Lai Yuen is back again! This summer, the local iconic amusement park will open at the AsiaWorld-Expo in July, as 'Lai Yuen Super Summer 2016'. Lenovo Bendable Smartphones Smartphone Revolution Having a smartphone with a curved screen is nothing new under the sun. That said, Lenovo showcased a bendable phone at a San Francisco tech conference recently that took many by surprise. This bendable phone does not mean that the phone is manufactured with a bendable screen. Rather, the phone can be wrapped around the wrist like a bracelet. With just a bend of the wrist, the phone will snap into place, though looking like a phone with a big screen or a fairly thick smartwatch. It can be removed anytime. Lenovo also stated that a bendable smartphone needs bendable parts like the battery and display. wenty-seven-yearold rapper DoughBoy is one to look out for. Describing his aesthetic as "Chinese, nerdy and Emo", his commercial success as a Hong Kong rap artist is reflective of more than just a nerdy young man "producing beats in his room". Though he does not selfidentify as a pioneer in the local rap scene, he does declare that when it comes to producing, he wants to be "taken seriously". Renowned for his innovative and soulful use of sampling shown through his production of rapper Jin’s latest Cantonese album, he modestly credits himself as an artist attempting
to create his own distinguishable producing style. Having grown up in Singapore, he ascribes a lot of his influence to Malaysian rap duo Too Phat, as well as local Hong Kong rapper Jin, stating that these artists opened him up to the possibility of pursuing a career in rap regardless of "the way he looked" and his race. He also credits local artists LMF for paving the way for other rap artists in Hong Kong and exposing local audiences to rap as both a genre and a style. He attributes his transition to trap to the somewhat angry and violent nature of Hong Kong’s rap, referring to trap as the "punk
rock of this generation" in regards to its angry, anti-sentiment. He reflects back on his motivation to pursue a stronger trap sound once witnessing his audience getting loose and moshing during his initial performances as a transitioning trap artist. When asked about his experience recording for the film The Way We Dance, he lets out a sigh as if preparing for a long, winding, and somewhat complicated story. Having written the song in under twenty minutes in between stressfully preparing for his final project for film school and falsely assuming The Way We Dance was a lowkey, amateur student movie, he lets out a laugh as if coming to terms with the absurdity of the whole situation. Further elaborating on his moment of realization, he shares the oddly surreal experience of hopping onto a cab a year later as a fresh college graduate (having forgotten entirely about the film), and hearing an all-too-familiar voice on the radio. The versatility of ‘DoughBoy’ varies from the studio, to the classroom and the

ooftopper Roger from Manchester is new to the game. Soon after moving to Hong Kong in late 2015 and being inspired by the Russian duo behind on the roofs, he decided to explore his interest in roofing by utilizing the city’s concrete jungle to its fullest. He describes his initial entry into roof-topping as a somewhat straightforward moment of realization. Due to the ability to pick and choose from an abundance of buildings in Hong Kong, he soon realized that partaking in the roofing phenomena could be, in fact, very doable given the resources provided to him in the city. After his first ten-story building, and experiencing the thrill of accomplishing his first roof, Roger soon took up the challenge to explore a wider variety of skyscrapers in the city. Despite initially only wanting to pursue roofing as a hobby, photography naturally became a big part of his desire to truly capture and record the viewpoints from the ‘top’. Disregarding the perceived complexity of the tools needed to perform such tasks, Roger
affirms that equipment-wise, one simply needs a camera, a wide-angle lens (to capture the whole experience), and "balls". Technical equipment aside, he strongly emphasizes that whilst one has to be "fearless" to engage in roofing, it is extremely important to draw a line at where they don’t feel comfortable or if they have reached their limit. Roger also elaborates on the wide range of emotions felt through successfully getting up to a roof, and the incentives pushing him to continue his passion and scout for more. He touches on the surreal sense of liberation that he had experienced when roofing, in that he is able to semi-escape the hustle and bustle of the city through experiencing it from a bird's-eye-view, absent from all the noise, the traffic and the city's hecticness in general. In terms of his most memorable and beautiful roofing experience, Roger provides two separate examples. Based on the memo of ‘significant roofing experiences’, he gives us insight into a roof-topping adventure spent on a fourty-story building in Shenzhen. Essentially, the
story entails putting his sister’s camera down near the edge of the building, watching it fall, eventually hearing an explosive slam on the ground, and somehow attempting to escape using the fastest and most convenient means possible. When mentioning his favorite rooftop in the city, he describes the experience of going into a half-finished loft apartment complex in Kennedy Town, alighting about fifty floors due to the inactive elevators at the time, but finally reaching a truly breath-taking view like no other.

aded Youth stands as an artistic representation of eighteen-year-old Sam Ng’s coming-of-age narrative as a teenager. In regards to the concept and inspiration behind the collection of pieces, Ng states that fundamentally, Jaded Youth depicts the emotional vulnerability of being a teenager from both a personal and somewhat general standpoint. She further personifies this teenage experience by adding her own unique spin on this state of discontent that is prominent among youth. Through manipulating her sketches by adding loud, vibrant colors and an exaggerated ‘melting effect' on her images, she places emphasis on both the mental and physical sense of hecticness and entrapment experienced as a teenager in Hong Kong.

