Eli is a member of the International Casual Furniture Retailers Association and serves on several manufacturers’ dealer advisory committees. He is also a member of the International Casual Furniture Retailers Association’s Retail Council.

AM ABSOLUTELY THRILLED to be at Gasper and . doing a job that I love. To that end, I am very lucky that the Gasper family has supported me and all my efforts to revamp the furniture floor over the past year. They never hold me back from my artistic flare or from striving to bring in new and innovative product lines that not only excite me but would interest you, our homeowners, as well. When selecting products for the showroom, I have personally chosen each product, every manufacturer, each grouping, and each fabric down to the welt. The Gasper Exterior Furnishings Gallery is a total reflection of me and my love and understanding for this region and this industry. I believe we have assembled the finest group of manufacturers available in the region. From, teak and aluminum, to cast aluminum and synthetic wicker, we have all categories of the industry covered and on display.

Additionally, 2020 is such a special year for me. Besides being on several manufacturers’ dealer advisory committees, I have been appointed to serve on the prestigious International Casual Furniture Retailers Association Retail Council — a true honor. This appointment will allow me to work very closely with other retailers across the country to promote the industry and continue to bring you the newest and very best the industry has to offer.

For over 30 years I have helped clients throughout the region, including sport stars, celebrities and politicians, transform their outdoor living spaces into comfortable and fashionable retreats. They can each attest to my motto, Outdoor Couture. At Gasper I have compiled a team of extraordinary exterior designers who strive to make your outdoor space uniquely yours while keeping your personal preferences in mind. Using all the elements and materials available to us, we have learned to tell your story thru fabrics, fringes, cords and accents.

My team and I would love the opportunity to assist you with making your outdoor area special. Whether it is a Bucks County farmhouse, Main Line estate, Center City high-rise, Pocono mountain house, New Jersey shore home, and everything in between, my team at Gasper can do it all. Eli has been a part of the casual furniture business for over 30 years and he has managed all phases of casual furniture in the retail market including opening new stores for several retailers nationally, merchandising, staffing, designing and marketing.

A favorite color can be the start of a personal and effective furniture layout

HAT IS YOUR FAVORITE color?”

That is the first question Gasper exterior designer and furniture expert, Eli Hymer, loves to ask new clients. “It tells me so much about the person. I am always urging my clients not to be afraid of color. If they like it, I always try to find a way to work with it.” In Dana M.’s case, her favorite color was blue, so Eli constructed a palette of light teals, blues and greys for the furniture and accessories that he selected for Dana and Frank’s new Gasperbuilt patio. The color of the house, as well as the stone details on the fireplace and cook station, all factored into his design.

The recently completed multi-level paver patio had two distinct areas. The area adjacent to the large granite-countered cook station is mainly for dining. A smaller patio in front of the cast stone fireplace is planned primarily as a chat area.

Comfortable seating by the fireplace was particularly important to Frank. But, ironically, he admits that before the construction he really wasn’t much of a fireplace person. “I was not a fire guy.

Now that I have it, I love it. On cool nights I throw a few logs on and order a pizza. Nothing is better The KINGSLEY BATE FRANCES collection blends teak with a durable vinyl weave (in Willow with Sunbrella cushions) to make a sophisticated look that is comfortable and care-free. Next to the chair is a tile accent table (in Black Olive) from KNFNEILLE OLSON . These tables are handmade, elegant and timeless. Plus, no two are the same so it’s perfectly imperfect.

Made from 100% teak, this table, if left untreated, will weather naturally to a beautiful silver patina. The lightweight aluminum chairs have teak arms and are stackable, which make for easy storage when not needed.

than sitting back under the sky. We both enjoy it. It is so much better than an indoor fireplace, which we have and do not use,” Frank admits.

For the fireplace seating, Eli selected the Francis sectional by Kingsley Bate explaining, “Deep seating cushions are so comfortable you just sink right in. Plus, the synthetic wicker weave is very stylish.” Eli filled the sectional with plenty of Elaine Smith outdoor pillows in a cornucopia of different shades of blues and teals. “The pillows,” he explains, “are the lipstick! They totally make the look by giving just the right pop of color.”

