OCEAN CITY, MD - After 50 years with the Ocean City Beach Patrol (OCBP) and 45 years as a Pub lic-School educator in Charles County Maryland, Captain Butch Arbin has seen many young adults through both organizations. However, some stand out with very unique and special qualities. “Michael is one of a few who began his asso ciation with our Ocean City Junior Beach Patrol Pro gram and because of his individual strengths,” Arbin expresses. “[Michael] was able to become a Surf Res cue Technician at age 16, which is a year earlier than we allow other candidates.” Arbin continues, “Michael is an ambassador when it comes to dealing with the public and has responded to many emergencies, some of which involved life-or-death situations. In every situa tion, Michael remains calm, clear-headed, and performs all procedures as he had been trained to do. Young adults like Michael give me hope for the future of our country!”This is Michael’s second year working fulltime during the summer for OCBP. “It’s a great compet itive environment that push es me physically to improve myself and make faster decisions. I look forward to coming back to Ocean City every summer to work for Beach Patrol,” states Mi chael.

(c) 2022 Hearst Communications, Inc. All Rights Reserved NORTH EAST, Md. – The crack of a bat returns to the North East Campus of Ce cil College this fall as the Seahawks announce the hiring of Aaron J. Rouselle as the head softball coach. The Seahawks softball pro gram took a hit due to the pandemic, shelving the program for three seasons. When Rouselle learned of the vacancy, he jumped at the opportunity to reboot the program.“My vision is to re cruit from within the coun ty and then spread out. I envision making the Cecil College program a kind of Cecil County all-star team. The high school softball pro grams within the county are powerhouses from which I hope to form a collegiate level powerhouse,” said Rouselle.A Perryville High School graduate, Rouselle has coached youth base ball, softball, and basket ball for the past 15 years. Off the field, he operates Pop’s Culture in Rising Sun, a non-profit designed to provide mentorships and opportunities for local youth to participate in a sport. It is housed in a 2000-squarefoot indoor training facility on Joseph Biggs Memorial Highway.“I am deeply rooted within the community, which will benefit the rebuilding of Cecil College’s softball pro gram. The area high school coaches know my name and my commitment to seeing our local youth excel both on and off the playing field,” said Rouselle, who holds a degree in exercise science from Harford Community College.Rouselle has al ready reached out to the county’s softball coaches, realizing that many of the players have already com mitted to other programs. His goal is to recruit those athletes who are still look ing for a home to continue their softball careers head ing into the 2023 spring sea son. The goal for Rouselle’s first season will be to lay the program’s foundation, then come back for the 2024 sea son with a competitive team. “My role is not to teach them how to play softball. They know how to do that. I am here to teach them how to be competitive on this level and help them work through the long sea son with confidence and motivation,” said Rouselle. “My success has been in my ability to teach young play ers how to look at the bigger picture. I help them under stand and how to focus on what is best for the team.” Rouselle believes the lessons his student-ath letes learn on the field carry over into life.

What an AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL day it was!!! 16 teams, 201 players, 11 hours of ball playing, countless volunteers, wonderful raffle baskets, families and so much love gathered at Perryville Park today to support Jor dan and our family. Most I knew, some were strangers but the way our community came together was like nothing I’ve ever seen. The park was packed, not a parking space was open and it reminded me of all the years on opening day! No words can express what I’m feeling as I’m trying to just sit and relive the day. I am overwhelmed with the utmost joy. Todays fundraiser raised $6,812 and some change to go towards Jordan’s road to recovery and everything that goes with it. I have no words to express my gratitude. We would love to thank each and every player for dedicating their time out with us Totoday.the ones who put this entire event on, Kimberly Fetters, Clint Logan, Donna Logan, Courtney Barrett, Venus Arbuckle, Marie Harding Berg, Charles Bruff and anyone else I may have missed, we love you and thank you from the bottom of our Jordan’sJessicahearts!RiceMom FROM JORDAN’S JOURNEY SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT
