establishing a network for collecting ethanol and distributing it in the consumer markets,” said Rousseff. “It is a challenging project, but precisely because of this promising as well,” she said, further emphasizing the importance of installing the terminals at theTietê Paraná water that is included in the development. According to the President, the project represents yet another milestone in the area of renewable fuels in the country. “The Logum system demonstrates the union of important companies that work in the sector and which are building and planning international-level ethanol transport infrastructure,” she said. Roberto Gonçalves, President and CEO of Logum, emphasized that the first stretch of the system used 99% national content. According to him, the project reflects a long-term vision marked by the trust of shareholders in terms of ethanol development in Brazil. “Logum will install and operate this innovative system and accordingly,

contribute competitively and securely toward ethanol development in the country,” said Gonçalves. Brazilian Minister of Mines and Energy, Edison Lobão, explained that the development helps Brazil maintain its position as a country that holds the world’s cleanest energy matrix. The Governor of São Paulo, Geraldo Alckmin, and Mayor of Ribeirão Preto, Darcy
Vera, emphasized the benefits for the region. “Brazil is an example in renewable energy for the whole world,” said Alckmin. “The construction of the ethanol pipeline will generate a major boost in competitiveness and help reduce costs,” he said. “This development is important not just for our municipality, but also for the whole country,” said Vera.
THE COMPANY AND THE PROJECT Created in March 2011, Logum will install and operate a comprehensive multimodal logistics system for transporting ethanol – from the main producing regions to the major consumer site and to the Brazilian coast for export and cabotage. Known as a pioneer worldwide and considered

A Milestone in Bahia’s Historiography The Salvador Museum of Sacred Art, located inside a 17th-century building, was the scenario chosen for the launch of the book entitled Edgard Santos e a reinvenção da Bahia (“Edgard Santos and the Reinvention of Bahia”), by Bahia author Antônio Risério. Held on August 8, the event was attended by the state’s former Governor Jaques Wagner, its current Governor Waldir Pires (1987-1989) and Roberto Santos (1975-1979) – the youngest child of the book’s main subject, whose mortal remains are found in the Church of Santa Teresa, part of the museum’s architectural unit, remodeled in 1958 by initiative of Edgard Santos, at the time Dean of the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA). The publication, by Versal Editores, received the cultural support of the Odebrecht Organization. “His life was his project,” stated Antonio Risério, who also explained that fact that he did not write a conventional biography, but rather “a series of manuscripts about Edgard and his
work, which are interweaved.” In the book, Risério reveals the entire history of the creator and first dean of UFBA, as well as the challenges he faced during the 15 years he served in the position (from 1946 to 1961). Structured into 18 chapters, which include “The Thinking of Edgard Santos,” “Focusing on the Vanguard,” “Student Opposition Movement,” “Between Darkness and Shots,” the book does not outline only a profile of its main character, but also of the political and cultural evolution of the place where he lived and worked. With a preface written by Luis Costa Lima, who defines Edgard as “someone who belongs to the Bahia social-economic elite and who behaves like an agent who is fighting tradition” and at the same time, as “an innovator with conservative roots,” the new biography proposal adopted by Risério emerges as a milestone in Bahia’s historiography. The publication can be acquired at the website: www.corujabooks.com.br.

EEP: First Year of the Drill Rigs Project On August 17, the Enseada do Paraguaçu Shipyard (EPP) completed one year since the signing of the contract to build six drill rigs for the company Sete Brasil. The rigs will be crucial for the exploration of oil in the presalt layer, which is found at water depths of 3,000 meters. Of the six drill rigs, four will be operated by Odebrecht Oil and Gas (Ondina, Pituba, Boipeba and Interlagos), and delivered by 2018. The rigs Itapema and Comandatuba will be operated in association with Etesco/OAS, and delivered by 2020. The contract has a global value of US$ 4.8 billion. The project was developed by the Dutch company Gusto, which will work in real time in synergy with the EEP professionals in both Brazil and Japan. The rigs will be built through the technology transfer that resulted from the partnership between
EEP and Kawasaki Heavy Industries. “The exchange of knowledge is the path toward installing a shipyard in Brazil with stateof-the-art technology, which will produce ships and rigs compatible with the most modern features available worldwide,” said Francisco Dezen, Director of the Drill Rigs Project. The contract represents a positive milestone for the company, since it is the first order that will be built at a shipyard currently under construction in Maragojipe, Bahia. The construction work began in 2012 and the dredging and earth leveling stages have already been completed. Currently, the structure and outfitting workshops are being set up. The Bahia shipyard will begin to cut the steel plates in 2014, when the technological transfer process should be complete.

