Piero De Martin opera a Codroipo e a Udine, dove è docente di “ Design del gioiello” presso il Liceo Artistico “ G.Sello.” Nell’ottica di interdisciplinarietà dell’arte, si occupa tanto di oreficeria quanto di scultura e pittura. Ha al suo attivo numerose esposizioni nazionali e internazionali; tra le più significative quelle di Dubai, Miami, Istanbul, Parigi, San Pietroburgo e Stoccarda. Ogni anno una sua scultura costituisce il prestigioso “Premio Hemingway”, che viene assegnato dalla Città di Lignano Sabbiadoro a un personaggio illustre. Nel 2005 è stato premiato dalla Camera di Commercio di Udine con una medaglia d’oro al Teatro “Giovanni da Udine”. Le sue opere si trovano in importanti musei, tra cui il Museo di Efeso (in Turchia) ha un suo gioiello scultoreo.

Piero De Martin works in both Codroipo and Udine, where he teaches “Jewellery Design” at the “G. Sello” Secondary School specialising in Artistic subjects. In terms of the interdisciplinary of art, he focuses just as much on goldsmithery as he does sculpture and painting. He has already participated in several national and international exhibitions; the most important of which include those held in Dubai, Miami, Istanbul, Paris, St. Petersburg and Stuttgart. Every year one of his precious sculptures features as the prestigious Hemingway Prize that is awarded by the City of Lignano Sabbiadoro to a celebrity. In 2005, a gold medal was awarded to the “Giovanni da Udine” Theatre by the local Chamber of Commerce. His works can be found in important museums, including the Museum of Ephesus (in Turkey) which hosts sculptural jewellery by Piero De Martin.

L’opera vuol esprimere tutta la forza visionaria della ricerca di Leonardo. Per la figura, volutamente ermetica nelle sue articolazioni e misteriosa nelle sue fattezze, ho usato una lega d’argento patinato oro e smalti per sottolineare la peculiare capacità del “Genio” da Vinci nell’invenzione di ritmi musicali e nell’organizzazione plastica dei volumi, con interventi policromatici. Con questo “gioiello scultoreo” ho voluto evidenziare il tratto della curiosità, la ricchezza delle proposte e l’ampiezza sperimentale del grande “genio” dell’arte e della cultura rinascimentale.

This work intends to express all the visionary intensity put into Leonardo’s research. With regards to the figure, the joints of which have been deliberately and hermetically sealed and its features have a mysterious appearance, I used a gold patinated silver alloy and enamels to highlight the unique ability of da Vinci’s “Genius” to invent musical rhythms and in the plastic organisation of volumes, with polychromatic interventions. By means of this “sculptural jewellery” I aimed to highlight the characteristic of curiosity, the wealth of the proposals as well as the experimental amplitude of the great “genius” of art and Renaissance culture.
