“I

taipava Arena Pernambuco” is the name of the new soccer and entertainment space that will also host the Confederations Cup and 2014 World Cup. The week of May 20 was marked by pure joy for the Brazilian arena, built by Odebrecht Infrastructure in São Lourenço da Mata, the metropolitan region of Recife. Odebrecht News followed the events that marked the start of the arena’s operations. Learn more!

NAMING RIGHTS On May 20 in the morning, the Petrópolis Group confirmed the sponsorship of the Pernambuco Arena and announced the new name: Itaipava Arena Pernambuco. The Naming Rights contract grants the group the right to sell some of its products, such as the alcohol-free Itaipava beer and the TNT Energy Drink, on an exclusive basis inside the arena, and also allows it to promote marketing actions and event production at the site. Participating in the meeting were Sinval Andrade, President and CEO of

the Itaipava Arena Pernambuco; André Sá, Marketing Director for the arena; Douglas Costa, Market Director for the Petrópolis Group; and Evaldo Costa, Pernambuco State Press Secretary. Sinval Andrade and André Sá are Members of Odebrecht Properties, which is responsible for administering the arena for a 30-year period. André Sá emphasized that soccer will be just one of the events: “The idea is to diversify the operations and make Itaipava Arena Pernambuco a reference in entertainment,” said Sá. With this in mind, the entire project

was developed geared toward the multi-use profile, with ample outdoor areas and the option to remove or protect the grass field, for example. During the week preceding the events, strong rain fell in Recife and proved the effectiveness of the arena’s drainage system: the grass resisted and there were no puddles found on the field. With 97% of the construction work completed, the stadium delivery eight months ahead of time is a motive for celebration. “The challenge was overcome with a great deal of merit owed to Odebrecht,” said Evaldo Costa.

TEAMS OUT ON THE FIELD FOR THE FIRST TEST EVENT

Approximately 7,500 people participated in the first test event at the Itaipava Arena Pernambuco, with the presence of Dilma Rousseff

8

The afternoon of May 20 was marked by a joyful atmosphere at the first test event organized for the construction workers and their families. The President of the Brazilian Republic, Dilma Rousseff, got out on the field to give the initial kickoff, together with Brazilian Minister of Sports Aldo Rebelo, and Pernambuco Governor, Eduardo Campos. “We demonstrated yet again that we are capable to delivering another high quality stadium,” said Dilma Rousseff. “With this feat, we have

completed the first cycle of stadiums for the World Cup,” she said. With the conclusion of the construction work for the Itaipava Arena Pernambuco, the six stadiums for the Confederations Cup have been opened and delivered to FIFA. Ball out on the field! The game between workers began with the excitement of the fans and the Red and Blue teams, consisting of up to two Members from each area. Carlos Eduardo Ferreira, the nephew of a worker, stated that he was “very happy” to be a part of this moment: “I’m a soccer fan and I’ll be able to say that

I participated in the opening of the arena.” The 40-minute game ended with a score of zero for the Red team, with the goal made during the second half by José Carlos Santana, General Service Supervisor. “I’ll keep this moment with me for the rest of history,” said Santana. I participated in this project and am happy to have my name listed twice at the stadium,” he said, clearly

of its total capacity full. This time, fans watched an international friendly match between the Pernambuco soccer club Náutico Capibaribe, and Sporting Lisboa, a team from Portugal, for the second test event before the Confederations Cup. In the presence of approximately 27,000 people, the players disputed a game with some great shots at the goal and which

touched. In order to deliver the stadium ahead of time and allow it to be one of the hosts of the Confederations Cup, the Itaipava Arena Pernambuco involved up to 5,000 workers at one point. Electrician Severino Zacaria da Silva stated that the project offered several work opportunities for the community. “I am very thankful to Odebrecht, since I learned many things and I became a professional,” explained the Member, who has been at the project for two years. For Silva, the initiative of promoting the first test event for workers was “really good” and gave the family members a chance to see the construction work completed by each one of the Members: “My family is proud that I participated in the construction of the arena.”

hardly seemed like a friendly match. The crowd roared with each pass of the ball and made the game all the more exciting with their ‘olas’ and ‘war cries.’ Result from the game: one for Sporting, with a goal during the first half, and one for Náutico, from a penalty kick during the second half. The results from the first event open to the public range from “this is beautiful,” “I tip my hat to the Pernambuco people” to “I feel like I’m at a Champions League game.” On the Itaipava Arena Pernambuco Facebook page, fan Thiago Agrício reported what he felt: “Beautiful stadium! Those who like soccer cannot help, upon entering the arena for the first time, getting goose bumps with all of that beauty! Congratulations to everyone! The future is here!” The event was designed to test the arena’s infrastructure and the services of the 2014 FIFA Brazil World Cup Organizing Committee (COL), such as the mobility and security plan.

