EDITORIAL Planned Parenthood sues to stop law banning aborting babies with Down syndrome - LifeSite News Be Lions as the Lion of Münster
Planned Parenthood’s latest legal action (LifeSite News) to try and stop law banning the abortion of babies with disabilities places it on a parallel with the policy of the Nazi party when it created the T4 program to terminate the lives of those considered to be sub-human or born with disabilities such as Down Syndrome. ‘The greatest generation’ fought with their lives to free the world of this Nazi tyranny. Within Germany itself, Count Clemens August von Galen, Bishop of Münster directly challenged Hitler over its T4 program by publicly denouncing the Nazi policy and doing all it could to protect the lives of innocent weaker human beings. In the midst of real death threats, Bishop Galen, the Lion of Münster, tenaciously resisted, famously uniting with and leading the people of Munster to be the ‘anvil’ that would endure and shape the ‘hammer’ blows of the Nazis. Though up to 80,000 people were killed between 1940-1941 as a result of the T4 program, Hitler in the face of the inspired opposition of Bishop Galen, finally suspended the program before his invasion of Russia. The lesson Bishop Galen teaches us today, both clergy and the laity, is that we too galvanised by an iron determination to resist, uniting together The Lion of Münster and steadfastly standing up to tyranny, though we may be the anvil, we Bishop Galen will surely overcome Planned Parenthood and the ‘culture of death’. History repeats itself and today those who love life have been given the extraordinary privilege to share with the Lion of Munster, Bishop Galen, the honour to unite together, defend and protect the weak, the unborn and the disabled.- Dayly Knightly On YouTube (English Subtitles) - The Church against Hitler (part 3) On YouTube (English Subtitles) - The Church against Hitler (part 4) Read also on Catholic Answers here

We don’t need anyone to tell us the truth. We know the truth. What we need is for faithful Catholics to stand up and say, “No. That’s wrong. That’s not the truth.” This is the advice from Bp. Rene Gracida, retired from the diocese of Corpus Christi, Texas, who has been an eyewitness to the demolition of the Faith during his 92 years. His Excellency insists that we have more than enough people in the Church — he singles out Cdl. Raymond Burke, for example — telling us what the truth is. But the missing ingredient is lay people standing up and calling out leaders who are teaching wrongheaded notions. To see and read more, please click here. Source Church Militant.

Canadian doctor: I’m a healer, not a government-paid executioner
A Canadian medical doctor is drawing a firm line in the sand on euthanasia and assisted suicide, stating that if forthcoming legislation to govern the practice forces doctors who are unwilling to help kill a patient themselves to refer them to someone who will, he will choose to follow the way of God rather than the way of Cesar.
Dr. Brad Burke, a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist based in southern Ontario, said that God’s commandment against murder is “certainly” relevant when it comes to a doctor administering death to a patient. “These are innocent people who are being killed. And for me, and for many others, I just can’t in my conscience before God, execute these people or send them to someone else who will,” he told LifeSiteNews in an exclusive video interview. “I went into medicine to be an instrument of God’s mercy and God’s grace, not to be a paid executioner for the Canadian government,” he said. The Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives recently held its first hearing on March 2 to examine the bioethics of fetal tissue harvesting and experimentation. The hearing included a review of the patient consent form used by Planned Parenthood to get permission to harvest aborted baby parts. The Planned Parenthood form promises pregnant women considering abortion that aborted fetal tissue “has been used to treat and find a cure for such diseases as diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, and AIDS.” No cures for these diseases are currently available, and no current therapies for them use aborted fetal tissue. At the hearing, Dr. Lawrence Goldstein, a scientist from the University of California at San Diego, was called by the Panel’s minority to testify in support of Planned Parenthood’s fetal tissue harvesting. Dr. Goldstein is a long-time financial donor to Planned Parenthood in San Diego, and uses aborted fetal brains and other body parts from the local Planned Parenthood. Under oath, Dr. Goldstein replied to a question from Planned Parenthood supporter Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ) this way: Watson Coleman: Do you believe that anything on that form is creating an undue hardship or intimidation or misrepresentation to women who are being asked to consider whether they will donate this tissue? Goldstein: If it’s the form that says, therapies for diseases such as Alzheimer’s and all the rest have already been found, I agree, that’s an inappropriate statement that should not have been made on that form. I don’t know who wrote it, that would not have made it past my IRB [Institutional Review Board] either. The Planned Parenthood fetal harvesting consent form is authored by Planned Parenthood Federation of America and provided to affiliates in its Manual of Medical Standards and Guidelines. “Planned Parenthood’s baby parts trafficking scheme cannot stand up to independent scrutiny. When a Planned Parenthood supporter and baby parts customer admits under oath that Planned Parenthood has been fraudulently inducing patient consent, it discredits all of Planned Parenthood’s assurances that their baby parts scheme has operated legally and above-board,” notes David Daleiden, CMP Project Lead. “Law enforcement in Planned Parenthood-friendly jurisdictions should stop wasting taxpayer resources to assist Planned Parenthood in harassing citizen journalists, and should stop ignoring the evidence of real fraud, baby body parts trafficking, and criminal abortion practices right in their own backyard.” #PPSellsBabyParts - Share this video.

Mizuko kuyō Zozoji Temple, Tokyo Mizuko kuyō (水子供養) or “fetus memorial service”, is a Japanese ceremony for those who have had a miscarriage, stillbirth, or abortion. This practice has become particularly visible since the 1970s with the creation of shrines devoted solely to this ritual. Reasons for the performance of these rites can include parental grief, desire to comfort the soul of the fetus, guilt for an abortion, or even fear of retribution from a vengeful spirit. - Source: Wikipedia Japan turns pro-life
History of Japan’s policy on abortions In 1948, the Eugenics Protection Act (EPA) was enacted. The purpose of the EPA was “preventing the births of offspring of inferior quality as well as protecting the health and well-being of maternity.” In 1952, the EPA was revised again to expand the conditions of abortions to include the so-called “economic cause”, authorizing abortions when “continuation of pregnancies jeopardize the health of mothers either physically or economically” (2). The “economic cause” was interpreted liberally and increased the number of abortions dramatically from 196,883 in 1949 to the peak of 1,170,134 in 1955. In the peak year of 1957, nearly 40% of pregnancies were aborted. Read more here.

7 Powerful Ways to Pray for Christians Suffering in the Middle East
It can seem hopeless reading these news reports of violence and persecution of Christians in the Middle East from afar. Is there anything we can do? Yes, and fortunately it’s one of the most powerful: prayer. There are obviously many ways to pray, and any prayer made in the name of Jesus is powerful. This is just a list of prayers that may be particularly effective or relevant to this situation. Some of the things listed here may make more sense for Christians who are part of older, more liturgical traditions (Catholics, Orthodox, Anglicans, etc.). But even if these particular recommendations don’t make sense for you, we can all be reminded and encouraged to keep praying for peace and security for all those affected by the violence in the Middle East, particularly our brothers and sisters in Christ. Catholic Truth THE CHURCH, PROLONGATION OF CHRIST’S MYSTERY. THE PRIMACY OF PETER (Liturgy - 3rd Sunday of Easter - Fr. Rolly Arjonillo) Dear brethren in Christ, today’s Sunday liturgy offers us an occasion to meditate on the theme of the MYSTERY OF THE CHURCH, THE PROLONGATION OF THE MYSTERY OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, IN WHICH WE HAVE BEEN INCORPORATED THROUGH THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM. During the 50-day Easter celebration, we are reminded that WE ARE LIVING MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH which is a community of RESPONSIBLE WITNESSES OF THE RESURRECTION AND THE SALVIFIC WORK OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WORLD. 1. This is why in the 1st Reading taken from the Acts of the Apostles 5: 27-32. 40-41, Peter and the Apostles, upon being prohibited by the Sanhedrin to preach in Jesus’ name replied: “We must obey God rather than men. The God of our ancestors raised Jesus, though you had him killed by hanging him on a tree. God exalted him at his right hand as leader and savior to grant Israel repentance and forgiveness of sins. We are witnesses of these things, as is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.” • Peter and the Apostles were aware of their responsibility to carry out the apostolic mission and authority received from Jesus to preach the Gospel in His Name. The Apostles where carrying out Jesus’ task of redemption and as such historically gave life to the early Church founded by Christ with them as pillars and the believers as a small community of witnesses of Christ, disposed to obey God before men. • The Church, as a prolongation of Christ’s mystery and His salvific mission, then grew as it is today, through the apostolic succession which remained unbroken throughout these 20 centuries, with Pope Francis succeeding Peter, as the Vicar of the Church, Jesus established with Peter as head. This fact remains more explicit in today’s Gospel. 