COMMITMENT MADE On September 25, Odebrecht Realizações Imobiliárias delivered the first development built in Santos, located along São Paulo’s coast.

Approximately 280 people took part in the celebration, including clients, Members and guests.

The residential development, named The Garden, values the city’s natural characteristics within a 7,000-square meter (m²) area. The future residents revealed their satisfaction when seeing the final result and

stated that they were surprised primarily with the finish work in the public areas. “The Garden offers items that promote well being and quality of life in a region with great potential for increased value,” emphasized Marcello Arduin, Director of the Santos, Coastal and Greater São Paulo Sub-Regional Office.

There are more than 30 leisure options, with spaces dedicated to activities for relaxing and practicing sports, in addition to a pet space, which is designed exclusively for people’s animals.

In Barueri, located in the São Paulo Metropolitan Region, the delivery of the last two towers of the residential building Alpha Park

marked the conclusion of Alpha Square – a condominium with both residential and commercial units. The event was attended by some 200 people, including both clients and Members.

The climate felt among the guests was that of a dream come true. During the ceremony, Cláudio Zafiro, Director of the Campinas, Alphaville and Rural Sub-Regional Office, emphasized that the Alpha Park condominiums will be able to enjoy the benefits offered by a multi-use complex: “The residents will have both comfort and safety and will spend less time commuting, something that will help improve their quality of life.”

In addition to Alpha Park, with 556 residential units, and Alpha Garden, with 130 apartments, the complex has the 72 Alpha Mall service stores and 617 commercial rooms that make up the Alpha Offices. “Alpha Square was developed to meet the demand of

a region that is earning a place as one of São Paulo’s main business centers,” added Cláudio Zafiro.

Designed to promote occupation that is balanced with environmental preservation, of the 42,072 m² of total terrain, 15,000 m² are preserved green area.

Odebrecht Realizações Imobiliárias presented its first condominium in the city’s North Zone: the residential development called Homenagem Jaçanã.

Consisting of 542 apartments divided into three towers, the development will also offer the community benefits, such as an 2,700-m² outdoor square with

exercise equipment, children’s toys, a bicycle rack and tables for playing games such as chess and checkers. Reserving part of the terrain to install this area helps add value to the neighborhood.

Together with the public square, the project also includes a commercial area with plenty of conveniences.

The neighborhood of Jaçanã earned fame in 1965 when it was cited in the song “11 O’clock Train,” by Adoniram Barbosa, and the development pays tribute to this piece of history. “There is something familiar about the neighborhood for São Paulo’s residents,” said Flavio Lotaif.

“This context was considered when developing the project,” he said. Part of this memory can be found at the Jaçanã Memory Museum, maintained by resident Sílvio Bittencourt, and will be on display at the sales stand. “We will use this space to disseminate the enchanting history of the neighborhood and museum where this material is preserved,” explained the director.

On September 21, it was time to launch Cidade Viva, in the

municipality of Santo André, located in the Greater São Paulo area. The development joins two commercial towers, two residential condominiums, service stores and a private park extending across some 6,000 m² of green area. The differentials include the privileged location and the revitalization work planned for the industrial neighborhood.

“With Cidade Viva, the company consolidates the concept of multiuse complexes in the region, a model that has already been successfully implemented in the other cities in which we operate,” said Elton Santi, the development’s Incorporation Director. “They are projects that eliminate the need for long commutes and allow for integration between housing, work, shopping and leisure,” he said. During the first phase of sales, the 37-530-m 2 stores were sold.

RESPECT FOR THE MOST VALUABLE GOOD Parque da Cidade received the Silver classification in the Motivational Campaigns category during the 2nd edition of the São Paulo Seconci Workplace Health and Safety Award for the Integrated Quality of Life Program developed at the construction site.

The ceremony to announce the winners was held on September 23 in São Paulo. Odebrecht Realizações Imobiliárias was represented by Bruno Gaban, Administrative and Financial Manager, and Adriana Oliveira, responsible for Community Relations.

“The result is certainly a reflection of the competent and responsible work of the Business in the market, as well as the commitment to Workplace Health and Safety,” stated the Organizing

Commission of Seconci-SP in a statement it released about the award.

The Integrated Quality of Life Program resulted from a partnership between Odebrecht Realizações Imobiliárias and the Industrial Social Service (SESI) to plan actions in partnership with the construction project’s team designed to improve Members’ health and lifestyle.

The initiative was first implemented in April 2013 and evaluated 248 people about their specific emotional and physical state. “We perceived the need to measure the Members’ quality of life,” explained Bruno Gaban. The idea is to monitor the entire team for at least two years after the actions are implemented.