After advancing 18 meters per day, the TBM Cristina arrived to the ditch located near the Paraná de las Palmas River. The tunnel will carry water from the river to the North Area Treatment System in Buenos Aires
Waters of Paraná Advances in Argentina Responsible for building the North Area Treatment System for the Argentinean stateowned company AySA, the Aguas del Paraná Consortium – led by Odebrecht Infrastructure – reached one of the project’s most important milestones on August 1: the arrival of the Tunnel Boring Machine or TBM (better known as the “tatuzão”) called Cristina to the Paraná de las Palmas River. The first stretch of the tunnel, which extends 15 kilometers long and has a diameter of 3.6 meters, will carry the crude water from the Paraná de las Palmas River to the Juan Manuel de Rosas treatment plant, located in the district of Tigre, Province of Buenos Aires. In order to celebrate the milestone, Rodney Carvalho, Infrastructure Director for Odebrecht in the country, Allan Abrantes, Contract Director of Aguas del Paraná, Members of the consortium and representatives of AySA, were all present.
The consortium uses the TBMs manufactured in Germany called Cristina and Liliana, to excavate and line the tunnel with concrete rings as part of a coordinated action. According to Leo Cavalli, responsible for Production, the tatuzão concluded the work after navigating up 8.15 kilometers and traveling 50 meters from the river. “During its course, it excavated 123,000 cubic meters of earth, installed 35,000 staves and set up 5,800 rings, advancing an average of 18 meters per day with peaks of 26.5 meters,” said Cavalli. The tunnel is part of the North Area Treatment System, a set of construction projects that will allow for the expansion and improvement of the supply of potable water in Northern Buenos Aires. The work also includes the construction of the Juan Manuel de Rosas plant, two entries of water (into Paraná de las Palmas River and Luján River) and three aqueducts for the distribution of treated water.

Line 4 of the Rio de Janeiro Subway and the Assembly of the ‘Tatuzão’ The Tunnel Boring Machine (TMB) – or “tatuzão” – which will drill the Rio de Janeiro Subway Line 4 tunnels between the General Osório and Gávea Stations, has begun to take shape. It is the largest in Latin America and the largest ever used for any subway construction work in Brazil. After finalizing the pre-assembly, the equipment continued to the tunnel at the underground level next to General Osório, where it is being set up to then begin the excavation work. Weighing 2,000 tons, and with a length of 120 meters and diameter of 11.5 meters, the TBM excavates 15-18 meters of tunnel per day, four times faster than other methods used previously in Rio de Janeiro. The stave factory – concrete rings that will be installed by the “tatuzão” to form the Line 4 underground tunnel – began to operate in July in

the city’s Downtown area. More than 70 staves have already been produced. The molds were custom-made from steel in Germany and each mold produces a segment of the ring, which is formed by eight parts. The production capacity is 10 rings per day, the same number of pieces that the TBM will install each day. Along the entire extension of the new stretch of line, from Ipanema to Gávea, a total of 21,088 staves will be used. The Rio de Janeiro Subway Line 4 – which will connect Barra da Tijuca to Ipanema – currently being built by Odebrecht Infrastructure, will transport more than 300,000 people per day starting in 2016. There will be six stations (Nossa Senhora da Paz, Jardim de Alah, Antero de Quental, Gávea, São Conrado and Jardim Oceânico) along the 16-kilometer course. The operation will begin during the first half of 2016.
Construction Work in the World’s Deepest Station The excavation of the main well for the Pump Station PS-01 project – the construction of the world’s deepest and most complex sewage pumping station, located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – was initiated by the teams from Odebrecht África, Emirados Árabes e Portugal in June. The construction work includes a reinforced concrete structure inserted into a well with a 50-meter diameter and which extended more than 100 meters underground, connected in the end to the sewage collector, which extends 46 kilometers at which will receive all of the sewage from Abu Dhabi in the future. Eight pumps with a total capacity of 30 cubic meters per second will be installed, and there is also the possibility for the addition of two more, which would increase the capacity to 39 cubic meters per second. The excavation work passes through different materials – soil and rock–, requiring methods and containments gathered into five different phases of execution, based on the progress of the activities. In order to excavate the tunnel, workers will use the NATM method – the sequential excavation of solid rock using projected concrete as a support and lattice girders. Because the groundwater levels in the region of the construction work are quite high,
treatment was completed along the perimeter and at the bottom of the well to join the fissures and reduce the possible flow of water during the excavation work.
In 2013, Odebrecht will complete 10 years of operations in the Arab Emirates: the Pump Station is currently the largest contract in the history of the Abu Dhabi Sewage Company (ADSSC)
The project’s main well began to be excavated in June of this year and should reach a depth of 100 meters