By examining the concept of ‘melting’, she intertwines the experience of growing up in the hot, humid and bustling environment of Hong Kong, as well as the emotional pressures of searching for self-identification and success as a teenager. Through comparing the notion of an ice cream melting when in contact with heat, and the physical and mental ‘melting’ of humans during times of stress and vulnerability, she draws attention to the importance and normality of accepting such weaknesses in their barest form. From a young age, art had always been a therapeutic outlet for Sam - a way to channel her thoughts into actually making something tangible and memorable. When asked about her current favorite piece, she laughs and touches upon the difficulties in finding favorites due to the highly personal and time-consuming nature of each art piece. However, having recently gone through a mild artistic block, she comments on her most relevant piece: The Raven. Consisting of a raven perched up against a slimy green background and a melting “Where did my creativity go?” phrase placed above its head, The Raven is reflective of a state that many artists stumble upon. Sam uses the piece as a reminder that such instances are normal amongst all, reinforcing the ‘melting’ notion experienced by such moments of stress. Sam will be embarking on her journey as an urban millennial heading off to college. She reveals that she will be looking forward to watching her art develop alongside her transition into young adulthood, as well as her departure from the heat and humidity of Hong Kong. Perhaps then, she wouldn't be ‘jaded’ no more.

" Wha t soun ds good , stick s" cozily cramped studio space amidst a loaded industrial building houses the workplace of Thud, a local dream pop and shoegaze band like no other. Performing alongside San Francisco-based dream pop group The Bilinda Butchers during their Asia tour, and releasing their debut Extended Play Floret and single album Prime of Pride, Thud has made a name for themselves in the scene. Having discovered their shared passion for music during the quondam times of teenage youth, members Kim, Sky, Andy, Cheuk Wang and Cheuk Wai gathered for a whimsical, collaborative dreamweaving session.

“We would’ve went to see The Bilinda Butchers perform at The Attic, even if we weren’t invited as guest performers”, stated the members of Thud, “Their music inspired ours”. The merging of five very distinct souls in the name of music is not a simple process, and the coalescence of these different elements defines and sculpts their work. “We are weary of using particular terms to describe our sound, because it tends to limit our creativity, and that’s something we don’t want”. Thud’s debut EP album Floret represents the group’s very own breakthrough. With a lack of prior experience in producing physical albums, Floret symbolizes a

quantum leap for the group in terms of recording, production and creative processing. “A lot of the times we are experimenting, as we do not begin with a particular concept in mind when we are writing and producing music. What sounds good, sticks”. Shoegaze or not, Thud creates, and it so happens to fit this particular genre of music. Kim, vocalist of Thud, writes the lyrics to all of the songs in their discography to date. She reveals that she carries around a notepad of ideas, imaginations and personal experiences, where she jots down future lyrics-

to-be that she shares with her bandmates during their biweekly gatherings at the studio. All creations are born within the studio space, and the rundown is inviting and involving, as it incorporates the distinct personalities, interests and music tastes of all the members. “Our interests and music tastes are similar in general, but quite distinct at a deeper level”. The members and their relationship as lifelong friends allows their artistic synergy to become smoother and more powerful, as they make music without regrets or thoughts of coming to a halt.
The members of Thud stated with humility that the dream pop and shoegaze culture is not theirs to expand. “We are focusing on doing what we do best, because that is where our passion lies. We are not looking in particular to cultivate the dream pop culture or genre per se, as there are many musicians and groups all around Asia that resonate with the dream pop and shoegaze scene”. More importantly, listeners are able to gain a deeper understanding of the genre after listening to Thud’s music, and to the members, this outcome is sufficient.

