The Perryville Panthers have made the State Semi Finals. Thie week they defested the Brunswick Railroaders 14-3 and Zach Ayershad a great game this week. Defensively, Zach had 8 tackles, a forced fumble, and an interception. He helped lead a defense that held Brunswick to 3 points in a playoff victory and forced 5 turnovers. From a special teams standpoint he had some crucial punts that pinned Brunswick on their side of the field most of the night and helped Perryville win the field position battle.
Faith McCullough and the Lady Dukes Lynch 18U brought the firepower to Birmingham Alabama this weekend. The Lady Dukes Team played in the Thunderbolts 5 Star Showcase. Faith ended the Fall Season batting .444 and hit an impressive 4 homeruns this weekend with 10 RBIs. 130 Days until we get to see Faith pitching for the Rising Sun Tigers Softball Team. Let’s all hope that bat is still hot come April.

WE ARE THE ‘VILLE PHOTOS BY WAYNE LAMBERT
PANTHERS ADVANCE TO STATE SEMIFINALS
The Parents and Fans of the Perryville Panthers started this season back in August unhappy that the ‘Ville would only be getting 3 Home Games this season. The 9 game schedule had the team only doing 3 consecutive home games in September and on the road the rest of the year. However the Panthers would get the last laugh as they finished the season as the #1 Seed in the Region and that meant every Regional Playoff game would have to come through Perryville. Perryville shocked everyone in Havre de Grace when they stunned the Warriors 21-14 to once again win the Annual Susky Bowl. Now the Warriors are home on the couch while the Panthers are headed to a State Semi Finals game. A win there would send the team to Annapolis for the State Finals and a shot at
a State Championship. The Panthers currently sit at 7-3 on the season with eight of those games holding their opponent to 14 points of less. The Perryville Defense held the Brunswick Railroaders this week to only a field goal as they secured a spot in the top 4 for the State title. This week they face the Mountain Ridge Miners in Frostburg and
will have to travel to Garrett County for the game. Temps are expected to be a low of 29 degrees this week so bundle up if you are able to make the trek out to support the team. Coach Sandora has done an amazing job this season with a very talented cast of players on his roster. We all look forward to watching the Mountain Ridge game.

STORY SEASON ENDS TOO SOON
By Megan Steimer
The 1A East Regional Champion Bo Manor Eagles saw their season come to an end Tuesday evening, one game short of the State Championship match. The Mountain Ridge Miners defeated Bo Manor 25-19, 1825, 25-17, 25-22 to punch their ticket to the state championship game while the Eagles 2021 campaign concluded with an impressive 15-3 overall record including a nine-game win streak and eight shutout matches. It wasn’t an ideal start as the Miners jumped out to an 11-6 lead early in the first set before the Eagles took a timeout. The next play, middle Lily Argoe registered a block and then an offside kill to lift her team’s spirits and put Bo Manor back in
the game. Rylee Lenz used that energy as she rotated to the front row, recording a block and quick set kill to put the Eagles within three of a tied score. But Bo Manor could not shake the passing woes which had setter Margaret McGlothlin all over the court— leading to a set one loss. After playing a bit reserved, the Eagles came out swinging in game two. McGlothlin mixed things up a bit, distributing sets to her front row hitters including Lenz, Olivia McCraw and Camryn Meyers who all recorded kills from their respective positions at the net. Libero Julia Holmes maintained her consistency at the service line, throwing off a Miners serve receive as Bo Manor secured a comfortable 20-13 lead. Holmes again came in
clutch, making a point saving dig that ultimately led to a set two win and tying the match 1-1. A perfect pass by Holmes, impeccable set by McGlothlin, and powerful kill by Lenz opened set three. The Eagles appeared to continue where they left off, jumping out to a 7-2 lead. Meyers was hot at the net, recording two offside kills to throw off Mountain Ridge’s blockers. But the passing errors creeped back in for Bo Manor when the Miners outside hitters adjusted to the block, resulting in more successful attacks on the Eagles defense. After four lead changes, Mountain Ridge pulled away and captured a game three win to go ahead 2-1 in the match. With their season on the line, Bo Manor needed a
win to remain in the match and keep their hopes of a state championship alive. Senior Emily Sample gave the Eagles an encouraging start, serving an ace to begin set four. Outside hitter Simone Mattucci recorded a kill giving her team a 5-3 lead but the Miners offense continued to control the game. After leading early, Bo Manor found themselves trailing the remainder of the set even if it was just by a point. Down 20-22, McGlothlin hit a roll shot over the net to give her team a point and chance for a comeback, but it wasn’t meant to be. Mountain Ridge was able to hold on and capture a game four win, giving the Miners a 3-1 match victory to advance to the state championship game. In her final game as an Eagle, Margaret Mc-
Glothlin recorded 28 assists, 16 digs, and two aces as Rylee Lenz ended the match with a team high 15 kills, 16 digs and four blocks. Julia Holmes led the defense with 16 digs and three aces on the service line while Camryn Meyers and Olivia McCraw contributed four kills each to go with Lily Argoe and Simone Mattucci’s three kills each. Despite losing five seniors who all saw a significant amount of court time, look for coach Sabrina Larmer’s Bo Manor Eagles to make another deep playoff push next season as juniors like Lenz and Holmes are expected to return and make another big impact for their team.