Expanding the Goiânia Airport INFRAERO Airports – an entity associated with the Brazilian Civil Aviation Department – and the consortium formed by the companies Odebrecht Infrastructure and Via Engenharia signed a service order in September to start the construction work for the new passenger terminal at the Santa Genoveva Airport in Goiânia.

Being undertaken on the terrain of the future airport, the ceremony included the presence of the Minister of Civil Aviation, Wellington Moreira Franco, Governor of Goiás, Marconi Perillo, Mayor of Goiânia, Paulo Garcia, President of INFRAERO, Antônio Gustavo Matos do Vale, together with representatives from the consortium, including João Pacífico, Senior Officer of Odebrecht Infrastructure, and Ricardo Ferraz and Marcelo Araújo, Contract Directors.

The new passenger terminal at the Santa Genoveva Airport will have its area expanded from 7,571 square meters (m²) to 34,100 m2, and its capacity will increase from 3.5 to 5.1 million passengers/year. The airport will also have 11 new elevators, four escalators and four fingers added to it. The work will be completed in 18 months, with conclusion set for March 2015.

The consortium is currently developing an executive project for the infrastructure work (taxiway, aircraft yard, parking lot for vehicles, road systems and external networks – sewage, energy, water, lighting and telematic), which will be delivered with the price quote by November of this year for approval by INFRAERO. The Bolivarian Cable Liner has been operating in the city of Miranda since August from Monday-Sunday

Practical and Efficient Transport Odebrecht Infrastructure celebrated the start of operation of the Bolivarian Cable Liner in Venezuela. The construction work for the train line in the State of Miranda inaugurated its first phase, in August, in the community of Petrare.

Line 5 of the Caracas Subway and with the Caracas Guarenas Guatire Mass Transport System (STMCGG), both of which are currently under construction.

Each day, at seven-minute intervals, some 120,000 people will be able to ride the Bolivarian Cable Liner from the

systems of the country, the trains are operated by a control room, without the need for a conductor. The inauguration ceremony was headed by Nicolás Maduro, Venezuela’s President, together with Haiman El Troudi, the country’s Minister of Ground Transport.

The first stage of the Cable Line project includes three stations – Petare II, 19 de Abril and 5 de Julio – which at the

neighborhood of Petare Norte to the subway station. Currently, the inhabitants take 40 minutes to complete the same route by car.

The installation of the new transport system will generate improvements in the population’s quality of life and also bring benefits to the community located near the train line. Complementary work is also being completed simultaneously, such as a

conclusion of Waraira Repano and 24 de Julio stations will create a connection with

Interactivity at the Future Subway The South stretch of the Rio de Janeiro Subway Line 4, currently being built by the Linha 4 Sul Consortium – led by Odebrecht Infrastructure –, recently inaugurated the Interactive Station, a space with technological resources that bring the population technical information and interesting facts about the construction work.

The 225-square meter space has three interactive screens, a miniature model of the Line 4 South stretch, 3-D video booths of each station and a panel of photos with

a timeline of the project. The main highlight is the holography (3-D images) of the “tatuzão” (Shield) that is drilling the tunnel.

“It is quite interesting and the information is very well explained,” said resident Felipe de Nascimento. “Anyone who comes here and watches it all attentively leaves with a good idea of where the project is at,” he said.

At the end of the tour, visitors can take home a special gift: a photo in settings related to the construction work, such as the pile of staves in the neighborhood of Leopoldina.

More Residents for Talatona On September 5, the oil company Maersk Oil Angola signed a contract with Odebrecht Infrastructure to purchase 20 homes under the Talatona Residences project in Luanda.

The condominium consists of 380-square meter (m²) homes and has leisure and security infrastructure and a green area extending 62,000 m². Other oil companies, such as Esso Angola, also acquired units at the Talatona Residences to house their work teams.

During the contract signing ceremony, Marcelo Hofke, Director at Odebrecht and responsible for the Sonangol projects, presented the progress of the work and reinforced the zero accident rate and the Organization’s commitment to training local labor. “We have approximately 700 Members and more than 200 people trained,” emphasized Hofke. For Agostinho Diogo, responsible for the Oil Concessions and representative of Maersk Oil Angola, Odebrecht has contributed toward the country’s development through the transfer of knowledge: “It is precisely this type of exchange that Angola is seeking,” he said.

The partnership between Maersk Oil Angola and the Organization also exists at other contracts and at Kukula Ku Moxi, a family farming program that helps generate income for the communities while improving their quality of life and self-sustainability. Victoria Quaglia, Social-Corporate Responsibility Director at the oil company, commented on her satisfaction at strengthening this relationship through yet another initiative.

Achievements for Cusco On August 3, during a symbolic ceremony, the cornerstone was placed for the project Via de Evitamiento currently being completed by Odebrecht Infrastructure in the Peruvian city of Cusco.

