Hey Snow Leopards! I hope everyone is adjusting well into the new school year and excited for what’s to come! It’s been an exciting experience to be working with the DLT! As News Editor, I will strive to improve my way of delivering graphics and writing by learning as time goes by. I want to make sure that what I make will look great and pleasing for others to read! I also incorporated some of my own graphics in some of the pages, which is always fun for me to make! I really want to emphasize on making original work for our division newsletters to make it look unique and interesting. I encourage you all to find something you’d like to improve on, even if they are small steps. By working on something and learning along the way, it benefits us most to know what will work out and what won’t. Most importantly, don’t forget to find ways on getting more involved in your club! We are starting off the new school year, and it would be beneficial to start recruiting new members around this time. Also adding in that our monthly newsletters are always in need of articles and visuals, so don’t be afraid to submit one in! In this issue of Leaping into the News, you will find out about the DLT’s experience in their positions, some spotlight questionnaire, articles from your division, our division goals, updates, award recipients, and recaps. Happy Reading!

Serving with Gratitude,

2021-2022 News Editor

What’s up D24/29! I hope everyone enjoyed their summer and are beginning to adjust to the new school year! We are nearly half way through the term and are quickly approaching dues season. With that being said, please take advantage of all of the opportunities that Key Club has to offer. Attend club meetings, service events, Division Council Meetings and more, to get the best experience possible. Now that September has begun, please invite your friends and peers to join our amazing organization! Show them the great benefits that come along with joining and show them how they can make a difference in our community! September leads us to one of our biggest events of the year, Region Training Conference. Stay tuned for more details on this year’s RTC! Our September DCM is also approaching very quickly and will be held within the next couple of weeks. Make sure to check your emails for any updates. Please remember that all members, officers, and advisors are welcome to attend our DCMs. I hope everyone had a blast at our August DCM and got to enjoy the food and the different service projects! Now that we’re transitioning from a virtual to in person setting, remember to stay safe, take care of yourself by taking breaks and feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions, comments or concerns whether it’s about Key club or non-Key Club related. I can’t wait to meet more of you in person! See you soon Snow Leopards!

Leaping through Service,

2021-2022 Lieutenant Governor

Hey Snow Leopards! For most of us, school has already begun and the academic year has gotten started. Although things are starting to kick into gear and stress is starting to rev up, I think we should remember how awesome Key Club will be this year! We will finally have an in person DCM this year! We've all been trying to make it work and get hours for our club and community. It's really important we keep spreading the word about Key Club and our organization. Fall Rally is also coming up so we must make sure we all stay active in our clubs! This year will be an amazing one filled with service and fun!

2021-2022 Executive Assistant

Hey Snow Leopards! Can’t believe it has already been a month since I first introduced myself! Just wanted to update you guys on some things I have been working on to help organize and coordinate events along with our Lieutenant Governor and our other Executive Assistant. As you may know, we have been working on organizing in person DCM’s that go according to state guidelines. Also, making the sign-up sheets to reserve a seat for everyone that comes. I have also been trying to promote Key Club, so others are aware of the club, with the intention of gaining more key club members. I have also been learning many new things, like filling out forms and gathering and recording a lot of information from clubs. All in all, I am very happy to be here and serve you guys!

Hey Snow Leopards! I am very excited to get the school year started and hopefully see an increase in activity across many of our clubs. As the Media Editor, I can't wait to read what each club has been up to and offering those events a spotlight so that each club can get some inspiration and recognition. This year has taught me a lot about staying connected and I am working on finding new ways to make Division updates and information easily accessible, as well as helping you feel connected to resources that can help you if you ever get discouraged or have questions about Key Club. I hope to soon feature projects across our division, get you connected with ideas for volunteer opportunities, and provide new platforms for communication. Thank you to everyone for all of the work you do!

2021-2022 Media Editor

Hey Snow Leopards! I am so excited to finally be able to attend an in-person DCM, and most importantly, ecstatic to meet the amazing people of this division. I know how hard everyone has been working to get their hours in and I encourage everyone to either keep going or even spread the word and encourage others to join Key Club. As all of you are working hard to make this organization flourish, your DLT is working hard to make this one of the best years and a year with new opportunities to help those in our community. I am also anticipating Fall Rally which is an event at Magic Mountain where qualifying Key Clubbers go out to show their spirit! So, I encourage all of you to participate in Key Club as much as possible in order to not only go to Fall Rally, but help Key Club have its best year yet! Can’t wait to see what this year will bring us!