EVAN BARBIN COMMITS TO #22 LIBERTY UNIVERSITY By Andrew Barbin
Elkton golfer and Red Lion Christian Academy senior Evan Barbin concluded his epic season on a high note, competing in The Elite Invitational at Longleaf Golf Club in Southern Pines, North Carolina. Following his strong showing in a field with some of the best junior golfers on the East Coast, Barbin officially committed to play for #22 Liberty University in the fall. Liberty University has been ranked in the top 30 for Division I golf each of the past four years and has made appearances in two straight NCAA National Championships. Liberty has been ranked inside the top 15 for Division I the last two years and looks to make another serious run at the National Championship in the spring. Evan Barbin will be the fourth Barbin brother to play collegiate golf, following the footsteps of brothers Andrew, Zachary, and Austin – all of whom grew up and reside in Cecil County. Andrew led Eastern University to their first MAC Conference Title and NCAA DIII National Championship in 2014, as well as to a top 20 national ranking in 2016. Andrew won three times at the collegiate level, and so far has a second place and eighth place finish at the local professional level. Zach, who had a historic season last year winning both the 120th BMW Philadelphia Amateur Championship and the 118th Patterson Cup, the first public course golfer to win either and only the 4th person in over a century to win both in the same year. Zach also led Liberty University to their past two NCAA National Championships and will
be concluding his collegiate career this spring. Austin Barbin had one of the most dominant junior careers in the history of Philadelphia, Maryland, and Delaware golf. Austin won 27 out of 38 starts on the US Kids Tour and played in six straight US Kids World Championships, finishing top 10 in his final three appearances. Austin also won 51 out of 109 Philadelphia Junior Tour events he played in, which is still the all-time record for both wins and win percentage. Austin won two Delaware High School State Championships as well as held the Maryland Junior Amateur, Delaware Junior Amateur, and Philadelphia Junior Amateur titles in the same year, as well as won the AJGA Imperial Headwear Classic by 11 strokes, shooting the all-time course record of 63 at DuPont Country Club. He also qualified for two US Junior Amateurs and a US Amateur, came in 9th at the Junior PGA Championship, and made it through to the final stage of US Open Qualifying in 2019. Austin was the top golfer for the University of Maryland until he transferred to join his brother Zach at Liberty this fall. Evan Barbin had an incredible season to this point as well, qualifying to play in the 73rd U.S. Junior Amateur at the Country Club of North Carolina as well as the nationally televised Notah Begay III Junior Golf Championship last November. The youngest Barbin brother also notched several victories this season, winning the Delaware Boy’s High School State Championship, the U.S. Junior Amateur Qualifier at Doylestown, the Philadelphia Open qualifier at 1912 Club, Philadelphia
Amateur Qualifier at Running Deer, the Philadelphia PGA Junior Qualifier, among both Philadelphia Junior Tour events he played in this year and the BJGT’s Baltimore Open. Evan also had top 10 finishes at the Maryland Junior Amateur, the Pennsylvania Junior Amateur, the Delaware Junior Amateur, the GAP’s Christman Cup, the U.S. Amateur qualifier at Be-
dens Brook, and the Notah Begay Regional at Seaview. He also came in 6th at the 115th Middle Atlantic Amateur Championship. Evan Barbin will be joining fellow Mid-Atlantic blue chip prospect Josh Ryan as part of Liberty’s loaded incoming freshman class. Zach and Austin Barbin will look to be first pair of brothers to win a NCAA Division
I National Championship on the same team, and will have two more opportunities in the years to come with Evan joining Austin in 2022-2023 and 2023-2024. And they have at least five more chances to become Cecil County’s first ever National Champion in golf.

JUNIORS EDGE OUT SENIORS 7-6 The Rising Sun Junior Class came ready to play in the Annual Rising Sun Powder Puff Football Game. The Juniors showed up with their own Cheerleaders and the Tigers Mascot on their sideline. Laynee Eyman did her best impression of Ray Lewis, although somewhat different than we remembered it, as she danced her way to midfield leading the Junior class onto the field. The cold temperatures and winds made for a tough game and the Senior turnout was smaller than they had hoped for with several of their Athletes unavail-

The Senior Class relied heavily on the quick speed of Emily Stewart to get down the field but the Juniors were able to stop any long runs for most of the game. Seniors would get on the board first but the failed kick for an extra point left them with only 6 points. Junior QB Laynee Eyman started passing the ball more in the second half

It would come down to the final play of the game with the Seniors having possession and 1 play to try to get into the endzone for the win. With 7 seconds on the clock the Junior Defense would not give up that easily and held the Seniors back for the win.