The event was attended by Jorge Acurio Tito, Community President of Cusco, Ricardo Boleira, Senior Officer of Odebrecht Infrastructure in Peru, and

Development Plan and will renew 9 . 5 kilometers of road that connects the neighborhood of Cusco-Puno to Agua Buena . The most important benefits of project include the time and money saved transporting products, in addition to the fact that the trip can be safely completed on a highway that will have bridges, walkways, lighting and

Along its urban stretch, the Benguela-BaĂ­a Farta road was expanded to include four lanes, a shoulder and signs to increase safety for its users

Odebrecht Infrastructure is celebrating the conclusion of the revitalization work and expansion of the road that joins the cities of Benguela and BaĂ­a Farta, in Angola. Reopened on September 21, the street is considered one of the main connections between the North and Southwest regions of the province, facilitating the circulation of people and merchandise.

In addition to the asphalt paving, the project also includes the installation of items such as viaducts, walkways, lighting and the drainage of rainwater along its 26 kilometers of extension.

For JosĂŠ Manuel, resident of Benguela, the road will benefit the community, primarily because it will facilitate mobility.

During the delivery ceremony, Isaac dos Anjos, Benguela Governor, emphasized that the development gives the municipalities more visibility and asked for caution to ensure the proper use of the highway.

During the reopening event, a campaign was held together with the Province Traffic and Road Department to raise awareness and help prevent highway accidents in the community.

Irish Students in Maracanã At the end of September in Rio de Janeiro, Carlos Hermanny, responsible for Corporate Management Support at Odebrecht Infraestrutura, received 40 students from the University of Limerick’ Kemmy Business School in Ireland. The meeting took place at Maracanã – which was chosen because it represents one of the construction projects for the 2014 World Cup. Hermanny talked about Odebrecht’s

Important Achievements in the Offshore Market

he joint venture formed by Odebrecht Oil and Gas and Technip is moving forward with the construction of the two Pipe-Laying Support Vessels (PLSVs) – maritime vessels that connect rigs to the oil production systems via cables – in South Korea.

August 2013 marked the Keel Laying ceremony for the TOP Estrela do Mar PLSV at the South Korean shipyard Daewoo Shipbuilding Marine Engineering (DSME).

Keel Laying represents the first union of the vessel’s modular components, when the first structural

part that will become a piece of the ship is placed in the site of its construction.

“It is gratifying to see all that all of the work completed during the Engineering phase was transformed into such grandiose objects as these ships,” said Leonardo Padilha Cabral,

Project Controller. “The lessons learned during the construction of the first vessel, the TOP Coral do Atlântico, were crucial for the success of the second,” he said.

Gradually, the construction phases of the vessels are being completed. At the start of

Odebrecht Oil and Gas, Technip and DSME celebrated the positioning of the first structural part of the PLSV TOP Estrela do Mar in South Korea: an important phase in the construction of the ship

September, for example, the launch tower for the TOP Coral do Atlântico, which was manufactured in France, arrived to South Korea to be installed on the vessel.

AWARDED PARTNERSHIP The Naval Engineering and Special Ship Division at DSME – responsible for the PLSV ship project being completed by the Odebrecht Oil and Gas and Technip joint venture – earned the Grand Honorary Award from the Korean shipyard. The award resulted from the engineering work that was completed between the joint venture and DSME. The distinction is granted each year to a group of people who surpass expectations with their work and bring the company its best results. “We hope that the results of this achievement have a positive impact during the project’s construction and commissioning phase,” said Marcelo Nunes, Contract Manager.

The Naval Engineering and Special Ship Division thanked and praised the contribution of the joint venture team. “The key to this successful partnership was undoubtedly the openness and honesty with which the client and the shipyard listened to and understood the needs and limitations of each side, working together with aims of mitigating any problem,” said Peter Mackenzie, Engineering and Construction Manager for the project.

“A good result could not have been achieved without the cooperation and collaboration of the Members of DSME and the joint venture involved,” he said.

Maravilha Port Begins to Earn Life

Porto Vida Residencial – an Odebrecht Infrastructure development being constructed in partnership with the companies OAS and Carioca Engenharia – will bring the Rio de Janeiro Port region a full revitalization of the Maravilha Port neighborhood. Consisting of seven sectors, it will house 1,333

apartments and 33 commercial stores all within a 19,000-square meter (m²) area.

In 2016, the complex will serve as home to the Referees’ Village and the Olympic Media. Starting in 2017, the condominium will receive its residents in a privileged location that will include commercial, residential and service buildings in the future.

Approximately 11,000 people signed up interested in acquiring an apartment, participating in a drawing to define the delivery order of the documents for credit analysis.

