Sean Connery’s Bond with Andalucia Part II By Bob Yareham Although the Mediterranean Sea tends to stand between them, there is no reason why Spain can’t be passed off as Morocco, or even the good old US of A, as is the case in The Wind and the Lion (1975), made wholly in Spain. Even the sacred White House is none other than the elegant games room of the Hotel Palace in Madrid, built in 1912 by order of King Alfonso XIII and situated just across the road from the Spanish Parliament. Furthermore, Yellowstone Park, where President Theodore Roosevelt shoots a Grizzly Bear (not Yogi, fear not!) and later has it stuffed and displayed in the White House, is in reality Boca del Asno in Segovia province, only a 10-minute drive from the royal palace La Granja de San Ildefonso, another location of many famous films. The term ‘Teddy Bear’ is in fact attributed to ‘Teddy’ Roosevelt, who apparently ‘spared’ a baby bear once after executing its mother. Gerald Ford was a slightly less manly President than Roosevelt, who, at a private showing of the film with director John Milius, was pleased to recognise what he thought was the authenticYellowstone Park, where he used to hunt. The film shows us a macho US President, who boxes and practises on the rifle range or shoots the breeze with his bow and arrow instead of merely squashing flies like his modern counterpart, although the shooting was
shot on an estate near Aranjuez and the boxing, rowing and archery took place in El Retiro, one of Madrid’s most important parks. Moreover, the scene where Roosevelt campaigns from the back platform of a train, as politicians used to do before TV took over, was filmed in Las Delicias Railway Museum, previously a railway station, which is also situated in the Spanish capital. For the rest of the film, the Moroccan parts were filmed using scenery and cities from Andalusia. El Raisuli (Connery) has his headquarters in the austere Moorish castle at Calahorra in Granada province, while his enemy the Sultan holes up in the Reales Alcazázares Palace in Sevilla amidst the splendour of an Arabic architecture that rivals the better known La Alhambra of Granada. The polo match too
was played in one of its courtyards. Various deserted Almeria beaches are used, such as Monsul, Genoveses and the massive Matalascañas, as well as the dunes of Cabo de Gata, where the battle sequences take place at the 18th century Castillo of San Felipe, built by King Carlos III at the fossil beach at Punta del Esparto
near Los Escullos. The wildlife park of La Doñana, a 543 km² area of marsh, shallow streams, and sand dunes bordering Sevilla and Huelva provinces, was also employed, and Huelva also provided locations at the town cemetery and the old jail house. The battle between the Gung Ho American forces and the Sultan’s unprepared bodyguards is enacted in front of the façade of the old ‘Museo de las Artes y Costumbres Populares’ in Plaza de las Americas in Sevilla, built by Anibal Gonzalez for the Latin American Exhibition of 1929 as the Pavilion of Industrial Arts in the Mudejar style, with a dazzling display of tiles and bricks, arches and balconies. The film itself borders on the ridiculous, with Connery’s men starting off as the
baddies, massacring Candice Bergen’s staff in an orgy of destruction worthy of the worst efforts of British football hooligans, except that they managed all of it on horseback. They even murder a poor, native servant who valiantly attempts to serve the wine despite an annoying dagger sticking out of his back. Ok, so they had to ride a long way uphill to Candice Bergen’s house admittedly, so they were probably peeved; but no more so than the citizens of Almeria’s Al Medina district, up through which they fearlessly rode. Later however, the baddies become the goodies, albeit bloodthirsty ones, obsessed with their long curving blades, which are no doubt symbolic of something or other. Twenty US Marines were used in the making of this
picture, as were a number of Special Forces troops from the Spanish army. The military scenes are in fact still apparently used as training films for the US Marine Corps. As well as playing themselves as marines, the American soldiers weren’t too proud to also play the slaves pulling the Sultan’s lavish carriage in another scene, and they can clearly be seen chewing gum if you look closely enough. The Marine assault on Tangier was filmed over the course of several weeks. The scenes, where the ‘American’ soldiers run in formation towards the Bashaw’s Palace, scattering frightened locals, were filmed in Almeria and Sevilla. Almeria also provided the American Embassy,
which was in fact the city’s Casino. The final showdown, a curious battle between Connery’s Berbers allied with the Americans who had engineered a coup d’etat in Morocco, fighting against a German army, whose presence is never really explained, but who are clearly the genuine baddies, in liege with the Sultan’s remaining un-massacred men, took place at the ‘Aqaba’ set, which had been constructed years ago for the film Lawrence of Arabia at Algorocibo beach in Almeria. This same year that he made this film, Sean Connery got married in Gibraltar, the place he has chosen twice for his nuptials, so far.

Human-oriented Technology Greatly Enhances Life and Happiness CES is a gathering for the Chinese internet industry and a revelry of science and technology media. Nowadays, we can see names of Chinese brands, like Huawei, Mi, TCL, Letv and more all over the overseas professional technological websites, such as CNET and at CES. AI, AR and VR have become the most popular key words. However, most of the intelligent products, such as Microsoft's HoloLens, Google Glass, unmanned driving, Magic Leap AR technology, are just concept products and only exist in news headlines due to the restrictions of policy, development of technology and cost. Let's have a look at some of the new trends at this week's CES 2017. From up in the sky to under the water, smart ROV FiFish can swim freely under the sea Taihuoniao Technology & QiYuan Technology launched "FiFish-Atlantis", the world's first smart underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV), which won the CES 2017 Innovation Award for Drones. The product has several independent technologies, including its underwater propulsion system, underwater camera and lighting system, control system, the telecommunication gear for underwater remote control and real-time display system above water. It can transmit high-resolution images from underwater. With a VR device, users can totally immerse themselves in the zero gravity of underwater. Baidu Duer and Ainemo Inc. have co-launched the DuerOS AI operation system at CES 2017 as well as the brand new "Little Fish" video talking robot powered by DuerOS, Baidu's AI assistant platform. Users can control it via the screen and the touch panel. Compared to the previous model, the latest model has more human-oriented application scenes including face recognition and tracking, voice recognition, and semantic recognition. Users can also talk with "Little Fish" and tell it their needs via voice control, such as smart home functions, music play, reading news, as well as Online to Offline (O2O) services like calling food delivery services. JUISIR, a cold pressing juicer, has a higher juice yield than its counterparts and it preserves more of the nutrition and enzymes in fruits and vegetables as no heat is generated. The exclusive disposable or recycled plastic bags used with the machine is a
special design feature to help users avoid direct contact of fruits and vegetables with the machine as a way to guarantee hygiene and safety and save the trouble of cleaning the machine. The 8-ton pressure inside the machine makes sure the juice is extracted to the greatest extent. Put fruit in the JUISIR and wait for 90 seconds; you'll have a perfect glass of juice. JUISIR will be launched on Kickstarter on January 12, 2017. The only smart piano in the world certified by MFi of Apple Inc. Connected to the APP via iPhone/iPad/Android, it provides various functions including instruction, games and social. In 2015, after "The One¡Light", the portable version of the piano was launched. Lang Lang, the world famous pianist from China, decided to invest in it and recommended it to the world. So far, "The One" has signed IPR contracts with Hal Leonard and Alfred Music, the two largest music publishers in the world, and is able to provide music scores of more than 10,000 authorized songs. Users are able to study according to their own plan and they can learn to play the song Fur Elise in only one month. The LG CordZero vacuum may be better than Dyson as its engine is said to be 16 times faster than that of a plane. It is equipped with two detachable batteries and the extension-type handle can reach every corner in a room. It can work for 80 minutes after one charge. Many people are looking forward to seeing the PK between LG and Dyson, which is another big name in home appliances. Want to feel the existence of someone in another place? A VR device will make it come true. Deepoon VR, a Chinese VR and internet company has worldleading PC-end and mobile terminals and covers 68% of the domestic market. Deepoon VR AIO has been recognized as the best VR AIO so far and it can be paired to the M-Polaris mobile inter-space positioning system. When paired with a high-end massage chair, the VR helmet can give you the experience of being massaged while surrounded by beauty. The new generation of PC VR helmet, the Deepoon E3, will be launched at CES. Are you always 10 minutes late no matter how fast you run between the subway and the bus? Scooters and monocycles have become popular
among college students and other young people because they are portable and less likely to be stolen. Nanjing Fastwheel Technology focuses on short-distance transportation and has three major products: monocycle EVA, twist car N1 and electric scooter F0, all of which have attracted a lot of urban white-collar workers and fashionable players and have become new transportation choices for college students. They even paved a running track at the booth and visitors can participate in a competition game. Electric car & unmanned driving: All companies have plans in mind. How is Faraday Future going Faraday Future showed up at CES 2016 but there hasn't been much news coming out since then about vehicle production, running on the roads, collision tests or anything else. However, big names like Tesla, Ferrari and Bentley are pretty active. As optimized electric automobile technology, policy support and charging pile deployment have become well-developed, Tesla will further expand its strength globally. In addition, Honda has also developed a vehicle-mounted telecommunication system for its concept car, the NeuV, to solve the traffic jam problem. VR or AR? While you were still hesitating, ASUS and Google have co-developed a new smart phone, the ASUS Zenfone AR. Although it looks no different from ASUS's previous products, it has both AR and VR applied on the device. It also supports Google Daydream View, a mobile VR platform, Tango high sensor, AR technology and sports Qualcomm's Snapdragon 821 chip. During CES US media has been mocking President-elect Donald Trump for his "Governing by Twitter" and noting that his focus on bringing back manufacturing may make the stock prices of technology companies fall from the peak to a bottom like a rollercoaster at any time. The significance of a new technology lies in acquiring a better living experience. CES not only showcases cutting-edge hardware technology, but also its original attempt of human-orientation and life evolution. Consumers around the world are now attaching more importance to product details and user experience and this may be a good opportunity for Chinese brands to stand out.

