he Department of Agrarian Reform Gender and Development (GAD) mainstreaming Team in the province of Agusan del Norte conducted a two-day Healthy Lifestyle Awareness Seminar held at DAR conference room last January 25, 2017. Over fifty DAR employees fulfilled their commitment to mainstream the GAD plans and programs for the Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs). The seminar aimed to strengthen municipal women desk in the municipal agrarian offices in the province. GAD coordinator Ellen J. Torralba said, “this activity is in support to the

implementation of GAD thrust and directives under the new DAR Secretary Rafael Mariano” “The care of the health of DAR employees and also the agrarianbeneficiaries is a concern of the DAR management, Torralba added.” PARPO II Andre B. Atega commended the GAD Team and look forward to forging more collaborative activities to the benefit the agrarian-beneficiaries. DAR employees were mobilized to share their time to ensure the implementation of programs for women.

DAR AgNor celebrates national women’s month

P

rovincial Agrarian Reform in Agusan del Norte joined the nation in celebrating the women’s month with the theme “We Make Change Work for Women” In line with the worldwide observance of the International Women’s month (IWD) in March.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Andre B. Atega recognized the effort of the women personnel in DAR particularly on the activities that recognized the women Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries’ (ARBs’) efforts to uplift their rights and welfare and contribute to rural development. The activities highlighted with a motorcade, ARB products trade fair, ARBs’ Forum, Gender

and Development seminar like Gender Sensitivity and DAR women’s Entrepreneurship Seminar involving some women ARBs. Personnel Officer and GAD Point Person Ellen J. Torralba said that the activities are good avenue for women to attain equality and empowerment and actively participate in decisionmaking.

The opening of women’s month brings an opportunity to the women agrarianbeneficiaries to sell their products from various agrarian reform communities reaching the shelves of various consumers in the province.

Farmer Organizations enhance polic y on credit under APCP

he Provincial Agrarian T Reform Office of Agusan del Norte conducted training

on Credit and Lending Policy Crafting and Enhancement for the leaders of five selected Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organizations (ARBOs) from different agrarian reform communities in the province of Agusan del Norte held last March 16-17, 2017 in Butuan City. More than sixty participants comprised of coop leaders and officers participated in the training, which was designed to enhance the participants’ ability to manage credit operation. The five ARBOs included Rosario Agrarian Reform Cooperatives (RARC); Jaguimitan Farmers Cooperative; San Antonio Integrated Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative; Palmavera Small Coconut Farmer Beneficiaries Cooperative; and Tagbuyacan Farmers Marketing Cooperative. 6

The said five ARBOs are among the few ARBOs who qualified the government credit program to agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) having the capability to extend credit to their members. APCP Coordinator Luningning Buque-Ycoy said that the agency intensifies its effort in evaluating proposal for credit to ARBs under the DAR’s Agrarian Production Credit Program (APCP) in partnership with the Department of Agriculture and Land Bank of the Philippines. According to Luningning Buque-Ycoy that the activity was designed to formulate a policy related to credit and lending operation of the said cooperatives. “The activity also assessed and reviewed the cooperative’s existing practices and how to address some problems they encountered related to credit and lending services to its members,” Ycoy added.

AgNor Agrarian Organizations complete Financial Management training The Provincial Agrarian Reform office of Agusan del Norte conducted two sessions of seminars on Financial Management to twentyeight Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) from different agrarian reform communities in the province held recently at Luciana Convention, Butuan City. About eighty participants consisted of coop officers, admin staffs who acted as Manager, treasurer, bookkeeper, cashier, among others participated in the proceedings.