MARAVILHA PORT HIGHLIGHTED

On September 26, the seminar Maravilha Port: Benefits and Opportunities, promoted by the newspaper Valor Econômico, gathered 200 entrepreneurs to debate the challenge of transforming Rio de Janeiro’s port region into a space for public use, housing and work. The country’s largest publicprivate partnership (PPP), Maravilha Port involves the participation of Odebrecht Infrastructure and is based on the concepts of the urban, economic and social requalification of the environment.

During the opening of the seminar, José Renato Ponte, President of the Porto Novo Concessionaire, emphasized that the operation is sustainable because it is financed with resources generated in the region itself: “Maravilha Port is focused on improving urban mobility and the population’s quality of life, in addition to creating the conditions for the development of commerce and industry,” said Ponte. From a cultural aspect, the project includes the construction of expressways, installation of Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) lines and the integration

with other means of transport. “This is the creation of value,” he said. “It means bringing life to the Downtown region of Rio de Janeiro.”

Daniel Villar, Senior Officer at Odebrecht Realizações Imobiliárias, addressed the figures that indicate the continuous and growing real estate demand in the city for corporate and residential properties like Porto Vida. According to Villar, the challenges present in the real estate sector from here on out include the installation of adequate infrastructure with commercial points, entertainment and services, in addition to investments in corporate spaces.

Jean Caris, Sub-Secretary of Management Planning and Modernization for the Rio de Janeiro City Government, presented a summary and the main challenges that the municipal management faces, and also put the importance of the PPPs and concessions into context as instruments that make major construction projects feasible.

Company (CDURP), detailed the innovative financial and institutional modeling of the project, which does not involve the use of public funds, and also pointed out the preservation of the region’s cultural and historical wealth.

“We are currently undertaking a process to bring Rio de Janeiro back to the center of the national scene,” said Silva.

“Maravilha Port is contributing toward this movement and will also benefit from it,” he said.

Among the Best in Innovation Represented by Odebrecht Infrastructure, the Organization has become one of the 30 finalists for the Best Innovator Award, promoted by the magazine Época Negócios and AT Kearney, a multinational top management consulting firm.

Currently in its fourth edition in Brazil, Best Innovator was created to recognize the top companies in the area of innovation management, disseminate best practices and contribute toward the development of the Brazilian entrepreneurial environment.

The winner will be invited to participate in the Best Innovator Club Meeting, an event held every two years, generally in Europe, in which the winning companies from all over the world exchange experiences and debate their success stories.

On University Students’ Minds Braskem is among the 15 Most Innovative Companies for University Students in Brazil, according to a survey conducted by the consulting firm Universum – A North American company specialized in talent attraction.

The survey has been conducted since 2009 , and during this edition, it heard from 15 , 855 university students in the country from the Management and Business, Engineering, Information Technology and Natural Sciences majors.

Participants indicated the companies that they most admire and gave them 40 different

characteristics. According to the study, innovation was the most highly cited item for classifying them, considered one of the most important criteria for the youth in their search for their first job opportunity. Of the 15 companies selected, five are Brazilian.

As one of the country’ s largest private investments in innovation, Braskem had 650 patents deposited by 2012 and some 350 Members dedicated to developing new products and applications. Over the past three years, 18% of its earnings with resins have been generated through product launches.

Commitment to the Communities On September 19, Odebrecht Infrastructure received recognition from the Bolivarian Navy of Venezuela for the Nigale Bridge project. The construction project is being completed in Zulia and will connect the municipalities of Mara and Miranda along a 12-kilometer bridge over Maracaibo Lake. With over 46 kilometers of interconnected highways, the development will help boost the region’s development.

Maracaíbo Lake is home to one of the country’s largest oil reserves and approximately 7,000 families live near it who work with artisanal fishing. The partnership between Odebrecht and Bolivarian Navy of Venezuela allowed for an intensification of the local communities’

safety through the Tenente Pedro Lucas Urribarri Main Bodyguard Station (an entity of the Navy with ampler authority when compared to the Coast Guard).

The joint actions increased the lake and river patrols to safeguard the lake and its coastal zones.

This was the goal of the 135 Members gathered in Bahia on September 12 and 13, invited by Odebrecht Corretora de Seguros for the 6th Personal Insurance Meeting.

The event was developed so that the People & Organization (P&O) teams and

those responsible for the human resource processes could align actions and exchange experiences on the topic at the Organization. Based on the knowledge gained, the participants can disseminate what they learned to help Members with their questions and decisions. “The initiative emerged in 2009, when we noticed a great demand for

information about our insurance plans,” explained Bettina Skelton, responsible for Personal Insurance at Odebrecht Corretora de Seguros.

“With Odebrecht’s growth, we went from holding small regional meetings to annual meetings involving the Organization’s different businesses,” she said. Skelton emphasized that the

event is also an opportunity for her team to build a closer relationship with the Line, identifying needs and receiving contributions to serve Members even better.