How Women’s Concepts of Beauty are Changing By StatePoint The modern age has expanded the scope of what Americans consider beautiful, while at the same time, it has also introduced social media -- an ever-present reminder of one’s appearance. In an effort to better understand these shifts, L’Oréal Paris recently commissioned a study with Ipsos engaging women on the topic and shared some top insights on this beauty evolution. Changing Values Women are changing how they view beauty to be a more holistic, progressive and optimistic vision. A majority of women see beauty differently than they did 10 years ago. They believe beauty is about progress -- not perfection -- and are optimistic about continuing to be beautiful as they age. Most surveyed admit that while women in their 40’s, 50’s and 60’s used to be considered to “look old,” women of the same age today are “in their prime.” Furthermore, beauty standards have changed and expanded as we’ve become a more culturally diverse, global community. Skincare still “Worth It” While many factors play a role in beauty, the care and appearance of skin determines how beautiful a woman feels, according to the survey respondents, particularly in the social media age. Beauty routines can be time-consuming; however, women
Vanessa Hernandez, celebrity esthetician. “Finding one tailored for your skin type is so important and from there, it’s like a mini facial in the comfort of your home.” To find one tailored for you, first determine your skin type. The PureClay Masks from L’Oréal, for example, are made from clay minerals sourced globally and are offered in three varieties for specific skin needs -whether you want to reduce excess shine, reduce dull skin and even out skin tone, or exfoliate and tighten pores.
strongly believe the skin care element is “worth it.” “We’re seeing a major shift in routines of millennial women. Four out of the five skincare products used are cleansers. This is dramatically different from what we saw in the past,” says Dr. Rocio Rivera, L’Oréal Paris director of scientific communications. Among the top regimens women are incorporating into their skincare is the use of athome facial masks that cleanse and beautify skin by absorbing oils and impurities. “I am often asked ‘what are little ways to make a difference at home?’ Hands-down a mask is usually the answer,” says
Inner Beauty How women feel on the inside dictates how beautiful they feel overall. When describing what makes them beautiful, the women surveyed described a number of emotional traits -- and these qualities vary by generation. Growing confidence is important to Millennials as they move from their 20s to 30s. There is hope among them that they will continue to grow stronger and healthier. For boomers, staying active and feeling young is important to them as they age. Personality, however, is timeless. Women of all ages and ethnicities believe their outlook on life is a huge part of what makes them feel beautiful, concluded the researchers. From new skincare habits to new outlooks, women are viewing beauty differently these days and taking different steps to achieve it.

Is Your Family Prepared in the Event of an Emergency? By StatePoint While most people don’t like to think about worst case scenarios, giving them their proper consideration can ultimately offer peace of mind. Now is always the best time to get your home and family ready for a range of emergencies. Here are three steps to take. Stock Up Every home should contain a supply kit that includes a surplus of nonperishable food items, as well as fresh bottled water. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recommends one gallon per person in your household per day for three days. FEMA also recommends that the kit include prescription medications for everyone in the family, personal hygiene items, a flashlight, extra batteries and matches, amongst other items. For a complete list, visit fema.gov. Free Yourself of Your Phone While we all know that smartphone technology and other mobile devices offer us useful information, in an emergency scenario these devices may lose their signal or their battery life. Stay prepared and informed no matter what happens with wearable technology that is not at the mercy of a cellphone tower or a battery that needs to be recharged every few
hours. For example Casio’s PRO TREK PRG300 timepieces feature functions like an altimeter, compass and barometer (great for staying aware of changes in temperature or air pressure). They also deliver this information hands-free, which can be useful any day of the week but extra valuable in an emergency. Get Insured Is your home and property properly insured? Know what your homeowners insurance covers and determine whether it is sufficient to meet your needs. For example, homeowners insurance policies do not typically cover flooding, which requires separate coverage. Learn more about your home’s primary risks and get covered now, before it’s too late. No one has a crystal ball that can see into the future, so to best protect your family and your home, get prepared for everything.
A happy home might just be the best way to a healthy you If someone was to suggest that we're healthier when our partners are happy, it probably wouldn't come as that much of a surprise to anyone in a relationship, or anyone who has ever been in a relationship. After all, things are a lot less stressful when our other half is content, rather unpleasant to be around when things go awry, and our emotional and mental states have been linked to our physical condition. As such, perhaps it didn't need a study by Michigan State University academics to deliver the not-sostartling news. Or maybe it did. Either way, it has happened, or at least it has happened to some extent. From 1,981 married couples that took part in the Health and Retirement Study, those whose most precious were happy reported back as having the least health worries overall. Spanning ages 50 to 94, perhaps what's most interesting about it all is that by this 'second half' of many people's lives they are naturally becoming less mobile, and that means maintaining good health
can become more difficult. Add to this the fact that rates of long term illness naturally rise the older we get, and you start to realise just how much environment could make a difference in getting people to take the necessary steps towards keeping themselves in good shape. For one thing, when we're happy we tend to want to go outside morewhether that's walking, socialising, or simply shopping. Either way, that's good exercise, and it also encourages trying new things- for example yoga, or seeing a specialist about that bad back, which we might be less inclined to do under more metaphorical grey skies. As with so many things in life, even the most disparate health problems can be linked to each other, and have an effect on each other. The point being we cannot remove psychological wellbeing, and mental health, from the physical, because that's not how humans- or any other animal- works. This should be the first thing any 'better' or 'healthier' you article makes clear, so consider what you've just read an introduction to the wider