Partnership to Develop the Supply Chain The Executive Director of the Enseada do Paraguaçu Shipyard (EEP), Fernando Barbosa, together with the President of the Bahia State Federations of Industries (FIEB), José de F. Mascarenhas, signed a partnership agreement on August 8 with aims of strengthening the Bahia oil and gas and naval chain. The signing occurred at the FIEB head office with the presence of the Director of Institutional Relations and Sustainability at EEP, Humberto Rangel, together with the Head of the Euvaldo Lodi Institute (IEL), Armando Neto. IEL – the entity that is part of the FIEB System – will be responsible for managing the project, which aims to develop suppliers to meet EEP’s demands. The initiative is part of the agreement established with Brazil’s Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. The first phase of the Oil and Gas and Naval Chain Strengthening Project will be to identify the critical items related to material and service supply. After that, there will be a mapping of potential suppliers, which will provide the basis for elaborating a prior plan including improvements to be implemented by the companies. The idea is for the 30 companies to be inserted into the project, which also includes individual consulting through IEL. The initiative also includes the organization of business roundtables between suppliers and EEP. For José de F. Mascarenhas, the action is extremely important for Bahia and is part of FIEB’s efforts to form a strong metal-mechanical industry in the state. “With the signing of the contract, it is now necessary for the companies to become candidates and get qualified, since this is how we will be able to consolidate a supply chain in the mechanical area,” said Mascarenhas. He further emphasized the shipyard’s importance: “FIEB’s mission is to support the actions that help develop the industry in the state and this is a new sector for which Bahia presents major potential,” he said. Fernando Barbosa pointed out the development’s expectation with relation to the contract. “One of the most important things for EEP is to develop its supply chain, since we understand that the shipyard should be an assembler and need to have partners by its side that can add products and services to our work.”

The new units are reallocating families who lost their homes in the 2011 floods. Each set of apartments has a public space with a barbecue pit, playground and leisure areas
New Homes at Terra Nova On August 3, 140 families from Nova Friburgo, located in Rio de Janeiro’s mountainous region, received the keys to the first housing units of the Terra Nova Condominium, built in the district of Conselheiro Paulino by Odebrecht Infrastructure in synergy with Odebrecht Realizações Imobiliárias. Still this year, another 680 apartments will be delivered at the site for a total of 820 homes installed along a terrain extending approximately 66,000 square meters. The construction work from the second phase is already underway along a 71,000-meter area in front of the terrain of the first building, and includes another 1,360 units. The two phases should be concluded by the start of 2015. There are 2,180 units in the condominium, included in the Brazilian Federal Government’s My House, My Life program. They are 43-m² apartments with a living room, two bedrooms, a kitchen and bathroom. Elizabeth do Carmo de Oliveira, age 69, was one of those chosen: “Today is the happiest day of my life,” she said. “Today, my dream of receiving this wonderful home
is coming true. I now have my peace of mind back,” she said. Vice Governor and Infrastructure Coordinator in Rio de Janeiro, Luiz Fernando Pezão, emphasized the importance of building homes in a safe site. “There is not much flat terrain in the mountainous region, and it is expensive and generally not set aside for low-income housing construction,” he said. “We had to build these terrains in an environmentally correct way.” The Secretary of Construction Projects, Hudson Braga, believes that the residents of Terra Nova will recover their citizenship: “We are helping to give these people’s citizenship back,” he said. “They are every dignified homes that have all the necessary infrastructure.” In partnership with the National Industrial Learning Service (SENAI), Odebrecht Infrastructure trained more than 60 people in Nova Friburgo through the Believe Program, and also hired 52 participants. Currently, there are 700 Members working on the projects, and at the peak of the work starting in October, there will be around 1,000 workers.