Zac Cirivello urning Man is an experience like no other. Using the phrases “a communal permission engine” and “a temporary city”, Media Relations Coordinator Zac Cirivello tells BOOM his vision of the experience, and why it differentiates from conventional festivals around the world. The annual event at Nevada’s Black Rock Desert aims to engage attendees, creators and locals into manifesting a community of creativity and self-expression, sculpting a village of progressive culture and exchanges. Cirivello describes Burning Man as a “civic community with a fully operational post office, airport, restaurants, clubs, medical centers, coffee shops,
and everything else you would find in any other city”. Within this community, attendees are able to become the creators, instead of being restricted as part of an audience body searching for entertainment. Black Rock City, the outcome, is a co-creation that allows for people to “have their own best version of the best time ever, whatever that may mean”. By manifesting this infectious joy, people can become inspired by what they are capable of contributing. “With the exception of ice and coffee, there is no money changing hands and nothing for sale”, Cirivello adds, “it is amazing how the quality of interpersonal interactions are changed when individuals are valued not for what they own, but for what they do and how they contribute. Cirivello hopes for a thriving kickstart in their newest project - a 3,800 acre parcel of land in Northern Nevada: “for decades people have wondered what could be done with a year-round location and now we have the exciting opportunity to find out”.

The boredom, detachment and resentment that Cirivello had felt towards the conventional separation between producers and consumers of an event, as well as the unfortunate commercialization of potentially transformative experiences, was ultimately what led him to take on his current project. “We design a context, not curate the content”, he states, “I learned that the organization is using a very different model”. He admits that Burning Man pushes him to make values-based decisions, a challenge that requires rigorous thought placed towards cultural implications during the process. “As an organization we often have to be a neutral party not defining the right way to do something or declaring what Burning Man should be”, he highlights, “it makes things more complex, but therein lies the magic of people finding their own way to do things and discovering a meaning that really

s one of the biggest dance music festivals in Indonesia, Kevin Wiyarnanda of Djakarta Warehouse Project sits down to discuss the intricacies of putting together the festival and his personal reasons behind being apart of the team. Describing his festival as "massive, diverse, uniting and celebratory", he very much epitomizes what the festival experience offers to audiences. Priding himself in the festival's musical diversity (with the lineup compiled of a range of both underground and mainstream acts), he states that while the headlining acts are important, the festival also thrives on introducing newer musical talents to their attendees. He also expresses his love for the uniting and celebratory nature of the festival, presenting it as a platform for electronic-music lovers all over the country to gather and celebrate a mutual love for such art forms. Inspired by being an avidfestival and concert-goer since his teenage years, Wiyarnanda expresses the very rewarding aspects of being a part of the creative process of DWP. Ultimately, his creative input in the festivals planning and logistics stands as a manifestation of his experiences growing up and having first-hand knowledge of what audiences want to take away from their experiences. Logistically, however, he does share the somewhat tedious process behind festival planning; from marketing the festival efficiently, to aligning the festival’s schedule with potential artists' availability, he opens up about the challenges faced in creating

a dance festival as big as DWP. By prioritizing design as a major component to a successful festival, he utters the importance of successful marketing in order to urge both new and old audiences to continue attending the festival. From designing a user-friendly website, to creating accessible platforms equipped with information regarding the festival, he credits the importance of incorporating such logistical elements to the success of the festival. However, he views the complexity of the process as a good kind of challenge, one with extremely rewarding results once finalized. For Wiyarnanda, being a part of the sixteen-person Ismaya team extends beyond the logistical success of the festival. He shares the mutual sense of
satisfaction experienced within the team when witnessing mass audiences "having the time of their lives" on the dance floor. With their 2015 line-up featuring artists, such as Major Lazer, Armin Van Buren, and Duke Dumont, Wiyarnanda describes 2015 as their most memorable year due to their impeccable line-up. However, he states that the organization adheres to the ‘best is yet to come' motto, and thus tries to improve the festival each year by taking into account the flaws of previous years to constantly be improving the festival experience on an annual basis. When asked about his alltime favorite global festivals, he mentions frequently attending Laneway Festival in Singapore, and describes it as both a
breathtaking and somewhat surreal, atmospheric experience. From the backdrop of the Marina Bay Sands to the barbershop available to audiences in need of a "quick trim", he elaborates on the complexity and beauty of the festival experience as a whole. In terms of expansion, Wiyarnanda simply states that he wants the festival to stand as a platform to put Indonesia "on the map" musically, and to make it appeal as a hub for musiclovers all over the continent. From Diplo crowd surfing in an inflatable ball, to sharing love and positivity amongst fellow festival-goers, DWP stands as a hub for electronic-music lovers to gather in celebration through dance and music. Petros Papaeleftheriou s the new kid on the block, Greece’s brand new seven-day music festival, Odyssia, will be launching in September 2016. Amidst the idyllic, breathtaking setting of the Greek fisherman’s village Schinos, Odyssia intends to bring smiles, dances, memories and a festive journey to all attendees, crafting a haven of culture and influence. Petros Papaeleftheriou, Founder and Creative Director of Odyssia, talks to us about the creative process behind the production. For the past twenty-five years, Papaeleftheriou had dedicated himself towards bringing a “clean and healthy, professional entertainment service to the people”. He reveals that the overall journey and his love of music had kept him traversing down his
current route, as his family had also been involved in the industry and worked to create unforgettable memories to all that have witnessed their efforts. He describes large-scale music festivals as untrodden territory in Greece, and with a project as daring as Odyssia, there will be obstacles to overcome: “our mission is to successfully accomplish an event to the highest possible standard, with everything from the line-up to the non-music activities, [placing] it on the global festival map in the best possible way”. Papaeleftheriou takes pride in being able to place his own country on the festival travellers’ map. “I live in one of the most beautiful countries in the world. I want our guests to taste and feel this country's vibe!” In Papaeleftheriou’s opinion, the
most important elements of Odyssia that festival-goers from all around the world take away would be the memories and experience: “I want to leave them with memories that would make them smile every time they think of the sunny days at Odyssia”. He informs us about an array of items on his checklist for producing a successful, largescale music festival, including the multidiversity of the audience, the vibes of the dance floor and the stage, the perfect combination and synergy of the DJs and performance line-up, the duration of the entire festival, and the community created by the audience, the artists, the staff and the locals as one. He emphasizes that “it is very important for a festival starting at 11am and finishing at 6am the next day - for seven days - to have the right flow to keep the people interested and energized to last for an entire week. It is all about the journey!”

