ECAASU Holiday Benefit Concert
The East Coast Asian American Student Union, ECAASU, held a holiday benefit concert to showcase coming Asian American artists in the NYC area, and to encourage artistic expression among youth. Buying a ticket or raffle supports ECAASU's mission and programs, to inspire, educate and empower those interested in Asian American issues. This took place on Saturday January 2 at Jebon Sushi in Manhattan from 7 to 9 PM.
Reflection from Sandy Mui, our immediate past bulletin editor!! “The ECAASU Holiday Benefit Concert was a pleasant surprise with great food and performers. It was nice catching up with former BTHS Key Club President Jim Chan and Treasurer Kate Wong, while meeting new people and enjoying the food and performances. My favorite performer was violinist Yut Chia, who was absolutely extraordinary playing hip-hop on the violin. It was unlike anything I've ever heard before. You guys should check his group out (Yut and the Hot Four), their Star Wars Medley is out of this world! - Sandy Mui

January General Meeting
Thank you all who came to the January general meeting. It was a success and we tried to keep the meeting short because people had things to do afterwards. We talked about upcoming events and we had a small lecture on people signing up for events and not coming to them. My first time taking a selfie with a crowd. #yay #fun #KeyClub #meeting

Mulchfest Gowanus
It was the annual treecycling event! Volunteers helped collect trees in the Gowanus neighborhood to chip and ground into mulch at the Salt Lot. Gloves, snacks and drinks were provided. This took place on Sunday, January 10, 2016. No pictures were taken as only 10 people attended this event.

{THE GLASS DOOR: THE INTERNATIONAL BOARD BLOG} This month, the international board is preparing for their upcoming meeting in February! We are so excited to travel to our convention city, Atlanta! The committees have been hard at work this month. CGO (Committee for Growth and Outreach) is currently working on a webinar, CID is working on magazine initiatives and CSYOF is evaluating the YOF application. The trustees, Rip and I are currently preparing for district convention visits. We can’t wait to meet all of you in a few short months! {STARTING THE YEAR RIGHT} it’s out with the old and in with the new. A new year means a fresh start for everyone. Here are three challenges to make an impact in the world in 2016. 1. Give 12 compliments. This one might be a stretch if you’re an introvert. But, hey, why not make this a year of personal growth? Has someone ever randomly complimented you on something? Your new shoes, your haircut, your smile? All you have to do is pay it forward. At least once a month, just compliment someone. Sometimes the simplest positive comment can brighten someone’s day. 2. Practice 52 random acts of kindness. Has someone ever picked up the tab for you at a restaurant or held the door for you when your hands were full? Go out of your way this year to complete one random act of kindness every week. If it’s snowing outside, help someone scrape off his or her windshield. If it’s nice outside, hand out balloons to kids in the park. Here are more ideas to help you get started.
3. Give 100 hours of service. Most high school students do a lot more than just go to school seven hours a day, five days a week. Between homework, athletics, part-time jobs and other extracurricular activities, it’s hard to find free time to do more than catch up on a Netflix series. Before you start binge-watching “House of Cards” again from the beginning, challenge yourself to do something different. Source: http://www.keyclub.org/kcn/16-01-11/Starting_the_year_right.aspx
