three months earlier than originally planned. This opening marks the final milestone in a project that improved six area bridges. The three-year, $40 million I-80 Six Bridges Project included $38 million in funding from Senate Bill (SB) 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017. “The completion of this SB 1 project improves the road for over 7,500 trucks that use this stretch of the I-80 corridor in Vallejo every

“Through SB 1, we continue to make transportation improvements across the Bay Area that will produce safe, efficient mobility for all users, including the timely movement of goods along the I-80 freight corridor that connects to the region’s air and seaports, helping businesses get their products from point A to B more efficiently.”

To meet federal standards, the I-80 Six Bridges Project raised the vertical clearance to 16 feet, 6 inches of the first six bridges east of the Carquinez Bridge: Magazine Street, Benicia Road, Georgia Street, Springs Road, Tennessee Street, and Redwood Street. “Those who so greatly use this critical overpass are elated to once again have the convenience and time-saving road that is also delightful to travel on with its new and smooth surface,” Vallejo Mayor Robert McConnell said. “The residents of Vallejo collectively say, ‘Thank you’ to all in the state who made this a reality.”

Some minor construction work remains to be done including landscaping, irrigation, and lane striping. SB 1 provides $5 billion in transportation in annual funding shared equally between the state and local agencies. Road projects progress through construction phases more quickly based on the availability of SB 1 Forfunds.more information about transportation projects funded by SB 1, visit RebuildingCA. ca.gov, and for more information on the project itself, visit the I-80 Six Bridges Project Vallejo.