Some of the best dating places in summer often include the beach, the rooftop, and the park. For some lovebirds, these places seem to evoke a “been there, done that” vibe. Without much choices left, staying at home and cuddling each other in front of TV doesn’t look all that bad, especially when the heatwave hits in summer. The real question then lies within the screen, and what it should play. Action movies? The protagonists seem to be plot-armored. Animations? Too children and family-friendly. The following list of movies feature simple romance, one ideally for two lovebirds to find resonance in.

knowing it. One day, she meets Henry, who thinks that he has found the girl of his dreams and swears that he will make her fall for him once more. The movie is so entertaining yet touching, especially the scene where Lucy paints Henry’s face on a wall. The chemistry between the two stars is what makes the movie different from all the other Sandler films, that we all cannot help but to roll our eyes while watching.

This summer, White Cube houses Gabriel Orozco’s first solo exhibition in Hong Kong, depicting the locality and context of his readymade installations. With his most recent artistic endeavors set in Tokyo, Orozco turns to watercolour, an esteemed medium in traditional Chinese and Japanese art, as well as gold cardboard grounds and brushes sized to Japanese standards. He focuses on geometrical aesthetics, redefining it with nature and breaking its conventional alliance with a mechanical form.

Another Omni Art's creations are located at the entrance of Kowloon Park and Yau Ma Tei Public Square Street. They have transformed the public stairway into a little garden, where pairs of swans in the pool greet people as they traverse the area. In merely a minute distance, another stairway greets the eye, as four musicians play strings for their audience on the other side of the entrance. Yau Ma Tei Public Square Street stair is a scenery of flora and fauna, illustrating caricatures of sunflowers, roses, tulips, daisies and lavenders. WHEN MADNESS COMES AROUND pon hearing about the opening of the South Korean restaurant chain Mad for Garlic in Times Square, Causeway Bay, I was as pleasantly surprised as I was skeptical about the eatery. Inspired by Italian classics, Mad for Garlic took its titular name from its keen fondness for garlic, a national food in South Korea. Accentuated by this Korean twist on many of its Italian dishes, Mad for Garlic has lived up to its name since 2001 with fourty joints across the nation and an ever-growing popularity both at home and abroad. But could the charm of the place be replicated in the local culinary scene? It was that very question that sent me on a quest to find out more. Claiming to win the hearts of many food critics and customers back home, I was lucky enough to try four out of the eatery's numerous signature dishes. First up in my gastronomical journey were the Garlicpeno Pasta and Garlic Steak. The former, specially prepared with cloves of garlic, finely chopped Mexican peppers and anchovies, already packed a strong punch. Just a twirl of pasta, on hindsight, could do the tricks. The heat coming from the Mexican peppers and anchovies did not only rock my taste buds,

but also zapped the back of my oral cavity with its acerbic nature. The residue lingered long and hard enough that a cup of iced water couldn’t easily stamp out. Though the taste was pungently strong, the first dish immediately earned my smiles. Working in tandem with the pasta, Garlic Steak sent me to an even greater altitude on the taste scale. Different from the preparation of ordinary steaks, the protein was first grilled. To prevent the steak from getting overcooked by the pan, a layer of onions was tactfully placed below the protein, and the combination was then topped with sautéed garlic and crispy light brown garlic chips. Surely living up to its name 'Garlic Mountain', this dish had an insane amount of garlic that could easily induce a bad smell. Seeing how this dish might turn off customers, I was graciously offered a wide selection of wines to pair with this dish. In the Hong Kong branch, the Italian Montefalco Rosso, a private label vintage produced in-house, was featured. This wine, coming out dry, was a perfect beverage to counter the pungent taste of garlic. All in all, not only did this dish win hands-down in the garlic department, it also packed

