico buscó aumentar la cohesión grupal y comprobar el nivel del equipo antes del comienzo de la liga.
Volar conecta a las personas y permite explorar el mundo de manera rápida y accesible, pero en algunos casos la experiencia genera ansiedad y miedo, lo que les impide disfrutar de los beneficios del viaje.
Conscientes de este desafío, Binter lleva años impartiendo el curso Volar sin miedo , dirigido a aquellas personas que son incapaces de tomar un avión debido al malestar que padecen durante el vuelo.
En octubre se celebran dos nuevas ediciones: una en Gran
Canaria, los días 4 y 5 de octubre, y otra en Tenerife, el 25 y el 26 de octubre.
Psicólogos y expertos en aviación ayudan a los participantes a comprender y superar su miedo a volar, combinando diagnóstico individual y apoyo colectivo. Una de las claves del éxito del curso es la realización de un vuelo real, en el que los participantes aplicarán lo aprendido.

Costa Adeje Tenerife Egatesa women’s team went on tour for preseason friendlies yet again this year courtesy of Binter. A sponsor since 2015 of the club that plays in the top flight of women's football in Spain, the airline took care of flight arrangements for the Tenerife side’s training camp on the mainland, which marked the final stretch of its preseason training.
The team flew to Madrid using Binter’s new route which
was launched back in February and offers 16 flights daily between the Spanish capital and the Canaries. The tour included two try-outs against tough rivals Madrid CFF and Valencia CF, with the games used by the coaching staff to enhance group cohesion and assess the team’s level before the start of the league season.
Flying connects people and allows them to explore the world quickly and affordably. However, in some cases the experience triggers anxiety and fear, preventing sufferers from enjoying the benefits of travel.
Aware of this challenging situation, Binter has delivered its Flying Without Fear course for many years to help people who feel unable to go on a plane due to the distress suffered during the flight.
Two new deliveries of the course are scheduled for this
month: one in Gran Canaria on 4 and 5 October and the other in Tenerife on 25 and 26 October.
Using a combination of individual diagnosis and collective support, psychologists and aviation experts help participants understand and overcome their fear of flying.
One of the keys to the success of the course is an actual flight on which participants apply their learning in order to overcome their fear of flying.

El presidente de Canarias, Fernando Clavijo, destacó que se trata de un programa «pionero» con el que se cumple la idea de llegar a un segmento de la población promoviendo «el bienestar, la calidad de vida y la salud integral de las personas mayores de cincuenta y cinco años» en las Islas.
Por su parte, el presidente de Binter, Rodolfo Núñez, explicó que este tipo de acciones y programas forman parte de la apuesta de la compañía para que este colectivo disfrute de las mayores facilidades posibles a la hora de viajar en la amplia red de destinos que ofrece la aerolínea.
Las primeras actuaciones previstas incluyen viajes a la Península, que contemplan, además del traslado en avión, excursiones, alojamiento y manutención en régimen de media pensión o pensión completa.
The government of the Canary Islands has launched Canarias Se Mueve +55, a pioneering programme whose main objective is to offer residents aged over fifty-five in the Canaries a wide range of benefits regarding mobility and travel, cultural activities, and services and products.
For the programme’s first initiative, the regional government has joined forces with Binter to foster travel by seniors. The Canarian Ministry of Social Welfare and the airline have unveiled discounted travel packages aimed at the over fifty-fives that include destinations such as Madrid, Asturias and Andalusia.
Available since 5 September in travel agencies in the Canaries, the holiday packages include cultural activities, transport and 24-hour assistance for participating seniors, thus enabling them to benefit from an enriching experience.
The president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, underlined the “pioneering” nature of a programme that aims
to reach a particular segment of the population to promote “the well-being, quality of life and overall health of over fifty-fives” in the Canary Islands.
For his part, Binter president Rodolfo Núñez explained that actions of this kind are part of the company's commitment to facilitate travel as much as possible for this age group on the airline’s extensive network of destinations.
The first planned actions include trips to the mainland that include not just flights but also excursions, accommodation and food on a half-board or full-board basis.