2. Today’s Gospel taken from Jn 21:1-19 narrates the miraculous fraught of fish and Peter’s primacy. • The miraculous catch of the fish was the 3rd time Jesus revealed Himself to the Apostles after His Resurrection. The Gospel episode leads us to be convinced again that the Apostles are instruments of Jesus and their divine efficacy in their task as pillars of His Church derives from no other than Jesus Himself and the confirmation of their apostolic mission to cast the nets over all over the world to gain souls for Christ. • Furthermore, Jesus, who had earlier promised that Peter would be the primate of His Church(cf. Mt 16:1619 and note on same) now confers him the primacy he promised despite his three denials during our Lord’s Passion. St. Josemaria comments: “Jesus questions Peter three times, as if to give him a triple chance to atone for his triple denial. Peter has learned his lesson from the bitter experience of his wretchedness. Aware of his weakness, he is deeply convinced that rash claims are pointless. Instead he puts everything in Christ’s hands. ‘Lord, you know well that I love you’” (St. Josemaria, Friends of God, 267). • The primacy was given to Peter directly and immediately. So the Church has always understood — and so Vatican I defined: “We therefore teach and declare that, according to the testimony of the Gospel, the primacy of jurisdiction over the universal Church of God was immediately and directly promised and giv-
Catholic Truth en to Blessed Peter the Apostle by Christ our Lord. . . . And it was upon Simon Peter alone that Jesus after his Resurrection bestowed the jurisdiction of chief pastor and ruler over all his fold in the words: ‘Feed my lambs; feed my sheep” (1st Vatican Council, Pastor aeternus, chap. I). • The primacy is a grace conferred on Peter and his successors, the Popes; it is one of the basic elements in the Church, designed to guard and protect its unity: “In order that the episcopate also might be one and undivided, and that… the multitude of the faithful might be kept secure in the oneness of faith and communion, he set Blessed Peter over the rest of the Apostles, and fixed in him the abiding principle of this twofold unity, and its visible foundation” (Pastor aeternus, Dz-Sch 3051; cf. Vatican II, Lumen gentium, 18). Therefore, the primacy of Peter is perpetuated in each of his successors: this is something which Christ disposed; it is not based on human legislation or custom. • By virtue of the primacy, Peter, and each of his successors, is the shepherd of the whole Church and Vicar of Christ on earth, because he exercises vicariously (in the name and person of) Christ’s own authority. Love for the Pope, whom St Catherine of Siena used to call “the sweet Christ on earth”, should express itself in prayer, sacrifice and obedience. 3. In carrying out the salvific mission received from Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Church only seeks the glorification of the God the Father, through Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Paschal Lamb, a glorification which will be definite at the end of time, where his dominion will have no end, as narrated in the vision of St. John in the Book of the Revelation 5: 11-14: “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches, wisdom and strength, honor and glory and blessing.” Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, everything in the universe, cry out: “To the one who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor, glory and might, forever and ever.” • Christ, the Lamb, possess the seven attributes (power, riches, wisdom, strength, honor, glory and blessing) and all these point to the fact that He has everything that belongs to the Godhead. • The hymn addresses itself to the one seated on the throne (Godhead) and the Lamb and thus puts on the same level God and the Lamb, whose Godhead is being proclaimed. This marks the climax of the universal, cosmic adoration and praise that is rendered the Christ the Lamb. The emphatic “Amen!” of the four living creatures, and the worship offered by the elders bring this introductory vision to a close. Dear friends, the Catholic Church is the prolongation of Christ’s mystery: it is his Mystical Body. We are all members of His Body, of His Church through the sacrament of Baptism. But we must strive in every moment –Lord, You know all things, You know that I love you– to be LIVING members of His Body, that is, strive daily, for love of God, to be in the state of grace, being faithful to Him and His teachings handed to us through His Vicar, the Pope and by being responsible witnesses of His Resurrection with our struggle to live a holy life by which we glorify God. If we persevere till the end, with the help of God’s grace, we shall be counted among those who will cry in adoration, praise and everlasting happiness: cry out: “To the one who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor, glory and might, forever and ever.” If you like this post, kindly like our FB page in www.fb.com/CatholicsstrivingforHoliness or sign-up to our website,www.catholicsstrivingforholiness.com, so we can have a wider apostolic reach and thus help more people in their Christian life. Number of Baptized Catholics Worldwide Continues to Grow
