Tel: 673 196 455 On Thursday February 11th the contract for the final work for the new Market zone and for trade fairs and events was formalised. The area is located in the Antonio Soria Park beside the Waterpark and Sport City and aims to be the final and definitive location of the weekly Friday market, removing the entity from the centre of the city and releasing the urban pressure that the market puts on the town centre, its residents and emergency services. Technicians have performed the final checks to complete the usual protocol for the opening of the zone. First there has been an acceptance of the works by the Chief of the Housing and Rehabilitation of the Ministry, with the transfer of this are to the City Council, signed by Mayor José Manuel Dolon. The document includes, among other things, a guarantee on the

"This is a process that has already began and we have to finish. The market area officials and professionals define the location of the group of traders

who use the facilities," said Dolón. He added: “this move can be seen as a historic moment depending on whether there is a demand from many sectors, residents of Torrevieja, who are asking for a location outside the town centre. Residents, neighbours, owners of garages, bars and shops who have been demanding these new facilities. "The other important point is to fundamentally please the end users of the market; the consumers who do their weekly shopping. All the groups involved have much to say,” but he assured everyone that he has also been looking at the recruitment of new regular transport system that must enable anyone that wishes to visit the market to do so without limitations or restrictions, as this is one of the pillars of trade for the city.” He noted: “Once all actions have been completed, we will proceed with the opening of these facilities whose works have cost more than five million euros and if we add the land value far exceed ten million euros.”

Sticky Vicky and Demaria Leyton retire

Whether or not you have ever seen her show, the very mention of Benidorm's Sticky Vicky tends to conjure up images of ping pong balls and other inanimate objects being propelled into the audience. This particular talent of the one and only Sticky Vicky has been copied by many other artists but it is she that is best known for her special talents that were part of her X-Rated Magic Show. Last week Vicky posted her news on Facebook and said: “I want to give this news to all. I am 72 years old and the people who have visited me over the past 35 years must know that it was time for stop. I had surgery of the hip and now that I've recovered I want to enjoy my family and my life. These years, they have been wonderful, and thanks to my work I have been able to help many people (who have)

come to me, but the time has come for me to change my life and enjoy, as anyone, who has worked all her life. Thank you everyone. God bless.” Born on 15th April 1943, as Victoria Maria Aragues in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Vicky started working on stage at the age of 11, working in dance and cabaret. For the last 35 years she has been performing her risqué show that she calls 'adult magic' and although she had intended to return to the stage after her successful hip operation, recently she was diagnosed with cancer and although her results have been very positive for a full recovery, both she and her only daughter, Demaria, who performed with her, have decided that the time to close this door on this chapter of their lives has come to an end and both of them intend to pursue other

Torrevieja's mayor, José Manuel Dolon, and the Councillor for NGO's, Carmen Morate, visited Reach Out Charity last week to find out more about the organisation and to congratulate them for their "great social work and humanitarian developing with homeless in Torrevieja and families experiencing need." Mayor Dolon took their bank account details with the intension to deposit 1.370.25€ of his last salary directly to them and Morate presented them with 550€ from the collection at the International carol concert held in December in the Plaza de la Constitution. Both amounts were gratefully received by the board's president Elizabeth Thompson, who explained to them the way the NGO works and what are the most important needs that they have to carry out to be able to work more efficiently. One of the most important points which they referred to is the need to recognize that there are many homeless people in Torrevieja, people who for various circumstances of life need a place in which to take a shower, eat breakfast and lunch, change clothes and especially "feel well cared for and useful to others." Mayor Dolon agreed with Thompson in that he considers it important that: "the only way to deal with the problems is to see them head on. It makes no sense to hide and pretend they do not exist," said Dolon. Reach out noted that they help some 103 homeless people on a daily basis. They are serving an average of 40 people at breakfast and lunch. The social dining that they have available is open Monday to Saturday, and they usually deliver food to these people so that they can also make a meal on Sunday along with having toiletries and

necessities. The Charity is located on the edge of the Friday Market, close to the Cuba School district, where the NGO has a charity shop, which can target those who wish to donate or buy used clothing or furniture. The facility also serves as a pantry for products that they receive for their Food Bank, plus a couple of showers, the offices of the association and a small meeting and eating area that can be accessed with a point system for families in need. The mayor promised to deal with the issue of building a ramp to help with the loading and unloading of goods and furniture in the vicinity of the association, that is a major source of revenue to the NGO. Reach Out also serves about 30 families, working in coordination with other organizations in the city and its members perform advisory work and support to social services when necessary. Thompson thanked Mayor

Beethoven in Concert

On Saturday February 20th at 7.00pm, Torrevieja's Symphony Orchestra returned to the International Auditorium of Torrevieja for their second concert of the 2016 season and was greeted to yet another, sold out, full house. Following on from their two full houses that marked their successful New Year's concert, this time around their concert was dedicated to one of the most famous orchestral composers, Ludwig Van Beethoven. The Concert featured Piano Concerto No 5, "Emperor"

and his famous symphony No 7. The concert also featured torrevejense soloist Jorge Carrasco, an international renowned pianist, who is currently performing with the London Contemporary Dance School and Central School of Ballet. Due to his ever increasing deafness, Beethoven started to change from being a very sociable person to somewhat of a recluse. His Piano Concerto No. 5 "Emperor", is dedicated to Cardinal Rodolfo of Austria, and was the last concerto he wrote, probably because his inability to hear prevented him from being able to enjoy hearing the work in its entirety himself. He worked on its development between 1809 and 1811 with it being premiered in Leipzig on November 28 of that year and in Vienna a year later. The Seventh Symphony was written mostly in 1811, while Beethoven visited the spa in the Czech town, famous for its healing properties, and completed in 1812 and is thus dedicated to Moritz von Fries, the banker who supported him financially. It was first performed

