More Water for Agric Operating in Mexico for more than 18 years, Odebrecht Latin America and Angola earned its first individual contract in the country for the Michoacán State Government. The Michoacán Hydro-Agricultural Project (PHM) resulted from the need for solutions for the scarcity of water in the state’s agricultural region, aiming to integrate Human, Productive, Environmental and Social capitals through the storage and controlled distribution of water resources. Through a partnership with Universidad Nacional Autônoma de México (UNAM), the company also developed an environmental management program with an emphasis on local animal and plant species. Consisting of a dam with the capacity to store 100 million cubic meters of water and a gravity-powered channel system, the project will irrigate 13,000 hec-

The First Sustainable Devel On March 1, Odebrecht Realizações Imobiliárias (OR) delivered its first corporate building in Alphaville, São Paulo, called the I-Tower. An exclusive cocktail party headed by Chef Marcelo Sampaio and to the sounds of Adriano Grineberg was served to more than 200 people, including clients, authorities from Barueri, investors and partners. During the event, the guests had the opportunity to take a guided tour of one of the development’s rooftops and see the installations and privileged view of São Paulo and Alphaville. With a General Sales Value (GSV) of approximately R$ 300 million, the I-Tower is a multiuse complex that joins the tower and 26 floors with the future Shopping Iguatemi Alphaville. “It is a development that

FOUND OUT WHY THE I-TOWER IS A “TRIPLE A” PROJECT It uses imported high performance windows that provide excellent thermal-acoustic comfort and help reduce energy consumption; It uses an automatic frame opening system that uses internal and external temperature sensors and wind speed measurement equipment to identify the presence of rain and the best weather condition for performing the “nightly cooling” of the units. This system cools the unit, eliminating the need to use the air conditioner the next morning, and consequently, saving energy; It has a VRF air conditioning system, which with high performance and low energy consumption, offers benefits such as the possibility of each unit turning on and off automatically and controlling the temperature by zones (every 70 m²) through software; and It is the only development in the region that has elevators with a call anticipation system and regenerative system that generates the energy used for its very operation. This system uses cuttingedge technology that allows users to interact with the elevator interface, indicating their desired destination. ABOUT COOPRAP Created in 2005 to drive the development of the quilombola communities of the Southern Lowlands, promoting quality of life with sustainability, COOPRAP has 105 members. The cooperative installed a broom factory, called “Citizen Industry,” and reintroduced coconut, straw and piassaba fiberbased handicrafts into the region. The cooperative members produce different articles, including baskets, mandalas, purses, trays, buckets and lamps, among others. Currently, the products are sold to the Tok&Stok, Bonanza and Arco-íris chain of stores (handicrafts), GBarbosa, Ebal and Wal-Mart (brooms) and Souza Ribeiro and WRossi (piassaba fibers). According to cooperative member Aniele Rosário, from the community of Boitaraca, located in Nilo Peçanha, Bahia, the handicraft work changed her life. “I can plan my schedule and honor my commitments,” she said. “I have my own income.” Aniele also pointed out her accomplishment at exercising
