Organic Vegetables!
CABBAGE P40, CARROTS P50, ROMAINE LETTUCE P80/KILO Starting today, I will help the organic vegetable farmers of Bukidnon sell their produce at a better price. I have imposed this new task upon myself because of the pain and disgust I felt when I learned during a visit this weekend to an organic vegetable farm in Miarayon, Talakag town that huge Organic Cabbage was priced at P10 per kilo. Organically grown Carrots was sold for P25 and violet Romaine Lettuce P40 per kilo. I checked the pricing on-line and realized that the gap between the farm gate and the market prices was simply Caraga INFOCUS
outrageous. During the visit, I asked tribal farmer leader Ryan Danio, a Talaandig, if his group could commit a steady supply for the market. He assured me they could provided the price is right. So, now I will act as their salesman and followers of this page who are interested could get in touch with me directly. Our minimum order for each commodity is 1 metric ton for areas in Mindanao while outside of Mindanao, it should be no less than 5 metric tons per delivery. I will ask the support of friends by investing in
reefer trucks to facilitate deliveries. The Romaine Lettuce and Cabbage could be available 2 months after an order is received and Carrots in 3 months. Other vegetable varieties could also be propagated on order. This is what I call MarketOriented Farming where the farmers will only produce commodities needed by the market. All of those who will engage these organic vegetable farmers who I now represent as a farmer myself will have to sign a “must purchase” agreement with corresponding deposits to protect the farmers.