Dolon and Councillor Morate for visiting them and explained their plans for the need for greater visibility to help them increase the number of volunteers, both domestic and foreign, willing to work unselfishly with others. The Reach Out Mission statement: We try to help anyone in need, irrespective of race, creed or status, by providing basic food, clothes, blankets/linen, household items and furniture. By giving support in every way we can to someone in need. We are an entirely voluntary organisation and 100% of all your donations will benefit the homeless and poor. We sell anything that is donated to us to raise money to feed the families registered with us and the homeless. Furniture, white goods and other electrical items are given to registered families as needed and available. Our shops have a great variety of clothes and bricabrac at very reasonable prices. We have recently extended the shop and now have a lot more space so we have a lot more to sell. If you are looking for furniture, electrical or household items, come and see us, or contact us, we might just have what you need. We have two shops: Calle Bella Antonia 1, Local 4, open on Mondays – Fridays from 10:00am until 2:00pm includes quality pre-owned furniture at very reasonable prices and at Calle Doña Sinforosa 8, open Monday, to Thursday 10:00am until 2.00pm. Contact their Helpers for more information: John 688 238 878 or Davy 698 499 226: Facebook.com/reachouttorrevieja or www.reachouttorrevieja.com. in Vienna on December 8th, 1813. The orchestra was directed Beethoven himself and was composed of the most illustrious and famous musicians of the time. Although Beethoven did not hear the moments when the orchestra played piano, and that caused a small problem of interpretation, the piece was very well received by most critics. Last week's performance was considered by many of the almost 1,500 in attendance as the best that Torrevieja's Symphony Orchestra has performed. With almost 60 musicians on stage, if you have never seen the Orchestra perform, don't miss out on their next performance, which will be announced shortly.

Drones add to lifesaving A new lifesaving drone will be added to facilities available to Torrevieja lifeguards starting this June. SalvaDRON is a new service that the city of Torrevieja proposes to add to its citizen’s awareness program in the field of Civil Protection, in order to improve the safety of users of beaches and coastal bathing areas. "Because of its highly innovative system of specialized technical services, the SalvaDRON is a pilot project" in this area, explained by the Councillor for Beaches, Civil Protection and Innovation, Information Society and New Technologies, Javier Manzanares. The project will go to tender for the best offer received through this open call to the Department of Beaches, Security and Emergency of the Town Hall and will be open for submissions until February 17th. SalvaDRÓN will take place between June and September this year and last for three months. Manzanares explained that "our idea is that these devices can be handled by the civil protection volunteers once they have completed the relevant training." The councillor explained that this device is a “pioneer in our country, as we have conceived it is essentially we have a system of two remotely piloted aircraft -drones- carrying lifesaving appliances - "flopys" - which are released for swimmers in life-threatening situation and associated equipment by remote control, communications, image display and possibly other signalling systems such as lighting, PA system to communicate with people at risk, boats and navigation devices that are within the area reserved for swimmers and general users of beaches and swimming areas. " Manzanares has been identified as one of the objectives that the use of drones in safety coastal bathing areas

reported improvements Civil Protection, including early detection of situations involving a risk to the safety of people in the waters off the beaches and coastal bathing areas and as rapid relief to people in lifethreatening situation by launching these life-saving devices." The concept of the Drone vs. Lifeguard Race has been around since 2009 and is not dissimilar to the idea put forward by Amazon.com in their idea to be able to deliver parcels by drones. So who will win in a race to get to a distressed swimmer: a drone or a human lifeguard? In the USA and Australia more beaches are testing drones to see how quickly they can deliver life jackets to swimmers who are in trouble. In many instances, especially around the rocky coastline of Torrevieja, and with the wicket rip tide currents around La Mata, such a drone system could be very beneficial as around the rocky coves, it's almost impossible to get close to a

swimmer in trouble for fear of the rescue craft being dashed on the rocks. But a floating device dropped to a swimmer could enable them to float further along the coast into a safer area to pick them up. And while most of us immediately think of drones as an airborne unit, if one thinks outside the box, it's also possible to deliver lifesaving devices using more conventional radio controlled devices, which can travel over the water rather than being grounded due to high winds, which is another major factor to be taken into consideration. Without having to reinvent the wheel, such an item like EMILY (http://emilyrobot.com/) maybe all that's required. This 4-ft long remote controlled buoy can cruise through rip-currents and swift water at speeds up to 22 mph to reach distressed swimmers faster than human lifeguards. In the maritime environment, EMILY is a valuable device that's already used for safety on cruise ships, commercial shipping, oil rig operations, and in pier or dock locations. Aside from getting to those in need faster, sending EMILY to the rescue means that no more people are put in danger – a common problem for rescuers dealing with panicking swimmers. The first EMILY was built in September 2009, for scientific use by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Since this March, successive versions have been tried out by lifeguards at numerous Southern California beaches. EMILY currently retails for $3,500 depending on the version ordered. These devices have been around since 2009, so the technology is not a new idea in coming to Torrevieja however, the City of Salt is blazing the way in being the first in Spain to offer such a valuable service.

Surge in expats applying to register to vote as EU Referendum date is set

The announcement of the date for the Referendum on the UK’s membership of the European Union has triggered a surge in the numbers of British expats wanting to register to vote. Latest figures show thousands of British nationals who live overseas are now going to www.gov.uk/register-tovote in order to be able to have their say on 23 June. The average daily rate of online registrations by Britons abroad has quadrupled from an average of just over 600 per day before the announcement of the referendum date last weekend, to more than 2600 per day since then. The Electoral Commission has launched a global campaign to encourage an estimated five million Britons living overseas to check their eligibility to vote ahead of the referendum on EU membership. The Foreign Office is supporting the campaign overseas, including in Spain. The British Ambassador Simon Manley, visiting Malaga on Tuesday (23 February), said: “Whether you think the UK should remain in or leave the EU, the 23rd of June will be your chance to have your say. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for the British people to decide. “You might be asking yourself, why bother to vote? Although you may now live in Spain, most expats still have strong ties with the UK – financial, family, friends. You may also decide to return one day. So you very probably do have a stake in the outcome and how it may affect your life. I strongly encourage you to register to vote – just go online and follow the simple process.” If you have been on the UK electoral roll within the last 15 years, you are eligible to vote. Former residents of England, Scotland and Wales can quickly register at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. If you last lived in Northern Ireland then you need to download an overseas voter application form from the Electoral Office for Northern Ireland, at www.eoni.org.uk. How you can register to vote ahead of