NEXT STEPS The Pernambuco Arena was officially delivered to FIFA, which is already preparing the site for the three Confederations Cup games in June (Spain vs. Uruguay on June 16; Italy vs. Japan on June 19; and Uruguay vs. Tahiti on June 23). The stadium will also host five matches during the 2014 World Cup, and will begin hosting the games of the soccer team Náutico starting in July. The development is located 19 kilometers from the Recife “Zero Mark” and was considered the point of departure for the development of the metropolitan region’s West Zone. For André Sá, the arena’s location facilitates the holding of cultural events. Together with Itaipava Arena Fonte Nova, in Bahia, the idea is to form a Northeastern axis

10

for hosting events, including international ones. “Starting from the moment in which we have yet another large arena in the same region of the country, we improve the conditions for bringing major events to the Northeast,” explained Sá. One of the main legacies of the 2014 World Cup, the Pernambuco Arena was built based on sustainability concepts, such as the efficient use of natural ventilation and lighting, curbside garbage collection systems, the reuse of rainwater and the use of devices that save water, allowing for a reduction of approximately 35% in consumption. Additionally, a solar power plant, developed by Odebrecht Energia, will be installed with the capacity of 1MWp of installed power, equivalent to the average consumption of 6,000 people.

“Starting from the moment in which we have yet another large arena in the same region of the country, we improve the conditions for bringing major events to the Northeast.” André Sá The Itaipava Arena Pernambuco is now in the possession of FIFA, which will perform the final adjustments for the Confederations Cup. Starting in July, Náutico will take command of the stadium

A New Line of ‘Green’ Plastic Braskem announced the expansion of its portfolio of renewable products at the 2013 Feiplastic event, with the launch of the new line of low density “green” polyethylene (LDPE) – an additional family for the well-known “Green” Plastic. The annual production of the new resin will be approximately 30,000 tons and the product will be available for the market starting in January 2014. To facilitate production, investments were made to connect the factories with certain pieces of equipment, allowing for the production of low density polyethylene (LDPE) from renewable raw materials. The LDPE is used primarily in packaging and plastic films. Braskem has produced high density polyethylene (HDPE) of a renewable origin and low linear density polyethylene (LDPE) on an industrial scale since September 2010. The expansion of the line of “green” products contributes toward the sustainable development of the

productive chain and helps reduce greenhouse gases. According to Luciano Guidolin, Executive Vice President of the Polyolefines, COMPERJ and Renewable Source Unit, Braskem constantly monitors the market and seeks out solutions for its clients. “We understand that low density ‘green’ polyethylene will supply an underlying need for materials of a renewable origin by allowing for other applications besides those available with the current portfolio of ‘Green’ Plastic,” said Guidolin. “With this production capacity, we will be ready to meet part of the global demand for resin,” he emphasized.

Tests for Energy Transmission In April, Odebrecht Infrastructure completed the commissioning trials at the Santo Antônio Hydroelectric Power Plant Energy Transmission System in Rondônia. The processes were completed until the fourth generation island (each island groups together four Generator Units connected to an Elevator Transformer) at Generation Group 2 (GG2), located along the left bank of the Madeira River. This guaranteed the conditions to transfer the energy generated at the plant, which is already operating at 25% of its capacity – 840 megawatts of installed power. The Transmission System is responsible for conducting the electric energy produced by the Generator Units to the Collection and Temporary substations, which currently distribute the energy to

Rondônia and Acre, and in the future, to other Brazilian states. At the Santo Antônio HPP, the system consists of a GIS (SF6 Gas Isolated Substation), Elevator Transformers, Transmission Lines and the Collection Substation. The commissioning trials include a series of tests and verifications before delivery for operation – performed using specific high technology equipment. The goal is to guarantee the performance and operationality of the equipment, covering the technical specifications, validation of the manufacturing stages and assembly. “Commissioning is challenging work, but we have achieved excellent results,” explained Thalles Janones da Silva, Commissioning Coordinator. “We are completing simultaneous activities at Units 13 and 14,” he said.

