Create A New You! By Dr. Kathleen Oden

WOW! And that is all I have to say about 2020! So, let’s create a new you for 2021! Some of us have been eating comfort food since May. So, put down the fork, back away from the plate, and start using social distancing with your fridge! It is time to reset our mindset, create a new body, and rejuvenate our spirit! Why should we create a new us? We need it; we want it, and we have to have it! But it is going to take commitment, dedication, and perseverance. How do you want to feel? How do you want to look? How do you want to live? It all starts with creating a new you! Everything has a natural side and a spiritual side. YOU CAN DO IT! How you feel starts with resetting your mindset. There was a time in my life when being negative ruled. At times, it is still a battle. It was a complete surprise to me that, “we have a choice.” We can wake up with a good attitude or a bad attitude, happy, sad, or mad. But the truth is, we all have a choice. We all have the God-given ability to choose how we want to feel and think. If we are in pain, upset, disgusted, or whatever, we still can choose how we want to feel. We just need to make a “righteous” decision. Here is some food for thought—add these brain foods to your diet (avocados, bananas, walnuts, and blueberries).

“And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” (Ephesians 4:23-24 KJV) How you look starts with creating a new body. Because of a fall in 2014, some of my motor skills were impaired. Our body has millions of cells that die every day, and millions of new cells are created every day. WOW! That means that we can create a new body by eating healthy. My memory was also impaired, so this was extremely exciting for me. When we eat healthily, the body creates new healthy cells. But when we eat unhealthily, the body duplicates the old bad cells that are weak and damaged. The Lord and healthy eating keep my 69-year-old body looking good and working well! My secret fountain of youth is coconut oil. We need to keep a jar in the kitchen to replace butter and cooking oil. And one in your bathroom to use after a bath or shower. Plus one in your bedroom for your face cream. “Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? (1 Corinthians 6:19 NLT)