Vatican City The number of baptized Catholics worldwide has grown at a faster rate than that of the world’s population, according to Vatican statistics. Although the number of priests has increased globally, the number has decreased slightly in Europe and Oceania, according to the Vatican’s Central Office for Church Statistics. The figures are presented in the “Annuario Pontificio 2016,” the Vatican yearbook, and will appear in the Statistical Yearbook of the Church, which gives detailed figures on the church’s workforce, sacramental life, dioceses and parishes as of Dec. 31, 2014. The number of baptized Catholics reached 1.27 billion or 17.8 percent of the global population, the statistics office reported March 5. Despite the increase of Catholics worldwide, the yearbook noted a “less dynamic” growth of only 2 percent in Europe. While the continent is home to almost 40 percent of the Catholic global population, the percent of the world’s Catholics living in Europe has slowly decreased over the past nine years, it said. Get everything NCR offers! Subscribe now and save $10! However, with the exception of Oceania, the number of baptized Catholics has grown faster than the general population growth on every continent. “The African continent remains without a doubt the one with the highest growth,” the report said; the number of Catholics in Africa increased by 41 percent, while the number of Catholics in Asia grew by 20 percent. The percentage of baptized Catholics as part of the general population remains highest in North and South America where they “make up almost half” of the world’s
Catholics, it said. The number of bishops of the world continued to increase, reaching 5,237 worldwide compared to 4,841 a year earlier. The total number of priests -- diocesan and religious order -- around the world was 415,792, which the report said was statistically “stable.” There was a steady increase of diocesan priests in Africa, Asia and Central and South America, while numbers in North America, Europe and Oceania continued to decrease. The number of permanent deacons reported -- 44,566 -- was an increase of more than 1,000 over the previous year. The number of religious brothers was down slightly, going from a total of 55,253 at the end of 2013 to a total of 54,559 at the end of 2014. The number of women in religious orders continued to decrease, dropping by 10,846 in 2014.The biggest decreases were seen in North and South America, Europe and Oceania while numbers in Africa and Asia continue to rise. The number of candidates for the priesthood -- both diocesan seminarians and members of religious orders -- who had reached the level of philosophy and theology studies showed a slight downturn. The number of candidates fell to 116,939 men at the end of 2014 compared to 118,251 men at the end of 2013. The variation in the number of men training to become priests varies by continent, the report said. There is an “evident decline” in the numbers from Europe and North America, while “Africa and Asia show great vitality,” it said.

Classic Converts and the Early Church - Fr. Charles P. Connor Fr. Charles Connor discusses the impact that the example of early Christians and their writings had on famous converts to Catholicism throughout the ages. (This talk was originally given in 2004 at the CHNetwork’s “Deep in History” conference). Please see here. About the Deep in History Talks from the CHNetwork The early period of the growth of Christianity (ca. A.D. 50-700) is a rich source for learning how the earliest disciples and apostles of Jesus Christ passed on the “faith delivered once and for all to God’s holy ones” (Jud 3). From Ignatius of Antioch in the early second century to Gregory the Great in the early seventh, the story of the Church’s proclamation in winning over pagan culture to Christ is widely diverse in practice and wonderfully unified in doctrine. The faith of these early Saints inspires and challenges us to live more deeply in love with Christ and in continuity with our forbearers in Christ. These resources take you deep into the history of Christ’s Church and thereby deeper into Christ. Please visit: Deep History and the CH Network.