the EU Referendum 1. A referendum on the UK’s membership of the European Union will be held on 23 June. 2. If you were on the electoral roll in the UK within the last 15 years, then you can register as an overseas voter and have your say. #yourvotematters. 3. If you last lived in England, Scotland or Wales, go to www.gov.uk/register-tovote and fill in your data. All you need is your National Insurance number, passport details and date of birth. (Even if you don’t have an NI number, you can still register). 4. Choose how you want to vote – by post, proxy, or even in person if you will be in Britain on polling day. If you choose to vote by post, ballot forms will be despatched about one month ahead, giving you time to receive, complete and return your vote. 5. If you were last registered to vote in Northern Ireland, download an overseas voter application form from the Electoral Office for Northern Ireland, at www.eoni.org.uk. You can choose to vote by proxy or in person, but not by post. 6. Do register now, don’t wait until the last minute and miss the deadline. Thousands of expatriates are already doing signing up. If you wait, you may miss your chance to have your say. 7. Just as in the UK, you need to register annually. So if you registered as an overseas voter for last year’s General Election, you still need to renew ahead of the EU referendum. 8. Out of 283,000 Britons officially resident in Spain, just 11,000 were registered to vote in last year’s UK General Election. Many British expats could miss out on their say in the EU referendum, so tell your friends to register too. 9. Use Facebook and Twitter to pass the message on that #yourvotematters. 10. Go to www.gov.uk/register-tovote - make sure you can have your say

British Consulates work to increase awareness of dementia British Consulates in Alicante and Malaga are working with expat support organisations including the Royal British Legion, Age Concern España, HELP and Age Care to improve services for people affected by dementia. Last week the consulates hosted learning events in Alicante, Murcia and Malaga, led by UK dementia experts Sue Brewin and Su Burns. The meetings sought to help support groups understand the different types of dementia and ways to overcome barriers to communication with people affected by the disorder. According to research from the UK-based charity

Alzheimer’s Society, the number of people diagnosed with dementia in Western Europe will double by 2050, with one in three people likely to be affected. This means that organisations that help British Nationals will face more cases and need expertise. Southern and eastern Spain are home to large numbers of British residents, many of whom are elderly and some with substantial care needs, but who may have little or no resources or family to support them. To qualify for social services such as home help, British nationals must have previously registered with the Spanish authorities. Charmaine Arbouin, British Consul for Southern Spain and the Canary Islands, says: “Organisations such as Cruz Roja Española and Age Concern can be a lifeline for people affected by dementia. However, they cannot meet all your needs. I strongly urge expats to register on the padron and for healthcare now, before health issues arise. You can then access support from the Spanish system via the local health centre and town hall social

services when you need it. “If you fail to register then you are unlikely to get social services help later.” Dementia covers several types of brain disorder, including Alzheimer’s disease, the most common form. There is no cure and the disorders are usually progressive. Common symptoms include memory loss, confusion, speech difficulties and problems with understanding. Corruption scandals could foil Spanish PM Rajoy's bid to retain power When Jose Luis Penas recorded fellow councillors allegedly taking bribes from businessmen a decade ago, it marked the start of a series of corruption scandals that have engulfed Spain's ruling party and could thwart its chances of retaining power. The secret recordings in Madrid's Majadahonda municipality controlled by the People's Party (PP) culminated in a High Court investigation into allegations the party's top brass had a slush fund bankrolled by friendly businesses. Four senior former PP politicians are among 40 suspects awaiting trial. Since the beginning of the so-called Gurtel investigation in 2007, there have been a string of other graft inquiries into the PP, with the latest ones implicating the party's leadership in Madrid and Valencia this month. Penas said he knew Gurtel investigators' code name for the case would be big when he made the audio recordings, but had never imagined it might reach the upper echelons of the conservative party. "I didn't know how deep the corruption would go," Penas, who left the party after the scandal erupted, told Reuters in an interview in the community centre he now runs. "From Gurtel came everything."

The PP denies any senior party officials were involved in any cases of alleged corruption, including Gurtel. It says only a tiny number of its politicians are corrupt, and that it is tackling the problem. But the political cost has nevertheless been high for the party and its leader, Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy. Public anger at the PP was a factor in its failure to win a parliamentary majority in a December election. Since then, its attempts to form a governing coalition have floundered, snubbed by rivals who say they will not work with a party tainted by corruption scandals. Should no other party succeed in

forming a coalition, as most political analysts expect, another election will be held this year. While the PP is still expected to win the most votes, opinion polls suggest it will again fail to gain a majority. According to a poll last week in rightwing newspaper El Mundo, the centreright party would actually lose votes and parliamentary seats, with many of those surveyed blaming corruption and Rajoy's inability to cobble together a coalition. Acknowledging the damage, PP lawmaker Andrea Levy said earlier this month the corruption allegations "shamed and embarrassed" the party's members and voters. "The people that have done these things should neither represent the PP nor should they be politicians," said the 31-year-old, one of the party's newest and youngest faces. "They should be expelled from politics," she told a Spanish radio station. MADRID CHIEF QUITS Fernando Jimenez, a political scientist at the University of Murcia and contributor to an annual EU anticorruption report, said worse could be yet to come for the party. "Most likely new cases of corruption will continue to erupt," he said. "I don't

think the PP's vote has bottomed out, it could fall quite a lot more." He said the party was losing support due to perceptions among voters that it was shielding those implicated in scandals, something denied by the party's leadership. "The PP is a family and when one member suffers the party shelters and hides them," he said. "But this strategy was born in an era when corruption was not a great concern for people." Times have changed. Corruption is now Spaniards' second biggest worry behind unemployment. When Rajoy assumed office in December 2011, just 6 percent of people said corruption was a major concern, in a survey by official pollster the Sociological Research Centre (CIS). Over the last year the figure has reached as high as 60 percent. Transparency International said in its annual report in January that Spain had suffered one of the sharpest declines in public perceptions of corruption in the world, having slipped from 30th on its index in 2012 to 36th. The 40 suspects awaiting trial over the Gurtel case include three former PP treasurers and a former health minister, as well as local party officials and businessmen. All the suspects, and the party, have denied wrongdoing. Earlier this month the PP's Madrid head Esperanza Aguirre resigned after police raided her headquarters and investigated some of her employees, including senior staff, for bribery and money laundering in an unrelated case. Aguirre and the party denied any wrongdoing, but she said she quit as a "gesture" of political responsibility. Almost simultaneously a similar scandal erupted at the party's Valencia offices, with police launching an investigation into alleged money laundering there, and saying senior officials could be involved. The PP denied any wrongdoing.

