Odebrecht TransPort Officially Assumes BR-163 Highway

O

n March 12, Odebrecht TransPort signed the BR-163 concession contract with the Bahia State Government to officially begin the 30-year administration of the highway, located in Mato Grosso. The concessionaire was named Rota do Oeste and will be responsible for the duplication, recovery, conservation and maintenance of the road along the 850.9-km stretch between the city of Sinop and the state’s border with Mato Grosso do Sul. The contract was signed by Paulo Meira Lins, President and CEO of Rota do Oeste, during a ceremony held at Planalto Palace in Brasília, with Brazilian President

Dilma Rousseff, and the Minister of Transport, César Borges. “We have a big challenge in Mato Grosso and we are already mobilizing the team for our office in the capital city of Cuiabá,” said Paulo Meira Lins. Odebrecht TransPort won the contract for BR-163 in November 2013, with a bid of R$ 0.026 per kilometer (km) to be charged to drivers in the form of a toll, which represents a difference of 52.03% with relation to the top amount of R$ 5.55 established in the call for tender.

DAWN OF NEW START During the 30 years of the concession, the highway will receive investments of R$ 4.6 billion. During

Edition No. 321 of Odebrecht News reveals information about the BR-163 Highway and Gale茫o bidding processes the first five years, when R$2.4 billion will be invested, plans include the duplication of a 453.6-km stretch between the border of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul and the city of Rondon贸polis, in addition to the Imigrantes Highway (MT-407). In all, there will be nine toll plazas that will begin to operate after the installation of the operational services and when at least 10% (45.3 km) of the duplication work under the responsibility of Rota do Oeste is complete. The concessionaire will generate 3,000 direct job opportunities

during the peak of the construction work and another 500 during its operation, prioritizing the contracting of local labor. The construction work will begin after obtainment of the Installation Permit. The initial work, which involves the recovery of the pavement and signs, cleaning and reinforcement of the right-ofway, should begin soon and will be concluded during the first year of the concession. At the same time, the National Transport Infrastructure Department (DNIT) finished duplicating 114 km

of highway and working to deliver another 281 km of duplicated streets. The maintenance and conservation of this stretch will be transferred to the concessionaire after the conclusion of the construction work, within up to four years. Rota Oeste will also implement

from the Central-West Region, which accounts for 30% of all national production. The stretch corresponding to the concession traverses 19 municipalities, including cities that form Mato Grosso’s production center, such as Sinop, Sorriso, Lucas do Rio Verde and Nova Mutum.

a road safety plan that will offer drivers medical attention and a 24hour mechanic, as well as camera surveillance every two kilometers. Some services for users, such as the ambulance and tow truck, will begin to be offered within up to six months. The contract also includes the installation of side roads and urban bridges, walkways, roundabouts and other projects designed to help improve access.

The company conducted studies that recognized the potential of the local agribusiness sector, considering primarily the state’s GDP, which is growing more than Brazil’s GDP as a whole. With the new contract for BR163, Odebrecht TransPort now administers 1,550 kilometers of highways in Brazil. The 700 current kilometers under its management are divided into six concessions, located in São Paulo, Bahia Pernambuco and Rio de Janeiro. The D. Pedro I (SP-065) Highway, located in rural São Paulo, was classified as the 3rd best in the country in 2013, according to a National Traffic Confederation survey.

MAXIMIZED POWERS The BR-163 Highway receives some 72,000 vehicles each day and plays an important role in the country’s logistics infrastructure. It is the main means for the transport of the agricultural production

The Aeroporto Rio de Janeiro S/A Concessionaire - formed by Odebrecht TransPort, Changi Airports International (Singapore) and INFRAERO - is waiting until the start of April to sign the concession contract for the Tom Jobim International Airport (Galeão) in Rio de Janeiro. The consortium won the bid held by the Brazilian Federal Government in November 2013, and will be responsible for the expansion, maintenance and operation of Galeão for a 25-year period. The concessionaire’s administration