‘Clicks’ of the Bahia Southern Lowlands “I’m one of these youth that believes in agriculture,” said Ubiratan dos Santos, age 17. “It is the best business,” he said. Resident of the community of Riachão da Serra, in the municipality of Valença, Bahia, the youth is proud to live in the rural zone. “I realized that I can live well in the rural region and this is what I want for myself,” said the student of the Presidente Tancredo Neves Rural Family Home (CFR-PTN) – a teaching unit associated with the Bahia Southern Lowlands Environmental Protection Area Mosaic Program for Development and Growth Integrated with Sustainability (PDCIS), supported by the Odebrecht Foundation together with public and private partners. The representation of this pride through images is the essence of the PDCIS Photography Award – a mobilization action involving the graduates of the teaching units associated with the program. These include: Family Homes, the Youth Home State High School and Build Better Professional Training Center. The idea is to awaken in youth a new perspective about the

Distinction for Members in Venezuela Odebrecht Infrastructure recognized five operators from the IRIS System – fleet tracking, administration and management – for their performance at the Third Bridge over the Orinoco River Project, located in Venezuela, between the states of Bolívar and Guárico. The event took place at the central construction site auditorium with the presence of the families of the Members, who were honored for not having any infractions within a period of three months. The IRS System monitors the functional parts of the vehicle, while at the same time also generating logistics support information about the equipment through a tracking program formed using the geographic coordinates obtained via GPS. Since its implementation in 2009, IRIS has allowed for the optimization of resources and boosted the drivers’ efficiency. Based on previously defined data related to excess speed, engine rotation, overheating, gears and clutches,
fuels and other aspects, the information is stored and sent to a monitoring center. At the center, it is possible to consult the records in real time, in addition to assessing the efficiency of each operator. At the Los Teques Linha II Consortium, 80 truck drivers and fleet operators also achieved a record. The project recorded the lowest IRIS infraction rate in Venezuela and even worldwide: zero, during a period of 24 months. The result was possible due to a new approach given to the IRIS System, which was transformed from an infraction control tool to a continuous evaluation and awards system that recognizes the operators’ efforts and performance. Challenge to Design a Plastic House Registration for the PVC House Contest – launched by Braskem and the Brazilian Architects’ Institute (IAB) – is open until September 13. The competition proposes the creation of a design for a house that prioritizes the use of plastics, and primarily PVC, as construction elements. The initiative is part of the commemorations for the inauguration the first PVC unit in Alagoas in 1988. One of the objectives is to generate visibility for new technologies applied in civil construction, incorporating the concepts of global sustainable housing. The use of PVC Concrete as a raw material for the project constitutes the major differential when meeting requirements

Technology Focused on Productivity Mobility, efficiency, savings and a concern with the Environment are the four objectives that summarize the initiative developed at the POY PET project, headed by Odebrecht Engenharia Industrial in Pernambuco: a software solution for the iPad designed to monitor construction project planning. Named “EPC-Tab”, the application – a supplement to SisEPC – allows for information updates, performed previously with printed protocols, directly on the field and online. If before the teams used large quantities of paper that generated complex files, with the new application the work is completed digitally. “The documents are sent via e-mail in a simple, fast and secure manner,” explained Erivelton Valmon, Systems Analyst responsible for the tool development team. According to
Valmon, the EPC-Tab interacts with other programs: “It can communicate with different types of systems and databases connected to the Odebrecht network,” he said. Also according to Valmon, the project is a pilot and is open to other demands. “The features developed until now are just a door of entry,” he said. “The idea is to use the application in the future to monitor the project indicators even while not at the site, in real time.” Ailton Araújo, Planning Manager, stated that the application also benefited the project test part. “Through EPC-Tab, we can monitor all of the LoopTests online,” said Araújo. The tool will also be used to help schedule activities, which is currently done on paper. “In the future, we will save some 2,000 sheets of paper per week,” he said.
Members from the POY PET Project earned efficiency and reliability for the planning processes. In order to install the application, the company purchased three iPads and the wireless internal network was expanded

