Another month has gone by in a bizarre year for the wedding industry. Celebrations are getting more and more creative as couples decide on different ways to get excited about their love. As couples get creative, vendors are also flexing their muscles and showing how they can pivot and be versatile. We’re so impressed with some of the fun stuff we’re seeing, from Facetime weddings to social distance “gatherings” in safe, distanced locations. The different ways that couples are prioritizing their love stories despite the limitations they’re presented with is so inspiring. Have you seen any incredible ways that couples are celebrating? Let us know by tagging us on Instagram @betrothedmagazine, we’d love to see what you’re encountering! For now, enjoy another issue full of visual inspiration and fun, creative celebrations.

REAL WEDDING

Lauren & Bill

OLIVIA CHRISTINA PHOTOGRAPHY BASKING RIDGE COUNTRY CLUB BASKING RIDGE, NEW JERSEY

OLIVIA CHRISTINA PHOTOGRAPHY WRITES... A classic style country club wedding with floral arrangements to die for! Lauren and Bill had their wedding ceremony and reception at The Basking Ridge Country Club in early January of this year. After months of planning, the day came together with beautiful details from classic black tie styles of the bridal party members to the incredible floral arrangements that lay across the candlelit fireplaces in the ceremony room. Even when the weather threatened to rain on their parade, the couple took a chance on doing an outdoor first look and portraits in front of the sprawling country club golf course with light cloud coverage offering stunning lighting. Lauren and Bill spent the day with the happiest smiles on their faces as they listened to the speeches that had their guests in tears and as they tore up the dance floor with their closest friends and family members. STYLED SHOOT ARTVESTA STUDIO THE UPPER STORY NEW YORK, NEW YORK

ARTVESTA STUDIO WRITES... Everyone always wants something different, but what does that really mean for a wedding? By its very nature, weddings are imbued with tradition, rituals that make a wedding a wedding. Having said that, is there a way to personalize a wedding so that it feels authentic and reflects the couple who’s getting married? In essence, the inspiration behind this styled shoot was just that: how to take tradition and make it unique. We wanted a Parisian-inspired theme for this New York City shoot. In New York City, the possibilities are endless but for every wedding, you must prioritize the things you think are most important. This couple would be all about the food, and so started with a venue that they knew could provide the delish meal that all their guests would appreciate. The next big-ticket item was the flowers. We wanted lush, lively, unique arrangements and chose a color palette to reflect the mood we aimed to achieve: lavender and ivory with gold accents. The French plates on the sweetheart table provided just another touch of class. The stationery provided a warm winter feel with the lavender-velvet look that was used on the invitations and the menus. The main dinner table had a full, table-length ivory lace overlay. The clear chargers, purple candles, and gold vases were all carefully chosen to help enhance the dining experience. For a smaller space, we didn’t want large, traditional gowns, but wanted to add a little classic touch with the veil. Traditional bridesmaids’ dresses didn’t fit the bill either, so we went with shorter dresses with elaborate detailing. Every element, from the centerpiece down to the cake was carefully selected to provide a classic yet modern twist to a traditional rite of passage. Jewel Tones

STYLED SHOOT ELLA FARRELL WEDDINGS THE LACE FACTORY DEEP RIVER, CONNECTICUT

ABOUT THIS SHOOT...

Sarah Brehant planned and designed this edgy, jewel tone styled shoot to brighten up your winter and give inspiration for winter brides. Don’t be afraid to use color at your winter events! It’s so blase outside, why not lift your guests up with pops of color! We chose Ella Farrell Photography to shoot this because of her beautiful and bright photography. This gorgeous mood board can be used during any season but we wanted to showcase a bright color combination for winter brides. We combined edgy, modern, vintage and elegant in this shoot. A whimsical star gown debuted in this shoot, was designed by Jacqueline Bridal Kouture and totally stole the spotlight. It fit Deana like a glove and was the literal “star of the show.” We used minimal jewel-toned florals on the arbor and let the beautiful Lace Factory walls really stand out in the background. Uniquely Chic Vintage Rentals also debuted a beautiful green velvet couch that was perfect for the color scheme. Any deep color was really perfect for this color scheme so we mixed turquoise candles on the gold sweetheart table, lit under a big and bold floral installation by Sweet Talk Floral. 18

Anne & Andrew

REAL WEDDING

ABOUT THIS EVENT...

