Q. What made you want to pursue a career as a DJ?

A. I first got inspired to pursue music when I was 8 years old. I was in Iran for about a year, and I was so happy to finally meet my whole family. My cousin Soheil and my uncle Behrooz introduced me to Hip Hop and Electronic music, incorporating break dancing in both art forms. My cousin Soheil gave me a “home-made CD” featuring Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and 50 Cent. Once I got back to Canada all I would do was listen to the same 10-15 songs on repeat. At this point, I knew I was going to work in something music related when I got older.

Q. Who would you consider to be a DJ Legend?

A. I consider YEHME2 to be a “DJ Legend”. I have had the blessing of being on stage with Mr. Young and honestly the way he pumps up the crowd, his music production, and music selection is what makes him a “DJ Legend”.

Q. Can you tell us what differentiate you from the rest of the DJ’s?

A. I don’t really see myself as different from other DJs. I think there is a beauty in being similar to others. We may each have our own fingerprint, but we are all human at the end of the day. I hope that my fans enjoy my unique style and I continue to see people smile and dance when I DJ.

Q. What are some of the challenges you’ve had being a DJ?

A. A major challenge for any DJ is to never stop believing in yourself. You have to keep going, no matter what. As DJs we love music, we love to see people happy and dancing. As long as we put our passion first, everything else will fall into place with consistent effort.

Q. If you could go anywhere in the world and perform, where would it be?

A. Tehran, Iran. I hope that one day the government of Iran will change their policies in regards to parties. I believe there “should not be any compulsion in faith” and Iran’s current policies does not reflect that. Until then, my beautiful Iranian people will have to come see me DJ in Istanbul, Türkiye.

Q. Where do you see yourself in the next three years?

A. In the next three years, I see myself even more healthy, grateful and beautiful. (Yes, I am beautiful).

Q. Can you tell us what has been one of your most memorable moments being a DJ?

A. I think my career has been full of very unique highlights and I am grateful for every amazing moment in this beautiful journey. I had the honor of touring with Yasiin Bey, FKA, and Mos Def for over half a decade. I also had the opportunity to be a part of the Black Star reunion tour. It was truly a majestic moment to behold.

Q. Are there any events or upcoming projects you are working on?

A. I’ve been producing a lot of electronic music, specifically house music. I have about 3 albums worth of unreleased music. I have some amazing singers, rappers and coproducers on these records! I can’t wait to share my music with the world, stay tuned!