The LEED – granted by the Green Building Council, of which Odebrecht Realizações Imobiliárias is founding member in Brazil – is based on a structured point system to measure a building’s environmental performance. This system is organized into the following categories: sustainable choice of the terrain; rational water use; rational energy and atmospheric emission use; material consumption and waste management; quality of the constructed environment and innovation and design process. The categories include required practices and credits and recommendations that, when met, guarantee points for the building. The certification level is defined based on the number of points earned, which varies from 40 to 110.
A LO OK I NSI DE TH E ON E The One – a single tower with 10 floors – currently occupies a terrain of 4,400 square meters and its units have a private average area

PRACTIC ES ADOPTED According to the orientations of LEED, The One chose to adopt a series of practices that officially made it a sustainable development. Learn more about these actions!
TRANSPORT Odebrecht Realizações Imobiliárias adopted measures designed to reduce the impacts of pollution generated by automobiles. The One was built a site equipped with a rich public transport network, thereby
reducing the dependency on individual means of transport.
FLO OD CONTROL Aiming to reduce the impacts caused by floods, certain new ideas were applied. The development has approximately 900 square meters of permeable area, with either native or adapted species of vegetation. Besides this, 450 square meters were also set aside for walking paths and covered sidewalks with permeable draining ground.
Part of the rainwater will be collected in reservoirs, and after it is filtered, it will be used to irrigate green areas
69
WATER In order to reduce the consumption of water at The One, several different actions were studied. One of these was the installation of water-saving devices, such as double action toilets, automatic faucets and flow restrictors, which guarantee a 20% reduction in water consumption based on United States reference values. To irrigate the gardens, non-potable rainwater is collected, together with condensed water through the air conditioning system.
E N ERGY In order to guarantee a reduction of approximately 10% in energy consumption, the measures adopted by The One are based on a model building determined by the ASHRAE (Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings) Standard 90.1, enacted in 2007. The development is preequipped for the VR type air conditioning system, which uses less energy compared to other systems and allows for independent air conditioning control in each unit. The lighting of the public areas was designed with energyefficient light bulbs and lamps,

controlled automatically by the building – a model that guarantees they are turned off when not in use. Besides this, each area has an energy meter that is also connected to the automated system, which monitors consumption on a daily basis. The front of the building uses high performance windows
that guarantee good natural lighting while also reducing the transmission of heat into the indoor environment.

Deian Andrade, a student at the Presidente Tancredo Neves Rural Family Home, is one of the participants of PAIS - Integrated and Sustainable Agro-Ecological Production
Nearly two years later, 75 PAIS units have been installed and 105 are currently being installed on the properties of the young producers who study at the Family Homes – the Presidente Tancredo Neves Rural Family Home (CFRPTN), Igrapiúna Rural Home (CFR-I), Agroforest Home (Cfaf), and the Youth Home. “I began planting the crops in a planned fashion and I’m also selling produce – cilantro, parsley and mint – at local establishments,” said Deian de Andrade, age 18, resident of the community of Moenda in Presidente Tancredo Neves. As soon as they received kits to set up the structure for PAIS – which consisted of a circular

garden, agro-ecological yard, chicken coop in the middle and drip irrigation –, the technical staff of Cfaf, CFR-I and the Youth House participated in the training sessions held at CFR-PTN, the first to start the work applying the technology.
BENEFITS FOR THE COMMUNITIES Encouraged to participate in the project, Wagner Conceição, age 20, a graduate of Cfaf, is guaranteeing R$ 550 per month through the sale of produce alone at outdoor fairs and through public policies, such as the Food Acquisition Program (PAA). “In addition to complementing the family’s income, I know that I am
supplying healthy foods to the final consumer,” said the resident of the community of Lagoa Santa, in Ituberá. For his next harvest, Quésia Santos, age 17, a second-year student at CFR-I and resident of Piraí do Norte, will also sell her products via PAA. “Through the municipality’s Department of Agriculture, we will offer foods to the schools and contribute toward the health of many children,” she said. “The results are visible and this motivates me to increase production.” The Youth House supported the installation of the PAIS units at the homes of graduates from the Youth House State School (CECJ). One of
them is Jhonatan dos Santos, age 19, from the second-year group of the technical course in AgroEcology. “Because I didn’t have any cost to adopt this project, I will be able to invest the profit in the next crops,” said Santos. Gláucio Gonçalves, an Agronomic Engineer and professor at CECJ, pointed out three important aspects of PAIS for family farmers: “It guarantees high quality food, helps improve monthly income and promotes practices that are in harmony with the environment, since the entire management of the project is based on the rational use of natural resources, such as water and soil.”

