Cecil Celebrates Christmas As we transition from Fall to Winter Sports, Cecil County took a break this Saturday, from Chesapeake City to North East, and Rising Sun, to celebrate Christmas. Rising Sun Mayor Travis Marion has these thoughts on the day’s events: After a long year in which COVID restrictions have often kept many of us apart, it was great to gather as a community in North

East for the Cecil County Christmas Parade and at our 2nd annual Winter Extravaganza in Rising Sun. The Cecil County Christmas parade, which kicks off the holiday season had so many creative floats by local organizations and businesses this year. I truly enjoyed being apart of this great Cecil County tradition ! As the sun started to set and artificial snow started to fall Rising Sun’s Main

Street was transformed into what’s been called something out of a Hallmark movie. Winter Extravaganza had ice skating in main square, carriage rides, great music, and food. We ended the night with the lighting of our towering Christmas tree ! Both events officially marked the start of the Christmas season here in Cecil County.

TRI-STATE GIRLS WIN HOME OPENER 30-22 DAVIS & DANIELS LEAD THE LADY CRUSADERS TO VICTORY OVER CHRISTIANA VIKINGS
The Tri-State Christian Academy Lady Crusaders opened their season on Thursday night facing off against the Christiana High School Vikings. The Lady Crusaders are coming off a 14-4 Season last year where they ended their season with a loss to Tome in the Mid-At-
lantic Independent League Championship Game. The Lady Crusaders are determined to get back to this years championship game and another shot at the League title. The Vikings had a shortened season last year due to covid and finished the year 4-3.
The last time that the Tri-State Lady Crusaders played Christiana was in the 2017/2018 Season. In both meetings the Crusaders defeated the Vikings 3628 and 36-27. It’s been 4 years since those games. Skylar Klingler, the lone Senior on the Crusaders, was in 8th
grade at the time. So now we have an entirely new squad of Lady Crusaders who have carried on the streak and sent the Vikings home with a loss. Sophomore Tessa Davis and Junior Amelia Daniels led the team in scoring with 9pts each in the 30-22 win.
Junior Jules Harris went 4 for 4 on the free throw line and put 6 points on the board for the Crusaders. Next up, the Lady Crusaders travel to Bohemia Manor High School on Monday Dec 6 to play the Eagles. Game time is 5:30pm.

TRI-STATE CRUSaDERS DEFEAT CHRISTIANA VIKINGS VIKINGS SEEKING FIRST WIN SINCE THE 2019-2020 SEASON BUT CAN’T FIND IT AGAINST THE CRUSADERS The last meeting between these two teams was at the end of the 20182019 Season in February 2019. The game was held at Christiana High School and the Vikings came away the victor with the score being 79-45. Since that game the Vikings have been on a struggling team with a 3-16 record in 2019/2020 and going 0-10 last season. The Vikings hoped
to turn things around with a season opener against Tri-State but an aggressive Tri-State team would quicky show the Vikings this isn’t 2019. Led by Kyle Rogers and Jonte Jenson who each had 18 points in the game the Crusaders cruised to a 69-45 victory over the Vikings to give the school their 12 consecutive loss. Jenson led the team in free throws
making nine of his twelve attempts. The Crusaders start the season with a win and momentum as they head to Chesapeake City this week to play the Bohemia Manor Eagles who did not have a season last year due to Covid. Game time on Monday Dec 6 is 7:00pm following the Lady Crusaders game vs. Bo Manor.
