Meet Children’s Author James Martinez
Come hear stories from visiting author James Martinez. Mr. Martinez publishes easy fiction stories that help children deal with the loss of a pet, cope with bullying, and realize the joys of helping others. His books include Diamonds in the Ruff, Patches’ Awesome Day, and The Dinosaur’s New Shoes. Helping Tales Publishers donates a portion of the proceeds from each book to select charities and groups. littleBits and Doodle Bots
Kick off winter break with a hands-on look into littleBits and Doodle Bots. We will explore electronics and invention by using electronic modules to build our own robots that magnetically snap together. For ages 8-15. Registration required. Fri 12/18 South Branch 3:30-5p.m.
Hands-On Engineering

Do you like to build things? Do you want to know what an engineer does? If so, come join the Brain STEMs from the UNT Society of Women Engineers for free food and fun as we learn about science and engineering! Best for ages 8-14. Wed 1/20, 2/3, 2/17 North Branch 4:30 p.m. Bring your appetite and your skills to battle in the Library Chocolate Olympics. Participants will compete in different games such as chocolate trivia, chocolate art, and more. For ages 10-17. Registration required. Tues 2/9 North Branch 4 p.m. Sat 2/13 South Branch 2 p.m.
Join Oklahoma mystery author Marion Moore Hill for a discussion of her books and the writing process while enjoying coffee and pastries. Be sure to read some of her books, now available at the library! Books will also be available for purchase at the event. Sat 1/9 Emily Fowler 10-11 a.m. TWU Sociology professor Jessica Gullion, author of Fracking the Neighborhood, and UNT Philosophy professor Adam Briggle, author of A Field Philosopher’s Guide to Fracking, will present a program on fracking based on their research. Meet the author: Dr. Diane Pomerance
Dr. Pomerance will discuss her recently published ninth book, Katherine: A Woman of Vision, which tells the story of Katherine Hayward, a British spiritualist, psychic, and healer in the early-to-mid-20th Century. The book is based on Pomerance’s personal study with Hayward. Copies of the book will be available for purchase. Mon 2/15 North Branch 7-8:30 p.m.