8

work will begin at one of the country’s most important airports in August, after the 2014 World Cup games. The consortium will not be directly involved with the construction work for the event, which remains under the responsibility of INFRAERO, a Brazilian federal public company that administrates the country’s main airports. However, following up on its commitment to promote immediate improvements for Galeão passengers, the consortium will begin a series of measures still during the transition period, which

begins with the signing of the contract. “We are working hard to support INFRAERO to ensure that the operation during the World Cup is successful,” said Luiz Rocha, President of the concessionaire. “We want to help consolidate Rio de Janeiro as a global tourism destination and one of the main ports of entry into Brazil and Latin America,” he said. The first phase of the Immediate Action Plan will be concluded by June and will involve improvements in the sectors of

cleaning, security, lighting, food services and commerce. The concessionaire will also revitalize the signs, boarding gates, check-in sites, bathrooms and free Wi-Fi network. After the start of the operation, the concession’s biggest investments will be made by 2016. Galeão will receive 26 new departure bridges, an expanded airfield, new spaces in the vehicle parking lot, in addition to the construction of a garage building and commercial area with triple the space as the current one.

A total of R$ 4.9 billion will be invested in Galeão over the 25-year concession

Odebrecht Immerses Itself in Peruvian Culture

The Peru Country Brand can be used by the Organization on printed and electronic materials, including on the social networks and at events

Odebrecht recently received the license to use the Peru Country Brand from the Peruvian Commission for the Promotion of Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ). The initiative is part of a strategy undertaken by the country to

economic and social growth of the local communities. “The Peru Country Brand demonstrates that we are part of the values, and primarily, the national identity of the country. It is a major

drive tourism and exports and attract investors, while also recognizing foreign companies that have made an effort to become integrated with the Peruvian culture. The use of the symbol was granted to the Organization’s Businesses that operate in the country in recognition of Odebrecht’s 35 years of continuous work in Peru, to be applied at projects that have significantly supported the

responsibility that we have assumed with seriousness and commitment,” said Boleira. The Organization is currently participating in important infrastructure projects in Peru, such as the Lima Subway - Stretch 2 - Line 1; Rutas de Lima; Chaglla Hydroelectric Power Plant; Olmos Irrigation; Chavimochic Irrigation and Muelle de Minerales.

Advancement for the Energy Sector On February 27, Odebrecht Infrastructure Brazil began the electromechanical assembly of Power House 5 (GG5) at the Santo Antônio Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP), currently being built in the bed of the Madeira River in Rondônia. GG5 is the plant’s last Power House to be assembled. Renato Alonso, the professional responsible for Assembly, pointed out that this is a representative milestone for the development. “It is the start of the electromechanical assembly for one of the plant’s last Generator Units,” said Alonso. The activities began with the installation of the first sectors of ferrules that make up the Suction Tubes at Generator Unit 45. The part helps return

the water to the bed of the river after it passes through the turbine. The Suction Tube weighs 40 tons and is formed by four to five metallic ferrules, which are pre-assembled and then transported to the Power House for final installation. GG 5 is formed by six Generator Units and is part of the Santo Antônio HPP expansion project. When concluded, it will have 418 Megawatts of installed power, energy that will be distributed to the Regional System (Acre and Rondônia). At the end of the construction work, the Santo Antônio HPP will operate with 3,568 Megawatts of installed power, and will have enough energy to meet the demand of some 45 million people.

