the hog industry in Surigao del Sur produces only 26% of its annual commercial demand. This, according to DA Regional Technical Director Rebecca R. Atega, poses a huge potential for Marihatag farmers to step up their production. MAHRA President Virgilio A. Dalman said that the group envisions becoming an established hog supplier in Surigao del Sur. With the milling equipment, they will be able to cut down a portion of their production cost. This year, MAHRA will also obtain 40 heads of
hogs worth Php 1,398,000 with feeds support worth Php 1,016,000 from the Livestock Program. The said support contributes to the strengthening of the livestock industry in the region. Personnel from the DA RFO 13 led by Regional Technical Director Rebecca Atega and Livestock Coordinator Jekem D. Sanchez spearheaded the event in coordination with OPAg chief Quico and Marihatag Mayor Justin Marc Pelenio, and Municipal Agriculturist Bernardino attended the said event.