a similarly powerful punch to the pasta in terms of heat and smell. The third dish, however, was one to remember. The Garlic Snowing Pizza, a crispy, thincrusted sort topped with shrimps, sliced pineapples, and fried garlic chips, had the perfect balance of flavors that my culinary palette had ever experienced. Upon serving, the waiter grinded dashes of Parmesan cheese on the masterpiece, further lifting the pizza's flavor and aromatic intensity. My tongue picked up the sweetness of the pineapple as it merged coherently with the taste of the garlic and the saltiness of the Parmesan cheese. I was delighted by the sight of the burned-out edges of the crust and blissfully satiated upon encountering the scrumptious bites of melted cheese-coated shrimps, juicy pineapples, and flavorful garlic chips.
My meal ended with a scoop of house-made vanilla ice cream served atop a banana pizza with a Nutella chocolate spread. Almost like the yin-yang symbol, the vanilla ice-cream and the garlic-laden pizza worked complimentary to each other. As a means of conclusion, the dessert somewhat brought my body back to a state of homeostasis; a sweet and salty treat to refresh the palette. Having checked out Mad for Garlic, I found the store to be walking down a trail of success that its Korean chain has blazed behind. Addionally, it also took the concept of balance from its dishes to the interior design. With the dimly lit decor, the showcase of wines, and the overall "chilled" vibes, one could not hope for a more complementary gastronomical and visual experience.

With a cool look and his mistakenly ‘cold’ vibes, Carlos is anything but. He is not only considerate, but also modest. With an expanse of knowledge, he wins his customer’s heart. Running a cozy theme makes the bar a quieter place than its competitors. Summertime is best for a bottle of champagne. Differing from other brands, Bourgeois-Diaz is a champagne with a high cost-performance ratio and a production process monitored by the wine estate owner. In terms of its olfactory impact, the scent of the nectar draws out the smell of baked pastry. The fruitiness and the acidity are well-balanced, exact, and exquisite, allowing it to become distinct from its counterparts in large wine estates. French wine is the bar’s signature, alongside bottles from Spanish and Italian vineyards. The price is also reasonable, considering that the price of Romanee Saint Vivant from the world’s greatest wine producer

DRC is only a few hundred dollars more than that in the retailer. An interesting aspect of this place is that it has a wide array of wine glasses and an abundance of old red wines. It’s not surprising to be able to find one’s birth year here. This place would make a great destination for fine wine tasting. Cocktails wise, the Japanese female bartender graciously formulates drinks for each customer. As for whiskey, the soughtafter Japanese whiskey is certainly in the picture. However, the Scotch whiskey steals the spotlight. Having traveled around the world, Richmond had often searched for rare kinds of whiskey and collected them in his cellar, sharing his love for whiskey with the wine-lovers and the customers. So a lot of whiskey only comes in one bottle. Down it and it’s gone. For customers to appreciate every sip of the wine, every cup of whiskey is set at 40 ml, a third more than those served in normal bars.
First up is the 2015 Blend Malt whiskey, a coveted drink for many wine lovers. The face of the drink’s emblem is the Hegemon King of the movie Hegemon-King Bids Farewell to His Concubine. The taste is down-to-earth, tinged with spice, dried orange peel, and mocha chocolate. The balance of flavors ends with a little heat. Carlos also provides tailored services for his customers. Through his manually shaved ice, he is able to not only deliver more pellucid ice to his customers, but also make the ice melt slower so the whiskey won’t get bland too fast. Port Ellen 31’ Single Malt is a renowned distillery, a dreamcome-true for many whiskey fans. As well-known Single Malt is long since closed up, the whiskey, originated in Islay, Scotland, has the smell of peat unique to island, oysters, moss, ores, and dried fruit truffle. The flavor is complex, smooth, which provides a lingering taste, and its scent making people swoon.

