O'Neil Ford was arguably the most prominent architect to have come from Texas. In his long & distinguished career, he achieved both popular & critical success, yet retained a strong life-long link to his hometown of Denton. Ford designed the expansion of the library in 1969 along with several other municipal buildings. Join us as Mike Cochran presents an intimate look at O’Neil Ford’s design aesthetics & his influence on Denton’s architecture.

Summer Reading Club The 2012 Summer Reading Club, Get a Clue…at the Library, begins on May 31 at all Denton Public Library locations. The Summer Reading Club is an opportunity for participants of all ages to read for fun & earn prizes as they complete their reading goals. Prizes include free books, a party at the Denton Water Works Park & much more. Participants can join the reading club at any time between May 31 & July 25 to receive a prize. The Summer Reading Club program is co-sponsored by the Texas State Library & Archives Commission, Denton Municipal Electric & the Friends of the Denton Public Libraries. 10,000 Book Challenge Read-A-Thon The DPL’s Teen Advisory Board has teamed up with the Dallas - Ft. Worth chapter of Room to Read®, a national non-profit organization that believes “World Change Starts with Educated Children.” Together we will host a community sponsored Read-A-Thon to supply local language children’s books for a Room to Read® library in India. Help us reach our goal of 10,000 books by signing up and logging your reading throughout June. Every hour you read represents a brand new book in the Room to Read® library. O'Neil Ford, Texas' Architect: Denton Roots & Denton Legacy O'Neil Ford was arguably the most prominent architect to have come from Texas. In his long & distinguished career, he achieved both popular & critical success, yet retained a strong life-long link to his hometown of Denton. It was Ford who designed the expansion of the library in 1969 along with several other municipal buildings.