Corinthians Arena Almost Ready for Delivery On February 10, the last metallic module was installed on the roof of the Corinthians Arena, currently being built by Odebrecht Infrastructure - Brazil in São Paulo. Weighing 420 tons, the part was hoisted by two high capacity cranes over the grandstand of the North sector – the site of an accident in November 2013. After concluding this phase, the

This combination of good practices earned the Itaipava Arena Fonte Nova grass field the top ranking during the 2013 Confederations Cup

Technology for the Field Itaipava Arena Fonte Nova – an Odebrecht Properties asset – has invested in a new technology to care for the grass field: Stadium Grow Lighting (SGL) Equipment. The lighting system allows for an improved percentage of root growth, fastening and traction for the grass field. The SLG panels are aligned at specific points along the field, primarily at the edges, and complement the solar radiation at these sites. Their role is to increase the strength of the stretches of grass where it is applied, resulting in a more accelerated vegetative and root growth. “In other words, it means that the growth of the grass is not paralyzed and ensures that it undergoes photosynthesis, accelerating its recovery even more,” explained Ricardo Novelino, Agronomic Engineering of Itaipava

Arena Fonte Nova and responsible for caring for the grass field. This technology, associated with the intensification of certain maintenance practices, allows the plant to reduce its energy use during the photosynthetic process. This is also possible due to the technology that monitors variations in soil temperature promoted by air insufflation (SubAir) into the root. From May 21 to July 11, the period reserved for the preparation and holding of the 2014 World Cup, the operation of Itaipava Arena Fonte Nova will fall under FIFA’s responsibility. It is expected that Fonte Nova Negócios e Participações will resume the arena’s operation on July 12.

The public will be able to choose between four panel options for the facade of Gabriele Station

Illustrated Facade Gabriele Station – an Odebrecht Realizações Imobiliárias development in São Paulo – will receive a 25-m² panel created by urban artist Flavio Samelo on the front of the building facing the street Avenida Roberto Marinho. The initiative is designed to bring more art to the region, encouraging the implementation of other actions like this one. Flavio Samelo seeks inspiration in the skateboarders’ movements, in the graffiti found on the walls and in other elements of São Paulo. The visual artist uses photographs as the base for his paintings, transcending the limits of the image through the use of shapes, colors and lines. The initiative is aligned with the proposal for the Gabriele Station, which was designed for a modern public, one that values the conveniences of

16

mobility and the services offered by the region. The development, which was launched on March 15, has a tower with 398 units, including a studio (ranging from 36 to 38.5m²), suite (42m²) and duplex (56.5m² and 67.5 m²). It presents a unique facade consisting of louvres (aluminum slat plates) that allow residents to move them to enhance the privacy of the environment. The project also has public spaces and those designed for well-being, as well as an exclusive meeting room where residents will be able to receive clients for business meetings.

Ready to Serve On March 18, SuperVia – an Odebrecht TransPort company responsible for operating the railroad passenger transport system in Rio de Janeiro – began operating the first national train from the new fleet. The inaugural trip included a group of passengers that use SuperVia on a daily basis. Sergio Luiz, invited through the SuperVia Phone, emphasized that the company’s service definitely improved. “I’m a passenger and I observe everything,” he said. “The new train is just wonderful; it’s more spacious and quite comfortable.” Dinarte Rodrigues, also a regular user and invited for the first trip in the new set of trains, praised the care taken with the population. “I am thankful for the investment being made to better serve us,” she said. The group was accompanied by Rio de Janeiro State Governor Sérgio Cabral; Vice Governor Luiz Fernando de Souza Pezão; State Secretary of Transport, Júlio Lopes; President of Alstom do Brasil, Marcos Costa; Executive Director of Odebrecht TransPort, Paulo Cesena; and the President of SuperVia, Carlos José Cunha.

“When we began working on SuperVia three years ago, we knew that the new trains were scheduled to arrive until 2016 and the benefits we would like to offer passengers would not be something immediate,” said Paulo Cesena. “Today, it brings us great joy to be able to begin circulating the new fleet four years ahead of schedule,” he said.