Thousands hit by All Leisure collapse Thousands of holidaymakers have been affected by the collapse of All Leisure Holidays, run by industry stalwart Roger Allard. All Leisure, which operated Swan Hellenic and Voyages of Discovery, was placed in administration on Wednesday, with 13,000 passengers booked on future departures and around 400 abroad. Allard had already orchestrated a deal to sell the company's third cruise line, Hebridean Island Cruises, to a group of investors late last year. He remains chairman. He has expressed sadness at the demise of the rest of the company and blamed a 'geopolitical storm'. ABTA confirmed that all future Swan Hellenic and Voyages of Discovery cruises have been cancelled. Both brands had earlier announced they were cancelling this week's departures for 'operational reasons'. Approximately a third of the future bookings are ex-UK departures, which are
financially protected by ABTA. The remainder are protected under the company's ATOL. The CAA has posted details on its website for customers claiming refunds. It said All Leisure currently has 400 customers abroad, although due to this week's cruise cancellations, none are currently on ships. Arrangements are being made to repatriate all customers, said the CAA. Andy Cohen, head of ATOL at the CAA, said: "We understand this will be concerning news for anyone who has booked to travel with the company. However, the ATOL scheme exists for exactly this kind of situation and we are making immediate arrangements so all ATOL protected customers can claim full refunds as quickly as possible. "We are also arranging for people currently overseas to get back home to the UK at no extra cost - meaning no-one will be left stranded abroad. "So while this situation is very disappointing for the customers affected, it is also a timely reminder of the importance of remembering to check for
ATOL protection when booking holidays." The CAA has also set up a dedicated helpline for affected customers from the UK on 0808 164 8810 Another member of the All Leisure Holidays Group, Page and Moy Travel Group Holidays, which operated the singles brand Just You and soft adventure firm Travelsphere, has been bought by G Adventures. "Therefore holidays will continue to go ahead and are ATOL protected by G Adventures (UK) Ltd. Customers with queries about their bookings should contact G Adventures (UK) Ltd for more information," it said. A spokesman for Travelsphere and Just You said existing staff will continue to work for both brands. "Both Travelsphere and Just You will remain to be based in their head office in Market Harborough and the brand names will remain," he said. "The announcement of the sale was made to staff on Tuesday. All tours are planned to go ahead and our customers." Travel agents expressed sadness at the collapse of All Leisure, which one described on the Facebook site Travel Gossip as having 'a great team', while others said they were relieved that Just You and Travelsphere bookings would still go ahead.
Flight Compensation app Growing In Popularity Fed up with delayed flights? Airfair offer a free, no obligation flight check to see if you are owed compensation. By law, you could be owed up to €600 per person. Whether your flight was delayed, cancelled or you were refused boarding, the Airfair app could be telling you how much you’re owed within minutes. If your flight departed from an EU airport and was delayed over 3 hours, you could receive compensation of up to €600pp under EU law. Simply input your flight details and they’ll do the rest. Airfair are a leading flight compensation company who will handle your claim on a no win, no fee basis. A new app which claims to offer air passengers an easy way to see if they are owed compensation for a flight delay that was launched in October 2016, is growing in popularity. AirFair, which claims to be the first of its kind in the UK, allows users to check if they are eligible for compensation for any flight delayed for more than three hours within the EU in the past six years. Free to download to iOS and Android
devices, the app could lead to more claims to airlines for compensation for delays. According to Allay, the claims management company behind the app, passengers only need their booking reference or flight number to launch a claim, or they can check if their flight is eligible just by using a departure date and destination airport. Steven Bell, managing director of airFair, said: "A lot of people do not realise that they are entitled to claim compensation for delayed flights and therefore miss out on money that they are entitled to. "But claiming compensation through the airline can be timeconsuming, so we are trying to make it an easy, hassle-free process. With airFair, by the time you board your delayed flight you will have been able to start your claim for compensation on the app. "This is a first of its kind for the UK but we're already working on version 2, which will be even easier for consumers to claim what they are owed." Allay already claims to handle 28,000 compensation claims a month.

Ray's Rant:

Towards A Positive 2017
By Ray Kearney
How often have you said “Happy New Year”? Was 2016 any better for you than 2015 or 2014? Will 2017 be any different either? If you do the same things in 2017 as you did in 2016, your circumstances cannot change. Do you ever feel that your life is going in circles, doing the same things, going to the same places and seeing the same people? We can’t control wars and terrorist attacks but there are many things we can control. If you want your life to change and improve this year read on. If not, then continue as normal. I am not talking about a quick fixes, I’m talking about positive longterm change by developing good habits and eliminating bad habits. People are complex. We learn, reason and reach conclusions. Then we either change or continue as we were. We need to realize that we all have needs, physical, emotional and spiritual. Change is possible if we really want it and are prepared to develop some good habits and eliminate bad habits to achieve what we want. If we do something continuously for one month it becomes a habit. So would you like to re-design yourself this year? Maybe change your body, be healthier, more attractive, richer, and have better relationships with family and friends?
Imagine you wanted to build a house, you wouldn’t immediately go to the builder’s providers and order tons of material, no, you would draw up plans first, you would design the house you want to have. You might get professional help. You’d first decide on the number and sizes of rooms and make up a comprehensive plan of what you want. You would be unwise to ignore things like the foundations, roof, windows and doors. All the individual aspects of a house are important and affect the other parts. The different aspects that make you up are important too. Failure happens when you ignore any element that makes you up – physical, intellectual, emotional, educational, spiritual, financial and your relationships. Start by making a written list of what is important to you under each of the above headings. Imagine your list is 20 items long. Identify one or more positive things you could do for each item that may improve that item. Decide to make a habit of the activity you’ve decided upon, and then do it. For example, your relationship with your brother in Australia has
deteriorated to a card each Christmas. You identify that this relationship is important to you and you want to improve it. Your decision is to make a habit of talking to your brother every weekend on Skype or whatsapp (which costs nothing). By this time next year your relationship with your brother will probably be rich and fulfilling. Some habits you form could have many benefits, stopping smoking for example will improve your health, energy and stamina but it will also improve your financial situation. By this time next year you’ll be on average 2,000€ richer, you’ll be able to climb stairs without being out-of-breath and you are more likely to live longer pain-free. I changed my life doing this, you can too, if you feel you would like to know more, email me on coastclr@gmail.com or read: “The 7 habits of highly effective people” by Stephen R. Covey published by Simon & Schuster. Happy New Year.

31 years Without Phil Lynott
By Keith Nicol
On January 4, 1986, I was working away on the Sun Line's Stella Solaris Cruise Ship as their resident Disc Jockey. On Saturday the 4th, the cruise line began the 1986 season with the Amazon River / Halley's Comet. That day, my girlfriend Tara and I went ashore to enjoy the sights and smells of Manaus, Brazil, at the mouth of the Amazon. On a small Black and White TV in a shop window, the Brazilian News was on and I saw a photo of Phil Lynott with dates under his name announcing his death. About 1974, I managed to sneak n the back door of the Queen's Court Hotel in Bangor Co.
Down to see Thin Lizzy perform, as I knew friends of Gary Moore, who had just rejoined the band. It was a pleasure to meet Phil and Gary after the gig and I'd occasionally bump into him in Dublin.
Thirty-One years ago Thin Lizzy‘s hard-living frontman and bassist Phil Lynott died at the tender age of just 36 from heart failure and pneumonia, having been admitted to Salibury Hospital in Wiltshire, England, on Christmas Day after “a drink and drug binge” at his home. Thin Lizzy found initial fame in the U.K. with a raucous early-’70s version of the traditional Irish folk song “Whisky in the Jar.” A few years later, Lynott and Company broke in America with their one and only major US No. 12 hit “The Boys Are Back in Town.” Lynott was born to a Brazilian father and an Irish mother in 1949 and had been in a series of regional bands including Skid Row and Orphanage. Lizzy began in 1970 with Eric Bell on guitar and Brian Downey on drums. Guitarists Brian Robertson and Gorham arrived a couple of years later. He also collaborated with Lizzy’s Gary Moore on 1979’s Parisienne Walkways and 1985’s Out in the Fields. But Lynott seemed to be
slowly slipping into obscurity as that fateful Christmas Day approached in 1985.
The accomplishments of Jimi Hendrix as a black musician were a huge inspiration to Lynott, who was half black himself. He remembered Jimi on the 10th anniversary of his death in 1980 with ‘Song For Jimi,’ a relative rarity featuring former Lizzy bandmates Eric Bell and Brian Downey. At the time of his death, it
was rumoured that Lynott was in line to potentially portray Hendrix in a planned biopic. Pre-Thin Lizzy, Lynott was in a ‘60s band called Skid Row with future Lizzy bandmate Gary Moore.
Necessary removal of his tonsils left Lynott without a gig when the band sacked him for his absence. His tonsils were actually causing him to sing offkey. It worked out just fine for Phil though, because a few years later, he found himself a part of Thin Lizzy, the new band that would be the ultimate vehicle for his future success. The Success of ‘Whiskey In The Jar’ Was a Bit of a Fluke: The song was originally set to be nothing more than a B-side, it was the record label’s idea to make it a single. The Lizzy guys were completely against the idea, feeling that ‘Whiskey’ wasn’t representative of their true sound as a band. The label’s choice ended up being a good idea, commercially at least. On the list of awkward ways to close an interview, one that statistically produces an unpredictable result is any variation of “So, what else do you have to say to the fans?” Lynott had a great answer waiting on day, as he replied “Look, I hate those guys in interviews that say 'Come and see the band, and buy all the records.' They always sound so insincere. So I'd like to say, really sincerely, Come and see the band and buy all the records.”

The Official Top 40 biggest selling vinyl albums and singles of 2016 Last year, 2016, sales of vinyl passed the three million mark; the highest for the format in 25 years. Jack White wrote: about the Official Top 40 biggest selling vinyl albums and singles of 2016, noting that David Bowie was the leading force within 2016's continuation of the vinyl revival sweeping the nation. David's final studio album Blackstar was the best selling LP on black plastic over the last 12 months, shifting 54,000 units since it was released in January 2016. Two days after the album was made available, David unexpectedly died from cancer, leading to a significant period of national mourning for one of the UK's most iconic musicians. In addition to Blackstar, a further four of David's classic releases feature in the Official Top 40 biggest sellers of 2016: The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust (13), Hunky Dory (16), Nothing Has Changed - The Very Best Of (17), and Changesonebowie (28). More than three million LPs were sold in 2016, the first time that threshold has been passed for 25 years, a report from the British Phonographic Industry (the BPI) revealed today. The last time such a figure was spent was in 1991, when Simply Red's Stars was the best seller of that year. 2016 was the ninth year in a row that vinyl sales had increased
(by 44% compared to 2015), with vinyl albums even making more money than digital album sales for one week across November and December. Back to the biggest vinyl records of the year and another artist sadly no longer with us is the year's second biggest seller. Strong sales influenced by her legacy and stocking in a wide variety of retailers, Amy Winehouse's Back to Black accumulated 35,500 sales in 2016. Other posthumous entries in the Top 10 come from Bob Marley, Prince, and Nirvana, whom were fronted by the late Kurt Cobain. British acts dominate the overall Top 40, with the majority of the albums making the cut being the works of British acts. The likes of The Smiths, Oasis and Arctic Monkeys appear twice while 2016 success stories The 1975, The Last Shadow Puppets, Biffy Clyro and Catfish & The Bottlemen also appear. Looking at vinyl singles, it is The Stone Roses who rule the roost. The band released their 2016 comeback singles All For One and Beautiful Thing on vinyl, with the two tracks sitting at Numbers 1 and 2 on the year-end list. The Top 20 also features four entries from David Bowie, two entries for Noel Gallagher (one with Oasis and another with High Flying Birds) and a surprise entry from Kylie and Dannii Minogue's 100 Degrees.

Song Facts: Careless Whisper By Keith Nicol After the sad and untmely passing of George Michael at the tender age of 53 on Christmas Day, his music has become a feature of the album, singles and download chart in the New Year, with vinyl to follow. Sales and streaming figures for George‘s most popular tracks have surged by 5625% since his death, according to the Official Charts Company. His greatest hits album, Ladies & Gentlemen, re-entered the top 10 for the first time in 17 years, and a number of his singles have raced up the chart. Wham!’s festive classic Last Christmas climbed to number seven, marking the song’s return to the top 10 the first time in 31 years. In a moving statement, Michael’s former longterm partner, Kenny Goss, said that he wanted fans and the public to remember the singer as he was. “The beautiful memories and music he brought to the world will always be an important part of my life and those who also loved and admired him,” he said.
In the UK a number of George’s best-known albums have also returned to the rundown – his last album with Wham!, The Final, is at 40 and 2006’s Twenty Five is at 47. Faith from 1987, 2014’s Symphonica and 1996’s Older are all back in the Official Albums Chart Top 100. The singles chart is also full of his songs, with Careless Whisper landing at 44, Faith at 64 and his Elton John duet Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me at 91.. With the chart announced on Friday night just as went to Press, his chart positions will be even greater this week. The music of the late iconic pop star George Michael has also climbed the Billboard charts in the USA following the singer’s untimely death on Christmas day. According to Nielsen Music, George Michael’s albums and individual tracks, including those with his band Wham!, have seen a surge in sales of 2,678 percent. Indeed, Michael (and Wham!) earned 103,000 equivalent album units (a combination of streams and downloads), with three of the singer’s solo albums and Wham!’s Make It Big landing in the Billboard 200 album chart. The highest charting record is George Michael’s greatest hits Twenty Five, which entered the chart at number 12 , a new high for the collection. Elsewhere, Faith, the singer’s solo debut, lands at number 18, with his 1998 greatest hits compilation, Ladies & Gentlemen: The Best of George Michael, entering at number 84. In terms of individual songs, Michael’s “Careless Whisper” was the highest charting song, entering the Billboard Hot 100 at number 33. The track was also the singer’s best selling song of the week, shifting 53,000 downloads (up an apparent 3,423 percent).
Careless Whisper Contrary to popular belief, this song was not based on an actual event in George Michael's high school dating life, but rather he thought the whole thing up while boarding a bus. It was a fictitious story, but the tune was great and the song was a hit. Michael was just 17 when he wrote this song. He was taking the bus to his job as an usher at a cinema when the inspiration struck - that's where the reference to "The silver screen" comes from in the first verse. With lines like "Guilty feet have got no rhythm," the song demonstrated his innate talent for the mature songwriting he demonstrated as a solo artist. George Michael claimed that he got more compliments on his writing of the sax solo at the beginning of the song than on anything else he had ever written. The saxophone part was played by Steve Gregory, a session player based in London. As verified by Chris Porter, who was the engineer on the session, 10 different sax players tried to do the solo before Gregory came up with the sound Michael was looking for. One of the challenges was getting so many notes in one breath. This was accomplished when Porter slowed down the tape when he recorded Gregory's solo. When he played the tape back at normal speed, Michael approved it. The result is one of the most famous sax solos in popular music. Most Wham! songs were written solo by George Michael, but this one was also credited to Andrew
Ridgeley, the other half of Wham!. The song was released on the duo's second album, Make It Big, but was also released as a George Michael solo single - credited in the US to "Wham featuring George Michael." "Careless Whisper" was a massive hit, establishing Michael as a solo star but also providing a nice payday for Ridgeley, who got half of the songwriting credit. A few different versions of this song were recorded. The first version was recorded for the Wham! album, but George Michael also recorded it separately for single release. Before going on tour with Wham! to support the album, Michael flew to Alabama with producer Jerry Wexler, where they recorded the song at Muscle Shoals Sound Studios - the same place Wexler sent many Atlantic Records artists to record in the '60s and '70s. Michael then recorded the song in a more familiar location: Sarm Studios in West London. This was the version that was released as a single. According to 1000 UK #1 Hits by Jon Kutner and Spencer Leigh, Michael said, "I wasn't secure enough to write something that would expose my feelings, so it's very clichéd in a lot of its terms." He also has complained, "It disappoints me that you can write a lyric very flippantly and it can mean so much to so many people." This was Epic Records first million-selling single and it was George Michael's biggest-selling single in the UK, either as a solo artist or with Wham!, selling 1,365,995 copies. In America, "Careless Whisper" was certified platinum, meaning it sold over 2 million copies. In the UK, this won the Ivor Novello award for being the Most Performed Work in 1984. It would later reach #1 in more than 25 countries and sell in excess of six million copies worldwide. In an interview with the Christmas 2009 issue of The Big Issue, Michael said of this song, "I'm still a bit puzzled why it's made such an impression on people... Is it because so many people have cheated on their partners? Is that why they connect with it? I have no idea, but it's ironic that this song which has come to define me in some way - should have been written right at the beginning of my career when I was still so young. I was only 17 and didn't really know much about anything - and certainly nothing much about relationships." In the notes for the single, George Michael dedicated this song to his parents, saying it was "five minutes in return for 21 years."