Britain protests after ‘dangerous incursion’ by Spanish warship Britain has protested to Spain after a Spanish warship “manoeuvred dangerously” during an incursion into British Gibraltar territorial waters, risking collision with a Royal Navy patrol boat. The Spanish corvette Infanta Elena also sailed close to Gibraltar on Wednesday with weapons uncovered, in a move that the Foreign and Commonwealth Office said could be seen as “provocative”. “We have today protested this incursion directly to the Spanish authorities – on both diplomatic and military channels,” a spokesman for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office said. “We have made clear that the

dangerous behaviour was unacceptable and that the weapons being uncovered could be perceived as provocative. We have asked for an explanation.” According to the British Government, the actions of the Infanta Elena constituted a breach of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. The UK has protested to the Spanish Government on that basis. “Although incursions by Spanish State vessels are a violation of sovereignty, they are not a threat to it and do not weaken or undermine the international legal basis for UK sovereignty over British Gibraltar Territorial Waters,” the FCO spokesman added.

Urdangarin admits his real-estate company had ghost employees Iñaki Urdangarin testified on Friday that he never charged anyone commissions while he was operating his non-profit Nóos Institute. As he begin giving evidence in his embezzlement and fraud trial, Urdangarin, who is accused of allegedly diverting €6.2 million that he and his business partner earned in public contracts to private businesses, also admitted that the Aizoon real-estate company he owned with his wife, the Infanta Cristina de Borbón, had ghost employees. Earlier this month, Marco Tejeiro, a former accountant at Nóos had told the court that Urdangarin listed the names of family and domestic workers on the Aizoon payroll for tax purposes. Tejeiro was charged in the case, but is cooperating with the prosecution. Anti-corruption prosecutor Pedro Horrach, who used his first remarks to try to exonerate the infanta, began his questioning of King Felipe’s brother-in-law by asking him about a series of contracts that the Nóos Institute was granted by the Balearic Islands regional government. “I have never charged anyone any commissions,” he said in a low voice. Horrach had been against putting the infanta on the stand at the Palma de Mallorca trial. The obscure rightwing civic group Mano Limpias has filed a private accusation against Cristina.

Urdangarin faces more than 19 years in prison if convicted of all the charges he is facing, which include money laundering and influence peddling. Cristina de Borbón is on trial alongside him for alleged tax fraud stemming from Aizoon. Nóos was set up by Urdangarin and his former business partner Diego Torres to organize sporting and tourism events for the regional governments in the Balearic Islands and Valencia. The entity won millions in public contracts, but prosecutors believe that the two diverted the money to their private businesses through a complicated false billing system. The former Spanish Olympic handball team player

also told the prosecutor that a signature that appears in an Aizoon budget was not his When prosecutor Pedro Horrach asked the witness about the false billing, Urdangarin said he did not know anything about the system. Seeking to distance himself from the day-to-day running of the institute and its network of companies, the majority of Urdangarin’s answers consisted of “I suppose so,” “I don’t know,” and “I can’t recall.” The former Spanish Olympic handball team player also told Horrach that a signature that appears in an Aizoon budget was not his. Prosecutors believe Aizoon was one of the private companies where some of the money was diverted. When asked about Torres’ wife, Ana María Tejeiro, who is also standing trial, Urdangarin testified that she never worked at the Nóos Institute. “She had no fixed role,” said Urdangarin. “Then, what did she do?” asked Horrach. “Well, I don’t know. I guess she did personal duties,” the witness responded. During his own lengthy testimony, which took 25 hours over the course of four days, Torres had also said that Princess Cristina played no active role at the Nóos Institute. Cristina is expected to testify later next month. The trial will resume on Wednesday.

Tree planting in Los Montesinos Guardia Civil raid illegal By Andrew Atkinson Students in Los Montesinos, Alicante, have been busy planting trees in the Vega Baja Municipitality. The work has been carried out by the students of the Workshop of Employment the Marquise - co-ordinated by the Department of Public Services (parks and gardens) of the Town Hall. Planting has been undertaken to raise the awareness of trees, the importance of care, and respect for the environment. Elsewhere, lands in the special protection area of Sierra Escalona have been ploughed in the grounds of The Maseras - covering over 6,000 square metres. Following the alleged illegal action the neighbourhood association San Miguel Archangel has denounced the ploughing on the farmland. The land, which had pine trees on the site, is located in the Special Protection Area of Sierra Escalona and is reportedly within the area of Porbn - the future Natural Park of the Sierra Escalona. The incident concerns the law 3/1993, dated December 9th, from Valencia, forestry Generalitat of Valencia; and the Law 5/2014 of 25 July, of the Generalitat, of Planning, Urbanism and

Landscape of Valencia. Complaints have previously been made about the destruction operations within the Vega Beja. Back in Los Montesinos, Mayor Jose Manuel Butron has been looking in on students on active job search programme. The Los Montesinos Council's active job search program has been organised in conjunction with the Department of Tourism and Promotion, and finished on February 25th. Students learnt new techniques and tips to improve their employability. The Mayor of Los Montesinos Jose Manuel Butron was in attendance to give best wishes to those that attended the course in the Alicante, Vega Baja town during February. The Department of Youth also launched a Newsletter for the young ?people of Los Montesinos, with information ranging from Scholarships, languages, courses and travel. The Generalitat Valenciana have announced the creation of the Becassalario aid of up to 600 euros per month for University students, without resources. One thousand scholarships are available for students in Spanish Universities, who want to study for a semester at a University in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico and Uruguay. Registration closes on May 31st. People in Los Montesinos also took advantage in February of a new discount rail card, for people aged between 14-26 years old. A Bilingual Summer programme 'Action x Change 2016' will take place from July 115, 2016 in Toledo. Reservation seats are available until April 1st.

cockfighting gang

By Andrew Atkinson The Guardia Civil arrested 25 people following an illegal cockfighting ring on a farm in Los Montesinos, Alicante, in what has been dubbed the 'Rock-Pit' Operation. The Guardia Civil found 26 cockerels, some fighting in a pit, where bets had been placed at the illegal gathering. 5,500â‚Ź in cash was confiscated at the scene. It is understood the Guardia Civil Guard had been monitoring the illegal cockfighting gang for months, following a tip-off. Following surveillance within Los Montesinos and an investigation into the illegal cockfighting ring, operation 'Rock Pit' was set up. Fighting cocks, breeding hens and rooster stallions were involved in the illegal ring. Some were packed into cages. Some of the injured animals, valued at thousands of euros, were taken to a vet. During the raid on the farm, members of the ring attempted to escape and a chase ensued: jumping over fences and onto a road, and through lemon orchards, prior to being intercepted and detained. Those arrested were all of Spanish nationality, who were detained and have been charged with the alleged commission of a crime of mistreatment. They will appear in the Court Number Three, in Torrevieja.

