D

epartment of Agrarian Reform in Agusan del Norte distributed a total of 21-hectare agricultural land to twelve Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) during the celebration of the “Serbisyo Peace Caravan 2016”. The distribution coincides with the 2016 National Peace Consciousness Month held at Jabonga town on September 30, 2016. Planning Officer Annelyn Chan said that the distribution of titles is part of showing support to the government various services aimed to continue peace and

development in the countryside. “We are strongly supporting the said event as part of our efforts to provide support and legal services of the Department of Agrarian Reform and the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP),” Chan added. According to Jabonga Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer (MARPO) Vicente Magallon, the farmer-beneficiaries of Barangays Cuyago, Magsaysay and San Vicente in Jabonga are now the owners of the land awarded to them under CARP. titles / page 7 >>>

DAR AgNor, DTI team up for marketing & Customer Relationship Management seminar

T

he Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Agusan del Norte and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) have combined their resources and expertise in successfully conducting the two-batches of seminar on Marketing and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) to two farmer-groups last August 10 and 12, 2016. About 55 participants consisting 32 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) and 23 non-ARB members attended the seminar from Simbalan Rubber Farmers Inc. (SRFI) of Buenavista and United Farmers of Cuyago, Inc. (UFCI) of Jabonga town. DAR-ADN point person, Lucio Juni, pointed out that the training is intended for the farmer-members of UFCI which is into Moringa (malunggay) Powder production operating in Jabonga and SRFI which is producing Rubosta coffee (barako coffee) in

DAR AgNor provides free legal ser vices to Jabonga far mers

T

he Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Agusan del Norte held Legal Aid Services to farmer-beneficiaries during the “Peace Month Serbisyo Caravan”, spearheaded by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP), and local government of Jabonga held at Brgy. Baleguian, Jabonga on September 30, 2016. During the event, the DAR legal team spent hours of free consultation to give legal advice to some farmer-beneficiaries in Jabonga. The team was composed of some legal expert of DAR Regional and Provincial offices contributed to the success of the event.

DAR AgNor Attorney III Reggie Saludo said that the legal clinic was to address the increasing land conflicts of the farmers especially the indigenous community in Jabonga. “This partnership with the national and local agencies enable us to help more farmer-beneficiaries secure their land,” Atty. Saludo said. According to Jabonga Vice Mayor Hon. Glicerio Monton, Jr., many of farmer-beneficiaries faces many challenges on the land they tilled and many farmland were left behind and became idle due to a major threat face by the farmerbeneficiaries and the government.

DAR AgNor offers credit support to farmer-organizations

T

he Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Agusan del Norte conducted series of Review and Assessment Workshop in line with the implementation of the Agrarian Production Credit Program (APCP) to nine selected Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organizations (ARBOs) from different municipalities in the province within the period of June to August, 2016. The DAR in this province, through the Program Beneficiaries Development Division personnel intensifies effort to fully implement the APCP by 2016, provided ample assistance to qualified Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) and ARBOs. The activity was undertaken to evaluate the ARBOs and its farmerbeneficiary members’ capacity to apply for loan to the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP). It also carried out the documentation and processing of the ARBOs’ required loan documents. Luningning B. Ycoy, DAR-APCP point person, said the workshop gathered the factual data on the status and capacity of the ARBOs to make them competent credit conduit.

APCP addresses crop financing needs of eligible ARBs and the DAR assists the ARBOs in facilitating the documentation and compliance of LBP required documents,” Ycoy said. “The DAR also determines the ARBOs’ repayment capacity of any loan applied for,” she added.

“The said farmer-beneficiaries were happy upon receiving their certificate of titles as their proof of ownership and they are hoping for more support services from the department to make the land productive,” Magallon added. Rodulfo Salas, one of the beneficiaries, expressed thanks to DAR. “Dako among pasalamat sa DAR sa titulo nga among nadawat”, (We are thankful to DAR for the land we received”,) Salas said. Jabonga Vice Mayor Hon. Glicerio Monton, Jr. reiterated that DAR played a key role in transferring the land in Jabonga to farmers under Certificate of Ancestral Domain Title (CADT).

Osa further expressed his belief that the training will greatly heighten their awareness and eventually be used for the improvement of their cooperative.
