New principal leads Eunice Ruan Bruwer
A JEWEL of a girls’ school, known for its traditions and quality education according to Zinnette de Wet, played a major role in her decision to put her name in the hat for the position as principal of the Eunice High School. De Wet was appointed as the successor to Paul Cassar, who occupied the chair for 28 years. According to De Wet (44), she started taking notice of Eunice when she was appointed as deputy head at Potchefstroom Girls’ High five years ago. “I attended the annual South African girls’ school association conference, as well as the All Girl Festival, where I became familiar with the worldclass educa tion at Eunice,” said De Wet. years in Potchefstroom. De Wet was the deputy princi pal of Potchefstroom Gymnasium for three years where her husband, Kobus, is the current deputy principal. For the time being he will continue there. Before their time in Potchefstroom they both taught at the Brits High School. De Wet has been over seas a couple of times for workrelated trips, including Australia and England for research – in England on the use of IT in schools. “I look forward to the Rose City. We still have a couple of things to finish before moving to Bloem on Friday. “I don’t really know Bloemfontein. I only got to know it a bit when we brought our son to universi ty the other day.” Kobus (18) is a firstyear Theology student at the University of the Free State (UFS).
