Todd Martin Youth Leadership (TMYL), a National Junior Tennis and Learning Program (NTJL) chapter and affiliate of the USTA provides youth tennis programming in cooperation with the City of Lansing. All coaches for the programs are TMYL staff.

These programs will utilize modified tennis balls, smaller racquets, and smaller court dimensions to provide a successful learning experience and lots of fun for players 6-8 years old. Ball, racquet and court transitions are based on a natural progression in technique, skill, athleticism, and age. Program will take place outside (weather-permitting). No class on 11/24. YARD WASTE COLLECTION

The City of Lansing is participating in the “Feet on the Street” program, which is why you may have noticed people walking in front of recycling trucks, looking in recycling carts, and leaving behind informational tags. Information that explains the program and what materials can go in bins has been mailed to households who have curbside recycling. This program will help to identify problems at the source, educate our community, and hopefully, increase participation by lessening confusion and contamination. THE STREET”

This series of fun classes uses the Scratch Junior platform, developed by the same MIT team that built the Scratch. While building interactive stories and games, your child will be introduced to the basics of coding concepts, problem-solving, and most importantly, creativity! The series will go from simple projects with different characters working independently to connecting characters with complex actions. Your child will also get to apply their artistic skills to create their own characters, tell stories and share their math and science knowledge. Must have an iPad or Android Tablet. Level: Beginner.

Does your child enjoy playing Minecraft? Minecraft: Education Edition is built on top of the regular Minecraft game and includes additional features to teach kids coding and other STEM skills. It promotes creativity, collaboration and problem-solving in an immersive environment, where the only limit is imagination. We start by introducing kids to the very basic concepts of stacking commands together to make computers accomplish tasks - the fundamentals of coding. Kids will control agents to solve puzzles while interacting with different in-game characters. We will then move on to learn core coding concepts such as loop, operations, conditional, events, function, variables, and more. As students get more comfortable with these coding skills, they will also start building more complex structures as well as mini games through coding. Level: Intermediate. For students who are new to coding, we recommend taking Scratch Ninja 1 & 2 first before this class.
