PHOTOGRAPHER CHEYANNA DE NICOLA WRITES... Brenna and Sabrina eloped in the mountains of Colorado earlier this year, and decided to throw a wedding, sans a ceremony, back in Brooklyn celebrating the nuptials with their nearest and dearest friends. It was a very intimate day, filled with so much energy. Brenna and Sabrina had a slow morning getting ready together, dressed in the same attire they eloped in. We ran around Brooklyn taking photos & receiving well wishes from strangers and then headed to Maison May where 70 of their closest friends greeted them and the most epic party awaited. REAL WEDDING

TELL US ABOUT YOUR WEDDING!

We got married in Manhattan, the place we fell in love. Our ceremony took place at Jefferson Market Garden and we were surrounded by our loved ones and greenery as we said our vows. Our reception was at The Nomad and the rooftop was stunning. There was no theme and the flow of the evening was very natural. We didn’t plan too many details and as a result the nightfelt very real. It was a day full of love, dancing and all the things that you’d want!

LET’S TALK WEDDING DECOR.

The Nomad took care of most of the setup and they did an exceptional job. There was layered careering and tapestry, chandeliers, it felt a little boho. My good friend Kristen did our flowers and amplified the decor with mercury candles.

WHAT WAS THE MOST ANTICIPATED MOMENT?

I loved the speeches. My sister (MOH) and Giles (Best man) spoke in addition to my best friend Julia and James’ dear friend Tristan. They were very entertaining and so personal.

BRYAN SARGENT PHOTOGRAPHY JEFFERSON MARKET GARDEN & THE NOMAD HOTEL NEW YORK, NY

WHAT WERE THE FLORALS LIKE?

Kristen took me to the flower market before the wedding to get a sense of our desired style. We chose lots of flowers native to Australia where my husband James is from. There was lots of eucalyptus too.

HOW DID YOU PERSONALIZE YOUR DAY?

The wedding decor was exceptional but we didn’t really plan too many details there, we left it to The Nomad and Kristen to make most of the decisions. Our favorite part was saying vows and speeches and dancing with our friends and family.

DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING DAY LOOK.

I purchased my dress from BHLDN, it was classic and simple. James purchased a blue Armani suit from Bloomingdales. We tried to keep our looks not too casual and reflective of our natural style.

ANY ADVICE FOR COUPLES WHO ARE GETTING MARRIED?

Get a dress from BHLDN, hire my photographer Bryan, don’t sweat the details and focus on the fact that you’ve found someone so special that you’re choosing to commit yourself to them forever. How incredible is that?

STATIONERY Art Paper Scissors, PHOTOGRAPHY 1. Dyanna LaMora, 2. Cassi Claire, 3. JainĂŠ Kershner Photography, 4. Idalia Photography

ADDING A PERSONAL TOUCH TO YOUR WEDDING INVITATIONS As a wedding stationery designer for almost a decade, I have had the incredible opportunity to meet so many amazing couples. I love hearing their sweet stories, from how they met to the day of their proposal. These stories, always unique, truly inspire us when crafting the perfect invitation design. We make sure to use these tales to capture the personalities and styles of our couples in their wedding stationery, incorporating personal touches that bring their designs to life.

CONSIDER YOUR WEDDING THEME AND THE OVERALL VIBE

We like to say that the save-the-dates and invitations set the tone for your big day. Decide as a couple what would mean the most to you in your wedding stationery. Once you decide on a theme or color scheme, you can figure out what styles and techniques you want to see from your stationery designer. Letterpress, foil stamping and deckled edging are some of the most popular techniques we use in our designs.

We’re shedding some light on the exciting wedding stationery journey, and offering some dream invitation design tips and tricks that will fit you and your partner perfectly. B ET ROT H EDMAGA Z INE.C OM |

GET CREATIVE WITH PAPER, COLORS, WORDING AND MORE

The possibilities are truly endless when it comes to designing your oneof-a-kind piece of stationery. There are so many options for paper, fonts, colors and accents. Truly, nothing is off limits! Your wedding venue is a source of great inspiration. If you are tying the knot by the beach, you can add nautical touches, shells, anchors or coral illustrations. For those getting married in the great outdoors, utilizing woodgrain texture adds depth and meaning to your designs. Tying everything together is another opportunity for personalization. Our couples love a custom wax seal, monogrammed tag or piece of greenery to finish off the design. Customization isn’t just for paper. The way your invitation reads can also reflect your personalities. Wording and information on save-the-dates and invitations can be formal or casual. Response cards can include cheeky ways for guests to RSVP –– something along the lines of “See you on the dance floor!” is a popular option for our couples –– or you can be more traditional.

USE YOUR FAVORITE MEMORIES, HOBBIES AND INTERESTS AS INSPIRATION

Maybe you both are proud dog parents and want to include your pup in your save-the-dates. Or, you might love hiking together and want to incorporate that passion into your invitations with rustic-inspired elements. If your first date was a special day for you both, showcase that memory into the menu design at the reception. Stationery is even more special when it is tied to something you two enjoy together.

