OVERNMENT has denied claims that the Saudi Arabia goat export programme has delayed because some officials who are supposed to implement it have an interest in
being suppliers, saying the delays were as a result of the Covid-19. Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Permanent Secretary Benson Mwenya said the project is on course and open to anyone with the capacity of supplying the goats.

Prior to this appointment, he served as Director Enterprise Development. Mr. Makasa brings to the role a wealth of international development and strategic leadership experience spanning several countries. Prior to ZDA, he worked for the International Development Enterprises (IDE), an international non-governmental organisation in various senior management portfolios namely: Africa Region Manager at the international office in the United Kingdom, Regional Development Officer at the Africa Office in Zimbabwe, Country Director for Zimbabwe and Operations Manager in Zambia. Before joining IDE, he served as Farm Manager and Hybrid Poultry Farm Trainee Manager at Honda Farms. He holds a Master’s Degree in Agriculture from the Agrarian University in Bulgaria and a Degree in International Development from Andrews University in the United States of America.
