“I just want the green parts to stay green.” These are the words of one of Leicester’s residents, representative of the community. The people of Leicester love their fields and forests, and have a strong desire to see their traditional, rural way of life continue into the future. The town faces strong development pressure from the metropolitan seaboard, and struggles to make do with a budget that has been cut and cut again over recent years. This update to the town’s Open Space and Recreation Plan focuses on new strategies for conservation and public land management in the “new normal” of today’s changed economic climate.