Of the different presentations, Andrea Medici, Occupational Physician at Odebrecht S.A., addressed issues related to Occupational Health and its impact on corporate security, including information on the importance of meeting legal requirements to protect Members. The lecture drew a high level of participation from the audience, which asked questions about common situations in the projects that may generate labor risks for the Businesses.

The new offerings include the purchase of medication at a discounted price at accredited pharmacies through the health insurance plan.

IN THE COURSE OF BUSINESS The 6th Personal Insurance Meeting presented real cases about the practice of health integrated with workplace safety. Mauricio Mendes, Administrative-Financial Manager at the Santo Antônio Hydroelectric Power Plant in Rondônia, shared the challenge of implementing a personal insurance program in an environment marked by a high number of Member and partner transfers. Beatriz Filgueiras, responsible for Culture and Integration at Odebrecht S.A., presented the Cycle of Health

Activities developed for the São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Salvador offices with aims of sharing good practices for a healthier lifestyle.

a case study conducted by Odebrecht Corretora de Seguros with the support of the Condor Institute – a partner consulting firm that plans the integration meetings.

In the practical exercise, a company with negative projected growth for the upcoming years receives the suggestion to replace its health insurance company for another that offers lower rates. Divided into groups, Members analyzed the risks that such a replacement could generate for the Business and what changes could be implemented with the current insurance company in order to be able to maintain it. After that, there was a group dynamic exercise to present the different solutions and also debates on best practices.

Neilthon Lopes, responsible for People and Organization at Odebrecht Infrastructure in Panama, pointed out the event’s importance: “Each meeting represents a new lesson learned,”

he said. “We are always increasing knowledge.” For Lopes, the edition called participants’ attention to the need for improvements when disseminating information and orienting people as to the benefits that the Organization offers, not just in terms of insurance, but also the plans offered by Odebrecht Previdência. “The Members need someone that encourages them to join and who can present them with opportunities, citing examples that are often times personal,” he said. “This is how we create a relationship of trust.”

The challenges include: detailed work to identify and monitor those Members who are on sick or disability leave, a situation that generates a high cost for the Businesses; a study to allow for the installation of an assistance unit for professionals with systems integrated with payroll and the insurance companies; and the creation of a portal that gathers information about occupational and supplementary health, allow for

better administration and monitoring of Members.

Bettina Skelton stated that with each edition, the meeting earns more attention and increasing participation levels. “This year, Odebrecht Corretora de Seguros is completing 35 years of history and we want to always offer better services and coverage to the People at the Organization,” she said.

Having worked at the Organization for 25 years, Neilthon Lopes highlighted the importance of the meeting for adding new learning.

New Support for the Daily Routine From January to June 2013, two Odebrecht Infrastructure projects in Venezuela implemented SisEPC – an engineering system that manages the physical progress of developments in support of Planning, Production, Quality and Costs.

The initiative was headed by the Information Technology (IT) teams from Odebrecht S.A. and Odebrecht Venezuela and involved the projects Second Crossing over Maracaibo Lake – Nigale Bridge and the Caracas-Guarenas-Guatire System.

The project involved the analysis of the needs of each site and how the available engineering systems could support the Members’ work routine, including the integration between teams. The study identified manual processes that could be improved using technology tools developed by the Organization. For Oscar Parra, responsible for Planning at the Second Crossing over

Maracaibo Lake – Nigale Bridge, SisEPC brought the necessary features to complete the project in less time and at a lower cost. “In addition to the Members’ development, the system offers best practices to plan, program and implement the projects,” said Parra.

Rene Moraes, from the Odebrecht S.A. IT Engineering Systems area at Odebrecht S.A. and project leader, emphasized the alignment between the teams as one of the main benefits of the implementation. “Using the process mapping, we identified and showed the areas the possible integration between groups using technology so as to avoid rework,” said Moraes.

At the construction work for the CaracasGuarenas-Guatire System, there was also the installation of the ADCON System, for Contract Management control; RDO System, a Construction Project Log recording tool; and SisFER System, designed for Tool Room Control support.

The production of the Bahia Southern Lowlands aquaculturists is transformed into filet by the industry, which will also allow for the manufacturing of oil, fish meat pulp and fish flour

n August 2013, the Brazilian Ministry of Fishing and Agriculture (MPA) revealed that the average Brazilian consumes approximately 9 kilos of fish per year. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, the recommended amount is 12 kilos per person. Therefore, the MPA is offering incentives for national production and expects to turn Brazil into one of world’s largest producers by 2030, with 20 million tons of fish caught per year.