Frank and Dana have a large, extended family that they enjoy entertaining on the patio. For this reason, Eli selected the Barlow Tyrie Aura dining set because it has an extension table that can be expanded when needed to accommodate more people. The lightweight aluminum chairs are stackable which make for easy storage when not in use. The Aura table is made from 100% teak which will weather naturally to a beautiful silver patina — perfect for a palette of grays and blues.

True story: When Eli suggested turning the new table 90 degrees, parallel to the house, Frank had a hard time believing that it would fit. Frank went home to measure the area and double-check. He discovered that — not only was it going to fit — it was going to fit well. There were no hard feelings on either side since one of Eli’s favorite mottos is “Measure all you want — placement is everything!”

The patio is perfectly sized for the KINGLSEY BATE Frances sectional couch and creates the perfect conversation nook in front of the wood burning cast stone fireplace.

The variegated iris planted in tall, rust-colored lava pots provides a perfect backdrop.

The coffee and accent tables, also by KINGSLEY BATE , pick up the same synthetic wicker styling and teak wood frames. A glass top makes the table surfaces perfectly level for setting down a drink or plate of food, and are very easy to clean if there are any mishaps.

The Gasper-built patio (above) is created with UNILOCK ’s Beacon Hill Flagstone bordered by their brick-like paver, Copthorne, in a mixed blend.

The Beacon Hill Flagstone paver has a beautiful finish that mimics the texture of natural stone and is available in many different colors such as Sierra (shown). The Estate wall block used for the steps is also shown in Sierra.

Add Your True Colors turning the table would make the patio look larger and grander. Plus, it opened up space to add two matching chaise lounges for additional seating. It was a win-win situation.

The teak wood accents are pulled through the design in the feet of the sectional and with a teak serving cart that Eli placed next to the cook station to pull all the elements together. The cart (by Kingsley Bate) is a great piece because it can be used to serve food or beverages and it has several built-in features, such as a wine bottle caddy, drop-leaves to expand the serving area, and a removable serving tray. Not only is it attractive, but it is superfunctional. Eli envisions Frank and Dana being able to move the cart to other areas of the patio, such as

not only attractive, but it is super-functional with many built-in features such as a wine bottle caddy, drop leaves to expand the serving area and a removable serving tray.

A three-tiered cast stone fountain, located in a niche of the house, adds the delightful sound of water to the patio.

By placing the new table 90-degrees, parallel to the house, (right and far right) Eli was able to better utilize the space of the patio and made room for two additional chaise lounges, also by BARLOW TYRIE . The bright teal umbrella gives the patio arrangement a big pop of color and ties together with the pillows on the sectional.

Eli considers this design transitional style, which is a marriage of traditional and contemporary. “No one is doing matchey-matchey anymore,” he declares. “The best course of action is to select different furniture pieces such as the synthetic weave sectional and the aluminum-teak dining set and then tie it all together with the finishes, fabrics and color.” Dana couldn’t agree more with the end product saying, “The furniture department at Gasper is such a blast to work with. Eli really listened to us. He was so creative and it was easy to see his vision for our home.”

Sunday April 5th 12:00am–3:00pm Transform your old furniture with new, sophisticated, outdoor, performance fabrics. Bring in your old cushions and we will size and measure them to guarantee the perfect fit.

I am starting to think spring, but when I inspected my packed-away cushions, I noticed there are gray and black spots on them. What is it and how can I get it off?

Black or gray spots are an indication of mold or mildew which often occurs when pads or cushions are put away for storage and are not completely dry. Mold or mildew spots can be removed following these easy steps: 1. Prepare a solution of 1 cup of bleach* and one fourth cup mild soap per gallon of water.

2. Spray on entire area and allow to soak into the fabric for 15 minutes.

3. Clean entire surface area with a sponge, clean towel or very soft bristle brush.

4. Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue.

5. Allow to completely air dry.

6. ENJOY! Your cushions should now be mold and mildew free.