Back Stage with DJ WEETO Daniel DJ Weeto is available to be booked via the artistsdirect-spain.com website. You can call him direct on 662 443 877. Daniel has a huge karaoke with songs both in Spanish and English. He can be booked for private parties as well as in bars and restaurants as a DJ or with Karaoke. Who are you and what do you do? My name is Daniel Wheatley and I am a DJ and a Karaoke host. I have been doing disco´s and karaoke for over 18 years and been in Spain for 9 years now, doing karaoke in both English and Spanish bars. How did you start in the business? It was all down to my Nan really. We were at a family birthday party she asked the DJ if I could help him out that night and he asked me to take over for an hour or so. It was after that when he asked me to work with him then one day he had a booking that he could not do so he asked me so that was my first real disco on my own.

What would you be doing if you were not an entertainer? I would definitely be a car mechanic. I trained as a car mechanic for 3 years when I was 16 year old. As an entertainer who has been your biggest influence? My biggest influence was really my Nan who pushed me into becoming a DJ in the first place. Do you ever get nervous or have you suffered stage fright? Yes I do - all the time when I first get to the place but

after I setup and start playing I am fine. What was your best moment? It was last August when I was doing sound and lighting for the guy who was the 45th member of the Drifters (he performed with them the same time as Ben E King), it was outside and we had over 300 people there and the singer said that my gear was one of the best he has used. What has been your worst moment? That was when I was doing sound for a fiesta and the sound system packed up. Worst of all - the duo who was on that night was on the show the X Factor about 4 years ago so were quite well known. What’s the best piece of advice you have received or would give someone starting out in the business? My best advice would be to always do your homework in the business and save up to buy the best gear and therefore not have to buy twice. Any little anecdotes or interesting stories? There is one time when I was DJ at a wedding and the bride went in to labour after the first dance and the party stopped for an hour then restarted again.

After Hours at THE WATERING HOLE Tell us about yourselves My name is Sharron and I run The Watering Hole jointly with my friend and business partner Jimmy. We have been here for just over 3 months now. I have lived in Spain for the past 7 years and Jimmy for 2 years. What made you open a bar? Both of us have worked in the bar/restaurant trade since we left school, separately as we didn’t meet until Jimmy came over here. Like many people we wanted to work for ourselves and had talked about the possibility of going into business together some time ago. I found out that The Watering Hole was available, decided I wanted to go for it and invited Jimmy to come on board. Where did the inspiration for the name come from? It had previously been called The

Watering Hole, people were used to that name and we liked it anyway. Who does the cooking? And how would you describe your style? Unfortunately at this time we have no kitchen facilities so cannot do meals, much to Jimmy’s dismay as he is a qualified chef. It is something we hope to do in the future. At the moment we do cold snacks, sandwiches and the like. We also do afternoon teas which are proving very popular. What’s your favourite dish on the menu? The afternoon teas of course. I have to say that we

have such a lovely selection of cakes that this would probably be my favourite even if we did do a full menu. I heard a rumour that one afternoon when I wasn’t here and some ladies were enjoying their tea and cakes that two people from whatsoncostablanca.com came in for a coffee and were so enamoured with the cakes that they cheekily tried to procure a couple. Apparently the ladies stood firm and saw them off empty-handed! Favourite day of the week? Both of us particularly like Thursdays and Fridays as they are our entertainment days. Thursday afternoons we do card bingo which is always well attended then on Friday nights we have karaoke with our resident hosts Cathy and Malc. Always great fun. We pride ourselves on

being a friendly bar. We have had quite a few ladies say to us that they feel comfortable coming here for a drink on their own which, as a woman, I know is unfortunately not the case everywhere. Any interesting tales? We are normally busy but one cold dark weekday night recently there was just me and one male regular customer in the bar for ages. Eventually I said: “Enough of this, let’s have a party, just the two of us.” We turned the music up loud and danced wildly on the terrace. It was just for fun but before we knew it we had a bar full of people. Funny thing is on that evening it wasn’t just us empty there didn’t appear to be anybody about at all…and then suddenly there they all were. You can contact Sharron and Jim at the Watering Hole and book your Afternoon teas on 611 275 874

Four Tricks to Help You Get a Six Pack Fast When you're going after the goal to get a six pack fast, there's no doubt that you're willing to try to do whatever you can to further your progress along. When it comes to reaching this goal, it's all the small things that can really make a difference over time so paying attention to them and doing whatever you can to make the most of your training and diet will be vital. Here are four quick tricks that you can use to help get six pack abs fast. Boost The Protein In Your Diet The first thing you should do to help increase your chances of getting six pack abs is boost the protein intake in your diet. This will help speed your metabolic rate and keep you feeling fuller longer. Protein is the most essential macronutrient on a six pack abs diet so make sure you're getting at least one gram per pound of body weight. More may even be beneficial - up to 1.5 grams per

pound. Add Supersets To Your Lifting Workouts Next, also consider adding supersets to your weight lifting workouts. These will really help to boost your overall metabolic rate and allow you to burn calories at a faster rate. Just watch that you are allowing enough recovery time between supersets so that you're still able to lift heavy. You want the rest period between the two exercises to be very short but then allow up to two minutes after each superset before starting the next. Be Sure To Take One Day Off A Week While it may seem counterproductive, it's also really important that you are making an effort to take at least one day off your workout each week. When you're doing too much exercise this can also cause big problems with the body, so give it the rest it needs. This will allow it to burn fat faster during the week so you can get six pack abs fast. Load Up On Vegetables Finally the last thing you can do to help get six pack abs fast is to make sure you're eating as many vegetables as possible on your diet. These are virtually calorie free and are chalk full of good nutrition that will keep you healthy on your flat abs diet. Since hunger is one of the biggest reasons people go off their diet, by ensuring you're getting plenty of vegetables you prevent hunger from getting the best of you. So make sure you're following these principles to help you get six pack abs fast. As long as you're making a conscious effort to change many of the aspects of your diet, there is no reason why you can't get the results you're looking for.

