UWE Bristol
Bath Spa University
City of Bristol College and UWE Bristol are working together to increase Bristol residents’ progression into higher education. Through this partnership, you can choose to study a course through the University but be based here at the College. We offer a variety of courses including education and health care.
We work in partnership with Bath Spa University to deliver the work-based Level 4 & 5 Foundation Degree in Early Years and Level 6 Childhood Studies top-up degree. These qualifications are a crucial part of a national drive to improve the career pathway options and qualifications for practitioners in the early years sector.
As a UWE Bristol student studying at City of Bristol College, you will benefit from both institutions’ strong links with industry and study a course which is designed to equip you for a successful career. Your course will be quality assured by the University, showing employers you have met their high academic standards. You will also have the opportunity to progress from your foundation degree to a full honours degree.
Considerable emphasis is placed on developing innovative and flexible methods of teaching and assessment, and students find the academic environment supportive and accessible. The University also has strong partnerships with early childhood settings, giving students access to high-quality industry insight and employment opportunities.
Although based at the College, you will be part of the UWE Bristol student community. You will have access to all UWE Bristol facilities, including their large 24/7 library at Frenchay Campus, extensive online library resources, social and learning spaces and Centre for Sport.

To complement our long-standing partnership, City of Bristol College and UWE Bristol are currently discussing exciting plans to develop a University Centre at South Bristol Skills Academy. The partnership between our two institutions will extend Bristol’s higher education footprint to the south of the city and enable access to degree-level study options which align with the city region’s skills and workforce demands.