Hey Snow Leopards! As the school year commences, we are in the process of planning and beginning to organize division fundraisers. Although we have a list of potential fundraising projects we plan to pursue at the division level in the future, namely ticket raffle, division hike, virtual escape room, bingo night, etc. among the most viable options, we are currently just starting off by planning a restaurant fundraiser with a few of our local fast food joints. We are planning to organize dates on different locations for the various cities that make up our division, so that all members have a reasonably short travel distance to the specified locations in which a percent of the proceeds will go towards division funds. Thank you.

2021-2022 Fundraising Coordinator

Hey Snow Leopards! My name is Howard Sardina and I am a sophomore at Pioneer Valley and I am happy to serve as your member recognition coordinator for the 2021-2022 year! This is going to be my second year of key club. Other than this club, I have been busy with football and the Panther Tales website. I also enjoy many things which includes cars, sneakers, and any physical activities such as sports. I look forward to this year and knowing many of you key clubbers! Here’s to a great year!

Hey Snow Leopards! My name is Veronica Garcia and I’m proud to be serving as this year's Spirit Coordinator! I am so grateful I got this position because I am the most bubbliest, excited and spirited person you could ever meet! So I think this position fits me perfectly! This year myself and the rest of the DLT have so much in store! I’m ready to make this year fun and exciting by creating chants and making service projects entertaining and fun! I can’t wait to meet all of you and form connections with as many of you as I can! And remember, Go Snow Leopards!

I would rather live in cold weather because I find the activities for staying warm (bundling up, having warm drinks, etc.) to be much more enjoyable than activities for staying cool (like going in the water or wearing fewer layers). I also really love when it rains, which tends to come along with colder weather. - Sasha Oquendo, Atascadero VP I would rather live in the cold because I think the clothing that you could wear is much more comfortable. Also, the cold day foods are definitely more comforting to me than hot day foods. Plus, if I lived in the cold, I feel that I could forget about the imminent dangers of global warming! - Clara Landeros, SLO President & Executive Assistant If I could eliminate anything it would be vice, as all evil and suffering in the world, in part, stem from some sin committed by another being. In addition, I assume people would be much happier if they no longer bared the guilt of past sins, and so too would the victims of those sins. - Benjamin Choi, Fundraising Coordinator

I consider human beings as unique because of the different traits and qualities that makes someone special. It does not matter if someone is different, but that just makes someone unique and I consider that special. - Howard Sardina, Member Recognition Coordinator

Service Apps Provided by Jeremy Lee Oani (ERHS) With the 2021-2022 school year coming up and summer coming to a close, the ERHS Key Club have started to make plans for service opportunities during the year. We have already planned out one service opportunity later on August 27 called the Honkey-Tonk Fundraiser Dinner. This will be our first person contact service event in a while ever since the pandemic. We will be helping prepare and serve food. Throughout the month we have continued to get our service hours in through the Free Rice app and the Charity Miles app. The Free Rice app allows us to donate food to those in need around the world just by answering simple vocabulary questions. With the Charity Miles app, we are able to earn service hours by gaining mileage through walking, running, or jogging. We are very excited for the upcoming school year as we will be able to complete much more than last year due to the pandemic. Go Warriors!

Service Week Provided by Nathaniel De Francia (PVHS) A service project that our school decided to do was to partake in a service week. A service week is when each day there is a new service opportunity to receive volunteer hours. Our President Alexandra said it would be a great idea for us to have a service week because school is right around the corner. The Service Week is shown as the following: Monday Written Affirmations which is to create a nice letter for someone, Tuesday is Free Rice which is to answer questions and help those who live in hunger, Wednesday is Charity Miles which you can do any form of exercise to raise money for charity, Thursday is Pause for which you pause for a certain amount of time to help different organizations, and finally Friday which is UNICEF Math. Overall, this Back to School- Service Week will be a great help to those who are in need of volunteer hours and a great way to give back to those in need!

July DCM Provided by Finn Westley (SLOHS) Our monthly DCM meeting for July coincided with Key Club's annual Officer Training Conference (OTC) this year. OTC (themed Olympics-TC) was shared by divisions 42 east and west as well as our very own division 24/29. Hundreds of Key Club members participated in workshops in breakout rooms on July 17; officers learned about their roles from experts and members could choose to learn about the basics of Key Club as well as how to receive member recognition and improve their club. This was mixed in with icebreakers, games, and our July DCM where we received quick updates from each of our member clubs and talked about the upcoming Service Week. Attending DCMs creates great bonds with other Key Club members and helps you develop leadership skills. We value your presence and hope to see you this month!