National Television Awards unveil shortlisted stars and shows in tv’s biggest election The votes are in, the viewers have spoken and Britain’s best-loved programmes and performers are revealed in the shortlist for the 22nd National Television Awards! Now, the final round of voting opens today and the nation must decide which shortlisted stars and shows will win a coveted trophy at the spectacular celebrations broadcast live on ITV on the 25th January 2017 from The O2 London and hosted by Dermot O’Leary. This year sees a brand new category, Period Drama. Recognising the huge appeal of historical sagas, the award sees ITV newcomer Victoria and the BBC’s Poldark renew their Sunday night rivalry alongside returning favourite Call The Midwife, stylish gangster epic Peaky Blinders and Netflix newcomer Stranger Things, which notches the first ever NTAs nomination for a drama on a streaming service. Can reigning champions Ant & Dec make it an incredible 16-year winning streak and retain their TV Presenter title? Stiff competition comes from Mel & Sue for their swansong series of Bake-Off and Gary Lineker, who hosted the first Match Of The Day of the season in his underwear after promising to do so if Leicester City won the league. James Corden and Rylan Clark-Neal are also aiming to dethrone the Geordie duo. TV Judge hails the crucial role of our iconic talent show judges and looks like one of the most closely fought awards. Strictly’s head judge Len Goodman and Bake-Off’s much-loved Mary Berry are both shortlisted for their farewell series, while BGT’s David Walliams and X Factor diva Nicole Scherzinger are pitted against their boss, talent show king Simon Cowell. So often, our Live Magazine Show contenders become the TV talking points of the day, with the agenda set on BBC Breakfast, exclusive interviews on This Morning and Sunday Brunch, lively debate with the Loose Women and A-list guests on The One Show sofa. Competition between programmes in the Talent Show category is a fierce three-way fight between those ratings-grabbing entertainment juggernauts Britain’s Got Talent, The X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing. Will conjuring, crooning or choreography help get the nod? Do the public prefer magician Richard Jones, Honey G or Ed Balls? The Challenge Show award acknowledges the addictive nature and talking point appeal of reality elimination series. Will it be a contest from sunnier climes like I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! or Love Island? Or did Britons prefer the homespun
charms of MasterChef, The Apprentice or The Great British Bake-Off, in its last year on BBC1? Serial Drama is as hotly contested as ever. EastEnders has romped to victory for the past two years but can the resurgent Coronation Street, explosive Emmerdale or ever-thrilling Hollyoaks steal the BBC serial drama’s title? The whole spectrum is covered in the Drama Category: Casualty celebrated its 30th birthday in spectacular style, Cold Feet returned as though it had never been away, The Night Manager brought a glossy sheen to Sunday nights, Happy Valley’s second series proved every bit as gripping as its first, while Game of Thrones solidified its position as a worldwide phenomenon. Let battle commence. It’s an intriguing battle of the sexes in Drama Performance, with two men -The Night Manager’s dashing leading man Tom Hiddleston and Peaky Blinders’ ice-cool gangland boss Cillian Murphy taking on two women in Happy Valley’s heroic Sarah Lancashire and Jenna Coleman for her portrayal of the spirited young queen in Victoria. The shows up for Entertainment Programme really are the best in the biz: from the family fun of Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway to the irreverent antics of Celebrity Juice, from the Hollywood stars gracing The Graham Norton Show to the razor-sharp dissection of the week’s news on The Last Leg. The contenders for Serial Drama Performance have all been through the emotional wringer this year. Lacey Turner delivered a devastating portrayal of Stacey Slater’s postpartum psychosis in EastEnders, while Coronation Street’s Jack P Shepherd went from grieving widower to vengeful vigilante as David Platt. Two Emmerdale stars complete the shortlist: Danny Miller, who moved us to tears with Aaron’s abuse story, and Natalie J Robb excelled as grieving mum Moria Dingle. Making an immediate splash in serial drama is no easy feat but four
success stories are jostling to be named Newcomer. Duncan James moved from pop stardom to acting with aplomb to play cop-under-suspicion Ryan Knight in Hollyoaks. Faye Brookes was a feisty arrival on the Coronation Street cobbles, Lloyd Everitt wasted no time when it came to saving lives as Casualty’s new paramedic Jez Andrews and Tilly Keeper has turned heads as troublesome teen Louise Mitchell in EastEnders. It’s Britain vs. America for the Comedy crown, with home-grown hits Benidorm and Mrs Brown’s Boys taking on two cult big hitters from the US: brainiac favourite The Big Bang Theory and Netflix’s Orange Is The New Black. Public service came to the fore in Factual Entertainment as DIY SOS: the Big Build changed lives at Great Ormond Street Hospital, while the Tattoo Fixers helped people transform extreme inking disasters. Making a Murderer gripped ondemand fans by meticulously documenting a twisty true case of homicide, we lapped up a new series of Paul O’Grady: For the Love of Dogs, plus Gogglebox continued to be the must-see start to our weekends. Daytime would definitely be a duller place without these four nominees: our two big teatime quiz hits The Chase and Pointless, hard-hitting talk show The Jeremy Kyle Show and dinner party hostoff Come Dine With Me. The National Television Awards is the UK’s leading TV awards event, celebrating the UK’s favourite TV. The NTAs are the awards that listen to the viewing public. And it’s time for them to make their voices heard – by voting! How to vote You can vote free online at www.nationaltvawards.com or by phone in the UK: 0905 647 2017 Calls cost 25p per minute, plus your network access charge, and should last no longer than seven minutes. Votes must be in by noon on Wednesday 25 January 2017. All new votes will be added to those already submitted in the first round and the results will be revealed at the ceremony, LIVE, on ITV from The O2 London on 25 January 2017.

Let It Shine
Announcements about the live shows in February will be made in due course. The Auditions: The Starway In episodes one to four we meet the contestants for the very first time. Each 'auditionee' sings for the live studio audience and judges Gary Barlow, Dannii Minogue, Martin Kemp and guest judge Amber Riley. After their
performances, the judges independently award up to five stars each, without knowing how many stars their fellow judges have given. For the contestants this means they could score anything from a minimum of four stars up to a maximum of 20 stars. The key number is 15: the performers must score 15 in order to make it through to the next stage of the competition. A 'starway' of 20 stars trails from the judges’
desk to the stage where the contestant stands on the 15th star. One by one, the stars light up moving towards the contestant. If the 15th star (the one they are standing on) lights up then they are successfully through to the next stage of the competition. But if the shining stars fall short of the 15th star, then the singer’s journey will be over. The Group Stage: The Collaborations In episode five, the boys who have been successful in the audition stages will take part in a showcase of vocals, dance skills and harmonies that set the scene for what’s to come in the live shows. By the end of this episode the judges will form five boy bands. But before that happens, the boys will
be put into groups of eight and must perform together, to prove they can collaborate with each other and with famous pop stars. Beverley Knight, Kaiser Chiefs, Melanie C, Busted and Olly Murs join as special guests, with each taking a group of boys under their wing for a performance of a medley of hits. Will the boys freeze in the bright lights or seize their moment to shine? After each performance the groups line up on stars and the judges decide which five of the eight have the right blend of talent, charisma and passion to create the best band. Those five names are revealed, with stars trailing from the judges’ desk and lighting up one by one. If the star that a performer is standing on lights up, they are in the band; sadly if their star doesn’t light up, their time on the show is over. The Live Shows: The Battle Of The Bands Twenty five boys will make it to episode six, the first of three live shows. For the first time, they will compete for viewers' votes. Each band has a name, a sound, a look and style of their own - they are now performing as boybands and the judges expect to see polished performances at a professional level. The winning five boys will go on to star in ‘The Band’, a brand new exciting stage musical, featuring the music of Take That. More details regarding the format of the live shows will be revealed in due course.

Turning 60 At Scalextric
This year is a very exciting one for Scalextric as it’s their 60th Anniversary year. In 1957 the Scalextric brand first appeared and created much excitement. It offered a new way to re-create the real world of racing in the home and provided many families with many hours of fun and
excitement that still exists to this day. 2017 takes Scalextric racing to another level with new sets, new cars, but most thrillingly a collectable range of seven specially decorated cars celebrating the seven decades of this iconic brand. This year you could also take
part in your own version of Le Mans. Feel the sense of accomplishment of making it to the end of an endurance race, with nearly five meters of track and four different track configurations to pick from, plus a lap counter to keep track of your progress against your opponent. Even if you prefer shorter, quicker races this set is
perfect with its two Super Resistant Le Mans Prototype cars that can keep going even after more serious accidents. There’s also an adjustable power setting on the hand controllers to limit the speed of a race, perfect for keeping less experienced racers on the track. All the info you need at: www.scalextric.com.

