ALÍA and Ciudad de la Luz sign a collaboration agreement

The return to filming activity in Ciudad de la Luz, the biggest film studios in Europe, is great news for the Spanish industry. Recently, this reopening has been reinforced thanks to the signing of the agreement between ALÍA and the Society Thematic Projects Of The Valencian Community (SPTCV), the managing entity of Ciudad de la Luz. A great boost for the studios and for Spanish service companies that decide to settle there.

W

ith the approval of the new fiscal stimulus policies that improve Spain's competitiveness in the global market to host large-scale AV projects, first-rate infrastructures are also necessary. In this sense, the reopening of Ciudad de la Luz in Alicante is a blessing for the sector. Within the framework of FITUR Screen, ALÍA and Ciudad de la Luz signed an agreement to help make Spain a preferred destination for international filming. Roberto Sacristán, president of ALÍA, and Antonio Rodes, managing director of SPTCV, signed this deal certifying the mutual support agreement. "The goals of the agreement between the Ciudad de la Luz and the Audiovisual Industry Alliance are focused on accelerating the process of reopening studios, attrac-

ting large productions to Alicante and generating a solid industrial ground in the region where ALIA partners who are interested in settling in the studios to provide service to the filmings have the best conditions from the studios”, declared the president of ALÍA. Likewise, the agreement will be optimal to maintain the independence of Ciudad de la Luz and prevent it from ending up being monopolized by some large media group. Rodes anticipated that a series of grants aimed at favoring filming in the Valencian Community will soon be announced: "We aspire to be the region of all, where all companies can come to do business." Ciudad de la Luz has, in fact, large projects already signed, but they still cannot be disclosed due to confidentiality clauses. ALÍA is the main association of technical and service companies in the audiovisual sector in Spain. It hosts companies that manufacture filming equipment, rental companies for sets, cameras, cranes, lighting, sound equipment, generartos, location companies, stunts, dailies management companies, service production companies, FX, VFX, hardware rental and support, post-production companies, sound post-production, color correction, quality control, deliveries, subtitling, dubbing, DCP and restoration. Ciudad de la Luz are the best film studios in Europe. They have an area of 120,000 square feet of soundstages, 120,550 m² of workshops and storage and 36.5 acres of back lot. All this in a climate with 280 days of sunshine year and an average annual temperature of 18 degrees Celsius. It has two soundstages of 25,184 square feet interconnected by elephant doors and with a clear height of 49 ft, as well as 4 soundstages of 17,405 square ft also interconnected and with a clear height of 12 meters. One of its great attractions is its huge back lot tank, measuring 328.08 x 262.47 ft with a depth of 3.94 ft, as well as an inner tank measuring 98.43 x 98.43 x 13.12 ft deep.