KUNDALINI YOGA

Meditations and Kundalini yoga kriyas are an experimental method to encourage contact with our transcendent nature and free from suffering, as we walk the path of personal development. Kundalini Yoga is one of the oldest lines that accurately combines physical exercises, breathing techniques, mental concentration, and meditations with and without mantras for the perfect balance between body, mind and soul. The set of practices called kriyas are designed for specific

outcomes, according to the mental, emotional, physical or energetic aspects that students

need to balance or develop. Kundalini is a discipline and a path to inner freedom, in equanimity, detachment and inner joy. "In kundalini yoga is your most important experience. The experience goes straight to your heart. There are no words that can replace an experience. Your conscience does not accept just words. When you have a foundation of experience and a base of positive habits then you can plan quietly your life so you like "-Yogi Bhajan-

Plyometrics: Building Speed and Power

Plyometrics is a style of resistance training that involves the SSC (Stretch-Shortening-Cycle) of muscles, and focuses primary on developing the greatest force within a short period of time. Plyometrics involve explosive movements that help to improve the muscles' response time, tone, improve balance and also increase flexibility. Plyometrics is not generally recommended for beginners in strength training and is aimed more at sportsmen and women who would look at plyometrics to help them improve their sport. Plyometrics focuses on the development of reactive strength, which is a key factor among many of these athletes. Due to the high degree of explosiveness, it is easy to get injured doing plyometric training, especially if you are not supervised by a personal trainer or sports coach who is proficient in the training style. Generally, plyometrics would only be recommended for athletes who have an already high degree of developed musculoskeletal strength. A typical example of a plyometric move would be a drop jump. In this movement, the athlete stands on a chair or bench and drops down from a set height. As he/she drops down, their knees automatically bend, resulting in a stretch of the extensor muscles. Then, without any pausing, they jump straight up as explosively as possible, extending the legs which results in a shortening of the leg extensor muscles.

THE BENEFITS OF YOGA

Yoga is not a sport, it involves much more than physical exercise, but also seeks mental and spiritual well-being. Practicing yoga allows us to be healthier in every way and feel better, avoiding many problems and diseases from the first moment we start a class. Knowing how yoga changes your body is essential to feeling better inside and out. AFTER YOUR FIRST YOGA CLASS your brain function will improve. Just 20 minutes can increase your cognitive abilities, concentration and memory. It also reduces the stress on the body, which also results in less creation of proteins, responsible for inflammation. And, of course, yoga helps to relax the shoulders, lower back and hamstrings. It brings more power and generates less body fat than other exercises. AFTER A FEW MONTHS of practicing yoga regularly you’ll notice that your blood pressure is lower, especially if you suffer from moderate hypertension. After practice timing yoga for 15 weeks it significantly improves your lung capacity, allowing your

Fry the chorizo in a large frying pan with a lid, over a medium heat until it is

starting to crisp up and release its oil. Add the onion and cook for 5 mins until starting to soften. Then add the garlic and finely chopped parsley, and fry for 1 min more. 2. Pour on the stock and tomatoes. Bring to the boil, reduce the heat, then add the beans and sherry vinegar. Simmer for 10 mins until the liquid is slightly reduced. 3. Scatter over the clams, cover with the lid and steam for 2-4 mins, shaking the pan occasionally until the clams are open. Have a little taste before seasoning, as the clams can be quite salty. Then scatter over the chopped parsley. Eat with lots of crusty bread.

600 singers to participate in Torrevieja's 62nd International Habaneras and Polyphony By Andrew Atkinson The Coro Entrevoces, Havana, Cuba, are to star in the 62nd International Habaneras and Polyphony of Torrevieja during July 18-24, 2016. "It is with great satisfaction in the agreement with the Embassy of Cuba Choir 'Entrevoces' from Havana to be in the 62nd International Habaneras and Polyphony of Torrevieja", said Generalitat Vice President, Domingo Soler. Founder and conductor Ms. Digna Guerra has become an internationally respected name in the Choral community for her passion and artistic creativity, having gained Degrees from the Havana Conservatory, Havana Choral School and the Hanns Eisler College of Music in Germany. During my recent visit to Havana, Cuba, I researched the history of Coro Entrevoces, founded in 1981, and entered the Cathedral of the Virgin Mary of the Immaculate Conception, one of eleven Roman Catholic cathedrals, located in the Plaza de la Catedral, in the centre of old Havana, where they have performed. Ms. Guerra, the conductor of the Coro de ICRT in 1965, is the Coro de la Opera Nacional de Cuba and technical Director of the Orquesta Sinfonica Nacional. President of the Habaneras and Torrevieja Mayor, José Manuel Dolon, accompanied by the Generalitat Vice President, Domingo Soler, announced details of the the 62nd International Habaneras and Polyphony of Torrevieja 2016. The Ladies Choir "Aurum" Luanco, Asturias (Spain); San Juan Bautista Abesbatza choir of Leioa, Basque Country (Spain); Chamber Choir "Ad Libitum" of Carr, Valencia (Spain); Grupo Vocal "Elkhos" of Pamplona, Navarra (Spain); Youth Choir of Madrid (Spain); "Liberae Voce" Santa Fe (Argentina); Coro "Entrevoces", Havana (Cuba); "Coralia" from the

University of Puerto Rico, Guaynabo (Puerto Rico); Chamber Choir "Khmelnytskyi" (Ukraine); Municipal Choir "Legenda" Drogobych (Ukraine); Chamber Choir of Merida (Venezuela); "Parahyangan" from the Catholic University of Bandung (Indonesia); Choir "Juventus" from the University of Riga (Latvia); Cantemus Chisnau (Moldova); Coro Gdansk University of Technology (Poland) and the Youth Choir of the Gregorian Institute of Lisbon (Portugal) will participate in the 62nd International Habaneras and Polyphony of Torrevieja. 16 choirs will participate in the 62nd International Habaneras and Polyphony of Torrevieja: "Five choirs are from Spain," said Torrevieja Mayor, José Manuel Dolon. "Spanish choirs have become extremely important to the contest - and they will compete on equal terms with many of the world’s best for the City of Torrevieja prize," said Generalitat Vice President, Domingo Soler. The Coro Entrevoces, Havana, Cuba, are known for their unparalleled performances of music - including Spanish