STAY ON TRACK - AND ON BUDGET

The creative process is super exciting - but remember to stay on track with your wedding timeline! Save-the-dates should go out to close friends and family six to eight months before the big day. Invitations should be mailed out to guests about two months before your wedding. Be sure to meet with your stationer a few months ahead so you can customize your designs exactly as you’d like them. Sticking to your budget is important, too - calculate the numbers in advance so you can discuss what design elements are most important to you both, and how much everything will cost. Postage is always an added cost, so factor that in, too. Talk to your invitation designer about what types of invitations cost more to mail! WHATEVER YOUR STYLE, ART PAPER SCISSORS BRINGS YOUR WEDDING STATIONERY VISION TO LIFE. FROM SAVE-THE-DATES TO WEDDING INVITATIONS AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN, ART PAPER SCISSORS IS YOUR ONE-STOP-SHOP FOR ALL THINGS STATIONERY. OUR TEAM CREATES UNFORGETTABLE WEDDING INVITATIONS AND MORE THAT ARE COMPLETELY CUSTOMIZABLE FOR ANY COUPLE’S STYLE AND VISION. BRANSON MAXWELL PHOTO&VIDEO THE VESSEL NEW YORK, NY

PHOTOGRAPHER BRANSON MAXWELL WRITES... The inspiration behind this shoot was the Vessel building itself. The clean lines of the bride’s fitted dress and and the groom’s black suit mirrored the clean lines of the building. We kept the flowers simple with greenery and white flowers to give the shoot a modern feel. The minimalistic invitations and cake also complimented this spectacular landmark. This shoot is the perfect inspiration for anyone wanting to get married in New York City, especially those wanting a modern and minimalistic wedding.

HANNA SENDER OF BRIDE & BLISS shares details with Betrothed Magazine readers on keeping healthy leading up to your wedding day. PHOTOGRAPHY Brooklyn Wedding Photo

TIPS TO STAY HEALTHY FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY Hey there, lovely brides-to-be! Hanna here, founder of Bride and Bliss, where I work with brides-to-be on holistic nutrition and wellness so that they can look and feel the best they ever have throughout their engagement, on their wedding day, and beyond in a healthy and sustainable way. So, here’s the truth: there is a crazy amount of pressure on brides to look “perfect” on the big day. Between thedress, the photos, and the constant attention... it can be really overwhelming, stressful, and anxiety-producing. And what happens is: a sense of panic starts to set in. Like, the clock is suddenly ticking. And this enormous fear arises: what if it doesn’t happen? ⁣⁣⁣What if I don’tlook perfect?

⁣⁣⁣ what happens? You buy the expensive juice cleanse to So “kick start” your weight loss. You register for a spin class every day for a month straight (which, spoiler: is likely overdoing it for most people, and actually causing a lot of excess stress in your body.) You try one diet, then the next, and the next. You decide you’ll just crash diet (as in, basically not eat) a month before the wedding and that’ll be that.⁣⁣⁣ But here’s the thing: all of these “solutions” are focused on one thing only: weight loss. These types of behaviors promote under-nourishment, deprivation, and fear of food... and the minute the wedding is over, you’re right back to your old habits. But what if you shifted your perspective a bit?

B ET ROT H EDMAGA Z IN E.C OM |

What if you took this incredible amount of motivation and inspiration you’re feeling during this time, and did something really positive with it? What if you viewed this as the perfect opportunity to actually get healthy -- to make lasting, sustainable, hugely impactful shifts that would not only have you looking and feeling completely confident and radiant on your wedding day, but that would last long after the wedding day was over? ⁣⁣⁣ This is about embracing wellness and health over weight loss and “quick fixes” ... because when the wedding day is over, then what? Who do you want to be, and how do you want to feel, in this next chapter of your life? Big life changes like these are the perfect opportunity 58

|

BETR OTHED MAGAZI NE

to evaluate and shed what is no longer serving you -- be it negative thought patterns, unhealthy habits, toxic relationships, or excess weight -- so that you can step into this next chapter of your life as the best and brightest version of yourself. When you feel good in your body, it is fully reflected on the outside: you literally glow from within. And when you don’t feel good in your body -- that shows externally, too. When you’re depriving yourself of nourishment (important nutrients, vitamins, & minerals... as well as self-compassion, mindfulness, & self care) -- your body cannot possibly thrive. This is where symptoms like low energy, excess stress (the last thing you need right

now!), anxiety, acne, mood swings, and so much more come into the picture. And don’t get me wrong: you can certainly lose weight by subscribing to the 1,000 calorieper-day diet and “killing it” at the gym every day -many people do -- but you cannot achieve good health this way. Feeling deprived, hangry, and obsessive is not a sustainable way to live, and it’s certainly not the path that will allow you to feel the way you want to on the most important day of your life. So what do I advise instead? Get clear on your goals: decide how you truly want to feel and look on your wedding day (and beyond.) Start implementing stress management techniques sooner rather than later -- so

that when the inevitable stressful moments come up (you are planning a wedding, after all), you’ll be much more equipped to handle them. And finally - remember this: there will be endless opinions and unsolicited advice coming at you about the best wedding diet, the best wedding workout, and how your neighbor’s friend lost 15 pounds for her wedding... but YOU know what’s best for your body. And all the quick fixes in the world will not set you up to be your healthiest and happiest self throughout your engagement, on your wedding day, and beyond.