The new composition, which belongs to the 4,000 Series manufactured by Alstom in Brazil, has circulated under “assisted operation” mode from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. from Monday-Friday

trains or for the transport of ethanol along Brazil’s coast, as well as the hydric and energy challenges the country faces. This year, the new feature at the ceremony was that the participants were surprised, not knowing the classification of their projects beforehand. The emotion lasted until the winners were announced, from fifth to first place. Paul Altit, Entrepreneurial Leader at Odebrecht Realizações Imobiliárias, delivered the award to the fifth-placed group that developed the project “Acoustic Mobile Sunshade.” The work

proposes a sustainable solution for thermal, acoustic and visual comfort in urban buildings. Students Marcelo Langner, Odoni Antonio Rushel Junior and Patricia Soares Teixeira, advised by Professor Egon Vettorazi, from Cataratas Dynamic University Center (UDC), are also two-time champions of the award. They won the 2012 edition with the work “Solar Control Rod.” “I can see that participating in the award, besides just increasing their knowledge, also helped the students develop. They acquire a critical vision and also present works with much stronger argumentation. Probably, the initiative will influence their entire professional career, while also opening the doors to good work opportunities,” explained Egon Vettorazi. Felipe Jens, Entrepreneurial Leader at Odebrecht Properties, announced fourth place, which went to the work “Analysis of the Economic Feasibility of Environmental Certification of Housing Developments of Social Interest in the Metropolitan Region of Salvador,” by Angelo Caldas Bello and Vanessa Freitas, from the Federal University of Bahia, with advisory by Professor Dayana Bastos Costa. The project proposes improvements when adopting

HIS projects based on the criteria established by the environmental certification Blue Home Seal, a classification developed by the Brazilian government-owned bank Caixa Econômica Federal. The work “Evaluation of the Fuel Properties of Condensation Generated by Unserviceable Tire Pyrolysis,” by student Camilla Fernandes de Oliveira and with advisory by Professor Ronaldo Gonçalves dos Santos, from the FEI University Center, earned third place and was announced by Paulo Cesena. The study promotes the appropriate disposal of tires for their thermal degradation through the process of pyrolysis – the breakdown of molecules – resulting primarily in a condensate that can replace oil-derived fuels. André Amaro, Executive Director of Odebrecht Defesa e Tecnologia, granted second place to the project “Solar Wall: a Sustainable Solution for Heating Water in Low Income Buildings,” by Rolf Helder Meneses, from the Military Engineering Institute (IME) and oriented by Major Carlos Vasconcellos. The work adopts solar energy as a source of clean and renewable energy and the wall as a means for conducting heat to the piping in order to heat water in low income buildings. MARACANÃ TOUR Before the award ceremony, the winning groups participated in the tourism tour available at Maracanã. They were able to learn a bit more about the history of the stadium that is so closely interwoven with Brazilian soccer. The visit was also guided by Julia Martins, responsible for the Sustainability area at Maracanã. Among the sustainable items found at the stadium, Martins presented the solutions designed to help save water and energy. To achieve a 30% reduction in water consumption, low flow urinals were installed, together with automatic shut-off faucets and discharge flushes with built-in boxes. In order to reduce energy use, Maracanã adopted light bulbs, reactors and more energy-efficient machinery with lower drops in voltage and conductor heating. As part of the operation, the stadium adopted lighting control for the different environments, elevators and escalators, as well as for the air conditioning and ventilation system. On February 21, Maracanã began the curbside collection of waste at the stadium and established a partnership with the Recycle Rio network – formed by five recyclable material collectors’ cooperatives located in the Northern Zone of Rio de Janeiro. In addition to the revenue generated with the recyclable materials that will be collected, the cooperative members will also have a monthly income that will help improve the workers’ quality of life. With these initiatives, Maracanã began the process of obtaining the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certificate – a tool for certification developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) that evaluates sustainable and high performance constructions.

will benefit some 100,000 people with the expansion of the sewage collection and treatment infrastructure in the Southern Region of Palmas, the city’s most low

income area and also the one with the highest population growth. Three Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) are under construction – Santa Bárbara, Santa Fé and

