Wed 16 | Philippine Cultures and

Transnationalism

Philippine cultures are dynamic and evolving with the fusion of historical and contemporary adaptations to economic and political challenges situated in transnational contexts. Glenda Bonifacio will present on Philippine cultures utilizing research done in Australia and Canada about Filipino migration, gender and community integration. Glenda Tibe Bonifacio is a professor and chair of the Department of Women and Gender Studies at the University of Lethbridge. She is a Filipino transnational scholar with research on gender, migration and post-disaster communities.

Thu 24 | Lethbridge: A History in Pictures Join Lethbridge Historical Society authors, George Kuhl, Lorien Johansen, Bobbie Fox and Belinda Crowson as they discuss the Society’s latest book Lethbridge: A History in Pictures (available for purchase on the Galt’s website) which features many historic images from the Galt’s own archives.

Thu 17 | Bead and Chill Enjoy a short tour of the special exhibit Breathe. (2nd Wave), and then sit down, sip some tea, have a chat, and learn to bead a key chain with Blackfoot artist Serene Weasel Traveller. No beading talent required!

Take a closer look at one of Alberta’s most famous cowboys in a special Black History Month screening of John Ware Reclaimed. Film director and award-winning author, screenwriter and playwright Cheryl Foggo will introduce her work and host a Q&A session after the screening.