The Continental Waters Aquaculturists’ Cooperative (COOPECON) hopes to join in on such efforts and do its part to increase the amount of white protein available to the population. In August of this year, its Fish Processing Unit (UBP) was certified by the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA) Federal Inspection Service (SIF). The catch of its 53 members will be processed and transformed into fish filets by UBP, which adds value to the product and also allows for improved income return to the aquaculturists

of the Bahia Southern Lowlands.

Josedilson Daltro, Federal Agricultural Inspector at MAPA, reinforced the importance of this achievement. “Without SIF, the sale of products of animal origin is prohibited,” explained Daltro. “Furthermore, this certification allows for interstate and international sales. In order for an industry to join this select group, it is necessary to first meet several prerequisites,” he said. In Bahia, only 11 factories from this segment have the MAPA seal to distribute their production.

“In addition to the filets, the industry makes it possible to manufacture oil, fish meat pulp and fish flour,” explained José Raimundo de Oliveira, cooperative member and Chair of the Deliberative Council. “This allows the cooperative members to increase their income even more,” he said.

The activities of the COOPECON Processing Plant – which has the capacity to process seven tons per day – will be accompanied by

a federal agricultural inspector or inspection agent associated with MAPA. “The quality of the fish needs to be excellent,” said Dimitrius Carvalho, Industrial Leader at COOPECON – a cooperative that is part of the Bahia Southern Lowlands Environmental Protection Area Mosaic Program for Development and Growth Integrated with Sustainability (PDCIS), supported by the Odebrecht Foundation and public and private partners. “If it has the SIF seal than this is because it meets the highest standards required by the Ministry,” said Carvalho.

According to Daltro, MAPA will work in partnership with aims of always providing the consumer white protein of a reliable quality. “We have nothing but congratulations for this initiative of equipping Bahia with a fish factory that meets international standards and for promoting the inclusion of farmers in the Southern Lowlands,” said Daltro.

Solidarity Caught on Film

With sponsorship from Odebrecht and other companies, the book Expedicionários da Saúde (Expeditionaries of Health), by André François, was launched on September 25 in São Paulo.

The publication describes eight journeys by the group of Health Expeditionaries volunteers – formed by physicians, nurses and logistics agents – to indigenous villages, including the expedition to the Sai Cinza community located near the Teles Pires Hydroelectric Power Plant currently being built by Odebrecht Infrastructure at the border between the states of Pará and Mato Grosso. The volunteers offer medical assistance to the indigenous population, respecting the forest and the traditions of their patients.

In addition to the photo essay, the book also presents a daily log describing the day-to-day of the expedition in the communities it visits. “The beauty of each photograph reveals the looks of gratitude the Health Expeditionaries receive, but

which go unnoticed during the busy daily routine of their work,” said Sydney Possuelo, expert from the area and author of the publication’s preface.

The Expeditionaries team reveals that, despite the difficulties related to logistics, it is possible to make a difference in the lives of Brazilians with little access to the main urban centers. This work prevents trauma and a high transport cost for the indigenous peoples. “Here, we give the physicians the opportunity to practice solidarity, and the most incredible thing is that there is no lack of volunteers,” said Ricardo Affonso Ferreira, orthopedic doctor and founder of the group.

Over 140,000 indigenous peoples of 58 different ethnicities have been cared for by the Heath Expeditionaries since it first started out in 2003.

Digital Cities Program Arrives to Bahia Connecting people, increasing access to information and supporting the development of communities are some of the main contributions that Information Technology and Communication bring to society. In order to leverage these benefits, the Digital Cities Program is being implemented in the municipalities of Piraí do Norte and Nilo Peçanha, located in the Bahia Southern Lowlands. The initiative of the Brazilian Ministry of Communications (MiniCom) allows for the installation of infrastructure for network connections at public agencies, server training and also free Internet access spaces for the community.

The first phase, which was completed in September, involves the installation of optic fibers that make the connection possible. “Nilo Peçanha and Piraí do Norte will be the first assisted by the program, which helps improve administrative processes and also promotes the development of technology in Brazil,” said Alaécio Santos, representative of MiniCom. With the conclusion of this phase, the servers will then be trained to use the software packages that will be incorporated in the financial, tax, education and health areas of the municipalities.

Furthermore, free Internet network access is already available to the population in the cities’ public squares. “Our community will be benefited with the professionalization of communication,” said Carlos Azevedo, Mayor of Nilo Peçanha. “It is a major advance,” he said.

The Digital Cities Program selected 80 of the 190 municipalities that signed up in different Brazilian states, evaluated based on their management and technical capacity, having a population of up to 50,000 inhabitants and expansion of the network. The participation by Nilo Peçanha and Piraí do Norte was supported by the Pratigi Environmental Protection Area Inter-Municipal Consortium (CIAPRA).