Taquari. Together, the three plants will have a capacity to treat 60 liters of sewage per second. At the same time, workers will install 290,000 meters of collection networks that will serve 13 neighborhoods, one of which is home to the largest concentration of commerce in Palmas. The construction work began in February and should be concluded during the second half of 2014. Southern Palmas has a high water table, which leads to the leakage of septic tank sewage during the rainy period. According to Mário Amaro, Senior Officer of Foz|Saneatins, the situation will be resolved with the arrival of the new networks. “Sanitation is health,” said Amaro. “The population served will enjoy an improved quality of life, reflected primarily in the health of the children, who are most impacted by waterborne illnesses,” he said.

together with community leaders from Palmas and leaders from Foz|Saneatins. “This will be the most important milestone of our administration,” said Carlos Amastha. “I am proud of the partnership with Foz|Saneatins,” he said. The mayor also highlighted that the schedule was pushed forward to first serve the Southern Region. “In this way, we are able to immediately benefit a higher number of people and we put those who really need it first, without negatively affecting the other areas of the capital,” said Amastha. The initiative is part of the city government’s Palmas Blue

More Sports for Pernambuco On February 24, Itaipava Arena Pernambuco and the U.S. NGO love.fútbol, inaugurated the multi-sports court in the community of São Lourenço da Mata, Pernambuco – the municipality where the arena is located. The project was promoted together with residents and received the support of the city government. The initiative required two months of construction and some 2,500 hours of volunteer work - considered a record among the projects developed by love.fútbol in Brazil. The community’s engagement in the project is a strategy for promoting the feeling of collective achievement. “The school drop out rate has already gone down with the presence of the court,” said Manoel Silva, co-founder of

the NGO in Brazil, referring to the public school neighboring the court, which serves approximately 300 students from the neighborhood. For Alexandre Gonzaga, President of Itaipava Arena Pernambuco, the creation of public spaces for the practice of sports is a way of contributing toward social development. “Soccer and all sports play an important role as a mobilizing instrument for social change,” he said. “As partners on this project, we want to cooperate to ensure that these transformations extend beyond the limits of the field itself.” In Pernambuco, love.fútbol also installed a field in the community of Várzea Fria, which is also located in São Lourenço da Mata and which represents the NGO’s first project in the country.

The conclusion of the project is scheduled for the second half of 2015. After the recovery, the mangrove area will increase from 2,000 m² to 30,000 m² and the sandbank area will be expanded from 17,000 m² to approximately 40,000 m²

Environmental Legacy The Rio Mais Concessionaire – responsible for building the Rio 2016 Olympic Park with the participation of Odebrecht Infrastructure - Brazil – began the activities to recover the Side Protective Zone (FMP) at Jacarepaguá Lake, located in Rio de Janeiro. The project is designed to ensure the ecological restructuration of the area that outlines the Olympic Park. The project is signed by the company Embyá, and involves the participation of Manglares and ECP. Approximately 70,000 m², which have been degraded due to urban occupation, will be recovered through the planting of native mangrove and sand bank vegetation. In January, workers set up greenhouses consisting of five shallow pools at the FMP to cultivate seedlings of the Red Mangrove species. Starting in September, native seedlings will be planted along the sand bank stretch, including trees typically found in the Atlantic Forest. “We plan to create a balanced and diversified ecosystem in the region,” explained Cristina

54

Campolina, Sustainability Manager at Rio Mais. “The new mangrove forests will help improve the water quality, combat soil erosion and also promote the reappearance of fauna. “The sandbank will have a variety of native vegetation types, including creeping plants, trees, bushes and flowers,” said Campolina. The initiative also includes the protection of the side zone against garbage brought in by the tides. “Eco-barriers will be installed to prevent larger trash from reaching the recovery sites,” said Mário Moscatelli, the head technician for the project. The recovery of the Jacarepaguá Lake FMP consists of eight different stages: area diagnosis, removal of non-native vegetation; adjustment of the terrain topography; identification of the species to be transplanted and their level of development; seedling production and the planting, monitoring and maintenance of the species.