For Safer Traffic On August 16, Odebrecht Infrastructure kicked off the Safe Traffic campaign in Angola in cooperation with the country’s National Traffic and Road Department (DNVT) and the Angola Road Institute (INEA). The initiative was prompted by the high number of incidents on the Luanda roads recorded for the second consecutive year. The idea was to raise the awareness of pedestrians from the surrounding communities – under the theme “Every Driver is a Pedestrian, but Not All Pedestrians are Drivers” – and also reduce the number of pedestrians hit by cars on the roads. In addition to the participation by the Luanda Expressways project, the initiative also received the support of the Belas Business Park-4 (BBP4), Zango Project, Luanda Road System and Nossosuper contracts. “Due to the positive impact last year, we had the idea to make the campaign more extensive, involving the Organization’s other projects in
the country,” emphasized Roque D’Oliveira, responsible for the Social Area at Luanda Expressways. Each project set up a tent near the construction site and distributed t-shirts and brochures with messages about the topic. During the campaign opening ceremony, there was participation by Rosário Kiala, Engineer and Province Director of INEA, the Contract Directors from the involved projects, clients and representatives from the country’s National Police Force. Marcus Felipe de Aragão, responsible for Planning, People and Institutional Relations in Angola, highlighted the company’s role with society. “Odebrecht’s social responsibility policy includes work with the communities,” said Aragão. “With this campaign, we are maintaining a dialogue with people and raising their awareness about the importance of safe traffic as a way of reducing the death rate in the country,” he said.
The campaign involved some 500 mobilizers – Members in Angola –, and more than 18,000 brochures were distributed with messages featuring precautions when using public streets

Developing People through Agriculture In June, the OIV Tocoma Consortium, led by Odebrecht Infrastructure in Venezuela, delivered the training certificates for the Ecological Practice of Seed Sowing and Land Tenure course for 36 people from the community located near the construction work. The initiative marked the conclusion of the project’s social responsibility program, focused on providing the necessary tools so that the participants can live from the resources offered by the land in an ecological and sustainable fashion. During the course, the participants received instructions about the soil and its compounds, among other topics related to agriculture. The
consortium responsible for the construction of the Manuel Piar Hydroelectric Center in Tocoma began the training in January of this year, collaborating toward the policy of valuing and developing the communities located near the projects, as established by the consortium. In this group, the program trained 34 inhabitants from Los Melones and two representatives from CORPOELEC (Socialist Electric Company, from the country’s Ministry of Popular Power of Electric Energy). Together with the certificate, they received the responsibility of multiplying this knowledge in the community in which they live.
The training included a course load of 1,340 hours, with theoretical and practical activities on the resources offered by the land

The Community’s Physical and Financial In July, the Chaleno Kiambote program, developed by the Cambambe Hydroelectric Facility project, currently being undertaken by Odebrecht Infrastructure in Angola, combined some good results in the promotion of health and generation of income in the communities. The initiative trained 28 volunteer health agents to work on actions designed to prevent HIV and AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis and diarrhea in the cities of Cambingo, Terra Nova, Massangano and Kalenga. The 16-hour course was administered by Jorge Preto, from the Occupational Health team of Odebrecht in Angola. “Encouraging the practice of preventive actions for family health, such as the habit of washing hands, boiling water before consumption, using mosquito netting and disposing of garbage in the appropriate places are simple and can protect everyone from serious health problems,” said Vanessa Silva, responsible for the program. Chaleno Kiambote was undertaken through the Bwé Health project, which in local slang
means “lots of health” and has the main objective of raising people’s awareness about practices that benefit well-being and quality of life. Besides this, the partner producers of the Family Farming Program (PAF) reaped in good fruits with the support of the agronomist technicians from the Chaleno Kiambote team. The farms increased the diversification of the fruit, root and legume production, and began selling their products to the Cambambe Hydroelectric Facility cafeteria. The first sales totaled more than one and a half tons of products and increased the community’s earnings by approximately 20%. Some 60 producers from Cabingo, Terra Nova and Kalengue, participated in PAF. “This support has helped us strengthen the practice of agriculture and promote the increased generation of income and improvement in the quality of life of our families,” said Manoel António Rocha, soba (community leader) in Kalengue.
Family Farming gave the producers 914 kilos of banana and 770 kilos of tomatoes. Other food types, such as corn flour and red pepper, will also be sold