Formed by three more cities – Ibirapitanga, Igrapiúna and Ituberá –, CIAPRA helps implement federal and state government public policies for the cities it represents. It works in synergy with the Pratigi EPA Guardian Association, which is part of Bahia Southern Lowlands Environmental Protection Area Mosaic Program for Development and Growth Integrated with Sustainability (PDCIS), supported by the Odebrecht Foundation and public and private partners by CIAPRA itself.

Rota das Bandeiras: Incentive toward During the event held on September 25 at the City Council of Valinhos , located in rural São Paulo, the Rota das Bandeiras concessionaire – an Odebrecht TransPort asset – announced the winners of the Education Route Cultural Contest. Approximately 150 children from 11 municipalities located along the Dom Pedro Corridor were present for the announcement.

With aims of developing more conscious drivers and pedestrians, the contest selected nine winners in three different categories, designed for 1st and 2nd grade students and teachers. A total of 1,408 projects were signed up.

“We are very pleased with the growth of Education Route and the acceptance the initiative has received from the Dom Pedro Corridor municipalities,” said Adherbal Vieira da Silva, the concessionaire’s Social Responsibility Manager.

Launched in 2012, the program offers 1st to 5th grade students and their teachers theoretical and practical courses about mobility, citizenship and the environment. Education Route is currently underway in 11 of the 17 cities traversed by the Dom Pedro Corridor highways, assisting some 3,000 students. For 2014, Rota das Bandeiras hopes to expand the project into all municipalities.

The launch of the action, which is part of the Citizenship on the Road program, occurred during

animals, basic road safety tips, safe behavior and also respect for traffic laws.

“Our goal is to use play to promote learning and develop environmental and traffic education with people of all ages,” said Joyce Melo, SocialEnvironmental Development Advisor for Rota do Atlântico. “Launching the project was very gratifying, since we were able to reach children and

The Potable Water - Group 2 project, currently being implemented by Odebrecht Infrastructure in Panama, will benefit more than 600,000 people who currently do not have potable water supplies in their communities.

Due to the lack of water, these citizens are lacking in their personal hygiene habits and become vulnerable to several different diseases. This led to the creation of Odebrecht in the Community, designed to raise the awareness of children and educate them about good Health and Safety practices.

During the first months of the development, 40 volunteers supported more than 8,000 children in three social initiatives that are part of the project Odebrecht in the Community: Smile for Life, “Movie Theater Bus” in your Neighborhood and Qualifying Little Citizens. Dental Association (AOP), the country’s Ministry of Health (MINSA), University of Panama (UP) and Colgate - Palmolive, Smile for Life uses an instructional approach to reinforce essential hygiene habits for preventing oral diseases among children ages 6 to 12. During its first phase, the activities reached more than 6,000 public school students in the communities of Pedregal and San Miguelito.

Qualifying Little Citizens gathers children ages 6-8 from local communities on Saturdays for lectures on environmental preservation, proper water use and conservation, road safety and nutrition and health. The initiative established a partnership with the National Environmental Authority, Traffic and Land Transport Authority and MINSA and has already assisted 1,500 children.

With aims of fostering family and social values among the children, the “Movie Theater Bus” in your Neighborhood visits different communities, presenting films designed for students ages 3 to 12. A micro bus was transformed into a movie theater, with an air conditioned area, projector, screen, music and video player and tinted windows. Over 1,600 children have had the opportunity to watch movies in the cinebus.

Supporting the Community’s Economic Growth

The Economic Service Center is part of the Poverty Reduction and Alleviation Project methodology to strengthen the relationship between the market and rural producers.

The initiative is currently in 10 centers and benefits 55,000 farmers

In July of this year, the United State Agency for International Development (USAID) Poverty Reduction and Alleviation Project (PRA) competed 14 years of operation in the low income communities of Peru.

The initiative has built bonds of trust between small producers and the buying market in different regions of the country. Among companies that participated in the initiative, the Odebrecht Organization received distinction from the United States Embassy for its contribution to PRA. The Odebrecht promoted a partnership

in the country with USAID to support the Economic Services Center (CSE) of the municipalities present along the stretch from Cusco to Madre de Dios.

During its period of activities, PRA supported the relationship between 55,000 small farmers and 350 buying companies, generating more than US$ 400 million in sales. Of this total, 189 million came from exported products.

The initiative also generated some 99,000 new job opportunities in the region. These figures reflect an improvement in inhabitants’ quality of life.

Educating for Sustainability Working in partnership with Braskem, the Akatu Institute launched Edukatu in September. It is the first learning network focused on conscious consumption and sustainability. The project is designed to mobilize elementary school students and teachers to develop a community that promotes economic, social and environmental education.