Korean Diss Rap 101 urn on a beat with a riff on loop, jot down the punchlines, gear up the war mentality, and you will have a diss track ready to be unleashed. Battle rap and diss rap are prominent features of the HipHop genre, and have originated from the East Coast Hip-Hop scene over forty years ago. In South Korean Hip-Hop, diss rap reveals similar narratives and purposes – to express opinions, tell stories, and put people in their places. Diss rap is fun, armed with clever punchlines that throw fists at its opponents, a piercing form of artistic wit in the local pop culture market. Rappers spit about the scene, themselves and fellow rappers, and the tense waiting period between the release of a

diss track and a counterattacking track is what many fans (myself included) anticipate. What do South Korean rappers diss each other about? One topic of conflict is the racial and cultural identity of the rappers and their works, exemplified by TakeOne’s diss track against Keith Ape. Long story short, summer 2015 saw Keith Ape’s “Korean rap, it sucks. Bad” comment, triggering a lyrical launch from rapper TakeOne. “The same skin, the same hair color / How are we different? They want to hide it, the yellow skin is a weakness / The place where my bones will be buried: the USA”, reads TakeOne’s diss track ‘Come Back Home’, as he defends Korean Hip-Hop with a patriotic retaliation. Rapper E-sens was part of the Control beat incident against his ex-label Amoeba Culture. narrow appreciation for no other crew apart from The Cohort prompts TakeOne’s relaying of a clean-cut message: to call Keith Ape out for demeaning the community that led him to where he stands today. The Control track incident was a fairly recent diss conflict that had shook the Korean HipHop community and involved over twenty rappers, crews and labels in a domino effect. The name of the incident was derived from Big Sean’s track ‘Control’, which was first used by rapper Swings in his track ‘King Swings’ and spreaded in the Korean HipHop community as the defaulted beat for disses. Rappers that have jumped on the bandwagon to voice out using the track included Ugly Duck, TakeOne, Deepflow, E-sens, Gaeko and Simon Dominic, amongst others. The whole occurrence

is intriguing because it is like a narrative, with plotlines involving multiple perspectives, revealing attacks on slave contracts, crew dynamics and the changing HipHop scene. The severed relations between rappers were exposed through lyrical and creative means, portraying the rawness with which they utilize to attack their enemies: the medium that they are most familiar with. The incident raises alternative questions, as voices and commentaries have surfaced. Diss rap is an inherent characteristic of the genre, however, it is not a defining part. ‘King Swings’ triggered a chain of anger, but many have debated on whether it should be considered a diss track. It was just brutally honest:the HipHop scene needed a boost and some extra energy, aptly put by the line, “there’s one thing better than sex, and that’s succeeding”.

The grease found in milk can protect the gastric wall, and this helps to slow down the absorption of alcohol in the stomach. Still feeling ill the next day? Don't worry! There are more drinks that can help alleviate the gross feeling of hangovers. To alleviate the mucky feeling from hangovers, it is essential to accelerate the decomposition of alcohol. Juice and Spirit can help. Fructose inside the juice can accelerate the metabolism of alcohol and cure nausea. The ADH inside alcohol turns into ALDH, the major element that causes hangovers, and the consequent feelings of nausea and dizziness. Spirit can also help accelerate ALDH decomposition. Apart from the decomposition of alcohol, supplementary of water is another important thing. Alcohol makes our body dehydrated. ast month, a scuffle between a cab driver and three disc jockeys from a commercial radio station has brought a case of crazy celebrity stalking under the media spotlight. The cab driver is a rabid fan of one of the female DJs, and had tracked and harassed her over the phone. The female DJ had sought help from the police in April, but they had failed to catch him. It is not merely a simple case that induces jaw drops, but one that causes grief and anger in its wake. It is grief-inducing because the mad man is a nutcase on loose without proper psychiatric attention that he needs. Western celebrities have seen a lot of rabid fans. But why do these fans know the tracks of artist? I believe that artists have their own responsibilities too. In the era of social media, artists cannot live without platforms such as Instagram and Weibo. Artists 'check-in', update and upload photos all the time. Some of them upload photos that look quite sexy and exposed. They do it for higher popularity. They gain followers on social platforms for popularity and vanity. However, this generates reverie in the minds of rabid fans. Once the potential of strangers turning into stalkers is realized,

the potential of online stalking turning into physical stalking will also increase. I don't think the game is worth the candle. Artists have a certain degree of popularity. tfvsjs is an independent instrumental rock/post-rock/math rock band that possesses an individualistic sound. The five-piece band performs in a “drum-double” format, presenting a striking aura. After waiting three years after merely their debut album equal unequals to equal, tfvsjs has finally released their second album Zoi. The band manages a restaurant in an industrial building – ‘SYUT’, and Zoi was recorded in Battle Stage, a hidden recording studio at the same location. It was also produced by Mino Takaaki, guitarist of renowned Japanese math rock band Toe. After suffering a period of citywide hardships in Hong Kong, tfvsjs had adjusted musically. Instead of slipping pleasant rock instrumentals between impactful melodies, they had presented a darker side to their usual style. From the opening number ‘Burn All Flags’ and the silently distressed atmosphere, to the dark ambient guitar piece ‘Suspend’, a powerful juxtaposition to the rhythmically condense rock numbers was generated. 毋庸置疑，tfvsjs是香港來得風格甚別樹一幟的器樂搖滾／後搖滾／數