Newcomers Welcome - If You Follow These Steps
Christmas is a time of giving and the time of year when many families decide to adopt a new pet, be it a rescue cat or dog, or a smaller creature from the Pet Shop.
Many animal lovers who experience the joy of sharing their lives with a four-legged friend are spurred on to cement their success with a new addition to the household. Dog lovers often decide to take in another hound as a pal for their prized pooch while soft-hearted cat owners think that they can overcome the traditional battle of the species to introduce a canine companion. But whether it's a cat or a dog, there are a number of basic rules to be observed when introducing another animal into a house that is already home to a treasured pet. Dog behaviourist Mike Mullan advises owners to follow a number of simple steps when bringing home another animal to ensure your household is a haven of peace and harmony as opposed to a fur-flying war zone. Bringing a dog into a home where one is already resident is a very delicate situation as the original
incumbent views it as his or her territory. Mike warns: "There's a good chance that it will attack the other dog, even if it's of the opposite sex. "The best thing to do is, with another person, walk the two dogs together with the two people between them. Then change it round so one dog is on the inside, then again so that both dogs are on the inside. The dogs must be on the lead but should be able to get near each other. "Feed them on opposite sides of a baby gate at the same time so there's no jealousy over food and gradually bring the food bowls closer to the gate. "Never leave them alone together if you're going out. They need to be able to see each other but not be able to get at each other."
Introducing a puppy into a dog-dominated household is somewhat easier, he says. Mike adds: "You still have to be very careful but most dogs will nurture a puppy. A female dog will mother it very quickly while a male dog will guard and protect it. "But be careful to have opposite sexes - never put two females or two male dogs together. And I recommend neutering in an ordinary household if you have two or more dogs." In Mike's extensive experience garnered during more than 50 years working with the animals, it is possible for dogs and cats to become best friends - but this tricky relationship needs some management. He says: "It's more difficult to bring a cat in where a dog is already dominant. Baby gates are a great tool here because the cat always needs an escape. Starve the dog for 36 hours before you bring the cat in and then it'll be more interested in the food than the cat. "Put the cat in a cage in the lounge and have the dog on a lead. Feed them at opposite ends
of the lounge and gradually move the food bowls closer together. Give the dog six or eight very small meals to correspond with the cat's feeding. Afterwards make a fuss of your dog, take him out and play with him." Mike says that by following this routine it should only take a few days before the animals get used to each other - but warns wouldbe owners to persevere with the pet programme for a month before they leave the new friends alone together.

Along with stopping smoking, drinking, various vices and losing weight, improving one's body image is one of the most desired wishes for ladies on their Resolutions list. Breast enlargements were once thought of as tacky and the domain of glamour models and footballers' wives, but it seems the taboo has lifted, as more of us are opting for this procedure. When it comes to cosmetic surgery, forget facelifts, liposuction and tummy tucks, breast enlargement is the most popular procedure and has been for the past 20 years, according to a report by the Harley Medical Group, one of the UK's biggest clinic operators. Unlike the boob jobs of old - think Pamela Andersen and Jordan the breast enlargements of today are less obvious and more natural, according to the report. Typically, 10 years ago, 48 per cent of breast augmentation patients went up by three cup sizes, whereas over the past 12 months the most popular size increase was a more modest two cup sizes. The most popular implant at the Harley Medical Group's clinics is currently the "round high profile", which produces a more rounded appearance to the upper breast, while "contoured" breast implants are designed to reflect the slope of the breast but are not as effective for improving cleavage. Silicone has always been the

The big boob boom turn into fantasies because they lack appropriate measures to develop plans and strategies. "For a goal be met, it is necessary to have a strong cognitive component, including mental images of the target and also to respond to a hierarchy with lower goals or sub-goals that lead us to success," he adds.
Breast implants remain top of the UK's most popular cosmetic procedures
implant of choice as it gives a more natural shape and feel than some of the alternatives. However, its not just breasts that have changed: our attitudes, too, have changed dramatically from 10 years ago. Having breast surgery is no longer kept secret and women are now happy to flaunt their new look and tell others about their operations. Liz Dale, director at the Harley Medical Group, says: "The dramatic rise in people undergoing cosmetic treatments is indicative of the nation's changing attitudes to cosmetic surgery. We have noticed that our patients are more than happy to tell people that they have had surgery and often recommended a particular surgeon to their friends." According to
industry estimates, women spent a staggering ยฃ100 million on breast implants last year and this looks set to rise throughout 2008. But despite its rising popularity, breast enlargement is not something that you should rush into, warns Dale. The invasive surgery is no different from any other operation, involves months of aftercare and can take a while to adapt to. "With the popularity of surgery on the increase it is important to highlight the need for each patient to undergo a thorough consultation," she says. "For any patient who is considering having surgical treatment they should check the clinic's credentials, including whether they are registered with the Healthcare Commission." Despite numerous celebrities implant disasters and its once tacky image, breast augmentation remains the most popular cosmetic surgery procedure, accounting for 30 per cent of all procedures undertaken by the Harley Medical Group in the past 12 months. Over 65 per cent of these patients are between 25 and 35 years old, with the balance mostly post breast feeding. Locally,Quirรณnsalud in Torrevieja (formerly St. Jamie) offers breast augmentation plus a full range of private hospital services. And getting back to those resolutions, they have a few words on how to meet them. It is customary for the start of the new year we create our own list of good intentions. Quitting smoking, keeping a healthy lifestyle, exercise more, eat better and spend more time with family and friends are usually the most common., Experts from Quirรณnsalud Hospitals Torrevieja and Valencia say: "Desires linked to career are best expressed in late summer, coinciding with the beginning of the academic year", explains Dr. Marina Sangonzalo, Quirรณnsalud Hospital psychologist Valencia. But why after a while have we not been able to reach many of them? According to Dr. Sangonzalo, we do not fulfil them because we started them with illusions of grandeur that
For Dr. Miguel Sanchez, a neuropsychologist at Quirรณnsalud Torrevieja Hospital, there are no magic recipes for everything that we usually propose us earlier this year: "It is true that a correct formulation of the purposes and a series of steps to consider increasing exponentially our ability to achieve them, "he explains. Steps to achieve our goals Their Experts advise that you take the following steps to make your New Year's resolutions a reality: Think of an area of your life that needs improvement (personal, emotional, health, work, leisure ...). Try to visualize something related to this area that you'll have to face during the year. Imagine yourself at the moment you reach it. Ask yourself the following questions: What do I need to get over my objective obstacles? Think about everything you can do to reach fruition. Write your purpose for the new year following the acronym "MARS": Measurable: your purpose can be quantified. How many times am I going to run per week? How many hours will I devote to the study of the subject I want to learn? Achievable: that is, it is within my means, and I have the resources to get it. Do not get too high goals. Realistic: it's nothing magical or fantastical. Timed: we must limit in time how many months or weeks later we get to achieve the objective. Specific: I should make my purpose in the most concrete way possible. Sign this role as if it were a contract with yourself. Check it every week to make sure you're complying. If you fail, be patient with yourself, try again, do not stop because you feel guilty. Dr. Sanchez advised to analyse what went wrong or what were the causes of the failure of your purpose, reformulate it and start again. "If successful, share your excitement with others, try to understand what has helped you get and make new resolutions. Remember that do not need to be new year, neither Monday nor back from vacation or anything to start your resolutions wth good intentions. " Web address: www.quironsalud.es.