“The Santo Antônio HPP is serving as a school for the professionals in search of development and training in the energy sector,” said Thalles Janones da Silva

Concrete from Ilha Pura On May 21, Ilha Pura – the company formed by Odebrecht Realizações Imobiliárias and Carvalho Hosken – reached the 100,000 m³ mark for concrete laid in the construction of the planned neighborhood, also called Ilha Pura, located in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro. Of this volume, 60% was produced on-site and 100% follows the quality and safety policy. During the process, no serious accidents

Of the total volume necessary, Ilha Pura will produce 90% of concrete at its own construction site, allowing for a reduction in traffic along the surrounding streets. “If all of the material were to be transported to the nearest industry, 37,500 truck trips would be necessary,” explained Maurício Cruz. The initiative presents extensive environmental benefits. It is calculated that the

A visit to the tunnel On May 20, in Peru, the Regional President of Ancash, César Álvarez, visited the construction work for the Carhuaz - Chacas - San Luis Highway, currently being completed by the Carhuaz-San Luis Consortium – of which Odebrecht Infrastructure is Member. Accompanied by local authorities, Members of Odebrecht in Peru and the regional press, César Álvarez began the visit in the Province of Carhuaz, heading toward Callejón de Huaylas, and crossed the transAndean tunnel that extends 1,384 meters long until arriving in Callejón de Los Conchucos. “For the first time, the vehicles went through the tunnel, crossing the Branca Mountain Range,” pointed out Álvarez. According to him, the new road will help improve the quality of life of the provinces’ residents, who will be connected by 100 kilometers of new paved roads – helping to reduce the travel time between regions. “Before, going from Carhuaz to Chacas took from eight to nine hours,” said Álvarez. “Now, along the highway and through the Punta Olímpica Tunnel, it is possible to make the trip in less than three hours,” he said. The Carhuaz - Chacas - San Luis Highway is a project financed by the Ancash Regional Government, with investments of 450 million soles and an execution period of three and a half years. The construction work generated more than 2,000 direct job opportunities. It is estimated that the work will be completed in August of this year.

I

n March, the Odebrecht Infrastructure Muelle Minerales contract in Peru promoted an action with Members and their families to build a panel with the Organization’s logo at the construction site entrance. The initiative developed the concept “Odebrecht, building the future.” The event began at the construction site, located at the Callao Naval Base, with the participation of 37 children who

were excited to see their parents’ place of work. The group listened to a brief presentation of the project and learned about the history of Muelle Minerales. The children then received aprons and sleeve protectors and were invited to take part in some surprise work. Located in Zango VI, CESA was built by Odebrecht Infrastructure and has already trained more than 460 people in a range of different courses

In a region with a low Human Development Index (HDI), one of CESA’s focuses is on promoting entrepreneurship. In partnership with the Unified Entrepreneurs’ Counter (BUE), 115 people were trained in the area of Economy and Entrepreneurship and 110 participated in the lecture on Microcredit. Besides this, the first Entrepreneurs’ Meeting gathered 400 participants. The idea is to strengthen and encourage the community to adopt actions focused on individual and group micro entrepreneurship, promoting the creation of commercial activities. “We believe that it is important to encourage the formation of cooperatives and multiply the culture of

Sustainability,” explained Poti Malaquias, responsible for the Social Program at PRP. According to Malaquias, when the team identifies potential groups of entrepreneurs in the CESA courses, it supplies all of the initial support. For 2013, CESA is offering courses in the areas of IT, Decoration, Literacy, Pastry Making, Cooking, English, Secretary Work Accounting and Teaching. There are currently six groups studying Literacy and two groups studying IT, in addition to 419 people in the Ethical and Humanistic Training course and 100 children and adolescents in the capoeira classes. The first Bakery course group is already completing practical

activities at the CESA industrial kitchen. Approximately 300 “mother’s breads” (bread made from milk, eggs and covered with shredded coconut) are produced each day by the 21 students under the guidance of instructors. According to Poti Malaquias, baked goods will be an important source of income for the center, since everything that is produced will be sold: “With quality, a fair price and a more nutritious recipe, we are certain that the breads will be well received in the market,” said Malaquias.

