NON-RESIDENT TAX DECLARATIONS DEADLINE APPROACHES DECEMBER 31ST The deadline for the non-resident tax declarations is set on December 31st. Many expats asks us if they have to do this formal tax declarations. The answer is simple, YES, YOU MUST. You are considered a resident before the Spanish Inland Revenue, if you live in Spain for more than 183 days per year. Under that period you can be considered as non-resident.

All people living in Spain are subject to taxes, residents and non-residents. December 31st is the time limit to present the annual imputed income tax and rental tax, if you are renting out your property, and it refers to the previous year (2015). Even if you only own a property in Spain, you must fill in the form. Not complying with your fiscal and taxation

obligations, or you file it late, might make you incur a penalty or might affect your property if you want to sell it. In addition to the above you will be required to pay tax geared penalties and interest on any outstanding tax payments. If you are in any doubt, or would like to have a better understanding of your fiscal situation in Spain, we can help. Please send us an email to: legalservice@andreualenda.com