EU Opens Up Floodgates For Mortgage Repayments From Spanish Banks By Andreu & Alenda Abogados- legalservice@andreualenda.com
A Ruling from the EU this week has overturned a previous ruling from the Spanish Supreme Court, which initially protected Spanish Banks from certain mortgage repayments. The ruling means that Spanish banks may have to repay Billions of Euros to Mortgage Customers, The banks involved include Banco Popular Espanol SA and BBVA (Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA) after a final ruling by the European Union’s top court. In essence, borrowers who paid too much interest on home loans pre-dating a May 2013 Spanish ruling on so-called “clausulas suelo” or 'mortgage floors' are now entitled to a refund from their banks, proclaimed judges at the EU Court of Justice in Luxembourg on Wednesday. The “clausulas suelo” or 'mortgage floors' were interest clauses, that were included in most variable home mortgages, This clause set a minimum interest rate that the client should pay, regardless of what the Euribor was valued at. Thus variable interest was calculated with the Banks adding a rate to the Euribor (the main benchmark for most mortgages in Spain), and this limitation prevented those affected from benefiting from the Euribo’s fall in value and thus a fall in their mortgage repayment rate. The EU Court of Justice said that a proposed time limit on the refunds is illegal and the Spanish Supreme Court ruing is now null and void and customers shouldn’t be bound by such unfair terms. In May 2013, the Spanish Supreme Court considered these clauses abusive, on the understanding that consumers had not been informed of the economic and legal burden imposed on them. This ruling limited the
maximum retroactivity so that its nullity only had future effects, so consumers would not be repaid what was previously paid due to this clause up to that date. This term of limitation has now been overturned. Since that judgment from the Spanish Supreme Court, clents started asking the banks to reimburse them the sums paid for the excess interest resulting from the application of the floor clauses after May 9, 2013. An appeal was filed before the Court of Justice of the European Union to rule on whether or not such a limitation of compensation infringes European consumer protection rules. The Court of Justice interprets EU law to make sure it is applied in the same way in all EU countries, and settles legal disputes between national governments and EU institutions. There was a preliminary ruling giving reason to the financial entities, and this discourage all consumers as judgements usually respect this preliminary reasoning although it is not binding. The Court of Justice of the European Union has ruled on Wednesday, that financial institutions should now reimburse any consumers affected by the clauses with the full amount that has been overcharged since the beginning of each mortgage contract, and not only from May 9, 2013, as determined by the Supreme Court. From when can the sentence be applied? It has immediate effect. Who can claim against the bank? Any client who has not yet claimed, either before their financial institution or before the
courts, may demand the refund of the amounts even if your mortgage has already being paid, as long as it was not more than four years ago. Will the banks refund me if I do not make a claim? No, the banks will only refund you if a petition is filed. They will study petitions, case by case, to verify whether the client has accepted the formal conditions of the mortgage and the good faith rules haven’t been broken. They will try to avoid payments. These petitions can be filed before your financial entity or in court. Is the refunded amount subject to taxes? Part of what the bank returns to those who overpaid for “ land clauses” as a result of the ruling of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) should go directly to the Inland Revenue. This point affects those who have a habitual residence acquired before 2013 and, therefore, deduct the principal sum and interest of the mortgage destined to pay it, in their yearly tax forms. Upon receipt of the refund, it will be found that in the corresponding years they benefited from a deduction higher than that which they were entitled to. We recommend you to contact your tax adviser to deal with this matter as all the previous tax forms from the last four years, will need to be modified. Andreu & Alenda Lawyers has been taking actions against the banks since May 2013. If you are in this situation and you think you deserve to be compensated, do not hesitate to contact us at: C/. Tips for creating a multi-purpose home office space Many of us feel that working from home would be a dream job, and more than one-third are already living that dream; 37 percent of U.S. workers telecommute, according to Gallup. However, unless you're a full-time telecommuter or an entrepreneur running a business from your home, it may be hard to justify dedicating an entire room in your house for home office space. Today's home offices must be able to multi-task as efficiently and
effectively as the people who work in them - and that's something you should keep in mind when making renovation plans. "We see fewer and fewer buyers requiring a dedicated home office when setting their search criteria for buying a new home," writes Gwen Daubenmeyer, a real estate professional who recently blogged about home offices on the Integrity Real Estate Team blog. Daubenmeyer notes that laptops, cloud storage and online filing services have made it possible to work from virtually any room in the
house, so it's no longer necessary to have a room dedicated solely as office space. Instead of turning that spare bedroom into a space strictly used for work, why not consider improvements that will help the room multi-task? With a few smart upgrades, spaces such as attics, basements, spare bedrooms and other smaller areas can serve as multi-functional spaces for work, play, working out and socializing. Tips for multi-tasking offices Good lighting is essential for any home office, but if you want to avoid the institutional look of traditional office lights, consider increasing the amount of natural light that enters your multi-purpose office space. Adding Energy Star-qualified, solarpowered, fresh-air skylights, like those from Velux America, is a costeffective way to bring natural light, as well as passive ventilation, into any home office space. Solar-powered blinds in designer colours and patterns enhance the blended decor of a multi-use room, while allowing you to control the amount of light entering the room with a programmable touchpad remote control. Roof windows, which are very similar to skylights but are in-reach and operated by hand, are another popular option, especially in attics. For home offices without direct roof access, a Sun Tunnel tubular skylight with an optional light kit can provide light 24/7. Visit www.whyskylights.com to learn more. Divide the room visually to define functional areas. You can do this in several ways, including using a folding screen to partition off the room's work area, or hanging curtains to conceal lesser-used sections of the
room when they're not in use. You can also use the room's layout to create a natural flow. For example, tuck a desk and shelving into an attic dormer area as office space. Many home offices need to double as a guest bedroom. If working beside an inviting bed all day makes it difficult to resist the temptation of a nap, consider alternative bed styles. A daybed can be dressed up with pillows to serve as a sofa where you can comfortably read reports. Or, completely hide the sleeping area by adding a Murphy bed to available wall space. Make it easy to rearrange furnishings in the room by putting your desk on coasters just like your office chair. Whenever you need the room to function as a workout space, home theatre or social centre, just roll the office furniture out of the way. If you're turning a bedroom into a multi-purpose office, no one should need the closet for hanging clothes. Instead, convert the closet into a cozy spot for a workspace. You can place a small desk inside, or hang wide shelving that can function as a workspace for your laptop, printer and files. When you're not working, simply close the closet doors! Whenever a room has to serve more than one purpose, organization is critical. If you don't have the space for filing cabinets, or simply don't like the way they look, bookcases and shelving can be a great alternative. Don't overlook the possibilities presented by extra wall space; you can layer shelves to maximize storage space above your desk/work area. Daubenmeyer says that following the housing bubble, homeowners are smarter and want more functional space. The multifunction home office is one solution that is gaining popularity.

Tips to Throw Better Movie Nights at Home By StatePoint This Christmas a few of us ma have invested in a new Telly. And with the advent of Android Boxes and VOD (Video On Demand), you'll no doubt want to see it work in all its glory. Whether it’s family movie night and you’re watching an old classic, or you’re hosting a big crowd to screen the latest blockbuster, you can take steps to make the viewing experience feel more like the theatre, from upgrading your technology to improving your hosting game. Here are some cool ideas to help movie lovers better enjoy their favourite flicks at home. Thematic Snacks When it comes to food and drink, treat guests to all their theatre favourites. Candy bars, soda and popcorn are great standards, and these days, many theatres also offer beer, wine, cocktails and elevated fare. You can also take it one step further by tailoring your menu to the theme of the movie. Think about the setting, the characters and the plot
for inspiration. But remember, foods that are easy to eat in the dark and don’t make a lot of racket work best. Upgrade Your Tech Flat screen TVs are great, but for the real theatre feel, consider a high-quality projector designed for home use. Look for one that’s low maintenance, easy to turn on and off, and comes with HDMI terminals as well as a USB power supply. Since you may not have the option of a windowless room or blackout curtains in your home, seek out a projector that senses ambient light in the room and automatically adjusts its brightness accordingly. For example, the XJF210WN LampFree Projector from Casio’s Advanced Series line features Intelligent Light Control that does just that, so viewers can enjoy optimal visuals any time of day and in any lighting conditions.
Why Switching to LED Bulbs Makes a Difference
It may seem like a small detail, but the way you light your home can have a big impact on the environment and your energy bills. Indeed, widespread use of lightemitting diode (LED) lighting has the greatest potential impact on energy savings, according to US government . Using at least 75 percent less energy and lasting 25 times longer than incandescent lighting, residential LEDs, especially ENERGY STAR-rated products, can help you significantly reduce the cost of lighting your home. And this is truer than ever, as the price of this technology has declined and the uses for it have expanded. Even LED decorative holiday lighting can be purchased these days, giving consumers more opportunities to light their homes and lives efficiently. Community efforts are helping to make sweeping change and brighten
lives. For example, the Environmental Protection Agency’s “Change the World Tour,” is a national program designed to motivate consumers to purchase ENERGY STAR-certified LED bulbs that bring energy-efficient lighting to communities in need. With these kinds of efforts taking place nationwide, LED adoption in local communities is expected to continue to rise. To learn more about the campaign, visit provia.com/change. Swapping out traditional bulbs for energy-efficient alternatives is a simple home project that requires no special skills or tools, just a commitment to lowering one’s carbon footprint. Take an afternoon to make this simple swap that promises to have a long-lasting and major impact. Actions taken by individuals may feel small, but on a collective scale, greening your home means greening your community and the larger world.
This model also comes equipped with 20,000-hour estimated operating life and reaches full brightness in as fast as five seconds. Its combination of laser and LED light source is a great high-brightness, mercury-free option. More information can be found at CasioLampFree.com. Costume Party Whether you’re watching a dramatic period piece or enjoying a sci-fi action flick, add a touch of excitement to your party by encouraging guests to wear costumes. This will help get everyone pumped up for the movie well in advance of the screening. As host you may even want to include a trivia round afterwards and offer prizes to winners. With a few tech upgrades and hosting tips, movie night just got even more fun.