- English, and Italian Renaissance polyphony; to that of contemporary music, spirituals, Latin American and Cuban folk music. The Coro Entrevoces have appeared in prestigious halls in Cuba, and acted as goodwill ambassadors on an international level plus they have been recognized as a member of the Cuban Diplomatic Corps, and recorded the anthem of the Cuban delegation to the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. The Coro Entrevoces have international acclaim through appearances at various festivals and competitions, with notable performances including Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican. The Coro Entrevoces have performed in Germany, France, Belgium, Spain, receiving First Price in the Chamber Choir category at the International Choir Competition in Masmechelen, Belgium. They also won First Prize in the Vocal Jazz category and in the Madrigals category at the Harmonie 99 choral competition in Lindenholzhausen, Germany. In 2012 their recording of The Edge Wants to be Light by MDG Hummingbird received the Echo Klassik Award in Germany for “Best Choral Recording of 19th or 20th Century Music.” Domingo Soler said one of the novelties of this year was the fact that the actions of Habanera and polyphony will be separated to give the opportunity for corals to change their costumes so they look better in their polyphonic folklore costumes from their place of origin. He also stressed that the television program being negotiated with TVE for the promotion of the contest images of the city are shown to present their culture, traditions and tourist representation.

Lexus LC500h revealed - but buyers will have to wait until 2017 At the Geneva motor show next month Lexus will unveil the LC500h to the public. This is a hybrid variant of the highperformance LC coupe and, Lexus claim, will be able to spin its wheels, even on a dry road. To achieve that they’ve done rather more than simply add power. The key here is not the petrol engine or the electric motor, it is the transmission. Sure, you get plenty of go from the 3.5litre V6 pumping out 295bhp. And, yes, you then gain an extra 60bhp or so from the electric motor. This then all goes to the rear wheels, but it gets there through what Lexus are calling its Multi Stage Hybrid System. And it’s clever. The petrol engine has a four-speed transmission and the electric motor has the variable CVT transmission so common with electric motors. One drawback is it can feel very elastic, with only a loose correlation between revs rising and road speed rising. Lexus have dealt with this by programming the CVT transmission as if it were a normal gearbox. This means it has six gears, or at least the sensation of six gears, to deliver a much more emphatic performance. The effect is like having a ten-speed auto transmission. Naturally this will help the car’s sporting credentials. This is aided further

by weight saving throughout the project, from the GA-L platform with its use of aluminium, through to aluminium on carbon fibre for the bonnet and wings and carbon fibre for the roof. It’s longer, wider and lower than a Merc C-Class Coupe. This gives room in the 2+2 interior for decent space, with the driver sitting as low and as centrally as possible, for the full sporting experience. The instrument cluster is from the LFA and the paddle shifters are made of magnesium alloy. The performance tech is backed up by safety tech, in the form of a pre-crash safety system, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping and automatic high beam assistance. Production is due to start in 2017, and prices are expected to start around the £60,000 mark.

Ford to launch three 'Allroad' models by 2019 Ford is planning to offer three ‘Allroad’ versions of cars in its range within the next three years. The car maker has so far stayed away from the trend to beef up standard models with SUV-inspired cladding, but the firm’s number two executive in Europe, Barb Samardzich, said that Ford couldn’t ignore the growing segment. “You could even include vehicles you might not think about doing it to, like the Fiesta. You put some black cladding in the right spots, roof rack it, and get it looking a lot more active,” she said, without actually naming the models Ford will convert. Neither did she say what name would be given to the crossover-styled cars. The Mondeo Estate would be a strong possibility for the makeover, given that it

already comes with a four-wheel-drive option. The large family car class already includes the new VW Passat Alltrack and it’s likely Skoda will offer an Outdoor version of the new Superb to replace the old model. Also in the VW stable, Audi offers an Allroad version of the A6 Avant and is expected to apply the treatment to the new A4 Avant. The Ford Focus Estate could also made to look more rugged, and would compete against the Seat Leon X-perience and Skoda Octavia Scout. However, the trend hasn’t always taken off; last year Vauxhall stopped selling the Country Tourer version of the Insignia Estate, citing the high cost of converting the car to accept the new ‘whisper’ diesel engine. Ford is trying to position itself as an SUV specialist as it chases market share lost to the likes of Hyundai, Kia and Nissan. The brand will launch the revised Kuga toward the end of this year, adding a new 1.5-litre diesel engine with the potential to hit 64.2mpg while emitting 115g/km of CO2. It will also launch the large Edge SUV later this year, and is expected to apply its luxurious Vignale trim to the duo.

Classic Bedford van hand-painted by Dame Maggie Smith up for auction

A 1957 Bedford van that starred in the award-winning film The Lady in the Van is to be auctioned soon – complete with paintwork applied by the film's muchloved star Dame Maggie Smith. The van is one of two that were specially prepared and cosmetically 'distressed' for the film, which tells the true story of Miss Mary Shepherd, who lived in a Bedford CA van on playwright Alan Bennett's driveway for 10 years. The CA being auctioned was featured extensively in the film and is even seen being painted on-screen by the Harry Potter actress. It is an early split-screen example with two opening rear doors and sliding front doors. It's also the van that featured on the promotional poster for the film, which was directed by the National Theatre's Nicholas Hytner.

It is due to go under the hammer on Sunday March 6 at the NEC in Birmingham. Silverstone Auctions is running the sale, which takes place during the Practical Classics Restoration and Classic Car Show. Managing director of Silverstone Auctions, Nick Whale, said: “We’re excited to be offering a piece of British cinema history at our sale which, paired with the appeal of the Bedford van to classic collectors, makes for a very exciting and unique opportunity for our customers.” The van has reportedly had restoration work completed before filming started. It is said to be in good working order with no bodywork rust. The estimate is £9,000-£12,000, reflecting its celebrity connections and its increasingly sought-after status among collectors.