A soap factory was also installed at CESA. The production has already reached 4,000 liters per month and is being sold in its entirety. “It is gratifying to know that the courses offered have been beneficial,” emphasized Maurizio Bastianelli, PRP Contract Director. “We hope that these actions continue to expand increasingly more and train people for the job market,” he said.

RELIGION, HEALTH AND CITIZENSHIP CESA is also a point of reference for religious, health and citizenship actions. The scouting activities, for example, involve the participation of 142 children and adolescents and 480 youth have developed a range of different religious activities. For the progress of Bahia communities The construction of a shipyard along the banks of the Paraguaçu River is changing the lives of the members of Bahia communities. “The State Government’s recommendation is to promote the sustainable development of the cities located near the Estaleiro Enseada do Paraguaçu, promoting progress in the region,” said Carlos Costa, Secretary of SEINP – the Special Department of the Naval and Port Industry. With this in mind, the Bahia Government – working in partnership with EEP – held two editions of the Naval Citizen Action program in May, offering free access to work, health and citizenship services and benefitting 500 residents from Salinas da Margarida and 1,500 from Maragojipe. Humberto Rangel, Institutional

Relations Director at EEP, emphasized the importance of these actions: “The project currently has 1,400 Members,” he said. “With estimated conclusion during the second half of 2014, the development should generate some 8,000 job opportunities,” he said. In Maragojipe, shellfish farmer Antônia Moreira, age 38, and student Amanda Conceição, age 15, took advantage of the services. Moreira signed up for the hardware assembler course: “After completing the course, I have no doubts that I will improve my life,” she said. Conceição received free dental and gynecological appointments. “I was able to do a dental restoration, since I had not gone to the dentist for many years,” she said. “The services offered are very good,” said the youth.

In addition to Education Route, the Valinhos City Government established a partnership to implement the digital inclusion program Hit the Net: six classrooms will be installed

Education Route in Valinhos The Rota das Bandeiras Concessionaire – responsible for the highways that form the Dom Pedro Corridor in rural São Paulo – and the municipality of Valinhos established a partnership to implement the Education Route program at the city’s municipal schools, designed to assist 1 st to 5 th grade children. It is the first time that a municipality has taken the initiative to its entire teaching network. “We want to be a reference on the topic and hope to soon become one of the best educated cities in the area of traffic,” said Secretary of Education, Danilo Sorroce. “That is why the Rota das Bandeiras program is perfect and crucial,” he said. Created by the concessionaire’s Social Responsibility sector, Education Route was implemented during the second half of last year in seven of the 17 municipalities of the Dom Pedro Corridor. For 2013, three more cities will join the program. “The idea is to disseminate our

content throughout the entire region,” said Adherbal Vieira da Silva, Social Responsibility Manager. The program consists of mapping the deficiencies and needs of each school and community each year through a survey. In the first edition, held in 2012, 843 students from 22 different schools were heard. “There are cities without traffic lights, for example,” said educator Roberta Mantovani, responsible for the project. “We have to incorporate these elements into youths’ routine so that they can become responsible citizens and orient their parents,” she reinforced. After the mapping, the professors are trained and the instructional material is distributed. Starting with the fourth year, with 7,800 students assisted and 39,000 diagnosis studies completed, Rota das Bandeiras hopes that the program can be developed by the municipal administrators.