The rain in Spain, the law, new year resolution By David Hudson
Spanish traffic laws would help in preventing being involved in an unnecessary accident. For residents a change in the 2014 traffic law means you cannot own a foreign registered vehicle. With Brexit looming this might be a problem if you still have a foreign registered (classic) vehicle. Following the closing of the centre of Madrid to vehicles and reducing the max speed to 70kph a new rule prohibits vehicles over 3,500 kilos access to various districts of Madrid. For too long, excessive sized lorries been given free access to everywhere. Other Spanish cities are following Madrid's example, so watch this space.
Wow! Did you remember to put your wellies inside the car at the last drop of rain? Just going around the back of my house the water nearly came up to the top of my wellies. This happened in 30 minutes when the Seguro river burst. I saw on Spansh Television a driver who was caught in a sudden flash flood. Realising that he could be trapped inside the car he managed to open the door. Hanging on to the car with the water up to his knees he tried to get around the car to safety. Suddenly he lost his footing and was swept away. The problem when it rains in Spain it is the speed that the water rises that catch everyone out. This is because the soil has become compacted with the hot sun that stops the rain penetrating and with the vacas (lazy) farmers who leave rubbish and canes accumulating giving the perfect means to create dams and flooding. In three days of rain there was 400l/m2 in Benearres, 137.8l/m2 in Orihuela and 122.4l/m2 in Rojales. There was caos in Orihuela with the barrios of Las Norias, Mariano Cases and Molino being cut off. Almoradi, Benejuzar, San Javier and Alcazares were devastated. You should make a note on your frigde of the safe areas around your neighbourhood. Remember that if you have left your car in an underground car park, do not try to get your car out because you could get trapped and drowned or suffocated by the silt – flood water is not clean – leave it to your insurance company. Seeing the cars being winched out of garages and car parks there was mud inside to the windows. The speed the water rises from the first drop of rain to a metre of water can be less than 30 minutes. If out in the open get to the high ground and wait. Don't think that only foreigners are caught out. I was talking to my Spanish neighbours who said that
they have never experienced anything like it before. It was then that I realised that they were under 30 years old because in 1987 we had the same type of rain fall where houses and roads were swept away and people died. The whole road system today was constructed from then. Already the Valencia Government are talking about improvements to cope with flooding so expect lots of road works and the Torrevieja bypass shelved. Deaths on the road This year I have been returning to a worrying trend of increased traffic deaths and today a report confirms
my conclusion. This year 117 people have died on the Alicante and Valencia roads. 21 more than this time last year. It is the biggest increase for two decades. This year Valencia Provence has the worst traffic results in Spain. In 2005 there were 358 killed on the roads which shows what can happen if this trend is allowed to continue. This upward trend is being addressed with testing on secondary roads for driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Please remember that medicine from the chemist that says you should not drive may mean a drug failure. Not only
would you be fined but would have to get home by other means. I saw a driver being tested positive at 0.49 and then tried to phone for a lift home. They are also checking for current ITV (MOT) test, insurance and ownership. The law in Spain Finally for visitors and nonresidents, knowing the differences between UK and
Why not make your new year resolution: “think where you are going in the car and leave yourself plenty of time”. It is better to be five-minutes late than not arrive at all. To receive free information leaflets on dealing with flooding and the differences in laws and driving in Spain email: clasicos600@yahoo.co.uk requesting such. A happy new year and safe driving.

Incoming race riders Bradley Smith and Pol Espargaro confirmed KTM's suspicion that its maiden MotoGP bike needed to be better in changes of direction. Smith and Espargaro join MotoGP's newest manufacturer in 2017 from Tech3 Yamaha, after KTM spent this year testing and developing its RC16 prototype. Mika Kallio led that programme over the course of 35 days, and then raced as a wildcard in the Valencia 2016 season finale, before Smith and Espargaro rode the bike for the first time in the post-race test. One week later in November, Smith tested again at Jerez alongside Kallio, and Espargaro's crew chief Paul Trevathan says the experience of the race riders matched KTM's own assessments. He said he thinks we have shown now that we have a certain pace In his opinion we have a very balanced package with the RC16 and a good thing is that all three riders we have are pinpointing the same thing that we're missing. It is something they suspected earlier but have wondered if the new guys would think the
same. It has not stopped development but they did hold back a little bit until the new guys tried the bike and we could be sure we were going in the right direction. At 165cm, Kallio is 15cm shorter than Smith and 8cm shorter than Espargaro and lighter than both, and KTM felt waiting for its recruits to assess "the natural turning of the bike" was worthwhile. Chaotic 2016 MotoGP season means 2017 rookies 'can dream' - Zarco
Double Moto2 champion Johann Zarco believes the unpredictable 2016 MotoGP season means next year's rookies can "dream" about big results. Zarco is one of four rookies stepping up to the premier class in 2017, joined at Tech3 Yamaha by fellow Moto2 race winner Jonas Folger, while Alex Rins and Sam Lowes join Suzuki and Aprilia respectively. MotoGP was dominated by the factory Yamaha and Honda outfits between 2011 and '15, but nine different riders won races last season, including satellite pair Cal Crutchlow and Jack Miller. Asked when he would next be able to perform his celebratory back flip after winning a race, Zarco said: "Nice question and I don't know.

Citroën Racing is getting ready for its big comeback to the FIA World Rally Championship, bringing with it a new challenge and adventure for a race team with renowned expertise The world will get an exclusive first-look at the C3 WRC concept car at this year’s Paris Motor Show. Designed by the Citroën style centre in partnership with Citroën Racing, the concept car offers an extreme vision of the C3, muscular and chiselled, with striking visual design inkeeping with the concept for the all-new FIA World Rally Championship regulations. The concept car heralds the arrival of the race car that will compete for the first time at Rallye Monte-Carlo in January 2017. Very close to the finalised car, the C3 WRC concept car hints at the intentions of the Citroën style centre without giving everything away about its final form. The exterior also stands out with a chassis 55mm larger than the New Citroën C3, affording greater aerodynamic freedom such as a spoiler for the front bumper. While the final version that will compete in the championship will be fully compliant with FIA WRC regulations, the C3 WRC concept car is already almost there: indeed, its width has
been designed with these new regulations in mind, as have the front and rear aerodynamic adornments. Our visitors will be Elche Sporting who like Montesinos play in Second Regional in Group 15. League Matches: To confirm: we will play Caliche on Wednesday, 11th January, at 21.15. This match is away. The next League match is on the 15th not the 5th against Benijofar time to be advised. The work continues at the Campo municipal in Los Montesinos, otherwise known as “The Cauldron”. The town council recently announced that work was due to start updating the facilities at the football ground including both changing rooms, the pic-nick area just to the right as you enter the ground, the toilet block, create wheel chair access to all areas of the ground (including the stand area) and put a new roof on one of the storage rooms (which has been without a roof and therefore un-useable for years). But what will get most of us supporters excited in the building of a complete new stand at the ground. The new stand will be sited behind the dug outs and will have four tiers of seating. An area 40 meters wide has been cleared in that space and is in the process of being adapted to fit the stand. Work is expected to continue for some time to get everything in place but improvements are being made at long last to our ground.