Last year, ex-Moloko vocalist Róisín Murphy released her long-awaited comeback album Hairless Toy after eight years, and unexpectedly, another album was born after merely one year’s time. It does seem like she is getting on track and producing. Murphy is from Ireland, and her fourth solo album Take Her Up To Monto was named after a traditional Irish folk song (proliferated by The Dubliners in the '60s). She collaborated with Eddie Stevens, her top partner-in-crime, yet again. The album continues to present Murphy’s strikingly multifaceted and high-quality sound. The opening track ‘Mastermind’ is a nu-disco number with graceful vibes, while ‘Pretty Gardens’ is a dramatic cabaret-jazz number. ‘Lip Service’ is a pleasing throwback track, while ‘Ten Miles High’ is her most prided piece in the compilation. Additionally, the dreamy ballad ‘Whatever’ illuminates beauty and grace, and ‘Nervous Sleep’ presents breathtaking imageries through wistful electronic sounds. 前Moloko女主唱Róisín

The Devon-based band Metronomy is led by Joseph Mount. Yet, their fifth album Summer 08 is a one-man studio production, throwing back to ten years ago, when Metronomy’s debut album Pip Paine (Pay the £5000 You Owe) was born. Thus, in Summer 08, Metronomy had focused on returning to the electro-pop sound, presenting an apparent contrast from Love Letters that was recorded with the input of all four members. Mount’s tracks are, as usual, pleasing to the ear, as ‘Night Owl’ is reminiscent of a romantic cityscape, and ‘Hang Me Out To Dry’, a collaboration with the queen of Swedish electronic music Robyn, illustrates a dreamy ambience with jazz undertones. ‘Old Skool’ is an electro-funk number from the '80s with scratchin’ instrumentals mixed by American turntablist Mix Master Mike. Factory Floor, British electronic band under the New Yorkbased DFA Records, emits cultish vibes. Their techno sounds are evocative of either a post-punk or post-industrial era, as the band had collaborated musically with Stephen Morris of New Order, Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti (Throbbing Gristle/Chris & Cosey). Succeeding the album Factory Floor from three years back, the band had transformed from a trio to a duo that consists of members Nik Void and Gabriel Gurnsey. Their second album 25 25 leans towards minimal sounds with an energetic tinge, as well as an electronic dance style that is replicated and highlighted in live performances. Opening number ‘Dial Me In’ and outro track ‘Meet Me At The End’ both radiate acidic overtones, while their second single ‘Ya’ generates a raw electric sound with a distorted, industrialized twist. REVIEW: PIONEER TORAIZ SP-16 Professional sampler
t’s been quite a year for Pioneer, apart from their own rekordbox invasion on both soft, hardware and Mixer DJM S-9, they have also just come up with a HARDWARE SAMPLER! Other brands tend to make samplers that intergrate with computers, making them a controller that works along your DAW. Octatrack from Elektron seems to be the only choice before SP16 if you’re into the hardware route (but the unit’s complicated architecture scares most people away). As the Korg electribe sampler teased the pro market, Pioneer had answered the high-end market with their latest hardware, for those aren't planning to get a BFA on menu reading. First of all, it uses dead simple 16-step sequencing, I’m already making patterns with the pre-installed loopmaster samples (2GB of them) within the first fifteen mins. There’s

also a touchstrip which allows you to adjust the pitch and repeat ratio on the fly, plus a sweet analog filter coutersy of Dave Smith, the synth giant! There are also eight stereo outputs, a long-lost option for manufacturers due to production cost. But since SP16 is designed for live and hardware performances, the amount of output makes it dead-easy to hook up on external effects and mixers for further processing. Last but not least, the Pioneer Pro DJ Link option also makes it a breeze to use in the club, alongside the industry's stand pioneer equipment.
The name 'Gravity Alterstra' consists of three words: 'Gravity', 'Alternation' and 'Orchestra', aiming at producing electronic compositions that make you forget about gravity, and dance like there's no tomorrow. Recently, I revisited pioneering German Krautrock group Can’s classic title ‘I Want More’, and the special edition released in 2006 for their thirtieth anniversary, a minute item of seven inches. This version is ten years old, and upon reencountering it, I am immediately reminded that the single itself has already been released for forty years. ‘I Want More’ is the opening number of Can’s 1976 album Flow Motion, the second album after Landed that the band had recorded at the British-owned Virgin Records (it was still an independent record brand at the time). Back then, the band was made up of the core four: Holger Czukay, Irmin Schmidt, Jaki Liebezeit and Michael Karoli. Keyboard player Schmidt contributes his quirky vocals to ‘I Want More’, however, the focus lies in Can’s muse:

Skateboarding was misunderstood as a street crime, and skateboarders are now getting misunderstood, yet again.
According to reliable sources, during the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, there will be a few categorical additions, unprecedented in the Olympic history. One of them will be skateboarding. To a lot of people that don’t understanding skateboarding, this would mean something like: "that’s good, skateboarding can finally become the subject of attention, into the hall, better than a street thing", but for those who understand the skateboarding culture, it is most definitely not a sport. To discuss this issue, we must first know what the term 'competition' constitutes. High jump, long jump or racing,
there will surely be a winner; to score the most points in a given time (such as in basketball, football and baseball games) or first to score a certain point (such as in tennis, volleyball and table tennis), one can clearly identify the winner. Thus, we can call this a competition. To include skateboarding in the Olympic games, we must first decide how to compete. A few years back, there was a skateboarding competition that had a good scoring system in the U.S., the 'Street League', they obtained the ESPN and an array of American corporate sponsors, so that the general public have access to skateboarding competitions, the base on the difficulties, the
completion and the smoothness of the tricks to score. But the question arises: who said trick C should score more than trick B? Every skater has their own favorite moves that belong to themselves. If skater A can make a perfect trick B, but skater B can do trick C but not smooth, who should get higher scores? With this unclear and unfair scoring system, how can this format be shown in the Olympic games? Skateboard culture is to promote originality and creativity, but with this scoring system, skateboarders will slowly slip into fancy diving like, for the sake of scores, everyone else is doing extremely difficult mechanical moves which will loose the core
of skateboarding culture. Therefore, there are different voices all over the world, some that support and others that object. Personally, I believe that skateboarding as a sport is a trend that you cannot decline, because the economic benefits from turning skateboarding to sport is huge, and the opportunities that go to multimedia advertising, beverages, sports shoes, clothing, music, photography, illustration, among others, are also unprecedented. However, skateboarding is an attitude to life, rather than just a sport. In the near future, the street skateboarding culture will gradually become

In this hot summer, while everybody is trying to keep in shape for their bikinis, I should be writing an article about dieting or exercisig. However, there is a voice that keeps reminding me to write this instead: “Embrace Yourself”. Mainstream media nowadays keep sending the message of “thin is beautiful” to the public. That is why all the girls in this universe are saying “I’m on a diet”. Whenever they are having a meal, calculating their calorie intake is a must. Eating more always causes bad feeling to themselves. How sad and poor can this life get?! There are people who are born to gain weight easily, so it is difficult for them to become so-called thin even when they do a lot of exercise. If you don’t want to hate your body forever, then stop trying to be thin and embrace your curvy body. Tess Holliday, 31, is an American plus-size model with the size 26. She has been on the cover of Marie Claire. Though she had been bullied because of her curvy body since she was young, it didn’t stop her from pursuing her dream: being a model. Her insistence on being a model enables her to be named by Vogue Magazine as one of the top six plus-size models in the world. In 2015, she was even
signed to the mainstream model agency MiLK Management. Tess had also launched a project named 'Eff Your Beauty Standards' to encourage people to upload pictures of their own body onto Instagram while tagging the project, regardless of their weight and body size. She wanted people to know that beauty lies in the act of appreciating one's own self. James Tang@Metro Broadcast What types of music were you exposed to the most when you were studying in the States? I loved listening to the radio while I drove. I was exposed to pop and hip-hop music the most and I appreciate the hiphop culture. Why did you become a DJ? I came back to Hong Kong one summer and did not want to waste my time here. I joined Metro Radio and worked as an intern. After graduation, I wanted to make a name in the industry and Metro had given me a chance to learn. What is most satisfying about being a music radio DJ? I can be exposed to music faster than others, and know more about music. Also, sometimes I host talk shows with musical artists and they would appreciate my effort.

Tell us more about No More Lonely Night. I host this show every Saturday from 3 am to 7 am. In the first hour, listeners can request songs. They are mostly teenagers so common requests would be songs by Chinese artists such as Kwan Gor. I then share aspects of my daily life, and play my favourite foreign songs. As a music radio DJ, what are your guidelines for selecting which songs to play? The main aim is to bring good music to my listeners. I would go on Youtube and Billboard for the latest news and songs, and introduce them when I am hosting on-air. What is your interest? I love to sing, but working at the radio station requires me to multitask and I have gotten
