Tackling PPE waste during Covid-19

Insect Farming- Harnessing Natures Recycling Agents

Boosting Wildlife Conservation

The issue of proper disposal of the PPE’s used in the containment of the deadly coronavirus has raised a serious environmental concern as the waste could pose a health hazard crisis. But Catherine Wanjoya, an entrepreneur, has come up with a remedy by redesigning a portable incinerator that can safely dispose-off used PPE’s in health centers.

Ecodudu , a Kenyan startup, is farming insects and using them to recycle organic waste. They have devised a way to deal with the waste that would otherwise end up on landfills. Through this project, the startup has provided protein rich animal feed and organic fertilizer all from the insects which in turn improves the quality of soil used for agriculture.

The Nairobi National park has been allocated more land to offer an extended wildlife corridor.