Torrevieja's unbeaten streak ends Crevillente broke up CD Torrevieja's run of good form by beating them 3-0 on a cold and blustery Sunday afternoon. Although the goal difference may seem excessive the truth is that Crevillente took this victory for their effectiveness in defence and being able to score in those key moments. The home team controlled the run of play as emphasised by the anecdotal statistics of

them having sixteen corners to none for visitors. Torrevieja had their chances with an early opportunity for Rafa Gomez after just four minutes, only to be foiled by Oscar and again with a strong appeal for a possible penalty for Cristian Martin, whose foot was dragged in the area by defender; two important factors that Toreevieja missed to go ahead early on. Defensive errors led to Crevillente's first two goals with their third coming on a counter attack as Torrevieja tried to find a way through. Torry fought on until the end but apart from Lewis hitting the bar, the game was really lost due the poor marksmanship from the torrevejenses in front of goal. The defeat leaves Torrevieja stuck in mid table in eleventh position and eight points away from a playoff position. Another big away game comes up on Sunday 6th March, 2016, when Torry

travel to their biggest local rivals Orihuela CF, with the kick off time still to be announced. Orihuela remain just a point above Torrevieja and so both teams will have much to play for. Photos JOAQUÍN CARRIÓN

Four points from six for Monte By Andrew Atkinson and Terry Harris Sunday's evening kick off resulted in an away draw for Montesinos against Orihuela. CD Montesinos continued their run of good form in the Segunda 2nd Regional Grupo with a 1.1 draw away at Orihuela to remain in the chasing pack for a playoff place. Mario netted for CD Montesinos when shooting from the edge of the penalty area to give the visitors the lead. Macan was lively in the opening stages. Antonio saw a free kick saved and Dario shot over the bar as CD Montesinos pressed. Orihuela netted a late equalizer to thwart Montesinos taking all three points. The weekend results were: Formentera CF 1 - 0 SS

Fulgencio; San Isidro 2 - 6 CD Dolores; Atl. Benejuzar 2- 2 R. Orihuela; Callosa Dep. B 3 - 0 CD Borneo; CD Almoradi B 3 - 2 Dep. Orihuela. Todo Deporte 0- 6 RP Orihuela; Racing San Miguel 3-2 CD Murada; Grupo Caliche 1- 3CD Benijofar; Sporting Orihuela 1 - 1 CD Montesinos. Meanwhile midweek, Mario put the game to bed for Monte as the clock ticked towards midnight with CD Montesinos continuing their recent run of good form with a sixth consecutive victory against CD Borneo in a midweek re-arranged Segunda 2nd Regional Grupo 15 fixture at The Municipal Stadium, Los Montesinos, on February 25, with a 9.00pm kick-off. The original fixture was abandoned after 14 minutes in mid-February - after

a dust-storm swept across the stadium. The game commenced with 76 minutes left to play, with CD Borneo leading 1-0. CD Borneo pressed the home goal, with CD Montesinos keeper Lopez called into action early on. CD Montesinos came more into the game after 10 minutes, with Dario Ferrandes shooting wide. On 25 minutes Macan was put through on the visitor’s goal - only to be cruelly pulled down by two CD Borneo defenders - of which both received yellow cards by the referee. From the resultant free-kick Dario scored to equalise. HT: 1-1. CD Montesinos continued to threaten the CD Borneo goal in the second half. And on 50 minutes Dani ORourke gave CD Montesinos a 2-1 lead following a spectacular diving header - after Macan crossed the ball into the visitor’s penalty area. Lopez was called into action, when making an excellent save from a free-kick, as CD Borneo looked for an equaliser. And ORourke headed over the CD Borneo bar following a corner. Mario was thwarted, when shooting goal wards from two yards out, only to see the CD Borneo keeper parry the ball away. Mario put the game to bed with a late goal to give CD Montesinos a 3-1 win, moving them into fifth place in the table prior to the weekend's matches.

Football y FĂştbol

An interesting weekend of football. We had lots of missed chances that led to a penalty shootout and Manchester City winning the first trophy of the season against Liverpool while Manchester United's 'youth' team managed a surprise 3:2 victory over Arsenal thanks to two more goals from 18 year old Marcus Rashford, and Real Madrid underperformed against cross town Rivals, finishing their chances for any sort of silverware this year, except for the Champions League. Staying at Manchester City, the Sun on Sunday says striker Sergio Aguero, 27, is ready to pledge his future to the club by signing a four-year, ÂŁ52m deal after the Capital One Cup final against Liverpool while Manchester United are planning a summer move for Juventus defender Alex Sandro, 25. Apparently United have also approached Inter Milan over the availability of 31Alex Sandro

year-old defender Miranda noted the Metro. The Evening Standard say that Arsenal will listen to offers this summer for England midfielder Alex OxladeChamberlain, 22, as it is thought he has not made enough progress during his five seasons at the Emirates. The Sunday People add that Arsenal have stepped up their scouting of Ajax midfielder Riechedly Bazoer, 19, known as the 'Dutch Vieira' and the Gunners are looking to make yet another move for Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama, 24, in the summer transfer window. In the Mail on Sunday, Chelsea fear they have missed out on Everton defender John Stones, 21, who is set to move to Manchester City, and could switch their attention to Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann, 29 while Ex-Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has warned his old club that they are in danger of losing their fighting spirit as they try to play beautiful football. The Sunday Telegraph noted that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has accused some of his former players of being more focused on leaving than helping the club win the Premier League while today's winning manager Louis Van Gaal has once again hit out at claims linking Jose Mourinho with his job at Old Trafford and told Dutch television that the speculation is "ridiculous". Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal has warned that injured striker Wayne Rooney, 30, will not be fit for England's friendlies at the end of March say Star on Sunday while apparently Rooney faces the prospect of a knee operation, which could rule him out of this summer's Euro 2016 finals. Very sad news for former broadcaster and England and Spurs legend Jimmy Greaves, 76, who had a stroke nine months ago. The Sunday People say that he has been told by doctors he will never walk again. The Sunday Mirror say that incoming Manchester City

Aleix Garcia

manager Pep Guardiola is planning to give 18-year-olds Aleix Garcia and Ante Coric a chance in midfield next season and it could spell the end for Yaya Toure and Blackpool have issued a public apologised after playing Billy Joel's 'We Didn't Start the Fire' over their PA system before Saturday's game against Bradford City. The West Yorkshire club were struck by tragedy in May 1985 when a blaze at their Valley Parade ground killed 56 people. On the social networks, there was some good-natured banter on Twitter between Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney and golfer Rory McIlroy - a well-known United fan - over the big Saturday night IBF and WBA super-bantamweight fight between Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg. Wayne was even on hand to offer his commiserations to Quigg who was outpointed by Carl Frampton to unite the boxing belts.