Using technology as a tool for learning, Edukatu has an online platform divided into three blocks: In the Backpack, which presents content on conscious consumption; Circuit, with playful activities; and Network, a space in which students and teachers meet to share experiences and ask questions with members of Akatu. “Conscious practices cannot be imposed,” explained Helio Matter, President and CEO of Akatu. “That is why the project has a totally interactive platform. The idea is not to have one-way learning, but rather promote an exchange,” he said.

During the first half of this year, the pilot phase was completed, involving the participation of 16 public

schools in Brazil and with a total of 400 people signed up.

At many teaching institutions, the project extended beyond the classrooms to involve the whole community. Edukatu’s proposal is for each participant to become a multiplier, expanding the debate on the topic in a collaborative fashion and also intervening directly in people’s daily practices.

“Serving as a partner of Akatu in the project is a way for Braskem to help develop a more sustainable society,” said André Leal, Social Responsibility Leader at Braskem. “Reflecting on a product’s impact, from production to disposal, is each the responsibility of each one of us and will certainly transform our world,” he said.

The initiative, which receives institutional support from the Ministry of the Environment and Ministry of Education, benefitted from the results of the educational projects already undertaken by Akatu, with the participation of Braskem, HP and Mondelez Brasil. The program will receive support from the Cargill Foundation to develop new content.

Special Participation in Culture The Cambambe Hydroelectric Facility contract, currently being completed by Odebrecht Infrastructure, took part in the 4 th Dondo Fair in Angola. Held from August 31 to September 1, the cultural event is considered one of the country’s most important and the topic of this edition was Memory and History.

During the exhibit, there was the presentation of the progress made by the Cambambe Expansion and Modernization Program, the social actions developed by Xalenu Kyambote – an Odebrecht social responsibility initiative in Cambambe – as well as Believe, the continued professional qualification program focused on the communities located near the construction work.

On August 31, the country’s Ministry of Culture, Rosa Cruz e Silva, as well as the Governor of the North Kwanza Province, Henrique Júnior, opened the event to the sound of the Xalenu Kyambote choir, complete with the sound of abatuques and marimbas (traditional instruments in the country).

The minister took advantage of the occasion to visit the Cambambe Fort, built during the 17 th century, and also to announce the partnership between the Ministry of Culture, National Electricity Company (ENE) and Odebrecht to restore the monument. The initiative seeks to preserve history, architecture and local culture to leave a legacy for new generations. “After the construction work is completed, the Cambambe Fort will be useful for conducting different studies, holding social activities and also for promoting the training of youth,” said Rosa Cruz e Silva.

Contributing toward Environmental Preservation In honor of Tree Day, celebrated on September 21, the Sustainability area at Itaipava Arena Pernambuco – an Odebrecht Properties asset – offered Members a different kind of programming.

A lecture was held on September 20 in the arena auditorium that addressed issues such as the role trees play in the Environment and the importance of recycling paper.

After the presentation, Members had the chance to plant their own Ipê Amarelo and Pau-Brasil tree seedlings around the arena.

A Different Path for Fish Headed by Odebrecht Infrastructure, the Santo Antônio Civil Consortium (CSAC) completed the rock excavation work for the second construction phase of the Fish Transfer System (STP), located along the right bank of the Madeira River.

Some 30,000 cubic meters of rock were excavated from a channel extending approximately 200 meters long.

After the excavations, the rock treatment activities were completed using anchor bolts and the laying of shotcrete along the channel walls. After this phase was finished, construction work began for a 51.30-meter cofferdam. The structure is designed to stop the water that passes through the STP from interfering with the construction work in the river bed.

The new feature for this service front

was the use of the recycled rubber covers during the rock disassembly. Wendel Oliveira, responsible for the Land and Rock area, explained further: “The technology was adopted to cover the sites that would be detonated, thereby preventing the faraway launch of rock fragments that could reach the Transmission Lines that cross the dam,” he said. Sales Siqueira dos Santos is one of the Members who performs the laying of the shotcrete. “I feel important due to the work I do and am honored to be part of this team, which is like our second family,” said Santos.

The second phase of the STP construction work includes a new entrance in the Madeira River bed, designed for the fish located downstream for their transfer in the direction of the reservoir.

At the end of the Street Cleaning Volunteer Effort, 210 kilos of solid waste was collected within a area of approximately 1,700 square meters

Members of the Vias Novas de Lima Consortium, of Odebrecht Infrastructure at Peru, organized the 1 st Street Cleaning Volunteer Effort, in San Juan de Miraflores neighborhood.

The action was held on September 21 and gathered some 60 people at seven strategic points in Lima.

The activity was part of the cleaning campaign Hazlo por tu Calle (“Do

It For Your Street�), also organized

by Members. The idea is to promote responsible attitudes in the areas neighboring the project related to the disposal of solid waste.

There was the distribution of garbage bags in the neighborhood to facilitate disposal by the residents, and assistance was provided by the municipal public cleaning service.