JOANNA FISHER PHOTOGRAPHY ROIA RESTAURANT & CAFE NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT

It was the most picturesque autumn day on the historic Campus of Yale University. The ever beautiful fall foliage set the perfect backdrop for a romantic day filled with love. Anne + Andrew met at Yale while Andrew was studying law and Anne was working in a campus laboratory on medical research. The day aligned perfectly for these two souls, perfect for one another. Their reception paired perfectly with their wedding theme which echoed pure class and elegance. ROIA, a former speakeasy hotel from the gilded age, had been transformed into a absolutely magnificent restaurant that stuns. It’s elegant in all the right ways, with high vaulted ceilings in their original glory and elegant modern finishes like red leather couches and and hints of New York City (only a short train ride away.)

However they still wanted to share their vows publicly with their friends and family and celebrate with them, so they threw and endless summer vibe wedding celebration on August 31st 2019. They envisioned, the evening as a magical communal experience that delights and charms, binding us together in the beauty of togetherness and love. They were excited to have friends and family meeting and dancing together for the first time, a dessert station of donuts and coffee ( in classic NYC take away cups) and even had a poet writing custom poems on site. Hannah and Jessie’s effortlessly chic summer wedding celebration was one for the books!

REAL WEDDING NICOLE NERO STUDIO FACETIME WEDDING

Peter & Stephanie

NICOLE NERO WRITES... A Covid-19 virtual elopement was the perfect way for these two lovelies, who had their official wedding plans postponed due to quarantine rules, to still keep their planned wedding date! They practiced social distancing and made things official in their backyard, with their pup roaming by their side (you’ll see him later)! They streamed their ceremony live via Event Live for their friends and family to watch (with no talking or audio from their dear friends and family, so it was just their words being shared). After the ceremony, we did a short facetime portrait session with all of my plants giving us a natural and pretty scene! It was PERFECT! I’m hoping that when they get to celebrate their wedding day in person, with friends and family, that they might play the video from today or have a few photos around as an awesome throwback to the day they made things official, still on their originally planned date! Cheers to the newlyweds!!! AHHHHHH!!! I cannot wait for round two!

Ali & Adam

REAL WEDDING ANTHONY TOMASSI PHOTOGRAPHY LATITUDE 41 MYSTIC, CONNECTICUT

IN THE WORDS OF THE COUPLE... We both went into the wedding planning process agreeing that we just wanted to throw an amazing party. All of our planning and logistics had that in mind. Most of my partner’s family is from out of town so we wanted them to fully experience the New England coast. We got married on the water at the Mystic Seaport in Mystic, CT. We did not have a theme but the color palette was white, navy blue and green. My partner is Jewish and I am Catholic so we wanted to incorporate both cultures in the ceremony to honor both families. We had a close family friend marry us under a chuppah. During the ceremony, my niece read a quote from the bible and at the end my partner ”broke the glass”. Our reception included The Horah dance and we were lifted on two chairs. Always remember that a wedding is about the bride and the groom. So many times I felt myself getting lost in the ”I want my guests to be happy” that I forgot about what makes me or my partner happy.

ENGAGEMENT TOM RUSSO PHOTOGRAPHY LLC LONG BEACH ISLAND LONG BEACH, NEW YORK

Jake & Nicole

TOM RUSSO WRITES... Ever since they got together, the couple has vacationed to Long Beach Island each summer with Jake’s entire family, and Nicole’s parents and friends join in as well. LBI is a special place for them, as it holds many memories of their families becoming close and their special vacations together there. Every setting there are at least five family members in the background cheering the couple on, and it made the session that much more special and memorable for everyone involved.