The new identity is present on everything from business cards to the signs found in the offices and at the construction projects, including presentations, badges, uniforms and fleets. In order to orient Members on the correct application of the system at all points of contact, the Odebrecht S.A. Communication area is working in partnership with the consulting firm Interbrand to offer training in Brand Management for the Members of all the Businesses and partners whose daily activities demand the use of visual identity resources. The training, which lasts three hours, is currently taking place from June 3-6 in São Paulo. The topics addressed include the different versions of the logo, Odebrecht colors, finishes in different materials, font family, graphics, pictograms, photographs and management tools. During the meeting, Members and service provides were able to also analyze the most

frequent errors when applying the new identity. “It was an important opportunity to validate the concepts of the new brand and clarify the last doubts to move on. Now that we are aligned, let’s go ahead, strengthening the new Odebrecht brand”, says Bárbara Nitto, responsible for Communication at Odebrecht Oil & Gas. To Josiane Costa, responsible for Communication at Odebrecht Energia, the meeting was crucial to empower Members and strengthen everybody as guardians of the brand: “Having a strong brand, consolidated and single, is fundamental to our culture. The name of the Organization and the values and principles of TEO is the ‘base that never changes’, which ensures our survival, growth and perpetuity”. Each participant received a copy of the Odebrecht Color Scale, the tool developed to facilitate the identification of the tones that make up the Organization’s color palette. The material, considered an innovation in the market, helps prevent distortions when producing graphic materials. Approximately 100 people participated in the event.

There are also plans for training in Panama, set for July 15, and in Angola, set for July 31

Commitments to workplace safety On May 7 and 8, Odebrecht Infrastructure promoted the Training Seminar on Behavioral Dialogue in Nacala, Mozambique, designed to raise Members’ awareness about Workplace Safety. The event gathered the company’s main leaders in the country, together with representatives of subcontracted companies. The idea behind the Behavioral Dialogue is to help prevent workplace accidents through changes in behaviors and attitudes. The methodology consists of dialogues between Leaders and Team Members during the work routine: the Leaders observe the teams in the field and interact directly with each worker, recognizing good practices and encouraging self-analysis and reflection on Workplace Safety. Maria Ligia Dias, responsible for Workplace Safety, Health and Environment, pointed out that the initiative reinforces the leaders’ commitment to fostering positive behaviors. “Besides identifying and eliminating behaviorrelated deviations, the Leader-Team Member relationship is enriched through dialogue,” said Dias. In the carbon footprint Braskem will be the first company from the Chemical and Petrochemical sector to make the Carbon Footprint of its products public by disclosing the data on the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission of the polypropylene, polyethylene – low density, low linear density and high density – and PVC resins. The Carbon Footprint allows for an evaluation of the total GHG emissions and demonstrates the amount of carbon dioxide equivalent released during the production of a specific product or when performing some activity. For Braskem, the disclosure of this information is a way of showing the environmental impact of its main products, comparing them with others and identifying opportunities for reducing emissions. The tool will provide information for the company’s decision-making processes related to the sustainable development of the business by indicating the phases responsible for the highest GHG emissions along the chain. The data will also offer benefits for clients: they will be able to calculate the carbon footprint of their products, and accordingly, it will be possible to publicize one of the biggest benefits of using plastic, which prevents GHG emissions. For the Carbon Footprint analysis, Braskem considered the extraction of the raw material, its transport and the production process. The calculations were performed with the consulting assistance of the multinational ERM and audited by KPMG. The results indicate that the company’s figures are better than the equivalent ones for the chemical industry in Europe and the United States: the emission of the Braskem low density polyethylene, for example, is 1.31 tons of CO 2 equivalent per ton of product, while in the United States, this average is 1.48 tons and in Europe, 2.10 tons. According to Jorge Soto, Sustainable Development Director at Braskem, the disclosure of the results is aligned with the company’s transparency when it comes to GHG emission management. “We promote the low carbon culture and we want the population to have increasingly more access to this type of information so that it can decide to consume products with a lower environmental impact,” said Soto.

The Eco-Efficient Schools project helped establish strategies for the sustainable development of the area located near the Lima subway

institutions from the district of San Juan de Lurigancho, the area of influence of the Lima Subway Line 1 Stretch 2. In partnership with the Ministry of the Environment, the Emília Barcia Boniffatti Educational Institution No. 096 and the first Peru Ecological Garden, the consortium is implementing a methodology that involves representatives from the community schools, managers, administrators, parents and students for training on the topics of Practice of Responsible and Sustainable Consumption, Eco-Efficient Energy Management and Use, Efficient Water Management and Use, Eco-Efficient Solid and Liquid Waste and Air and Soil Quality Management, among others.
